Back in Summer 2021, NBC announced that Mike Schur was creating a Field of Dreams show for Peacock. This was exciting news because Schur is a huge baseball nerd who has been behind some of the best television series of the past two decades: The Office, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Plus, Field of Dreams is a cinema classic, so there was all kinds of TV magic to be made here.

And then it didn’t happen. Schur has previously revealed that Peacock abruptly pulled the plug, but now, he’s talking in depth about the canceled project, which would’ve have starred actors from his beloved series. This list of names is gonna hurt, so be warned.

“Andre Braugher was going to play James Earl Jones’ role, Kristen Bell was going to be in it,” Schur told Pablo Torre Finds Out. “Nick Offerman was going to be in it. William Jackson Harper who played Chidi in The Good Place was going to be in it.”

As for Schur, the worst part of the experience is that NBC literally abandoned a baseball field constructed for the show in an Iowa cornfield thanks to making the cancellation decision while the series was deep into pre-production.

“That’s the saddest part of this,” Schur said. “We went as far as you can possibly go without actually doing the thing that we set out to do.”

While emphasizing TV shows get axed all the time, Schur explained how the physical presence of the field and the symbolism of abandoning makes this story unique.

“We built it and they didn’t get the chance to show up,” Schur joked.

According to Schur, the series would’ve explored themes like “nostalgia, memory, and passion,” and let’s be real. The whole thing would’ve been freaking delightful.

To quote Charli XCX: vroom vroom. Neon has released the first full-length trailer for Ferrari, dudes rock director Michael Mann’s biopic of car manufacturer Enzo Ferrari starring Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz. Unlike the mostly dialogue-free teaser, Driver’s Italian accent — his finest voice work since House of Gucci — is front and center in the trailer. “If you get into one of my cars,” he says, “you get in to win.” You can watch it above.

“There were numerous times when I thought this was an impossible film to make,” Mann told Deadline about Ferarri. “And then I would go back and reread the screenplay and what was magical and riveting about it would present itself all over again and I constantly stayed completely committed to it.” It has to be good. I can’t accept living in a world where a movie about fast cars starring Adam DRIVER isn’t quality entertainment.

It is the summer of 1957. Behind the spectacle of Formula 1, ex-racer Enzo Ferrari is in crisis. Bankruptcy threatens the factory he and his wife, Laura built from nothing ten years earlier. Their volatile marriage has been battered by the loss of their son, Dino a year earlier. Ferrari struggles to acknowledge his son Piero with Lina Lardi. Meanwhile, his drivers’ passion to win pushes them to the edge as they launch into the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia.

Ferrari, which also stars Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gordon, Gabriel Leone, Jack O’Connell, and Patrick Dempsey, opens in theaters this Christmas.

Idles has announced their fifth album, TANGK, set to arrive early next year. Ahead of the album, the band has shared a new song, “Dancer,” which features James Murphy and Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem.

On “Dancer,” Idles’ lead vocalist Joe Talbot takes command, leading a new revolution of dance as he reigns over the dance floor. The video features the band and others dancing throughout the city.

TANGK features production by Nigel Godrich, Kenny Beats, and the band’s guitarist Mark Bowen.

When speaking of the album to NME, Talbot said he wanted the project to evoke a creative, eclectic energy.

“When I started this album, I said to Bowen: ‘I want to make people dance, I want people to feel the love that I need in my life, I want to make people move, I want our music to be infectious again – and I want it to be infectious in a way that makes people feel, not think. I want to feel part of something electric again’,” Talbot said.

The Daily Show wasted no time tearing into Jim Jordan‘s humiliating Speaker of the House vote, which saw 20 members of his own party voting against him after he confidently told reporters that he had the necessary votes.

Comedian Michael Kosta is filling in this week as guest host, and he had the honor of lambasting not just Jordan, but the Republican dysfunction in Congress. He also worked in a clever dig at a GOP Senator Mitch McConnell for good measure.

“A big loss for Jim Jordan today, Ohio representative and what you get when you photocopy your grandfather’s toe too many times,” Kosta quipped after playing clips of news anchors highlighting the embarrassing defeat. “As of now, it’s been two weeks of Republicans arguing with each other and they still haven’t been able to agree on a new Speaker. Which is a big deal. The Speaker of the House is the person responsible for… speaking in the House. So if they don’t have one, then nobody is speaking, and it’s just so quiet in there.”

“Congress can’t do anything until they figure this out,” Kosta continued before teeing up a brutal burn on Mitch and House GOP members. “They can’t pass laws, they can’t send foreign aid to Ukraine, they can’t impeach Hunter Biden’s penis. Right now, Congress is basically Mitch McConnell, totally frozen and no one knows how to fix it.”

Shortly after TMZ reported that Britney Spears claimed she had an abortion during her relationship with Justin Timberlake in her upcoming memoir, fans started looking at her past work differently. Specifically, the music video and lyrics to Spears’ 2003 song, “Everytime,” which is an emotional ballad.

At the time of its release, many had viewed it as a response to Timberlake‘s not-so-subtle video for “Cry Me A River,” where he seems to depict her cheating — causing a rough fallout after their breakup.

Spears’ music video finds her singing as a woman is giving birth and holding a child behind her. Fans are now speculating the song was likely about her grappling with the child she wanted.

The publication reported that “sources with direct knowledge of the book” confirmed Spears discussed the abortion and was pregnant at some point around 2000. “I loved Justin so much,” Spears allegedly writes. “I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.”

At another point in the book, Spears is also reportedly claiming that Timberlake cheated on her with another celebrity. However, the person is unnamed as they have a family now.

One of the most important rules on Wheel of Fortune is: solve the puzzle exactly how it reads on the board. Simple, right? But a contestant did not follow this rule during Tuesday’s episode and still won, and viewers have thoughts.

The Wheel of Fortune crossword clue was “Butter.” When it came time to solve the puzzle, contestant Nadine was reminded by host Pat Sajak to “say everything, don’t add anything.” It sounded like she guessed “Fly, Fingers, Bean, Nuts” (as in Butterfly, Butterfingers, etc.) and won the round, but that technically was wrong: she should have said “Fly, Fingers, Bean, Nut.” It’s a singular “nut,” not “nuts” (please stop giggling). That makes all the difference on Wheel, and fans of the game show were quick to point out the mistake on X.

As Britney Spears’ new memoir The Woman In Me inches closer to its October 24 release, excerpts from the book have started to surface. There have been some real bombshells so far, most notably the claim that Spears got pregnant with Justin Timberlake’s baby and had an abortion. Now, there’s another JT-related breakout: TMZ reports that in the book, Spears claims Timberlake once cheated on her with another celebrity.

In the book, Spears apparently doesn’t name the person because they now have a family and Spears doesn’t want to embarrass them.

As for Timberlake, he hasn’t addressed these newly surfaced claims yet. A “source” told ET, “Justin has been focusing on his own family and trying not to concern himself with Britney’s memoir. In recent years, Justin has tried to be supportive of Britney from a distance. They dated so long ago, but he still has respect for her. Justin and Jessica [Biel] just want everyone to grow and evolve instead of continuing to bring up the past.”

Elsewhere in the book, Spears reflects on her first kiss with Timberlake, writing, “[Once] at a sleepover, we played Truth Or Dare, and someone dared Justin to kiss me. A Janet Jackson song played in the background as he leaned in and kissed me.”

Donald Trump is claiming he’s “not allowed” to speak, even when he’s surrounded by microphones and cameras. On Tuesday, the frequently-arrested former president talked to reporters outside of a New York City courtroom where he complained about Judge Tanya Chutkan imposing a gag order on him. “The judge said, basically, I don’t have a right to speak. And I’m the number one candidate, leading the Republicans by 55 to 60 points. I’m being restricted My speech has been taken away from me. I’m the candidate that’s running for office, and I’m not allowed to speak,” he whined.

“Did all 15 microphones get that?” Jimmy Kimmel Live host Jimmy Kimmel joked during Tuesday’s episode. “Only Donald Trump would complain he’s not allowed to speak while speaking to 40 cameras at a press conference.”

Kimmel also pointed out that one frequent Trump complaint — that he’s being denied a jury trial — is “not true. His dummy lawyers forgot to request a jury trial, which means he’s definitely not paying them.” However, you should pay attention to the woman standing behind Trump, his lawyer Alina Habba.

“Junior Melania is like, I hope he doesn’t look back here,” Kimmel cracked. Now I can’t unsee it.

Back in 2017, Post Malone told Rolling Stone that he was getting ready to move to Utah. Since then, he’s been effusive about his love for the state and his home there, but recently, it looked like he indicated he’s moving on. Amid the confusion, though, Malone cleared things up himself.

As Salt Lake City’s FOX 13 notes, during an interview on The Howard Stern Show yesterday (October 17), Malone spoke about his multi-acre property in the Salt Lake area and said he wants “a little bit more” space, adding, “We’re going to expand the Jam Zone a little bit, I guess.”

Stern asked if Malone planned to buy more property around his current spot and Malone replied, “We’re going to go to another state. We have a plan for another state, and we have a plan for a bunker with a bowling alley and a car port and a swimming pool in it. I’m so excited. I’m so excited about it.”

Understandably, this had some people thinking that Malone was packing up and leaving Utah. Last night, those concerns apparently reached Malone himself, as he hopped on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “I’m not moving out of Utah y’all [hearts emoji] just getting some more land [face holding back tears emoji] I love living in this beautiful place.”

On Tuesday, October 17, Suga from BTS uploaded a vulnerable new episode of his Suchwita drinking show. He had Kim Jong-wan, lead singer of the Korean rock band NELL, on as a special guest, and the two discussed just how similar their careers were, according to Billboard.

While working in different genres, both shared one thing: They struggled with seeing rumors about their lives in the press.

“Of course, when I was young, I also had a lot of anger and rage — anger against the world and against the system, but as I made my mixtapes, a lot of those negative emotions got reduced,” Suga shared.

“During D-DAY, compared to D-2, people said a lot of that rage was gone, but I don’t think that can be helped,” he added. “I don’t think I need to bring back the emotions I’ve already dealt with. Back then, I was distressed and wanted to quit, but those thoughts went away through music, so now I’m thankful for those times. It was thanks to those moments that I can do all this now.”

Suga previously brought Jong-wan to perform on his earlier D-2 album, as he contributed killer vocals to “Dear My Friend.”
