The Colts And Jonathan Taylor Agreed To A $42 Million Extension

Jonathan Taylor’s future finally has a bit more clarity, and for the next few years, he’ll remain a member of the Indianapolis Colts. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Taylor and the Colts agreed to a new contact over the next three years that will pay him up to $42 million. In all, the deal will give Taylor $26.5 million in guaranteed money.

The NFL’s most productive running back in 2021, Taylor was limited to only 11 games last season. Ahead of the 2023 campaign, Taylor made clear he wanted a contract extension from the team, and when they were unable to work something out during the offseason, the All-Pro running back requested a trade, which prompted quite the response from Colts owner Jim Irsay.

Ultimately, Indianapolis made clear that he could seek greener pastures so long as they received a first-round pick back, but that never came. Taylor has been on the physically unable to perform list to start this season as he has worked his way back from offseason ankle surgery, and prior to the news of his extension on Saturday, the team officially activated him and listed him as questionable to play in Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

The Colts are 2-2 to start the season, and are coming off of an overtime home loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Bill Maher Torched Hasan Minhaj, Calling Him The Jussie Smollett Of Stand-Up

Hasan Minhaj was doing pretty well for himself — that is, until a recent New Yorker profile came out. The piece revealed that some of the Daily Show alum’s bits go a bit beyond poetic license. His claim that his family was mailed anthrax? Turns out that didn’t happen. The backlash has been severe, and on Friday Bill Maher joined the chorus of Minhaj dissenters.

On his latest episode of Real Time, Maher began a segment on Minhaj by calling him “the comedian who answers the question, ‘What if Jussie Smollett did stand-up?’”

Maher didn’t ease up, saying “the stories Mr. Minhaj tells in his act to elicit sympathy for himself as a Muslim and a person of color are completely made up.” He added, “If you want to speak truth to power, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you have to include the truth part.”

Thing is, Maher and Minhaj have a checkered history. Maher claimed that “he’s done this before with me,” saying that he once accused him of “saying Muslims should be put in internment camps—something I’ve never come close to thinking, let alone saying.”

Maher then compared him to a figure even more polarizing than Smollett: Donald Trump: “How is that different than this guy?”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Thinks He Would Have Been A ‘Great President,’ Were He Legally Allowed To Run

Plenty of actors get into politics. Not everyone becomes governor of a state. Arnold Schwarzenegger did, although lording over California was the highest office he could obtain. Born in Austria, the actor who doesn’t think he was the ’80s’ best action star is prohibited from running for the presidency. But if he could, he thinks he would have been a rad commander-in-chief.

Per People, Schwarzenegger spoke to Howard Stern in an interview that aired Thursday, during which he wrestled with not being able to run for president.

“It really wasn’t because I felt like everything I’ve accomplished in my life—[the] bodybuilding career, the movie career, becoming Governor, setting up my Schwarzenegger Institute, all this stuff, the millions of dollars I made and everything—it’s all because of America,” Schwarzenegger said. “So, why would I complain about the one thing I can’t do?”

That said, he told Stern, “I think that I would’ve made a great president. I think that I have the energy and the will to bring people together.”

He also said that “so many people come up to me and go, ‘Oh, I wish you could be our president.’” He added, “There are so many people out there in America who need help, so I think we should all concentrate on that … and not just think about ourselves.”

Schwarzenegger has been openly talking about getting old lately, but that doesn’t mean he’s slowing down.

“The bottom line is, I’m 76 years old,” Schwarzenegger said. “I’m full of energy, I’m full of enthusiasm. I’m as enthusiastic and excited as I was when I’m 40 years old.”

Schwarzenegger may be a Republican, but he’s more of traditionalist. He’s even come out against the rising tide of anti-Semitism in his party, warning those tempted by that ideology to not be a “loser.”

Charlamagne Tha God Says He And Birdman Have Squashed Their Beef After That Infamous 2016 Interview

Birdman and Charlamagne seem to have made peace. Back in 2016, rapper and Cash Money Records founder Birdman appeared on an episode of The Breakfast Club, however the interview was cut short after Birdman famously told host Charlamagne Tha God, “put some respect on my name.” Birdman quickly walked out of the interview, however, this particular line spawned several memes.

But in an interview with HipHopDX taken from the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards, Charlamagne suggested that he and Birdman have cleared the air.

He prefaced by saying he has nothing but love for the rapper, regardless of how the infamous interview turned out.

“He’s an OG that I look up to as far as what he’s built, as far as being a mogul,” said Charlamagne. “You can’t deny him.”

Charlamagne revealed he and Birdman spoke over the phone, after Big Bank, who hosts the Big Facts podcast, put them in touch over the phone. Apparently, the conversation lasted about five minutes, which is slightly longer than the three minutes Birdman stayed in The Breakfast Club studio during the infamous interview.

[Big Bank] put us on the phone one time and I was able to tell him that [I look up to what he’s done],” said Charlamagne. “It was just mutual respect. That was a fulfilling conversation for me.”

Seth Meyers Actually Wants Trump To Take The House Speaker Gig Because He’ll Be ‘Miserable By Day 2’

The Republican-led House of Representatives is in disarray. Last week, after Congress narrowly avoided a government shutdown, MAGA chaos agent Matt Gaetz successfully got Kevin McCarthy ousted from his Speaker gig. Who would replace him? Some floated a curious name: Donald Trump. That’s probably not going to happen. For one thing he’s thrown his weight behind Jim Jordan, the Beavis to Gaetz’s Butt-Head. But there’s one person who wants him to take it, if only because it will drive him crazy.

On Thursday’s iteration of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host roasted the GOP for not being able to govern — and for considering the worst guy imaginable to calm things down.

“Yes, tensions are high and Republicans are near fisticuffs. So naturally, the person to help calm things down is Donald Trump,” Meyers told the crowd. “The Republican party is such a mess, they’re asking for help from a guy who’s in court for fraud because no one else is willing to help them out. The GOP is like a guy who’s so desperate for a ride to the airport, he calls a friend who’s under house arrest.”

But maybe giving Trump a boring job is what will finally break him.

“He’ll be miserable by Day 2,” Meyers said. “It’s all boring procedure and filing legislation and saying mind-numbing shit like ‘The gentleman from South Carolina is recognized.’ He would hate it so much, he’ll actually want to go to prison.”

You can watch Meyers’ whole segment — which includes multiple digs at Gaetz’s alleged use of erectile dysfunction pills — in the video above.

21 Savage Has Been Cleared To Travel Internationally And Is Planning A Return To London, Where He Was Born

It looks like 21 Savage can finally join Drake on the It’s All A Blur Tour for international dates. The Atlanta rapper’s legal team has confirmed that he has been cleared to travel globally.

“She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph followed all applicable Immigration laws since his initial detention by ICE,” said 21’s lawyer Charles H Kuck in a statement. “His immigration court proceedings have now been terminated and he is a lawful permanent resident of the United States with the freedom to travel internationally.”

In tandem with the news, 21 took to Instagram to share a video montage of himself performing, juxtaposed with clips and photos from his childhood in London.

In February of 2019, 21 was arrested and detained by ICE. He was later released from immigration custody on a $100,000.

In an interview with Good Morning America, 21 revealed that he was born in London, and his mother brought him to the United States when he was seven years old. At the time, 21 didn’t know what a Visa was. He revealed that his Visa expired in 2006.

“I knew I wasn’t born here,” he said. “But I didn’t know like, what that meant as far as when I transitioned into an adult, how it was going to affect my life.”

At the end of the celebratory video, a screen reads “London…Im Comin’ Home.”

In the comments, Drake commented “*we’re.”

Mitski Warned Fans Not To Purchase Tickets From Scalpers And Promised Them More Dates

Hot off the release of her new album, The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We, Mitski is gearing up for a tour. Beginning early next year, Mistki will embark on 19-date North American tour, which will kick off in January in Miami.

The pre-sale began this week, however, like many acts, Mitski found that fans have been duped by resellers and scalpers.

Yesterday (October 6), Mitski took to Instagram to share a message with fans, warning them not to purchase fraudulent tickets.

“PLEASE DON’T BUY FROM SCALPERS & RESELLERS!,” she said. “It breaks my heart to think of you paying exorbitant amounts of money to scalpers when they have nothing to do with the shows or the efforts to make them happen. I would rather play an empty house than have you give your money to them.”

Mitski also clarified that she and her team are working to cancel tickets purchased from scalpers, and put fans who purchased fraudulent tickets on waitlists to get actual tickets. She also promised fans that there will be more North American and international dates later this year.

You can see the full statement below.

Hello!

Thank you so much to all of you who bought tickets to the 2024 shows so far! Ticket-buying is incredibly difficult these days, and I truly appreciate what you all go through to come to our concerts.

In our efforts to make the show experience extra special, we found beautiful, seated theaters to play over multiple nights, rather than one giant venue per city, in the hopes of offering a more intimate experience to the audience. But I know that this choice creates a feeling of scarcity, and I apologize for any frustration this causes.

In the midst of all this, the fact that scalpers buy up tickets to resell at unbelievable prices is infuriating! So I wanted to reach out with information that may hopefully alleviate some of the confusion and distress these scalpers cause.

1. My team is regularly working with the show promoters and venues to cancel tickets that are identified as scalpers or bots. Any tickets that are cancelled will be offered to fans on the waitlist. So if you were unable to secure a ticket to the show of your choice, please join the waitlist for the show through my website. The tickets we cancel from scalpers will be exclusively offered to people on the waitlist.

2. Many of the listings on resale sites are speculative, and some tickets may be listed multiple times on multiple sites. So scalpers may not have as many tickets as it appears (though they still have too many!) and some so-called tickets may not be valid.

3. This is only the first North American leg of our tour for 2024! There are more shows planned for the year, in North America and elsewhere in the world. This is by no means the last of our concerts.

PLEASE DON’T BUY FROM SCALPERS & RESELLERS! It breaks my heart to think of you paying exorbitant amounts of money to scalpers when they have nothing to do with the shows or the efforts to make them happen. I would rather play an empty house than have you give your money to them.

I’m so grateful to you all for buying tickets, coming to shows, and supporting the music. It means everything to me, and I’m so excited to see you all on the road!

Thank you again and again (and sorry for the essay^, haha),

Drake Swore To ‘Pay Whatever It Takes’ To Help A Fan With MS After Seeing Their Sign During His ‘It’s All A Blur Tour’ In Toronto

It’s ironic that Drake’s It’s All A Blur Tour with 21 Savage holds that title because Drake has been putting his “eagle eyes” to work during each show, catching bras and comforting fans based upon what their signs say. In August, Drake encouraged someone whose girlfriend cheated. In September, he gave a fan $50,000 after seeing a sign reading, “Drake I spent my furniture money on your two shows” (as per Billboard).

But what happened on Friday night (October 6), the day of his For All The Dogs release, may be the most touching of all his gestures thus far. He got emotional when promising to support someone recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease attacking the central nervous system, and offered to pay college tuition for seven fans.

In a video captured by someone in attendance at Scotiabank Arena (or “October’s Very Own Arena“) in Toronto, the first of Drake’s back-to-back hometown shows, Drake pauses to recognize a fan’s sign. “This one’s important to me,” he says in the video (circulated by Complex). “Her sign says, ‘I just found out I have MS. Will you help make my night?’”

He continued, “You know, my brother [Noah] 40 [Shebib] is one of the strongest people on Earth, and he fights through a lot of things. So, what I’m gonna do is, I’m gonna connect you with 40, first of all. Maybe y’all can have a conversation. And second of all, I’m gonna pay whatever it takes to get you the best help in the world. I promise you that. You got my word. And you can come back tomorrow night!”

Shebib, Drake’s longtime engineer and producer, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 22 years old — something Pusha T insensitively mocked in his 2018 diss track, “The Story Of Adidon.” He opened up about it in a 2020 Rolling Stone profile by Charles Holmes, who relayed “40 says that much of what allows him to move through the world — his eyes, ears, nose, fingers, toes — could stop working at any time.”

Health is also a priority for Drake these days. Around the release of For All The Dogs, he shared via his Table For One show on SiriusXM’s Sound 42 that he plans to take a break from music “for a little bit” because “I’ve been having the craziest problems, for years, with my stomach.”

“I need to focus on my health, and I need to get right, and I’m gonna do that,” he said, adding, “I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on, so I’m going to lock the door on the studio for a little bit. I don’t know what ‘a little bit’ is. Maybe a year or something. Maybe a little bit longer.”

At the very least, fans can expect to see him back at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night (October 7). The It’s All A Blur Tour also has five postponed tour dates yet to be rescheduled.

Mom shares ‘secret’ note she slipped to the pediatrician about daughter’s weight

There is a growing trend online and in therapists’ offices that is a backlash against the toxic positivity of the body positivity movement: body neutrality. This new perspective takes a neutral view of our bodies and encourages people to stop saying they are “good” or “bad,” “ugly,” or “gorgeous,” but that they just are.

“Body neutrality means taking a neutral perspective towards your body, meaning that you do not have to cultivate a love for your body or feel that you have to love your body every day. You may not always love your body, but you may still live happily and appreciate everything your body can do,” Very Well Mind writes.

Mother Caroline Hardin shared a great example of body neutrality on TikTok recently. In a post that received over 100,000 views, She shared a note she secretly handed to her daughter’s pediatrician at a recent appointment.

“Trying something new at the pediatrician will report back how it goes,” Caroline began in her video before revealing a handwritten note she gave to the doctor.

Don’t judge my handwriting i was writing in the car on top of a captain underpants book lol #bodyneutrality #bodypositiveparenting

@general.caronobi

The note reads:

“Doctor. When discussing my child’s weight and/or BMI, please refrain from using qualitative words like ‘good’ or ‘bad.’ We have managed so far to keep a body-neutral and body-positive environment for her childhood, and I appreciate your cooperation in preserving that for as long as we can.”

The unfortunate underlying message to the note is that Caroline’s daughter will one day have to exist in a world where her body is scrutinized. Every opportunity the mom has to delay that eventuality is a positive step for her development.

In a subsequent video, Caroline noted that the visit to the doctor went off perfectly.

Replying to @Caroline we will continue to take it one year at a time but we made it through this year’s checkup unscathed! #bodyneutrality #bodypositiveparenting

“We made it back home, and I’m happy to report that it went really well. The nurse made no comment when she was weighing my kid,” Caroline recalled. When the pediatrician popped in, she had a growth curve without any numbers that she was able to show to Caroline and her daughter. The doctor even used an age-appropriate way of describing the daughter’s health. “Your body is growing exactly how it wants to grow. Hooray!” she said.

“There were no discussions about restricting sugar or restrictions at all,” Caroline added. “So, my kids’ takeaway was that the doctor noticed her nail polish and that she got to tell her she has 8 friends.”

The video received much praise from women who wished they could have enjoyed a body-neutral childhood. “You legit just healed some of my soul. Thank you for this!!!” katmc52384 wrote in the comments. “Looovvveee this. Couldn’t figure out how to head it off without embarrassing my kid. Thank you!!” Carter added.

Caroline is happy that she found a way to take her daughter to the doctor without introducing her to the pain of body stigmatization. She also shared a way for parents everywhere to address a tricky situation without their children being alerted to our culture’s toxic perceptions of bodies and beauty.
