Sydney Sweeney’s Prom-Themed Birthday Party Looks Like If ‘Barbie’ Was Set In The 1980s

Sydney Sweeney‘s 26th birthday party went a lot smoother (and with less controversy) than her mom’s 60th celebration.

The Euphoria actress had an ’80s prom-themed birthday bash over the weekend. Sweeney wore a Barbie pink dress with puffed out sleeves, along with “a glittery micro Self Portrait bag, a coordinating corsage (of course), a diamond choker necklace with matching earrings from Elizabeth Cole, and pointed-toe slingback heels with bows,” according to InStyle.

Beauty-wise, the blonde bombshell styled her hair into corkscrew curls with an extremely deep side part, and she teamed her curly mane with sparkly eye makeup, thick black liner, and a pink lip. Among photos of the birthday girl blowing out candles, “Syd’s Prom” was the school dance everyone dreamed of in the ‘80s: disco balls, metallic streamers, pink draped curtains, a lit-up dance floor, and balloon backdrops.

Does this count as method acting if Sweeney plays a high schooler on TV?

Guests included Nicola Peltz Beckham, Alexandra Shipp, Camila Mendes, Ariana Greenblatt, Dylan Mulvaney, and Anitta, who wrote in an Instagram Story, “My first prom thanks to the bday girl @sydney_sweeney U deserve the best!!!” There’s no word on the soundtrack, but it wouldn’t be a real 1980s prom without an awkward slow dance to “Forever Young” by Alphaville.

You can see photos and videos from the party below.

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The Washington Wizards

We are less than a month away from teams reporting to training camps around the NBA, and the official first sign that the new season is almost upon us is the annual release of the latest installment of the NBA 2K franchise, NBA 2K24.

While fans of the game will be concerned mostly with the gameplay changes and updated game modes, general NBA fans are always interested in seeing how the ratings folks at 2K grade out all of the players and teams in the league. Player ratings always spark debate, particularly among how they rank top stars and regarding players whose impact often isn’t fully felt in the box score — or, vice versa, those who put up big stats but might not always contribute to winning basketball. As far as team ratings, 2K has moved away from dramatic differences between top and bottom teams, as the lowest rated team in this year’s edition is an 86 OVR and they don’t even show team ratings in the game setup screen (you can find them in MySeason mode when picking through teams to start a franchise with).

That 86 overall rating belongs to the Washington Wizards, which comes as little surprise after the team stripped its roster down this summer following Bradley Beal’s trade request. I’m not totally sure I agree this is the absolute worst roster in the league, as there’s still some solid veteran talent, with the caveat that they could continue moving veterans to contenders at the deadline, but the Wizards are certainly not expected to challenge for the postseason this year. What will be interesting is how Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Poole, and Tyus Jones fare stepping into larger roles than they’ve had previously, as they will be the three given the keys to this Wizards team and asked to figure it out.

Washington Wizards: 86 OVR, 90 OFF, 83 DEF

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors had a weird 2022-23 season and then made a major roster change by trading Jordan Poole to Washington for Chris Paul. That bolstered the Warriors point guard rotation with another high-level veteran, but did bring in some durability concerns. From a 2K perspective, the game loves this Warriors roster. Steph Curry is the headliner, but they are pretty deep and boast some high-end, two-way talent that is hard to match when healthy.

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers roster as it stands right now is not likely to be the roster for long, as Damian Lillard’s trade request hangs over everything in Portland. Even understanding that, there might not be a bigger difference in a team’s 2K rating and the on-court results of the last couple years than Portland, where their 94 overall is better than a lot of playoff teams — including the defending champion Denver Nuggets. Their roster seemingly breaks the game, as it can’t figure out how they aren’t better than they are, but it is pretty wild seeing their overall rating be that high, even factoring in how great Dame was a year ago.

Portland Trail Blazers: 94 OVR, 98 OFF, 90 DEF

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The Minnesota Timberwolves

In Minnesota, there’s plenty of excitement coming out of this summer where Anthony Edwards took on a starring role for Team USA and seems on the precipice of another leap. Karl-Anthony Towns being back healthy (and also playing well for the Dominican Republic) likewise bodes well for a team that desperately needs some time on court together to figure out how to coexist. The Towns-Rudy Gobert combo was shaky last year in limited minutes, but this is a solid roster with some very good high-end talent and if they can get into a rhythm and see Edwards take that leap, these ratings might end up looking a touch low.

Minnesota Timberwolves: 91 OVR, 91 OFF, 92 DEF

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The Oklahoma City Thunder

We are less than a month away from teams reporting to training camps around the NBA, and the official first sign that the new season is almost upon us is the annual release of the latest installment of the NBA 2K franchise, NBA 2K24.

While fans of the game will be concerned mostly with the gameplay changes and updated game modes, general NBA fans are always interested in seeing how the ratings folks at 2K grade out all of the players and teams in the league. The Thunder took a major step last season, earning a Play-In spot thanks in large part to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s leap into superstardom. He’s continued that this summer in the FIBA World Cup and, if anything, his 93 overall might need an upgrade as this season goes on. The Thunder have a ton of young talent, but the guy that holds the key to how good they can be is Chet Holmgren. Last year’s No. 2 overall pick missed all of last season with a foot injury and given the Thunder’s issues at center, if he can pop in the way some think he can, Oklahoma City could take another stride into the playoff convo out West. In 2K, his combination with SGA figures to be extremely fun and you can mix and match a number of fascinating wing combinations between them.

Oklahoma City Thunder: 93 OVR, 97 OFF, 88 DEF

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns figure to be a fan favorite in 2K because they have three of the most dynamic scorers in basketball in Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. In the real world, they have to show they can figure out how to balance each other and fit together (and get enough from the rest of the roster), but in 2K, it’s hard to find a more fun offensive experience than playing as the Suns. Defense is the question in 2K, as the Suns are dinged for an 89 defensive rating which holds them down at a 94 overall, as Durant and Deandre Ayton aren’t enough to sell the folks at 2K that this team can play at a high level on that end — as an aside, Bol Bol’s overall rating might be the wildest in the game compared to actual on court production.

Phoenix Suns: 94 OVR, 99 OFF, 89 DEF

Kevin Durant: 96

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The San Antonio Spurs

In San Antonio, everything about this upcoming season is about Victor Wembanyama. In 2K, he earned the highest rating ever for a rookie at 84 overall, and the hype around him is immense. The question is just how good he is immediately, as Summer League showed there’s still plenty of work to do to refine his game, as well as how much support he has around him from a very young roster. The Spurs might end up being pretty bad once again in the real world, but also should be more fun to watch (and play as in 2K) thanks to Wemby’s presence.

San Antonio Spurs: 88 OVR, 89 OFF, 87 DEF

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The Houston Rockets

No team enters the 2023-24 season with a more overhauled roster than the Houston Rockets, who were the lone team that really attacked the free agent market this summer. The result was adding Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Jock Landale, and Jeff Green to a young roster filled with fascinating talent that has never come together into a cohesive unit. Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr., and Tari Eason are all candidates to take a leap next year, but its rare for a team to get that from all of their youngsters at once. With Ime Udoka now in charge, they’ll look to establish a defensive identity that provides some floor balance to their tremendous offensive potential in hopes that wins will follow.

Houston Rockets: 91 OVR, 91 OFF, 90 DEF

The Complete ‘NBA 2K24’ Player Ratings For The Toronto Raptors

In Toronto, despite another summer full of trade rumors, most of their core group is back once again. Fred VanVleet’s departure left them scrambling to fill their point guard position, ending up with Dennis Schroder, but otherwise this is mostly the same roster that scuffled to the East’s 9-seed a year ago. The Raptors are the rare team in 2K to earn a higher defensive rating than offensive rating, which is both accurate and will probably not make them a particularly popular 2K team — playing good defense is not nearly as fun in a video game as being able to get buckets.
