Snoop Dogg And Chris Stapleton’s New ‘Monday Night Football’ Anthem Remakes A Classic ’80s Hit

Monday Night Football has returned, bringing with it one of the most interesting musical collaborations we’ve seen in a long time. Perhaps learning its lesson from the disastrous reception to the NFL’s undercooked Carrie Underwood and Ludacris song from a few years back, ESPN’s latest attempt to merge football’s disparate fanbases (“two Americas,” after all) finds a better balance between rap and country, meshing them through an ’80s rock power ballad, and tapping two undeniable personalities in Snoop Dogg and Chris Stapleton. The result is a remake of Phil Collins’ smash “In The Air Tonight” that actually captures the energy you want before a big game.

The new theme song premiered ahead of last night’s broadcast of the New Orleans Saints vs. the Carolina Panthers on ESPN, and played before the Cleveland Browns/Pittsburgh Steelers game on ABC. The hype video features the anticipatory buildup before a rivalry game game, as felt through the slow build of Collins’ original. In this version, though, that iconic drum breakdown kicks in early courtesy of drummer Cindy Blackman Santana, right before Snoop delivers a thematically resonant verse that captures the glory and passion of leaving it all on the field for your team and your city. Check it out below:

Incidentally, both Snoop and Stapleton performed at the last two Super Bowls; Staple sang the National Anthem at this year’s game, while Snoop performed the halftime show alongside Dr. Dre last year.

Trump’s Army Of Online Trolls Wants Squashed Meatball Ron DeSantis To Be ‘Dead On Arrival’ In 2028, Too

As Donald Trump continues to lead the Republican primary by a considerable margin, his online army has noticeably pulled back on attacking Ron DeSantis. After initially entering the race as the most likely candidate to take out Trump, the Florida governor is no longer viewed as a threat thanks to his weird and awkward performance on the campaign trail.

However, that doesn’t mean Team Trump is entirely done with DeSantis. The former president’s online army isn’t satisfied with just squashing ol’ Meatball Ron, they want to salt the earth for his 2028 run as well.

Via The Daily Beast:

“There’s obviously a purposeful pivot to the general happening in Trumpworld, which is why you see an increased focus on Biden,” the second Trump adviser told The Daily Beast.

Still, the adviser and occasional anti-DeSantis poster continued that “things got so personal in the primary that I don’t think Team Trump will ever fully take their boot off of Ron’s tiny neck until they feel like he’s not just dead on arrival in 2024, but also dead on arrival in 2028.”

Despite taking pride in “nuking” DeSantis, Team Trump surprisingly feels bad about how hard they went on the Florida governor even as they continue to burn his chances of a 2028 run to the ground.

“The memes,” the adviser told The Daily Beast, “got out of control, though.”

Lauren Boebert Is Being Trolled For Mocking The Military In An Attempt To Distract From Her ‘Beetlejuice’ Groping Scandal

Rootin’ tootin’ Lauren Boebert is attempting to recover from her groping scandal after she and Democrat Bar Guy went their separate ways. She also managed to leave Howard Stern feeling conflicted, which doesn’t happen every day. There’s no telling whether she will be able to “recover” from this mess in the next year before reelection time. It would be a miraculous feat if she overcame both this surveillance footage mess and also being filmed frantically running up the Capitol stairs after missing an important vote.

Boebert has attempted to put on a “joy”-ful face on to distract people from her current fiasco, but that didn’t work, so she turned to an old favorite subject: bashing anything woke. And since the missing F-35 military jet was making headlines (debris has since been recovered), that must have seemed like a handy target. She duly fired up the Twitter.

“The military is asking for the public’s help in finding an F-35 jet that went missing,” the disgraced congresswoman tweeted. “We’re talking about an $80,000,000 jet. This is what happens when military leaders are more focused on woke ideology than actually running a competent military.”

As you can imagine, this attempt at distraction is going over even worse than when Marco Rubio expressed disgust for members of the military holding an LGBTQ poetry night on their time off. As a result, there were so many jokes about missing bras, “grope ideology,” feeling around to find things and, yes, “a happy ending.”

Say it again, with feeling.

It’s 2023 And Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea Doesn’t Have A Smartphone, Which Prompted His Complaint To An NFL Team

Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers apparently had trouble trying to attend a recent Los Angeles Rams game at SoFi Stadium — and took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his advice for the venue. Particularly, when it comes to helping people like himself that don’t have smartphones to get inside.

“Dear @RamsNFL I love you, but it is very hard to attend your games for someone like me that does not own a smart phone,” Flea wrote. “Cant print out tickets or parking pass. cant get wristband, cant get back to seat after bathroom visit. Smart phone ownership should dictate experience. I hate smartphones.”

Some users in Flea’s replies felt a similar way. A commenter agreed, pointing out that food places aren’t letting people pay with cash anymore.

Others had jokes about what it must’ve been like for Flea without a phone. One user commented, “Security guard at Rams game: ‘some old man with no phone tryin to get into the good seats, keeps saying he is going to flee or something. Crazy old white people.’”

Another turned Flea’s post into pointing out that it’s also hard to get into a RHCP show without a smartphone.

Nicolas Cage Is The Man Of Everyone’s Dreams In A24’s ‘Dream Scenario’ Trailer

Everyone is dreaming of Nicolas Cage.

A24‘s Dream Scenario stars Cage as a hapless family man who “finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom,” according to the plot synopsis. The film also stars Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula, and Dylan Baker.

You can watch the Charlie Kaufman-esque trailer above.

The Hollywood Reporter praised Cage for giving “his Cage-iest performance to date” in Dream Scenario: “Dream Scenario, as off the wall as it is, could, with a concerted A24 push, absolutely land Cage his third Oscar nomination,” following a Best Actor win for Leaving Las Vegas and a nomination for Adaptation. “It’s an instant classic.” This wouldn’t make up for Pig (or Face/Off, for that matter) not getting recognized by the Academy, but it would help the healing process.

Dream Scenario, which was written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli and produced by Hereditary and Midsommar‘s Ari Aster, opens in select theaters on November 10th before a wild release on November 22nd. Take your folks on Thanksgiving. I’m sure they’ll “get it.”

50 Cent Couldn’t Help But Roast Busta Rhymes Over His NSFW Concert Antics: ‘It Just Feels Dirty, Inappropriate, Unnecessary’

Busta Rhymes has been serving as an opening act on 50 Cent’s ongoing Final Lap Tour, and the trek hit St. Paul, Minnesota on Friday, September 15. During Busta’s set, he drew some attention over some NSFW shenanigans on stage. At one point, he propped his microphone up against his crotch and acted like it was… well, not a microphone. He then smacked it down before lifting it back up and giving it a suggestive stroke.

50 couldn’t let this slide without commenting: On Instagram today (September 19), 50 shared a fan-shot clip of the moment and wrote, “[laughing emoji] BUSTA stole this move from me, I use to do this to magic stick 10 years ago. LOL [shrugging emoji] Now it just feels dirty, inappropriate unnecessary LMAO this is giving, your old uncle at the barbecue that won’t go sit down vibes right !”

This isn’t the only recent performance 50 has poked fun at: Earlier this month, he set his sights on Ja Rule. Ja performed at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip Hop Awards and had a biblical visual theme. To that, 50 Cent hopped on Instagram and wrote in response, “Look at this sh*t head, is he supposed to be Jesus. WTF you can’t make this sh*t up. LOL so stupid!”

‘Rolling Stone’ Co-Founder Jann Wenner Shared An Apology For His Comments About Black And Female Artists

In a recent New York Times interview promoting his book The Masters, Rolling Stone co-founder Jann Wenner said some problematic things about Black and female artists. One pull-quote, for example, reads, “Insofar as the women, just none of them were as articulate enough on this intellectual level,” having said that in relation to the white, male artists he included in his book.

Now, Wenner, who hasn’t been directly involved with Rolling Stone for a few years now, offered an apology, saying in a statement (as The Hollywood Reporter notes):

“In my interview with The New York Times, I made comments that diminished the contributions, genius, and impact of Black and women artists and I apologize wholeheartedly for those remarks. The Masters is a collection of interviews I’ve done over the years that seemed to me to best represent an idea of rock ‘n’ roll’s impact on my world; they were not meant to represent the whole of music and it’s diverse and important originators but to reflect the high points of my career and interviews I felt illustrated the breadth and experience in that career. They don’t reflect my appreciation and admiration for myriad totemic, world-changing artists whose music and ideas I revere and will celebrate and promote as long as I live. I totally understand the inflammatory nature of badly chosen words and deeply apologize and accept the consequences.”

Rolling Stone recently distanced itself from Wenner’s comments, saying in a statement, “Jann Wenner’s recent statements to The New York Times do not represent the values and practices of today’s Rolling Stone. Jann Wenner has not been directly involved in our operations since 2019. Our purpose, especially since his departure, has been to tell stories that reflect the diversity of voices and experiences that shape our world. At Rolling Stone‘s core is the understanding that music above all can bring us together, not divide us.”
