Celine Song directed one of the best movies of the decade so far in Past Lives. Now she’s back with her new film, Materialists.
The A24 romantic-comedy (emphasis on the romance) stars Dakota Johnson as Lucy, a young, ambitious New York City matchmaker who finds herself torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex, played by Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans, respectively. It’s nice to see Johnson and Evans out of the Marvel system, although hopefully they passed along advice to Pascal.
The trailer, which you can watch above, includes an original song from Japanese Breakfast (who releases her own album, Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), later this month).
When Pascal was asked by GQ why he wanted to work with Song, he replied, “Past Lives is one of the best movies I’ve seen in years, number one. There’s that simple answer. I met Celine and we became fast friends before the idea of ever working together. It really came down to it being, anything that she may or may not want me to do, I’d be willing to do it as an artist and as a friend. Working with that caliber of talent is the goal ultimately, and so I’m the lucky one.” Johnson also sung Song’s praises calling her a “masterful filmmaker.”
The 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards went down last night (March 17), and aside from some trophies being handed out, it was also a big night for performances. Among the artists taking the stage was Billie Eilish (along with Finneas), for a rendition of “Wildflower.”
Eilish was a leading nominee at this year’s show, with five nods. She only walked away with one win, but it was a big one: Album Of The Year.
Meanwhile, Eilish recently said of her plans for the next 12 months, “Definitely getting back into the studio and doing stuff. Next 12 months, I want to… I definitely have more tour, lots of tour to do, and probably more than I’m even scheduled for that’s gonna come, which I’m excited about. I feel like [touring], I’ve really made it into something really fun and enjoyable where it’s not always been that way. I’ve really suffered on tour and I feel like it’s gotten to be really, really enjoyable, so I’m excited for that.”

Yesterday (March 17) Mariah Carey unintentional created the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards‘ most viral moment (viewable here). While the “Always Be My Baby” singer did not appear to be impressed with her special live tribute featuring Muni Long and Tori Kelly, Carey was over the moon as she accepted the evening’s Icon Award.
Mariah Carey’s speech for the evening’s coveted award was indeed iconic. Before delivering her thank yous, Carey had to ensure everything was up to her standards. “Is the lighting ok cause I don’t like bad lighting,” Carey asked the crowd.
She then showed off her humorous side by explaining the music industry before the digital boom. “As a kid I used to listen to my favorite artists on the radio and dream of being on the airwaves myself,” said she. “Now, for those of you who may not know what airwaves are, think of it as the non-WiFi of streaming.”
Carey reeled things in with a dose of humility, saying: “Even now I still get excited when I hear one of my songs playing on the radio. It never stops being magical.”
Shortly after that, Carey delivered a dig at her ex-husband, Tommy Mottola. “He was my first manager,” she said referring to the president of iHeartRadio John Sykes. “Some people think it was this other guy, but it wasn’t him. It was John.”
She closed with an emotional tribute to her late mother and former opera singer Patricia Carey for “gifting her the gift of music,” her devoted super fans (the Lambs) for their unwavering support and every one who has played a part in her massive success on radio (all the way down to station interns).
With her son Moroccan, daughter Monroe, and rumored boyfriend Anderson .Paak looking up for the audience it is safe to say Carey was filled with emotions.

But yesterday (March 17), during the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, the “Abracadabra” singer’s career stride thus far were acknowledged when Lady Gaga was bestowed with the Innovator Award.
During her acceptance speech, Lady Gaga used the time on stage to slam ageism across the music industry–especially in pop. “Winning an award honoring my entire career at 38 years old is a hard thing to get my head around,” she said. “On the one hand, I feel like I’ve been doing this forever, and on the other hand, I know I’m just getting started. So even though the world might consider a woman in her late 30s old for a pop star, which is insane, I promise that I’m just getting warmed up.”
Lady Gaga also took a moment to share her take on the award’s meaning, saying: “Innovation isn’t about breaking rules. It’s about writing your own and convincing the world they were theirs all along.”
She even gave a kind nod to Doechii who presented her with the Innovator Award as one herself.
Later in the evening Lady Gaga took home Best Collaboration for her song with Bruno Mars (“Die With a Smile”).

Yesterday (March 17), Calvin Klein unveiled their latest underwear campaign starring Bad Bunny. The multiple Grammy Award-winning recording artist is no stranger to sharing thirst traps online. Still, his Calvin Klein unlocked an entirely new level of lust among his fan base.
In the comment section of the photo collage (viewable here), users penned their raunchiest responses.
“Something wet just rolled down my ankles,” wrote one user.
In a statement, Bad Bunny celebrated his sensual photo spread (photographed by Mario Sorrenti) saying: “This has been in the works for some time now; seeing it finally come to life has been gratifying. I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to be part of this brand’s iconic campaign, and getting to shoot it in Puerto Rico made it that much more special and genuine.”
With Bad Bunny on the dating scene, he just launch one hell of a billboard to find his next boo.
Following a recent interview with the New Yorker, fans are under the impressive Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker are more than musical collaborators. Continue below for more information.
Are Lucy Dacus And Julien Baker Dating?
According to the newly published sit-down with Lucy Dacus, she and Boygenius member Julien Baker are indeed in a romantic relationship. As Dacus discussed the group’s hiatus, she confirmed that she and Baker were an item.
In fact, Dacus’ forthcoming album, Forever Is a Feeling, will give listeners a look at how their romance has aided in her growth as a person. On the upcoming project’s title track Dacus says she sings about the ways in which the relationship “forced her to reckon with the unknown.”
Overall, Dacus says Forever Is a Feeling is more so about “coming to terms with change—of knowing that things aren’t forever.”
Dacus also revealed that Bridgers is in full support of the budding relationship, having gifted the couple a membership to their favorite spot–The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California.
Boygenius are currently focusing on their solo pursuits but in more ways than one, their love remains.
Similar to ceremony held earlier in the year, the competition at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards was stiff.
While, Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen lead the nomination pack with 10 nods a piece, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone and Sabrina Carpenter followed closely with nine for each of them. But Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, SZA and Teddy Swim didn’t do so shabby with five nomination each. So as the ceremony was broadcasted live on FOX, fans were locked in to see which of music’s biggest names would walk away on top.
Elsewhere in the program Lady Gaga received the 2025 iHeartRadio Innovator Award. Mariah Carey was also honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Icon Award. Outside of her nominations for the evening, Swift’s The Eras Tour was named Tour of the Century (and celebrated by airing an exclusive performance from the record-setting tour).

Based On A True Story is out 3/28 via Rave In The Wasteland/SLANG. Find more information here.
Well, Drake has issued a response to UMG’s claims and its newly filed motion. In a statement provided to TMZ, Drake’s lead attorney Mike Gottlieb slammed UMG.
“UMG wants to pretend that this is about a rap battle in order to distract its shareholders, artists and the public from a simple truth,” he wrote. “A greedy company [UMG] is finally being held responsible for profiting from dangerous misinformation that has already resulted in multiple acts of violence.”
He continued: “This motion is a desperate ploy by UMG to avoid accountability, but we have every confidence that this case will proceed and continue to uncover UMG’s long history of endangering, abusing and taking advantage of its artists.”
You gotta hand it to Netflix. The streaming service committed to a series about author Michael Connelly’s maverick criminal defense attorney (portrayed by Matthew McConaughey for a single film), and that appeal has stretched for many more miles of Lincoln Town Car wheeling and dealing. Now, a fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyer is on the way, and the show will further improve on their previous decision to bring back Neve Campbell as Mickey Haller’s first wife, Maggie McPherson. She will be more involved in this fourth season, so let’s not waste any more time on what to expect.
Plot
Mickey Haller will need to recover from that god-awful (for him) season finale, in which he was busted for (unknowingly) driving around with Sam Scales’ (Christopher Thornton) body in his trunk. That episode, “The Gods Of Guilt,” took its title directly from Connelly’s novel that was adapted for the season.
Now, Mickey must defend himself on murder charges if co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez stick with that detail from the next book, The Law Of Innocence. And it’s safe to say that they will do so because the series has stayed pretty close to Connelly’s writings in previous seasons. Humphrey, for his part, confirmed to Netflix that Mickey has found himself in “the biggest cliffhanger of all,” which can only be resolved through a season-long trial. Also, Mickey will need to learn how to take his own advice:
“All the advice he’s given clients over the years, now he has to give himself — and he realizes how hollow some of it sounds when you’re the one it’s bouncing off of,” says the co-showrunner who is directing the first two episodes of Season 4. ‘He’s got to deal with how this impacts not just him but also his family and loved ones, not to mention his business! But don’t worry — he’s going to have help from some of the people our audience loves the most, as well as some familiar faces who will be cropping up along the way — some helpfully… some perhaps not so helpfully, and a few new ones as well.’”
Netflix hasn’t provided a fourth season synopsis yet, but we can guess a key difference from the Law Of Innocence book synopsis on Connelly’s website:
Mickey elects to defend himself and must strategize and build his defense from his jail cell in the Twin Towers Correctional Center in downtown Los Angeles, all the while looking over his shoulder–as an officer of the court he is an instant target.
Mickey knows he’s been framed. Now, with the help of his trusted team, including Harry Bosch, he has to figure out who has plotted to destroy his life and why. Then he has to go before a judge and jury and prove his innocence.
That difference will be a lack of Harry Bosch, which shouldn’t be shocking, since Netflix has previously declined to include Mickey’s half-brother (whose streaming home remains within Prime Video/Amazon’s Bosch universe) throughout this series, but Mickey can find help elsewhere.
Conveniently, Netflix announced that Maggie will appear in all ten episodes, and she will surely help Mickey strategize against his case’s prosecutor (a former DA colleague of Maggie’s) known as “Death Row Dana,” who is known for bending the rules in her favor. Furthermore, Mickey will be facing a hostile judge, so he’ll need all the help that he can get, which takes us into the next section.
Cast
Netflix
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is now and forever Mickey Haller (sorry, McConaughey). As already noted, Neve Campbell will return as Maggie, and they will be joined by Jazz Raycole (Izzy), Becki Newton (Lorna), and Angus Sampson (Cisco).
New faces will include “Death Row Dana” Berg, portrayed by Constance Zimmer. Deadline recently reported other new characters, including Yannick Bamba (Marcus Henderson), “a former gang member and the man in the cell next to Mickey’s,” who will help Mickey stay alive behind bars. Grace (Gigi Zumbado) will surface as a paralegal classmate of Izzy’s that joins the defense team. And KTLA Reporter Kacey Montoya will appear as herself.
Release Date
Netflix usually doesn’t hold back on releasing this show when it’s ready to roll. With May 2022, July/August 2023, and October 2024 being the previous release windows, The Lincoln Lawyer is sure to return by late 2025.
Trailer
With no trailer to speak of yet, it’s worth taking a trip back to the first season when Mickey caught Ken Schwartz (Mark Bloom) flat-out lying in open court, which led to Mr. Schwartz’s entire life falling apart before his eyes.
