Sun June Dropped Two New Songs, ‘Easy Violence’ And ‘John Prine,’ And A Video For Each

Ahead of their upcoming album, Bad Dream Jaguar, Sun June has shared a double-pack of new singles — “Easy Violence” and “John Prine.”

On the first of the two sings, “Easy Violence,” the Austin-based band‘s lead vocalist Laura Colwell delivers soft-tinged vocals, as she intimately sings about putting demons to rest.

In the song’s accompanying video, Colwell is seen getting into an unrecognizable costume, and then heading to a diner.

“‘Easy Violence’ is about the fears you become attached to and the mistakes you try to outrun,” said the band in a statement. “We’re talking peak White Horse 2013. The song started out as a demo we recorded at home. We liked the ‘voice memos’ feel and we ended up keeping the drum machine, guitars, synths, and the first-take vocals. We fleshed out the rest with the band in Dan Duszynski’s studio. For the video we got our friend Lauren Wilde to turn Laura into a jaguar for a staged photo shoot. It was fun to capture Laura begrudgingly surrender to a marketing campaign. The image of her driving through LA traffic alone with her makeup still on made us laugh — a hangover of self-promotion.”

“John Prine” features Colwell singing as she grasps onto a special feeling, holding on for as long as she can. The video features a young woman boarding a ferry, as the camera positions itself over a brisk sea.

“‘John Prine’ is about appreciating something for the first time after it’s already over, and struggling to let it go,” said Colwell in a statement. “It’s also a shout-out to my father who loves to say, ‘I’m not asleep, I’m just resting my eyes.’ The song was recorded in North Carolina by Alli Rogers and features Justin Morris (Sluice, Fust) on pedal steel. When Dan Duszynski mixed it he morphed the pedal steel into something more haunting and more ghostly (and more sleepy). We wanted the video to capture the feeling of coming down after a long night or a short visit with someone you miss, the kind of daze that’s a mix of longing and appreciation. I am not a morning person, but I really wish I were.”

You can see the videos for “Easy Violence” and “John Prine” above.

‘The Bikeriders’ Trailer Looks Like A Cross Between ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ And ‘Goodfellas’

What if Martin Scorsese directed a Sons Of Anarchy prequel? That’s the first thing that comes to mind when you watch the freshly dropped trailer for The Bikeriders, an “inspired by true events” saga written and directed by Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special, Loving).

Based off photojournalist Danny Lyon’s iconic black-and-white photo book of the same name from the time he embedded with a motorcycle gang in the 1960s, the film is centered around a young biker played by Elvis star (and Golden Globe winner) Austin Butler. He’s broken free of his impression of The King, but the smolder still plays even while he wrestles with what his beloved club is becoming over the span of a decade. Jodie Comer plays his wife with a thick midwestern accent and a strong desire to keep hold of her man. Pulling on the other side is Tom Hardy as what appears to be a mentor of sorts and the head of the club. We also spied Michael Shannon (who worked with Nichols previously in the tremendous Take Shelter) and, is that you Dewey Crowe (Damon Herriman)?! Sticking with the Justified connect, Boyd Holbrook (who co-starred in Justified: City Primeval) is also on the cast list, as is Norman Reedus, who we can assume brought his own bike.

Slated for a December 1 release date, The Bikeriders looks like Oscar bait in the best way with the promise of its visionary creator, stellar cast, high-stakes drama, and the romantic counter-culture aesthetic of rebellious bikers living outside the law while being consumed by in-fighting and ego. You can glimpse some of that aesthetic and an homage to the original Lyon book with the first still from the film, as well.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Semifinal Round Of The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup

Four teams are left standing at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The quarterfinal round is now over, and while the losing teams will continue playing in an effort to determine seeding, four of the top international squads on the planet are moving on, setting up a pair of high-profile showdowns with a spot in the final on the line.

On one side of the bracket, the United States earned a spot in the semis after an emphatic, 100-63 drubbing of Italy. Their opponent didn’t have quite as comfortable of a road to get there, as a Germany squad with plenty of NBA talent barely hung on against an upstart Latvia team, 81-79, as a Davis Bertans three in the game’s waning moments did not go in.

On the other side, the Nikola Jokic-less Serbia squad that has been led by Bogdan Bogdanovic and Nikola Jovic handled business against Lithuania with an 87-68 blowout, while Canada was able to pull away from Serbia in the second half of the highly-anticipated showdown between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic. The Oklahoma City Thunder star went for 31 points in a 100-89 win.

Both of the semifinal contests will take place on Sept. 8. The Serbians and the Canadians will square off first, with their game tipping off at 4:45 a.m. ET. Once one of those teams secures a spot in the final, the United States and Germany will go head to head at 8:40 a.m. ET. As of now, both games are slated to be broadcast on ESPN+, and will take place at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

As for the four teams that lost and are playing for the 5th-8th place spots, Italy will play Latvia and Lithuania will play Slovenia on Sept. 7. The former will tip off at 4:45 a.m. ET, while the latter will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET, and both will air on ESPN+.

‘The Boys’ Spinoff ‘Gen V’ Just Dropped A Bloody New Trailer That Makes One Thing Clear: Everything Is ‘F*cked Up’

The highly-anticipated The Boys spinoff Gen V has unleashed a new redband trailer that offers the bloodiest dive yet into the new college-based series.

Centered around a cast of young Supes who are just getting a grip on their powers, Gen V will explore the inner-workings of Godolkin University. To the public, the school teaches young heroes to become powerful, seemingly righteous heroes like Homelander and The Seven. Behind closed doors, well, the school is just like Homelander and The Seven.

In this latest Gen V trailer, it becomes very clear that this new crop of Supes are loaded with a terrifying combination of gruesome powers and raging hormones that Vought Industries would very much like to keep under wraps. However, that’s easier said than done when some of the students prove difficult to contain.

Also, there are killer puppets? The show is definitely going to be wild, which is par for the course when Derek Wilson hops aboard. The Future Man star has a brief cameo in the new trailer and is rumored to be playing Tek-Knight, a character from The Boys comic who has yet to make his live-action debut.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set in the diabolical world of The Boys, Gen V expands the universe to Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You know what happens when supes go bad, but not all superheroes start out corrupt. Beyond the typical college chaos of finding oneself and partying, these kids are facing explosive situations … literally. As the students vie for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that the stakes are much higher when super powers are involved. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they’re put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?

Gen V drops its first three episodes September 29 on Amazon Prime Video.

The Teaser Trailer For Studio Ghibli’s ‘The Boy And The Heron’ Is Stunning

If you’ve seen any of director Hayao Miyazaki‘s classics films, including My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Kiki’s Delivery Service, you know to expect breathtaking animation. The Boy and The Heron is no exception.

Studio Ghibli has released the first teaser trailer for The Boy and The Heron, Miyazaki’s first movie since 2013’s The Wind Rises. You can watch it above.

The Boy and The Heron was released in Japan in July — with no images, trailers, and advertisements, outside of a single poster — to strong reviews and big numbers at the box office. The Boy and The Heron will have special preview screenings in the United States on November 22nd before expanding to cinemas nationwide and in Canada on December 8th.

The official description reads:

A young boy named Mahito
yearning for his mother
ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead.

There, death comes to an end,
and life finds a new beginning.

A semi-autobiographical fantasy
about life, death, and creation,
in tribute to friendship,
from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki.

The Boy and The Heron — which is expected to be Miyazaki’s final film — will be released in both its original Japanese with English subtitles, as well as a dubbed version.

Tucker Carlson Has Reached A New Low By Interviewing A ‘Con Artist’ Who Claims He Did Drugs And Had Sex With Barack Obama

How far has Tucker Carlson fallen since leaving the comfy confines of Fox News for X? He’s interviewing a convicted “con artist” who claims he had sex with Barack Obama in the late 1990s.

“A man who claims he had sex with Barack Obama in 1999 tells his story. Wednesday. 6pm ET,” Carlson wrote on X, along with a clip from his chat with Barack Obama & Larry Sinclair: Cocaine, Sex, Lies & Murder? author Larry Sinclair. “I had given Barack $250 to pay for coke, I start putting a line on a CD tray to snort and next thing I know he’s got a little pipe and he’s smoking it,” he says in the video. “So I just started rubbing my hand along his thighs to see where it was going, and it went the direction I had intended it to go.”

Sinclair first made this claim in 2008, and it’s been bullsh*t ever since. As Politico reported at the time, Sinclair has a lengthy criminal record, “with a specialty in crimes involving deceit. The record includes forgery charges in two states, one of which drew Sinclair a 16-year jail sentence.”

Sinclair has a criminal history, including convictions on forgery, fraud, and larceny charges, and has served prison time in Arizona, Florida, and Colorado… For more than a decade, Sinclair’s claims were taken seriously only by the furthest fringe of conspiracy theorists, and had largely receded from public discourse. Last week, Carlson revived the long-defunct controversy in a podcast interview.

Carlson was on Adam Carolla’s podcast when he alleged that in 2008, “it became really clear that Barack Obama had been having sex with men and smoking crack and a guy came forward, Larry Sinclair, and said ‘I’ll sign an affidavit and I’ll take a lie detector’ and he did.”

There’s not a shred of evidence that any of this happened, but Carlson will happily give this nearly toothless man a platform to tell his long-debunked conspiracy theory. For better or worse, people are excited for this train wreck.

Kayleigh McEnany’s Claims About ‘Angry’ Joe Biden Raging Through The White House Sound Awfully Familiar (Hide The Ketchup Bottles)

Donald Trump has never tried to hide his rage-filled rants. His off-the-hook tantrums are one of the most predictable things about him, other than that Diet Coke addiction. Granted, we don’t know if Trump is really tossing ketchup bottles while he pitches fits, but his penchant for ALL CAPS RANTS that make “ROID RAGE” trend is, well, a thing.

However, former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who has been not-so-affectionally referred to as “milktoast” by her ex-boss, is here to claim that Joe Biden is the real rage monster. While speaking to Tucker Carlson time-slot replacement Jesse Watters, Kayleigh pointed the finger at the guy who apparently couldn’t even drop an f-bomb with the right amount of emphasis (until Obama enlightened him).

In a totally serious manner, Kayleigh is here to talk about how “angry” Joe is the guy who “snaps at staffers,” and she offers no proof.

Kayleigh McEnany is not exactly known for truthful or reality-based statements, but she’s likely full of (as Joe would say) malarky here. Sure, Joe Biden has had a few coarse words at the mic when challenged, just like any other president has done. Yet Kayleigh worked with the “guy who would rage tweet till 4am” while in office, and he still does it.

Kayleigh must have conveniently not noticed a certain Mark Meadows quote: “Because I knew I’d be yelled at by the president of the United States.”

You know what they say: there’s never a bad time for ketchup-bottle jokes:
