Taylor Swift Had So Many Nice Things To Say To Nelly Furtado In A Touching Backstage Moment At The 2023 MTV VMAs

This past weekend’s 2023 MTV VMAs were full of noteworthy moments, and not just on the stage: A previously banned Madonna commercial aired over 30 years later, Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake had a widely misinterpreted moment, and Selena Gomez silently made her thoughts about Chris Brown clear. Taylor Swift and Nelly Furtado had themselves a pleasant interaction and the whole thing was really sweet.

In a backstage video that Furtado shared on TikTok yesterday (September 14), Swift peppers Furtado with compliments. She starts, “I was just streaming ‘I’m Like A Bird’ the other day.” Furtado responded, “No you weren’t!” Swift replied, “Yes I was! Versatility, dude. You can do anything. You can do anything.” An appreciative Furtado replied, “Every time you write another amazing song, I’m like, ‘She did it again!’”

In the comments of her post, Furtado wrote, “And yes her saying ‘you can do anything ‘is my new ring tone.”

Swift had a fantastic time at the VMAs, it appears. Aside from winning a bunch of awards, she was spotted in the crowd having an awesome time, and some suspect some liquid courage may have been involved.

Why Is ‘Suits’ Season 9 Not On Netflix?

Suits, the legal drama that was always on before your daily House reruns, garnered a huge following this summer after the show was released on Netflix. The series, which ran from 2011 to 2019, starred former normal American citizen Meghan Markle before she became a Royal alongside Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, and Gina Torres as a crew of cutthroat lawyers in New York.

After landing on Netflix this summer, the series became a streaming hit thanks to a few TikTok trends, though there is one peculiar roadblock: the final season is missing from the streamer. Yup, after you get to the end of season eight when Specter and Donna finally get together, there is suddenly no more Suits for you on Netflix. Heartbreak feels bad in a place like that.

It’s unclear why the season isn’t on Netflix, and the streamer has not yet announced when (if ever) it will acquire season nine. The good news is that Peacock is using this to its advantage by bragging about having the final season available.

On the opposite side of things, Amazon Prime only has season nine of the series, while seasons 1-8 are only available for purchase. So next time you get to season eight in your re-watch, just be sure you are aware that there’s even more Suits out there for you to enjoy.

When Will ‘The Boogeyman’ Be On Streaming?

It’s been a long time since we first learned that Stephen King’s story The Boogeyman would be adapted into a film, and after years of waiting, the movie finally hit theaters this summer. The spooky tale tells the story of two sisters (Yellowjackets Sophie Thatcher and Vivien Lyra Blair) and their dad (Chris Messina) as they grieve the sudden loss of their mother. The father, a therapist, gets an unwelcome visit from one of his patients who leaves behind a spooky entity known as The Boogeyman, which feeds off the family’s trauma. It’s a bit like The Babadook but without that creepy book.

The movie is based on Stephen King’s beloved (and horrifying) short story, which has already been made into several adaptations due to its simple but horrifying presence. Originally, the film was meant to be streaming-only, but thanks to some positive test screenings, it was released in theaters in June.

The Boogeyman is currently available on demand on YouTube, Vudu, AppleTV+ and others, while a DVD release will hit stores on October 10th. While a streaming date has not yet been announced, there is a good chance the film will end up on Hulu in time for everyone’s favorite spooky tradition, Huluween. Until then, you might have to settle for The Babadook.

Ice Cube Went Scorched Earth On Elon Musk In Response To A Dumb, Silly Meme He Shared On X/Twitter

Over on X (formerly known as Twitter), Elon Musk is well familiar with sharing memes that aren’t particularly funny, or may have once been somewhat amusing during an earlier internet age. Yesterday (September 14), for example, he posted a side-by-side image of the vintage Success Kid meme and a photo of Thanos, holding his fist up in a similar position, captioned, “Remember this kid? This is him now. Feel old yet?”

X users responded with similar memes, some of which got laughing emoji responses from Musk. He liked one of them so much that he re-shared it himself: A similar “Feel old yet?” side-by-side of Ice Cube and a glass of water. Ice Cube saw an opportunity to go after Musk and took it: He responded with a meme of his own, featuring a side-by-side of the now-former Twitter logo and a literal dumpster fire. It’s captioned, “Remember Twitter? This [is] it now, feel stupid yet?”

Ice Cube isn’t the only musician to express criticism over how Musk is running X. Dionne Warwick was recently asked about Musk’s decision to remove the ability to block users on X and she responded, “I have yet to speak to that young man and I intend to because I am not quite sure what he’s doing or if he knows what he’s doing. So until that happens, I’ll reserve my answer to that question.”

Indiecast Reviews Albums By Mitski and Olivia Rodrigo

Those following the Fall Albums Fantasy Draft are probably aware that Steven is off to a big lead, as Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts (his no. 1 pick) is already one of the year’s best reviewed albums. But how do Steven and Ian feel about it? After a mini “Sportscast” episode featuring a surprisingly contentious debate about NFL vs. college football, the guys get into the album. Here’s the verdict: the “bubblegum rock” half of the record is really fun. But there are also a ton of melodramatic ballads with intense theater kid energy that are… less fun. Why are critics overlooking the weaknesses of Guts? And is it possible that Rodrigo is more of a singles artist than an album artist?

You know who is an albums artist? Mitski. While Steven wasn’t a fan of her previous record, 2022’s Laurel Hell, he loves her latest work, The Land Is Inhospitable And So Are We, which he considers one of the very best albums of the year. Ian also likes The Land, though he still prefers her mid-2010s punk/emo era to her current soft rock incarnation.

In Recommendation Corner, Ian talks up the latest album by the Chemical Brothers while Steven stumps for the new Wild Pink side project, Lilts.

‘Power Book IV: Force’: Ranking The Power Players In ‘War & Ice Cream’ (Season 2, Episode 3)

(WARNING: Spoilers for the most recent Power Book IV: Force episode will be found below.)

Tommy Egan escaped death on two occasions during last week’s episode of Power Book IV: Force and he isn’t about to give it a third chance to get him in the show’s second season. So to start episode three of Power Book IV: Force season two, we see Tommy set on making sure that things are made right after his car is shot up. This leads to him making a visit to Jenard’s house where he instructs him to find Lil K, the man who shot at Tommy, and ensure that he is handled before matters are taken into Tommy’s hands. Jenard eventually sets out to do this by paying a visit to Lil K’s mom’s house, but an interaction with his mother stops him from pulling the trigger. Scenes later, after Jenard gets his Lamborghini stolen by the Serbs, Jenard chokes Lil K to death for questioning his moves as group leader.

Back in Tommy and Diamond’s world, the two continue their rise in the Chicago drug game and a new move is helping them sell product faster than ever. Thanks to help from Kendra, Diamond’s love interest and a warden at Southville Prison, Tommy and Diamond are now able to sell product within the jail. This helps them sell their batch faster than ever means that they have to return to Miguel for a re-up quicker than expected. They don’t get a re-up as Miguel is a bit suspicious of their operation In Tommy’s world, he’s getting closer to finding out who killed Liliana and he’s pretty sure it’s Claudia, though he doesn’t have enough evidence yet to be certain. Diamond has a close call with his parole officer and he meets a kid from the neighborhood with a bright future who could use help from Diamond in learning how to better defend himself.

Elsewhere, we see Tommy and JP’s mother take small strides to make amends for the many, many errors she made with her sons. Claudia struggles to pick up the pieces after Dahlia’s leak and her removal from the Flynn family organization and Vic makes progress in his plan to take out his father from inside the family organization.

Before we dive into this week’s Power Players list, let’s make note of who will not be on the list this week. Jenard once again misses the cut simply because he is forced to give up his Lamborghini, forced into killing one of his crew members, and is suddenly getting high off his own supply and buying heroin to use as well. Claudia hasn’t been able to do much without Dahlia as her weapon. The Feds made a case to make the cut, but the creation of their task force is the most they did this week as they had another murder take place in their city. Miguel still hasn’t realized that Tommy and Diamond are tricking him, so another week on the bench it is. Lastly, D-Mac is still under strict orders to stay in the house, so we didn’t get much action from him. However, it appears that could change next week.

5. Tommy’s Mom

If you’ve been a part of the Power Universe since its start, then you know Tommy’s mother is not what one would define as a “great mother.” She struggled with addiction to alcohol and drugs, and it resulted in the neglect of her children. We saw it with Tommy, and we saw that it was even worse with JP. Yet, as the saying goes, “better late than never.” In this episode, we see Tommy’s mom make awkward strides to fix the relationship she has with her sons. Her efforts are extremely minimal compared to the damage caused, but it’s a step in the right direction. Her efforts are most notable during an AA meeting and toward the end of the episode when she surprises Tommy with his favorite childhood ice cream.

TIE: 4. The Mechanic Fixing Tommy’s Car/Kendra

'Power Book IV: Force' 103 Tommy's Car
STARZ

This week’s episode is mostly focused on the wins of Tommy and Diamond and the errors by Jenard, so there isn’t too much to pull from. As a result, we got creative and there’s a tie for the fourth spot. That tie is between Kendra, the prison warden who is Diamond’s new love interest, and the presumed mechanic who is fixing Tommy’s beloved car. Though it was proposed as a joke at first, Kendra accepted Diamond’s offer to allow him to move CBI product through her prison in exchange for a big fee. As for this mechanic, Tommy loves his car and will do whatever it takes to make sure it comes back brand new. Case in point, it’s a big payday for both parties.

3. Vic Flynn

'Power Book IV: Force' 203 Vic
STARZ

Vic moves up a spot this week as his plan to take out his father from inside the family crime organization is off to a smooth start. He calls the cops on a courier who was set to move product for a partner that Walter invested in. He then disguises it as a simple run-in with the law, and to take matters further, he kills the partner during a later meeting between the partner, Walter, and Vic himself. Vic disguises it as a necessary move after the courier’s arrest, but Walter is extremely frustrated by the killing and he deems it as the typical reckless move from his son. With Walter not being suspicious about anything yet, things are going according to plan for Victor and the mission continues.

2. Tommy Egan

'Power Book IV: Force' 203 Tommy
STARZ

Tommy slips to the second spot this week, not because he messed up in “War & Ice Cream,” but more so because he didn’t do as much as our No. 1 spot. Still, his power and presence are felt throughout the episode. He threatens and forces Jenard into killing one of his members over their decision to take a shot at Tommy despite Jenard’s orders. He’s (correctly) guessed that Claudia was the one who killed Liliana, but he isn’t ready to retaliate until he has undeniable proof. Still, he strikes some fear into Claudia by letting her know that he’s on to her. Tommy also makes some progress with Mireya, makes some amendments with his mother, and avoids getting his hand chopped off by Miguel. It’s a good week all in all for Tommy.

1. Diamond

'Power Book IV: Force' 203 Diamond
STARZ

We’re giving Diamond the crown this week as his plan to move product within the Southville Prison where Kendra is a warden and has agreed to work with him. Not only is this agreement in place to oversee the sale of CBI’s product, but she also eliminates competition from a rival gang by forcing their leader into a deal. Outside of the drug world, Diamond also seems to make an impact on a young boy from his local community and it appears that he will take the youngster under his wing and make sure he’s protected. This week proved that Diamond is just as important to his and Tommy’s partnership as Tommy is. Their operation works because both sides have things they can contribute to ensure that they both win, and win they did this week.

New episodes of ‘Power Book IV: Force’ are available on the STARZ app on Fridays at 12:00 am ET/PT and on the STARZ TV channel at 8:00 pm ET/PT.
