Britney Spears’ Estranged Husband, Sam Asghari, Did Not Tolerate Don Jr.’s Swipe At Her Knife Dancing

Much has been made of Britney Spears’ decision to dance with knives, which of course led to plenty of scrutiny and also prompted an LAPD welfare check. Britney has hinted that she was swept up in the spirit of Halloween and/or paying tribute to Shakira with said dancing, and it seems like almost everyone has weighed in on the controversy, so it was apparently time for Don Jr. to wade in, too.

Over the weekend, the ex-presidential son had some spare time, despite everything, and decided to share a meme that attributed the knife dancing to being of “America Under Biden.” Don Jr. also labeled a throwback photo of Britney as “America Under Trump” (and captioned the whole thing as “yup”) because I guess he thinks his dad was president in the late 1990s? No one knows, but his use of the meme was overall not a good look.

Britney’s estranged husband, Sam Asghari, decided that he wasn’t going to let this joke/meme slide. Via Page Six, Sam took to his Instagram stories and tagged Don Jr. while writing, “It’s not okay to be a bully.”

Sam and Britney announced their divorce in late August. It’s been said that he’s getting nothing in the prenup other than gifts previously bestowed by the singer. He didn’t seem forthcoming on the subject of his ex when TMZ recently caught up with him, but clearly, Sam felt that Don Jr. needs to chill out and leave Britney alone.

Will Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Film Have New Music Videos?

Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour isn’t over yet. This week, the international superstar announced the impending release of a concert film based on footage of her tour coming to AMC Theaters on December 1. However, in addition to allowing fans to relive the experience of the tour (or experience it for the first time, for those who missed out on tickets to see it live), Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé will also finally fulfill one of fans’ greatest wishes since the Renaissance LP made the “world stop.”

Will Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Film Have New Music Videos?

The answer is a resounding “yaaaas, b*tch!” According to Variety, the film will incorporate highlights from the tour as well as the highly-anticipated videos that Beyoncé has been teasing fans with for over a year. It’ll also feature behind-the-scenes footage of the recording of the album and the conception stage of the tour.

When Renaissance dropped in July of 2022, fans were eager for more of the iconic music videos that have helped make Beyoncé a fixture of pop culture. However, not even three months went by before they grew restless with the relative radio silence. Rather than give an update, though, Beyoncé decided to instead troll her loyal followers through the official Parkwood Twitter account, posting a meme that suggested they might end up getting Suga Mama old by the time she “released the visuals,” as they kept demanding.

When the tour started, she continued to tease them with a video during the presentation, as the concert narrator admonished, “You’ve asked for the visuals. You’ve called for the queen. But a queen moves at her own pace.” Now, it seems we know exactly what she was waiting for: An opportunity to once again shake up the world (and probably get a do-over on the Lion King: The Gift movie Black Is King, whose probable theater release was derailed by COVID-19). Good things come to those who wait.

Who Is Opening 6lack’s ‘Since I Have A Lover Tour?’

Atlanta singer 6lack has kicked off the Since I Have A Lover Tour for his album of the same name, setting out in Portland last night and preparing to hit 29 more cities, concluding in his hometown on November 24. Then, he’ll pick back up for the European leg of the tour in February, running through the beginning of March. He’s bringing with him a group of intriguing openers including Mereba, Quin, Jordan Ward, Spinall, and Sadboi. You can learn more about them all below.

Who Is Opening 6lack’s ‘Since I Have A Lover Tour?’

Mereba

Singer-songwriter Mereba has a close connection to 6lack through their shared membership in the Atlanta-based collective Spillage Village. While Mereba is not technically an Atlanta native, she attended Spelman College, earning a degree in English in 2011. She has one solo album, The Jungle Is The Only Way Out, which was released in 2019 through Interscope, and she appears numerous times on Spillage Village’s 2020 LP Spilligion, both singing and rapping. She’ll only appear on the first 10 dates, handing opening duties off to Jordan Ward beginning with the St. Louis stop.

Quin

Los Angeles native Quin is an alt-R&B singer who garnered attention for her 2019 EP Lucid. She’s also collaborated with the likes of Buddy, Syd, and Khalid, as well as multiple collaborations with 6lack, her partner. Quin will appear on all of 6lack’s California dates, rejoining the tour in Minneapolis to close out October and all the remaining dates.

Jordan Ward

Soulful rapper Jordan Ward, who toured with JID and fellow St. Louis native Smino earlier this year, just dropped his debut album Forward in March. It’s an apt title, as the album features forward-thinking dance-soul production that pairs with a melodic delivery and optimistic lyrics. He actually started his career as a dancer for acts like Becky G and Justin Beiber, so expect his set to be lively and dance floor-friendly. He appears on the most dates, running from his hometown debut all the way to the end of the North American leg.

Spinall + Sadboi

Spinall is a veteran Nigerian DJ who helped popularize Afropop in the United States before its big breakout in recent years, working with 6lack in 2021. He’s also got six albums under his belt, the most recent of which, Top Boy, was released in February of this year. He’s billed for all the European dates. He’ll be spinning alongside Sadboi, who, contrary to her name, doesn’t offer appear to be sad or a boy. Sadboi’s brand of alt-R&B is influenced by EDM, dancehall, and even drill, so she brings something different to the international dates.

Breaking Down The Bucks And Celtics Matchup After Their Summer Of Trades

After a couple very quiet months in the world of NBA transactions, the last week brought a flurry of deals that saw the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics separate themselves from the rest of the Eastern Conference contenders (on paper, at least).

The sudden arms race began when the Bucks landed Damian Lillard in a three-team deal with the Blazers and Suns, sending Jrue Holiday and Grayson Allen out in the deal. Holiday was then swiftly rerouted this weekend to Boston as the Celtics, who had made the biggest trade of the offseason prior to Lillard by acquiring Kristaps Porzingis for Marcus Smart and others, seemingly recognized they now needed 48 minutes of great guard defense to deal with a Dame-led Bucks team, swooping in to bring the former Buck to Boston for Robert Williams and Malcolm Brogdon (and a couple of picks).

Both teams have gone all-in on this year, and each team is now banking heavily on their starting lineups to carry an immense load by sending out depth to add top-end talent. There are genuine concerns about what happens if either team loses one of their top players, and each are now also banking on health from some stars who have had recent durability concerns.

For Boston, that’s Porzingis, who had a terrific year last year but has already dealt with plantar fasciitis this offseason and, with Williams gone, the Celtics frontcourt grows even thinner. In Milwaukee, it’s Khris Middleton who is vital on the wing, with little behind him now that Allen is gone. And Middleton missed considerable time last year working back from a knee injury that ended his postseason two years ago. Then again, very few teams are capable of winning a championship without a top player and if that is your only goal, as these two have made clear is the case, you might as well create the best possible high-end outcome.

That’s where I want to focus. There’s no way to predict health, and it’s far more fun to imagine what an Eastern Conference Finals showdown could look like between two healthy teams. What makes both teams so fascinating is they are constructed in very different ways, with varying strengths, weaknesses, and matchup advantages that, should we get the seven-game series we’d all love to see, will determine who comes out on top.

We’ll start with the Celtics defense, which has been one of the best in basketball the last two years. Boston now has two of the best perimeter defenders in basketball in Holiday and Derrick White, who they surely hope can mitigate the offensive headaches created by Lillard. Both have long arms and are disruptive on and off the ball, capable of applying ball pressure, navigating screens, and making it increasingly difficult for the Bucks to get into their sets. They also have Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who are both long, versatile defenders on the wing and they should have a lot of switchability 1 thru 4. Having multiple options to send at Lillard is important, and few teams will be able to keep pressure on Dame for an entire game better than the Celtics.

The question, for this matchup and overall, is in the frontcourt. Like with Lillard, the Celtics will want to show Giannis a lot of different looks, but unlike with Lillard, they don’t have as many good options. Al Horford is still a good defender but is getting older and certainly wouldn’t be the first player you’d select to handle Giannis. Porzingis has rim protection abilities but is not particularly good in space and likewise isn’t the ideal choice to matchup with Antetokounmpo, although he did spend the fourth most time guarding Giannis a year ago while with the Wizards — Giannis scored 19 points in the 14 minutes he was defended by Porzingis, per the admittedly wonky NBA matchup data. A year ago, the four Celtics that spent the most time defending Giannis were Grant Williams (8:24), Jaylen Brown (4:57), Marcus Smart (4:44), and Robert Williams III (3:27). Three of those are now gone, meaning Joe Mazzulla and company will come up with a completely different coverage strategy for facing Giannis, and it will be fascinating to see how they craft that.

For years, the idea against the Bucks was to form a wall and show Giannis as many bodies as possible to deter him from putting his head down and getting to the rim, where he’s almost unstoppable without fouling. With Lillard, that calculus changes considerably as he is the most dynamic perimeter threat Giannis has ever played with by a large margin and is a threat well beyond the three-point line. That requires a very different approach, both when Giannis is on the ball or playing as the screener. What’s interesting is whether the Celtics’ roster seems better equipped to try and limit Lillard and test their partnership by seeing how often Lillard can and will get the ball to Giannis going downhill against a Boston frontcourt that is missing an elite rim protector like Robert Williams was.

One would assume they’ll show a variety of looks to keep them off balance, with some switching when Holiday is on the ball (similar to how they used Smart), showing size with Porzingis, and then asking Brown to shoulder a larger burden as well.

I think how well Lillard and Giannis can get on the same page in Year 1 in their various actions will be the determining factor in how they fare against this Boston defense. There shouldn’t be a singular defensive strategy that can limit them, but the potential pitfalls come in whether they can read and react to varied looks and make the right decision time and again. They clearly have the ability to do that, but building that trust and unspoken bond in pick-and-rolls and dribble handoffs often takes time, even for two elite veteran stars — particularly when they’ve never had someone on their team capable of what each of them can do. That’s part of the excitement for the duo, but it’s also going to take a bit for them to fully understand what it is they can do for each other.

If that process goes smoothly, the Bucks offense is terrifying. Giannis will either have more space than he’s ever seen or Lillard will face less perimeter pressure than he’s ever dealt with, and there isn’t really a good choice on either side of that equation. Khris Middleton will now be firmly the third option and should get better looks and see less attention than he’s gotten in years. Brook Lopez’s ability to set screens and either pop out to the perimeter or roll and seal smaller defenders will make him a quick favorite of Dame’s, and Pat Connaughton will space and cut as the fifth option. It all makes a crazy amount of sense on paper, and we’ll just have to find out exactly how much of a buzzsaw that unit can be on the floor — because given the bench situation, they’re probably going to need to be.

Boston’s offense is dynamic in a similar way now as well, albeit with a bit more frontcourt bias, with Tatum still the engine but Brown now no longer needing to be the secondary ball-handler with Holiday in town. The biggest weakness in Brown’s game has been his handle, but that should be mitigated with Holiday able to start possessions and create for others. Holiday’s big issue in the postseason has been shooting efficiency while shouldering a heavy burden, but in Boston he should be the fourth scoring option, rather than the second or third as he was in Milwaukee (depending on Middleton’s health) and that should accentuate his passing chops while deemphasizing his need to get buckets. Porzingis gives them a frontcourt scoring dynamic they’ve never really had during the Tatum-Brown era, and the pairing of Porzingis and Horford could provide a crazy amount of space for Tatum and Brown to attack the paint because they now are playing alongside two of the league’s best three-point shooting bigs from a year ago.

The challenge for the Bucks on defense is how they can keep Lopez as a rim deterrent while dealing with the spacing abilities of Boston’s frontcourt. For years, Milwaukee has been willing to give up threes in order to shut off access to the rim, but that has made them particularly susceptible to hot shooting series from opponents. For all of the skills of Tatum and Brown, a matchup between the Bucks and Celtics could very well hinge on the three-point shooting of Porzingis and Horford. Both are coming off of career years in that department, and if they can both be 38 percent-plus threats from deep,

I’m not sure what you do to slow down this Boston offense and they can punish Lopez’s deep drop. However, both also posted sub-35 percent shooting seasons two years ago, and if that’s the case then they’ll have a harder time breaking Milwaukee out of their defensive shell.

If they can prove to be threats that need to be accounted for at all times, that also increases the pressure on Lillard as a defender. The idea in Milwaukee is that having Giannis and Brook patrolling the rim mitigate his deficiencies as a defender, with Lopez’s proficiency in drop lessening the impact of Dame’s struggles in screen navigation and the weakside rim protection of Giannis helping to limit the damage of teams drawing Lillard into isolation. However, if Boston’s bigs can draw those two further away from the rim, both as straight floor-spacers and in pick-and-pop, Lillard’s defense will become a bigger story. Boston doesn’t present a great option to hide Lillard anymore, and he’ll likely just have to guard Holiday and White at the point of attack in a series — when Boston goes small with White and Holiday, it’s a lock Lillard will be on White. If that’s the case, Milwaukee is going to have to be great in rotation and communication, which places a lot of stress on the unit as a whole.

The bench units for both teams are major questions, and I’d expect both teams to be looking at possible upgrades as the deadline and buyout market arrive in February. That said, they also don’t have a lot of ammunition to make trades, and buyout players are rarely real impact players so it’s likely they look fairly similar once the playoffs arrive. In Milwaukee, I’d expect a playoff rotation of about eight players (similar to how Denver navigated the playoffs a year ago), with Cameron Payne, Bobby Portis, and Jae Crowder as the frontrunners to make up that rotation — Malik Beasley and MarJon Beauchamp could also crack the rotation in early rounds, but I’d think it gets trimmed pretty tight for the ECF. Crowder and Portis in the frontcourt are solid and provide some small-ball versatility and floor-spacing. While I’m not a huge fan of being reliant on Payne (this was often a concern of mine for Phoenix), if he’s always out there with one of Middleton or Giannis it certainly should help ground him.

Boston has even less experience beyond their top six, with Payton Pritchard, Luke Kornet, and Oshae Brissett (and maybe Sam Hauser?) as the likely options at guard, center, and wing beyond their star-studded six-man rotation. Wing depth is the biggest question for the Celtics behind their star duo, and getting solid contributions from Brissett in spot minutes would be a huge boost for them.

These are two teams that have done what fans always ask their teams to do, which is go all-in on a title window. Both have built unbelievable starting lineups with questionable depth, but when it comes time to sort out real contenders every year, very rarely do we include a team missing a key piece. Both teams have some elite defensive talent that will be put to the test by two offenses that, on paper, can present unanswerable questions. That will put coaching into focus, with two relatively unproven head coaches in Joe Mazzulla entering his second year and Adrian Griffin going into his first. They will have to make the right choices on where to focus their efforts and what to give up on defense, as well as pressing the right buttons on rotations with fairly thin bench units.

All of it makes for fascinating conversation now, but hopefully even more fascinating basketball to watch when they get on the court. Come May, we’ll see if we get the series we all want with both teams healthy, in what could be an all-timer in the East.

A ‘Naked Attraction’ Producer Answered The (Ahem) Biggest Question About Male Contestants On The Nude Dating Show

Max‘s Naked Attraction is your average dating show with one big (or small or average sized) difference: the contestants are naked. The British series has been a much-discussed hit since quietly dropping on the streaming service, which came as a surprise to executive producer Darrell Olsen. “We thought it probably wouldn’t [air in the United States] due to the general restrictions in the States and the public feeling about nudity on TV,” he told the Hollywood Reporter.

Olsen also revealed the process behind finding contestants, who spend much of the episode standing in glass pods like they’re on display in a museum. “Everyone thinks everyone coming on is a naturist or massive extrovert who just runs around naked. Some of the people are quite shy. It’s just about finding people who have enough body confidence to come on the show,” he explained. The contestants might be confident, but the guys are also not above trying to make themselves look more.

Do guys ever try anything to make themselves appear, you know, bigger?

When the screens are down before before we start, it’s hard to know what they’re doing. A few of them pull in their stomach.

The heat isn’t the only thing getting cranked [gets escorted by security into a Naked Attraction tube that’s then launched into the sun]

What’s Next For Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance World Tour?’

Beyoncé recently wrapped up the North American leg of her massive Renaissance World Tour, as she closed it last night (October 1) in Kansas City. While she previously finished the European run earlier this year, many fans are wondering if there will be any other global stops.

Some Beyhive fans spotted a cryptic post from Ticketmaster Chile’s social media account — as it is just a photo of a folder on a laptop titled “Eventos Ticketmaster 2024_Final.” Many suspect that she’s heading to South America next year. In the photo, it has 12 items listed, which could also correspond to the number of dates.

While the comments are mostly flooded with Beyoncé fans hoping it’s tied to her, others have also speculated that the folder is of 12 artists coming to South America instead. Either way, she is rumored to be one of them.

For those who also won’t or haven’t been able to make it to the Renaissance Tour, Beyoncé recently announced that she’s bringing it as a concert film to theaters on December 1. Right now, only North American showtimes have been announced, but Parkwood Entertainment has said that there will be global screenings announced at a later date.

Check out the rumored Renaissance Tour teaser post from Ticketmaster Chile below.

All The Best New Music From This Week That You Need To Hear

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.

This week saw a number of big hip-hop collabs and Bad Bunny unexpectedly come through with a new tune. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.

For more music recommendations, check out our Listen To This section, as well as our Indie Mixtape and Pop Life newsletters.

Bad Bunny — “Un Preview”

Bad Bunny is one of biggest musicians in the world (perhaps the biggest), but instead of dropping on Friday like most other major artists do, he went ahead and unveiled a new track on a Monday. The song is “Un Preview,” a catchy number accompanied by a video that seems to include some nods to Kendall Jenner.

Lil Yachty and J. Cole — “The Secret Recipe”

Yachty’s Let’s Start Here from earlier this year was a dive into psychedelic rock, and that influence is still clear on his latest, “The Secret Recipe.” J. Cole hopped on the track and his lyrics have made some think he dissed NBA YoungBoy.

Jung Kook — “3D” Feat. Jack Harlow

Jung Kook is undeniable and Jack Harlow appears to agree, as he joined the BTS star on his latest solo single, “3D.” Uproxx’s Alex Gonzalez notes of the track, “Over a groovy, rhythmic R&B-inspired beat produced by BloodPop and David Steward, Jung delivers silky vocals, continuing the smooth, captivating story he began with Latto in ‘Seven.’”

PinkPantheress — “Mosquito”

Boy’s A Liar, Pt. 2” is quite the hit, but PinkPantheress’ bag goes much deeper than that. Last week, for instance, yielded “Mosquito,” a personal number she indicated she’s been sitting on for a minute, explaining, “After a long wait my favourite song is coming out to the public. I’m so excited for you guys to hear something different from me in form of this song.”

Ed Sheeran — “Plastic Bag”

Sheeran has kept things pretty low-key with his latest album, Autumn Variations. It arrives just months after (Subtract), and he didn’t really drop any major singles to promote the project. That doesn’t mean the songs aren’t there, though, like the introspective anthem “Plastic Bag.”

Latto — “Issa Party” Feat. Baby Drill

Baby Drill gave fellow Georgia rapper (and former Uproxx cover star) Latto an assist on her latest, “Issa Party.” On the song, as Uproxx’s Alex Gonzalez notes, “Latto puts her haters and naysayers on notice, warning them that they can look forward to a surprise from her if they don’t stop trying to play her.”

Sexyy Red — “No Panties”

UPROXX Sessions alum Sexyy Red had herself quite the summer and she’s clearly carrying the momentum into fall with “No Panties,” for the soundtrack of Season 2 of Rap Sh!t. As the title and Sexyy Red’s oeuvre might suggest, “No Panties” leaves little to the imagination: “I ain’t got no panties on, gotta let this coochie breathe / Bend that sh*t over, touch them toes, grab your knees.”

Oneohtrix Point Never — “Again”

After spending the last few years working with The Weeknd on his two latest hit albums, Daniel Lopatin is back on Oneohtrix Point Never duty with his first album under the name since 2020. It’s full of the experimental electronic music that he so deftly knows his way around, and while these certainly aren’t pop songs, there’s still an undeniable allure to them.

Feid — “Ferxxo Edition”

Feid established himself as a Latin star on the rise with 2022’s Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos el Álbum, and now, barely over a year later, he’s back with another new LP, Mor, No Le Temas A La Oscuridad. He recently told Uproxx of the project, “For me, my inspiration was trying to make music that puts me on the outside of all the songs that I’ve been doing. I know that formula of doing reggaeton songs, of doing sad perreo, and doing songs like ‘Porfa,’ ‘Normal,’ ‘Hey Mor,’ and ‘Yandel 150.’ I’m a fan of myself, too, so I really wanted to listen to new Feid music. We were trying to write special lyrics that couples can relate to good moments. I always say that the songs by Sin Bandera always bring you back to a special moment in your life, and that’s what I’m trying to do with this specific album. The name is saying to not be afraid of change. Dare yourself to change. You’ve always been shining in that dark world or industry.”

Becky G and Ivan Cornejo — “2ndo Chance”

Speaking of Latin stars, Becky G came through with a new project of her own, Esquinas. Her third album is yet another winner and sees her, in honor of her grandparents, confidently exploring the Regional Mexican genre.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

‘Invincible’ Creator Robert Kirkman Revealed A Pivotal Change That Viewers Can Expect In Season 2

After first debuting in 2021, Invincible proved to be a smash hit with fans thanks to the faithful adaptation of the Robert Kirkman comic. The Amazon series follows teenage Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) as his superpowers finally kick in and he can follow in the footsteps of his dad Nolan (J.K. Simmons) a.k.a. the intensely powerful Omni-Man. Unfortunately, things go catastrophically south with their father/son relationship, setting the stage for the highly-anticipated Season 2 that finally debuts next month.

While you’d think the status of Mark and his dad’s relationship would be the top concern on fans minds, not so much, according to Kirkman. In a new interview with IGN, the comics creator revealed the question he gets asked a lot coming out of Season 1: “When is Mark going to start winning fights?”

In fairness, Mark got the snot beat out of him in the first season as he slowly got the hang of his powers. He also got thrown into a brutal fight where he stood absolutely zero chance against his opponent: His own dad. However, according to Kirkman, things are going to start turning around for Mark, but not too much!

“He starts winning fights in Season 2,” Kirkman told IGN. “He still does lose fights, though. Angstrom Levy is another big part of that, just showing Mark as a capable superhero who can stand on his own and to really give people a sense of what this show really is about.”

That being said, don’t look for Mark to become a triumphant hero right out of the gate. Invincible doesn’t work like that, and Kirkman made it clear that Mark’s journey is only warming up in Season 2.

“Mark is in this place where he was on this trajectory to become this superhero, and everything seemed to be going really well. Now, he’s been shaken to his core,” Kirkman said. “Aside from the betrayal, he’s also left with being the new last line of defense on Earth. He’s the guy that’s the only one strong enough to actually replace Nolan, so he’s kind of thrust further into this superhero world that he may not quite be prepared for, and there’s no end of conflict that’s boiling on the planet that is coming at him nonstop.”

Invincible Season 2 premieres November 3 on Amazon Prime Video.
