‘The Chi’: Here’s The Music You Heard In Season 6, Episode 4

(WARNING: Spoilers for this week’s The Chi episode will be found below.)

We are now halfway into the first half of The Chi season 6, part one. In the series’ fourth and latest episode, there’s a focus on the mental health of the people around Victor, specifically the men in his close circle. Victor has made mental health in his community the focus of his term as city councilman and he begins with checking in on Shaad, Emmett, Darnell, Marcus, Quincy, and Jamal. Tiffany and Rob make progress on their marijuana business goals and Douda finds himself in a tough position as a result of a recent killing.

The events mentioned above in the fourth episode of Showtime’s The Chi season six, titled “ReUp,” are soundtracked by songs that help to accentuate the emotions behind each scene. You can find a list of them below and details about the scenes the records played behind.

The following records were provided thanks to the Showtime Entertainment Public Relations team. Some records are unreleased and will not be on streaming until a later date. Check back for updates on a release.

Brandon Christian — “Work”

Aerin — “All I Wanted Was You”

This song plays around the 8:49 mark as we check in with characters from the show to see how they’re celebrating 4/20. Darnell and Jada enjoy a smoke together while Dre and Nina figure out an order to place. Both duos are also looking to get some more weed from Tiffany, as is Nuk and Bakari who take a hit from a bong. We then Tiffany on her phone trying to coordinate all the orders.

Hollywood Koko & Tamira — “Drip”

Around the 15:15 mark, Fatima and her girls gather for a quick brunch. It’s here that they talk about Victor, her recent decision to move in with him, and if their relationship is something good for her.

Genesis Denise Hale aka Maisha — “Three1Two”

This record plays around the 20:35 mark as Maisha and Jemma are in a recording studio working on another song. The pressure is mounting for her and Jemma to find another hit and it’s starting to come in between them as Jemma’s dad reminds her of their deal in regards of her making money with Maisha or going to college.

Thor — “Tip It Good”

Around the 42:29 mark, this record plays through a video on Jemma’s phone. The song is performed by a local rapper who is wearing a shirt from Jake’s clothing line. Jake sees it as a win and celebrates, but Jemma is more concerned with the music in the video and what it means for the type of music Maisha needs to make in her career.

Penzilla — “Glass Of Sunshine”

This record plays around the 43:48 mark as Darnell & Jada, Shaad & Deja, and Marcus & Tierra gather for dinner at Darnell and Jada’s house. It’s an awkward moment due to Tierra and Shaad quick moment of love from Valentine’s Day. This creates some tension at the table, but the crew eventually sets it aside to enjoy some food.

Gavin Williams — “War Is Not Final Now”

We hear this song in the background around the 46:27 mark as Douda and his love interest Bianca (played by Jill Marie Jones from Girlfriends) have a conversation about who could be next in line to assume the position in command after Douda. Shaad soon makes a visit to potentially work for Douda again, but he later leaves as the task is too dangerous for his liking.

Crystal — “Down At The Cross (Glory To His Name)”

Lastly, around the 54:24 mark, this plays as Papa’s dad finishes a sermon in church that was seemingly directed at Douda who sits in the crowd. This could mean trouble for Papa’s dad as Douda instructs Nuk to “take care of him.”

Blackpink Reminds Everyone That ‘The Girls’ Aren’t The Ones To Mess With

Blackpink is taking over the world. Over the past year, the K-Pop girl group has released their second album, Born Pink, played Coachella, and were named as inductees in the Asian Hall Of Fame. The song arrives as part of the soundtrack to their mobile video game, titled Blackpink The Game. An in-game version of the music video premiered earlier this week, ahead of the song’s wide release.

Conan Gray No Longer Cares To Be The ‘Winner’ On His New Single

Conan Gray isn’t holding back in this new era. On his new song, “Winner,” the Gen-Z pop star is letting go of someone who hurt him.

Over a melancholy piano, Gray expresses that he is finished trying to prove his worth to someone who has caused him a great deal of pain, and he declares this person the “winner” of a game he no longer wishes to play.

“The only thing you’ve proven / Is that there’s no one who ever has done better / At making me feel worse / Now you really are the winner,” sings Gray on the song’s chorus.

The song comes as a collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin, though Gray wrote the lyrics entirely by himself.

“I wrote this song at 2am,” said Gray in a statement. “Everything at the piano just spilled out all at once. It was a moment where I finally felt like, ‘Fine. great job. You did it. You hurt me more than anybody ever could hurt me,’ and it oddly felt nice. I see now that there is a certain freedom that comes from recognizing that you’ve been hurt. in no longer running, and just facing the fact that ‘you win. You hurt me.’ I hope this song helps people find a little piece of that freedom.”

An Incomplete List Of Athletes With The Same Measurements As Donald Trump, Who Said He Was 6’3 And 215 Pounds

Former president Donald Trump turned himself in to Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday night, as he faces a number of charges as part of a large RICO case against those who tried to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.

While all of that figures to be a very long trial process that won’t conclude any time soon, in the immediate everyone wanted to see a couple of things. One was Trump’s mugshot, which took a bit (and had a fake going around) but did finally hit the internet and got passed around social media alongside plenty of jokes. The second was Trump’s listed height and weight, as he had to self-report his measurements to the jail log and somehow landed on 6’3, 215 pounds.

Now, anyone who has seen Trump knows that is an aggressively flattering weight, but unfortunately the folks at the jail don’t put you through a full combine measurement process when you get booked, so we won’t know the real thing. That said, we can take a look through a sports lens at what a 6’3, 215 pound person looks like and compare that to what the recently incarcerated former president looks like and have a little bit of fun. I also must stress that we have literally done this same thing before, back in 2018 when he claimed to be 6’3, 239 pounds, meaning in the last five years he is apparently down 24 pounds from an already questionable weight claim.

Without further ado, an incomplete list of athletes from the NBA and NFL boasting similar measurements as Donald Trump:

Reggie Jackson: 6’2, 208 pounds
Cam Thomas: 6’3, 210 pounds
Eric Gordon: 6’3, 215 pounds
John Wall: 6’3, 210 pounds
Victor Oladipo: 6’3, 213 pounds
Buddy Hield: 6’4, 220 pounds
Anthony Edwards: 6’4, 225 pounds
Gary Harris: 6’4, 210 pounds
Jamal Murray: 6’4, 215 pounds
Josh Hart: 6’4, 215 pounds
Marcus Smart: 6’4, 220 pounds

NFL

Lamar Jackson: 6’2, 215 pounds
Colt McCoy: 6’1, 212 pounds
Joe Mixon: 6’1, 220 pounds
Joe Burrow: 6’4, 215 pounds
Aaron Rodgers: 6’2, 223 pounds
Jalen Ramsey: 6’1, 208 pounds
Jalen Hurts: 6’1, 223 pounds
A.J. Brown: 6’1, 226 pounds
Fred Warner: 6’3, 230 pounds
Keenan Allen: 6’2, 211 pounds
Derwin James: 6’2, 215 pounds

As you can see, Donald Trump is basically the same size as a point guard or a smaller quarterback (or, glass half full, a bigger defensive back). Sure!

Donald Trump’s Long-Anticipated Mugshot Just Dropped, And People Have Thoughts (And Jokes)

What a week it’s been so far in MAGA land. Rudy Giuliani saw the last of his remaining “America’s Mayor” goodwill slide into the Ninth Circle of Hell while posing for a mugshot. By now, Jenna Ellis, Sidney Powell, and the rest of the most ridiculous rogues’ gallery ever have joined suit, and now, it’s King MAGA’s turn in front of the camera.

On Thursday, Donald Trump turned himself into the Fulton County jail on an assortment of RICO-based charges. He waited long enough in the day to surrender to make this a primetime event of sorts at 7:30pm EST. Trump did sit out of this week’s GOP debate, but he couldn’t avoid being “ARRESTED,” as he described in all-caps, because he cannot resist.

Regardless, hey, here’s the first presidential mugshot in U.S. history. Congrats to 45 for this unprecedented entry into the history books.

As people awaited the mugshot, they got a bit creative and full of Kenergy. Yep, fake mugshots surfaced. Trump also got to self-report his own weight, which is lame as hell, man. However, the real mugshot produced many, many jokes.

As well, here’s footage of Trump stepping off the runway in Atlanta, courtesy of CNN.

There’s been quite a buildup to this momentous event, and DA Fani Willis didn’t feel like slipping this step like with the first three sets of criminal charges. Four indictments. So much winning.

The World Couldn’t Wait For A Real Trump Mugshot, So A Fake One Went Incredibly Viral (Along With A Few More)

On Thursday evening, ex-President Donald Trump turned himself into the Fulton County jail on a buffet of indictment charges including some RICO whoppers. He spoke of this as though it was a primetime event, which is probably why he waited until 7:30pm EST to show up. Mind you, Trump decided to sit out this week’s Fox News GOP debate in favor of a low-energy Tucker Carlson interview, but Trump couldn’t sit out being “ARRESTED” in all-caps, of course.

Trump landed in Atlanta shortly before go time, and he was at his destination in a jiffy. He was booked and had a mugshot taken like any “normal” defendant, but of course, there was some special treatment. Trump was allowed to self-report his own weight, which was definitely not accurate.

As people awaited the official historic mugshot, they got a bit creative and full of Kenergy. Yep, fake mugshots surfaced. As you can see above, however, Trump was wearing a solid red tie, not a blue-and-red striped one as shown below.

It’s a pretty damn good photoshop job, but sadly, not real.

If the real one surfaces, the world will certainly be all over it, too. Looks like it will be reserved for some Friday fun.
