Boosie Badazz fans are in shock following a tragic incident. Early yesterday morning (March 10), gun shots abruptly put an end to the “Black Rain” rapper’s recent performance.

On Sunday, March 9, Boosie was scheduled to make an appearance at Akron, Ohio’s local nightclub, Field House Lounge. According to reports, his mini set during the official The Millennium Tour after party was abruptly ended after a shooting took place leaving three injured.

Cleveland 19 News reports that after a heated confrontation from patrons within the establishment things quickly escalated, which resulted in three eventgoers being shot–two critically.

Although local law enforcement are still gathering details surrounding the matter, Akron police confirm that around 2 a.m. yesterday morning an off-duty officer in the arm called the incident in. After cops arrived they discovered the unnamed gun shot victims– one 18-year-old man, a 25-year-old man, and a 36-year-old man.

Both the 18-year-old man and 36-year-old man victim were immediately taken to the nearby hospital for treatment. They’re currently being listed in critical condition. While the third victim (25-year-old man) was treated by medical professionals sources say it was for a non-life threatening grazing.

A suspect was not identified at the scene. But Akron Police said are hoping that witnesses will come forward. The Akron Police Department Detective Bureau has directed attendees to contact their tip line at 330-375-2490.

Boosie Badazz has not yet released a public statement regarding the incident.

Mexico-based Latin music festival Baja Beach Fest returns to Rosarito Beach for 2025 on August 8-10, with a lineup headlined by Don Omar, J Balvin, and Maluma. Tickets for the festival — which has become the premiere music festival for contemporary música latina, including reggaeton, Latin trap, and more — go on sale Thursday, March 13 at 12 PM PT.

In addition to the headliners, who are all huge stars even outside the Spanish-speaking world, the lineup also features newcomers and rising stars who have been making their names over the past five years of the fest’s existence. They include Brazilian pop singer Anitta, Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko, Venezuelan singer Danny Ocean, Puerto Rican rapper Myke Towers, Latin trap pioneer Arcangel, reggaeton star Wisin, and Mexican corridero Tito Double P.

Established in 2019, the Baja Beach Fest has grown in esteem and demand over the past five years (skipping 2020, of course). In 2021, Balvin headlined for the first time alongside Anuel AA and Ozuna. Anuel returned in 2022 with Daddy Yankee and Farruko, then both Balvin and Ozuna joined the Chicago expansion in 2023, accompanied by Wisin Y Yandel. The 2023 fest in Rosarito hosted Wisin Y Yandel, as well as Ozuna, Feid, and Don Omar. Last year was the most diverse lineup yet, with Kali Uchis and Peso Pluma.

Måneskin is perhaps the biggest Italian musical export of the past half-decade, and now leader Damiano David is looking the ride the momentum into a solo career: Today (March 11), he announced his debut solo album, Funny Little Fears.

I’ve been afraid of darkness, an immensity I don’t get to see or understand, that might take me if I don’t watch my steps. I’ve been afraid of myself, asking for too much, chasing something I didn’t even know if I really wanted. And honestly sometimes I’m still scared, but I wrote myself a manual. Hope u find it helpful too. I called it Funny Little Fears. With love – Damiano.”

The album features previously released singles “Born With A Broken Heart, “Silverlines,” and “Next Summer.”

SZA Wanted To Appear On ‘Club Shay Shay,’ But Changed Her Mind After A ‘Tacky’ BBL Question For Another Guest

sza

Ah, BBLs, the evergreen hot topic of podcasters and reality show mavens fishing for viral hits. The “Brazilian butt lift” has generated plenty of discourse since being popularized over the last decade and a half by rappers and pop culture commentators — and not all of it good.

A recent BBL question asked by Shannon Sharpe on his podcast Club Shay Shay may have cost him a big-name guest in SZA, who deemed his untimely query to fellow singer Coco Jones “tacky,” and noted it made her change her mind about being a guest on the show.

The interview was posted two weeks ago, but the show’s social team has been posting clips as recently as five days ago, all with the sorts of salacious titles designed to prompt internet users’ lizard brains to click. One such clip revolved around the above-mentioned BBL question.

“Recently, SZA came out and said she regretted getting a BBL,” Sharpe noted. “Have you talked to anyone that regret it, like, ‘Whatever you do, don’t do this?’” While Coco handled the question adroitly, offering an opposing perspective, SZA clocked the clip, calling out the host in the comments on Instagram.

“Lmaooo now why would this be a question for coco,” she wrote. “Poor baby she handled it well now Shay Shay.” In a separate comment, she also wrote, “Incredibly tacky .. I wanted to come here too, dah well.”

The question was prompted by SZA’s own response to a similar inquiry in a British Vogue interview. “I’m so mad I did that sh*t,” she admitted. “I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid. But who gives a f*ck. You got a BBL, you realize you didn’t need that sh*t. It doesn’t matter.”

Let that be a lesson to you aspiring journalists out there; controversy may sell, but you’ll never know what opportunities courting controversy could cost you in the long run.

The xx Have Yet Again Teased A New Album And Shared Photos Of All Three Members In The Studio

jamie xx
Getty Image

A few days ago, The xx shared some studio photos on Instagram, writing, “Last week, in the studio.”

The band hasn’t announced a new album, but their next LP would be their first in a very long time, since 2017’s I See You. However, as fans know, this is far from the first time the band has teased new music in recent years.

In late 2019, they seemingly indicated new music was on the way in 2020. In 2021, the group shared some studio footage, again suggesting new material was in the works. In 2022, the band’s Oliver Sim declared, “Nothing is recorded at the moment, but there is more music from The xx, definitely.”

In 2024, Romy Madley Croft said in an interview, “It’s quite different being back in the studio with The xx. I think Oliver and Jamie and I have all tried new things and have learned a lot from the different projects, and I think that’s quite healthy to be like, ‘What have you learned? What should we do now?’ I think it’s wide open, and it feels exciting to sort of be starting again in a way.”

The band did actually deliver a sort-of reunion last year, with Croft and Sim featured on Jamie xx’s “Waited All Night.”

Will There Be A ‘Toxic Town’ Season 2?

toxic-town-1-lg
Netflix

A new Netflix has hit their Top 10 charts and is generating serious discussion with comparisons to the “British Erin Brockovich.” That would be Toxic Town, which co-stars The White Lotus third-season standout Aimee Lou Wood and Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who) as two mothers of young children who grow ill (that being an understatement) immediately upon birth.

These ladies and their children are part of a mounting list of victims of the real-life Corby poisonings. The duo bands together with other mothers (all living in the same town within Northamptonshire, England) in pursuit of justice for their children who were disabled within an environmental catastrophe. The season gathered up over 17 million streaming hours, which isn’t too shabby for a series without hefty promotion. Word of mouth of (in the words of Netflix’s description) “a David and Goliath battle for justice” has also helped. At only four episodes, though, the series (albeit grueling) was almost over before it started.

Will There Be A Toxic Town Season 2?

This doesn’t seem likely, given that the show wrapped up the fates of these battling mothers. Further, Netflix hasn’t spoken on the subject, although it’s fair to guess that since Corby isn’t the only “toxic town” on the globe, an anthologized approach could be the subject of (alleged) discussions. Netflix did quote Brockovich after she watched the series:

“I’ve just watched this play itself out for 30 years in my work, over and over again. It’s important to be there. It’s important to feel and understand what somebody else is going through. You become a support for each other. When I began my work, I could feel that with the people. And it’s very obvious that’s what happened with Des and his community. And the cycle continues to repeat.”

With that said, no news of a second season exists, but Toxic Town is currently streaming in full on Netflix, and you can watch the trailer below.

Lady Gaga Distilled Two Of Her Big New Pop Songs For Terrific Acoustic Performances On ‘Howard Stern’

Lady Gaga SNL 50 2025 Peacock (1024x437)
Peacock

Lady Gaga has recorded plenty of music that’s decidedly traditional in its instrumentation, most notably her two albums with the late Tony Bennett. However, her latest project, Mayhem, is not one of them, as it’s a full-blown, electronic-leaning pop album. The songs aren’t ones you hear and immediately think about how they’d sound in a stripped-back performance with piano or acoustic guitar.

But, at the core of Gaga’s songs are rock-solid songwriting, which she demonstrated on The Howard Stern Show today (March 11), with acoustic performances of Mayhem highlights “Abracadabra” and “Perfect Celebrity” (the performances can be heard here). Gaga turned the latter into a piano ballad and gave the latter a guitar-based arrangement.

This comes amid an especially busy period for Gaga, which has seen her make a bevy of public appearances to hype up Mayhem. She did Hot Ones, showed up for the SNL50 anniversary celebrations, announced a potentially massive concert in Brazil, and was the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

In a recent Zane Lowe interview, Gaga emotionally reflected on her pre-fame life, saying, “I just had no idea what was going to happen, and I’m really grateful that it did, but what I value when I think about this time is not what it gave to me in my career, but the endless memories. The memories were so powerful here, and that will just be in my heart forever.”

‘Murderbot’: Everything To Know About Alexander Skarsgård As A Not-Sexy, Soap-Opera Loving Android (March 2025 Update)

alexander-skarsgard-arms-lg
Getty Image

Apple TV+ cannot and will not stop their ascension to sci-fi streaming supremacy. From For All Mankind (and upcoming spin off Star City) and The Gorge to Silo and of course Severance, dare we say that the tech giant’s streaming service has grown more prolific than Paramount Plus (home of Star Trek)? Somehow, that’s the case, and nobody seems to be complaining. Let’s talk about how Apple TV+ will soon roll out an adaptation of a beloved and acclaimed series of books by Martha Wells.

Release Date

This one snuck up on the world in a good way. Murderbot will premiere on May 16, 2025 with two episodes followed by weekly drops. That will culminate with a 10-episode season to end on July 11.

Plot

Apple TV+

If you thought Silo (from showrunner Graham Yost) was an ambitious, worldbuilding adaptation, then Murderbot will throw down the gauntlet on a different note with a key change. That is to say, the leading actor throws off expectations by being objectively sexy in contrast to, you know, the character that The Murderbot Diaries readers know and love. Without the helmet, that “sexy” from Alexander Skarsgård cannot be suppressed.

Apple TV+

With that said, this show will indeed be based upon The Murderbot Diaries, a 7-edition series (of full-length books and novellas) that snagged a Hugo Award and a Nebula Award in addition to hitting the New York Times bestseller list. It might go without saying that expectations loom large, but as not only a sci-fi thriller but also a work of comedy, but the undeniable physical allure of a Skarsgård truly could be an issue. That will be a fine line to walk since the Murderbot (or SecUnit) is referred to as “it” by other characters in the books and is commonly regarded by fans as nonbinary or gender-less. Murderbot probably won’t be thinking about this too much, though, because bingewatching will be their main concern. Really:

“Murderbot” is an action-packed sci-fi series, based on the award-winning books by Wells, about a self-hacking security android who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable “clients.” Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.

The Murderbot Diaries books are laden with the title character’s dry-humored, first-person narration, which should be a treat, and perhaps some clues will roll out when cast interviews begin along with more insight from executive producers, directors and writers Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz.

Skarsgård, for his part, appears to relish this role and skipped out on glitzy parties to get his head back in the game for resumed filming as “an android who has hacked his system so he’s got – or it’s got – free will, and it’s talking about going on these crazy adventures, but instead it’s watching soap operas.” He called the series “a blast,” so fingers will be crossed for multiple seasons.

Cast

Skarsgård’s TV-obsessed robot will be accompanied by David Dastmalchian (Late Night With The Devil) as Gurathin, an adorable, augmented human who tends to mess with Murderbot. This duo will be joined by Sabrina Wu (as Pin-Lee), Tattiawna Jones (as Arada), Tamara Podemski (as Bharadwaj), and Akshay Khanna (as Ratthi).

Trailer

Since no Murderbot trailer exists yet, why not relive the unpredictable opening moments of Prime Video/Amazon’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith?

These New Puritans Enlist Caroline Polacheck For ‘Industrial Love Song’ From Their Upcoming Album

These New Puritans are back with their first new album in six years. The art-rock duo of twin brothers Jack and George Barnett have announced that Crooked Wing is coming out on May 23, and it will feature contributions from jazz double-bassist Chris Laurence and pop auteur Caroline Polachek.

Crooked Wing is preceded by gorgeous singles “Bells” and “Industrial Love Song,” which Jack called “a duet between two cranes on a building site. Caroline sings the part of one crane, I sing the other; they can’t touch (their movements are controlled by the operator), but when the sun rises they hope that their shadows will cross. I like how the title George came up with misdirects expectations – it’s not that kind of industrial.”

He continued, “As we exit the mechanical age, you realize how much we have in common with our machines, how human they are. Suddenly it didn’t feel so absurd to write a love song from their perspective.”

You can listen to “Industrial Love Song” above and “Bells” here, while the Crooked Wing album cover artwork and tracklist are below.

It can come in the form of rock music, pop, or folk. In a sense, it says as much about the people that are drawn to it as it does about the people that make it.

Every week, Uproxx is rounding up the best new indie music from the past seven days. This week, we got new music from Car Seat Headrest, Yeule, Destroyer, and more.

Yeule – “Skullcrusher”

Nat Ćmiel is something of a painter. As Yeule, the Singaporean songwriter has used each record as a canvas, filtering their personae through glitch-pop, ambient, and, most recently on 2023’s Softscars, digital shoegaze. On the forthcoming Evangelical Girl With A Gun, Ćmiel conceptualizes themselves as, fittingly, “the painter,” taking cues from the Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński and morphing their idiosyncrasies into darkly entrancing sonic portraits. “Skullcrusher,” which accompanies the announcement, points toward flirtations with trip-hop and goth-rock. Like their previous work, “Skullcrusher” simultaneously cements Yeule’s artistic footprint while treading novel territories.

Car Seat Headrest – “Gethsemane”

Who better to revive the rock opera than Car Seat Headrest? Frontman Will Toledo, famous for writing excellent 10-plus-minute indie-rock songs, has written yet another excellent 10-plus-minute indie-rock song, “Gethsemane.” This time, though, it’s situated within the larger context of The Scholars, which is billed as a concept record set at the fictitious campus Parnassus University. It’s the college where Rosa studies medicine, and she eventually resuscitates a dead patient and, in turn, gains supernatural powers that have lain dormant since her childhood. It’s a dizzying narrative, appropriately ambitious for the band’s first new album since 2020’s Making A Door Less Open. “Gethsemane,” with its epic sprawl, is merely one chapter of the story.

Destroyer – “Cataract Time”

When you see that a Destroyer song is eight minutes long, you know it’s gonna be good. Such is the case with “Cataract Time,” the penultimate cut from the marvelously titled Dan’s Boogie, which is out later this month. John Collins’ harp adds a hypnotizing, celestial quality to Dan Bejar’s universe, making it sound like a Destroyer guest spot on Sufjan Stevens’ Carrie & Lowell. But that’s all before the luxe saxophones come in, reminding you that this is, first and foremost, a Bejar-run production.

Illuminati Hotties – “777”

Sarah Tudzin has hit another jackpot. Following last year’s excellent LP, Power, the Illuminati Hotties mastermind is back with a new single, “777.” Whereas Power is far gentler than IH’s typical tender-punk, “777” dials up the noise, albeit in a much different way than usual. Tudzin’s latest is a bona fide shoegaze song that resembles a punchier take on Loveless. Apparently, there’s nothing that Tudzin can’t do!

Fantasy Of A Broken Heart – “We Confront The Demon In Mysterious Ways”

Who doesn’t love a song title that’s a complete sentence? “We Confront The Demon In Mysterious Ways,” the lead single of Fantasy Of A Broken Heart’s forthcoming EP, resumes the oddball indie-prog of the duo’s debut, Feats Of Engineering. But, whereas Bailey Wollowitz and Al Nardo gallivant through fittingly dreamy landscapes on their full-length, its follow-up EP, Chaos Practitioner, is the drowsy awakening process. “We Confront The Demon…” resembles the half-asleep, half-alert state following REM, both the band and the brain activity. It’s lyrically confrontational, but its instrumentals are steeped in enough eccentricity to warrant the question of whether it all resembles reality or fantasy. Perhaps, it’s a bit of both.

YHWH Nailgun – “Animal Death Already Breathing”

There are a lot of noise-rock bands that find solace in the sprawl: droning guitar tone; blasts of discordant noise that slowly unfurl; vocals that don’t come in until the third minute. Then there’s YHWH Nailgun, whose tempestuous, frenzied outbursts are contained within the limits of three minutes maximum, threatening to break free from their constrictions at any given moment. The Brooklyn four-piece, on the precipice of their debut album, 45 Pounds, make adventurous music that flashes by at the speed of light. “Animal Death Already Breathing,” for instance, traverses 5/4 polyrhythms, clattering industrial percussion, and howling chants within the span of little more than 120 seconds. “Animal Death Already Breathing” is a showcase for how YHWH Nailgun packs suite-worthy ideas into impressively concise packages.

Phil Cook – “Buffalo”

Phil Cook is one of indie rock’s most prolific musicians, having performed on songs by Waxahatchee, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Bon Iver, and plenty more. But he’s also an artist in his own right. Appalachia Borealis, a forthcoming collection of piano instrumentals, is his latest solo endeavor in a storied career. “Buffalo” pays homage to Cook’s loved ones who live in the titular city. Paring down his artistry to its barest components, “Buffalo” unveils Cook’s majestic talents through disarming simplicity. Let Phil cook.

Mei Semones – “I Can Do What I Want”

Mei Semones can do whatever she wants, and she does. Blending bossa nova, math rock, and jangle-pop, the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter’s predilection for combining virtuosic performances and memorable melodies remains unmatched. On her appropriately named single, “I Can Do What I Want,” Semones and her band weave their way through a vertiginous maze of frenetic strings, modulated time signatures, and ‘90s alt-rock guitars. She proves that, not only does she do whatever she wants, but also that she should.

Kelcey Ayer – “Different Planets”

The former Local Natives vocalist is back. Kelcey Ayer, who has previously shared music under the moniker Jaws Of Love., has decided to move forward with a project using his own name. As Ayer’s second-ever solo single, “Different Planets” unearths another side of the songwriter. Combining flamenco guitars, cooing vocal harmonies, and handclaps right on the downbeat, “Different Planets” presents Ayer in a fascinating new light. There’s certainly something more up his sleeve.

DJ Koze – “Brushtaxi”

Amid an electronic landscape dominated by soulless, interchangeable DJs and EDM producer duos, DJ Koze’s work is a balm. The German producer and synth savant’s take on electronic music is a genre-bending kaleidoscope that’s at once stupefying and divine. It’s like realizing that Elysium is simply a place where an auteur turns all the right knobs and incorporates all the right samples. “Brushtaxi,” the latest preview of next month’s Music Can Hear Us, turns that scenario into reality once again. It’s an instrumental, eight-and-a-half-minute Odyssey, a journey into paradise where the beats reign supreme and the dancefloor never empties.
