FKA Twigs Confirms A New Album, ‘Eusexua Afterglow,’ Is On The Way

At the top of 2025, FKA Twigs released her latest album, Eusexua. She apparently has more to say on that front. A month ago, she released a new single, “Perfectly,” her first new music since the album. Now, there’s a whole new project on the way.

On stage at Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands, Twigs announced a new album, saying, “New music — I am full and abundant and ready to give birth. Her name is Afterglow. And my labor shall commence next month.”

Per a representative, the project isn’t a deluxe edition of Eusexua, but a new album in its own right. The full title of the album is Eusexua Afterglow.

Twigs hinted at a new era when initially announcing “Perfectly,” writing on social media, “and so the offerings begin again… if EUSEXUA was the tip of the tongue, PERFECTLY is the oesophagus… i wonder what lays in the belly of the beast.” She also previously mentioned “DELUXUA,” suggesting that a deluxe edition of the album was on the way. That was presumably in reference to Eusexua Afterglow, which, again, isn’t a deluxe edition, but a new standalone album.

Eusexua Afterglow doesn’t currently have an announced release date or a confirmed tracklist.

Tyler, The Creator Gets An Assist From Ayo Edebiri, Nia Long, And More In His New ‘Darling, I’ Video

Tyler, The Creator (the guy from Marty Supreme, yes) is still soaking in the Don’t Tap The Glass era since the album’s release a little less than a month ago. He has spent much of the post-album period pumping out eye-grabbing videos and today (August 19), he has another one, for “Darling, I.”

For the colorful visual, Tyler gets some key assists via appearances from Nia Long, Ayo Edebiri, Willow, Teezo Touchdown, Lionel Boyce, and Lauren London, among others.

Tyler recently said of his mindset behind the new album, “Chromakopia was so… I’m not saying it’s the most mature, deep sh*t. But whether it’s me talking about my relationship with my hair and how that’s affected me, or me almost being a father last year, or the relationship that I have with my father now, just so many things that I decided to dive deep into. After the weight of that got off, I just wanted to be silly again. I just want to be fun and say outrageous sh*t and say sh*t that… inside jokes that me and my friends laugh at, and just talk big fly sh*t. That was the goal. That was the main 100-percent goal.”

Don’t Tap The Glass is out now via Columbia Records. Find more information here.

Wednesday Continue To Tease ‘Bleeds’ With ‘Bitter Everyday’ And A New Video

Wednesday took a year off from releasing a new album following 2023’s Rat Saw God, but they’re returning here in 2025. They recently announced Bleeds and we’ve heard some advance tastes of it so far. Ahead of the project’s September release, the band has unveiled another new single, “Bitter Everyday.”

The group’s Karly Hartzman says of the song:

“‘Bitter Everyday’ is a song formed around my desperate desire to tell the story about how in 2019 this lady came up on our porch at like 3 in the morning when Jake and our friend Andrew were out there drinking and playing guitar. She asked them if she could sing them a song she had written, she had an incredible voice. They recorded a voice note of it and showed it to me the next morning when I woke up. I knew which lady it was, she was a houseless person who walked around the downtown area a lot. Weeks later, I was walking home from work and I saw a photo of her on a telephone pole. It was an old mug shot of her, and she was done up in juggalo makeup. The description on the paper said she was wanted for murder. The chorus is an homage to Iris DeMent’s song ‘Easy’s Gettin’ Harder Everyday.’”

Hartzman also previously said of the album, “Bleeds is the spiritual successor to Rat Saw God, and I think the quintessential ‘Wednesday Creek Rock’ album. This is what Wednesday songs are supposed to sound like. We’ve devoted a lot of our lives to figuring this out — and I feel like we did.”

Coldplay Vows To Keep Doing Their Audience Cam After The Viral CEO Affair Incident: ‘Life Throws You Lemons’

Coldplay "Music of the Spheres" World Tour - Perth
Getty Image

Coldplay is a long-running band with a good handful of songs that have racked up over a billion streams on Spotify. Despite that, their biggest brush with notoriety over the past month has been when the now-former CEO of data operations startup Astronomer was caught having an affair with one of his employees, when they were shown together on screens at Coldplay’s Boston concert.

For those planning on having an affair in public, shy away from doing it at a Coldplay concert, because the band doesn’t plan to stop highlighting its audience.

Kicking off a run of UK shows in Hull yesterday (August 18), Chris Martin said (as NME notes), “We are so happy to be here. Many of you have written signs. So, I’ll take some time to try and read some signs. Then we’ll see what happens. First of all [that sign reads:] ‘three times in three months’… You were at that Boston gig! Well, OK, thank you for coming again after that debacle.”

He added, “We’ve been doing this a long time, and it is only recently that it became a… yeah. Life throws you lemons and you’ve got to make lemonade. So, we are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you.”

Florence + The Machine Announce ‘Everybody Scream,’ A New Album With An Appropriate Release Date

Florence Welch Machine 2023
Getty Image

Last week, Florence + The Machine shared a teaser video. In it, Florence Welch vigorously digs a hole in the ground, and when she’s done, she looks into it and starts screaming her head off as she stares down the barrel of the camera.

The video was clearly meant to ramp fans up for something, and now we know what: Today (August 19), the group announced a new album. It’s called, appropriately, Everybody Scream. There’s no advance single yet, but the group did share the album cover, featuring an open-legged Welch looking at the camera. The project is set to come out this Halloween, October 31.

There’s no tracklist yet, but the product pages from the band’s online store note it will have 12 tracks.

Welch perhaps foreshadowed the project in a 2022 interview with British Vogue, Welch said, “I feel like as a female artist, you spend a lot of time screaming into the void for people to take you seriously, in a way that male artists just don’t have to do. [I was] so tired of trying to prove myself to people who are never going to get it.”

Check out the Everybody Scream cover art below.

Joyce Manor Return After Three Years Away With The Jangly New Single ‘All My Friends Are So Depressed’

Punk-rock favorites Joyce Manor are back: The group hadn’t released new music in three years, but they changed that today (August 18) with “All My Friends Are So Depressed.” The band cites The Smiths as one of the inspirations behind the song, and it’s easy to hear that.

The band’s Barry Johnson says in a statement:

“The first line I came up with for this song was ‘lord above in a Tecate truck’ after passing a Tecate delivery truck with Jesus sh*t all over it on the freeway driving back to Long Beach after a show in Fresno. While searching for a line that rhymed with ‘lord above in a Tecate truck’ I came up with ‘why even exist? Who gives a f*ck!?’ and the concept of ‘All My Friends Are So Depressed’ was born. It’s kind of my take on what I imagine Lana Del Rey lyrics are like. Instead of icy, detached cool 50’s Americana, it’s all dirty shag carpet, bong rips, Peter Frampton Comes Alive, key lime pie and suicidal ideations. My flow was inspired by 100 Gecs who I was listening to a concerning amount in 2023 (Much respect to Dylan and Laura, please take us on tour). Musically, we were drawing from The Libertines, Tiger Army, X, and The Smiths… obviously.”

Watch the “All My Friends Are So Depressed” video above and find Joyce Manor’s upcoming tour dates below.

All The Best New Music From This Week That You Need To Hear

bnm
Getty Image/Derrick Rossignol

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.

This week saw Cardi B with a rare new song and Chance The Rapper also make a big comeback. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.

For more music recommendations, check out our Listen To This section, as well as our Indie Mixtape newsletter.

Cardi B — “Imaginary Playerz”

New Cardi B tunes have been relatively rare as fans wait for her long-overdue second album. She delivered last week, though, with “Imaginary Playerz,” which borrows from Jay-Z’s “Imaginary Player” but adds a modernized twist.

Steve Lacy — “Nice Shoes”

Lacy had a chart-topping hit with “Bad Habit” three years ago, then he pretty much went silent. He’s back now, though, with news of a new album and the single “Nice Shoes,” which boldly starts, “If I had a dollar for the friends I would f*ck / I could buy a pair of really nice shoes.”

Chance The Rapper — “No More Old Men”

For a while, it was unclear when Chance’s project Star Line would arrive, but last week, it finally did. Some have hailed it as a return to form and he did it with help along the way, like from Jamila Woods on “No More Old Men.”

ASAP Rocky — “Trunks”

Rocky has his acting hat on at the moment with his new movie Highest 2 Lowest. He’s not leaving the music behind here, though, as he just dropped two new songs from the soundtrack.

Dijon — “Baby!”

After contributing to Bon Iver’s new album SABLE, fABLE and Justin Bieber’s Swag earlier this year, Dijon is putting himself in the spotlight with a new album, Baby. The title track is a good reference for the diversity and adventurousness of the project as a whole.

Kaytranada — “Do It! (Again!)” Feat. TLC

Kaytranada pulled so strongly from a TLC song on Ain’t No Damn Way!, his new album, that he went ahead and gave the group a feature credit for the sample. So, it’s not a full-blown collaboration, sadly, but it’s still a hell of a time.

Conan Gray — “Caramel”

After two years of “secretly writing songs” “after shows in the basements of the venues, in the sheets of my hotel beds, in narrow gaps between tours,” Conan Gray’s new album Wishbone has arrived. It’s led by soaring and dramatic tunes like the latest single, “Caramel.”

Kenny Beats and Archie Madekwe — “Love And Obsession”

The movie Lurker is a look at the music industry in Los Angeles, so having Kenny Beats doing the score is a tremendous asset. So too, it turns out, is star Archie Madekwe, who plays an artist in the movie and sounds great on soundtrack cuts like “Love And Obsession.”

Ashnikko — “Trinkets”

Smoochies, the latest album from Ashnikko, is on the way. The artist describes the project as “sexy, playful, and feminine, while toeing the line of grotesque and absurd,” and the “older sister” of her Demidevil project.

King Princess — “Girls”

Girl Violence is coming: We’re less than a month away from King Princess’ new album. She continued to tease the project last week with a new single, the retro-flavored slow-burner “Girls.”

Hayley Williams Is Feeling Bummed In Her New ‘Glum’ Video

Paramore leader Hayley Williams just released a new solo album… but only sort of. No, she doesn’t have an actual new album out, but at the start of this month, she did release 17 singles all at once.

Since the grand unveiling, Williams has gone back and given some tracks more individual attention, like the singles they are. She started with an “Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party” video a couple weeks back, and now she has another visual out, this time for “Glum.”

The song is largely about being bummed and the video reflects that. Williams sings, “Do you ever feel so alone / That you could implode and no one would know? / And when you look around and nobody’s home / Don’t you wanna go back to wherever we’re from? / To wherever we’re from.”

Meanwhile, in a recent Dork interview, Williams discussed how she’s feeling about her and Paramore’s career right now, saying, “There are days that I feel old and washed up, there are days that I’m on top of the world and there are moments that make all the attention scary, because what if we can’t live up to it? […] We’ve spent years not fitting in, and that’s always triggered my loser complex from being a weird homeschooled kid, but the important thing is learning how to not get defensive with that underdog mentality.”

Sabrina Carpenter had a huge night at last year’s MTV VMAs, performing a three-song medley (“Please Please Please,” “Taste,” and “Espresso)” and winning Song Of The Year for “Espresso.” She’s set to have a major ceremony this time around, too: At the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, she has eight nominations and is once again set to perform.

Joining her on the performance lineup so far are Alex Warren, Busta Rhymes, J Balvin (featuring DJ Snake), Ricky Martin, and Sombr, with more artists to be announced as the big night approaches, as Billboard notes. It’s coming up, set to broadcast live coast-to-coast from UBS Arena in New York on September 7 at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT). LL COOL J is also hosting, after co-hosting with Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow in 2022.

Meanwhile, Carpenter’s “Manchild” is up for the big honor: Video Of The Year, as are Ariana Grande’s “Brighter Days Ahead,” Billie Eilish’s “Birds Of A Feather,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s “Die With A Smile,” Rosé and Bruno Mars’s “APT.,” and The Weeknd and Playboi Carti’s “Timeless.” Elsewhere in the list of this year’s nominations, Warren and Sombr are both nominated for the coveted Best New Artist.
