Ty Dolla Sign Will Have ‘More Motion Less Emotion’ On His North American Tour With Leon Thomas And Symba

Fresh off of appearances on albums from 03 Greedo and Larry June, Ty Dolla Sign has announced his More Motion Less Emotion Tour, which kicks off in September and runs through October. Although he hasn’t announced an album to go along with it yet, there’s plenty of time between now and then for a rollout. Fortunately, the late summer/early fall start date allows him plenty of time to recover from his skateboarding accident last year.

He’ll be joined on tour by singer Leon Thomas, whose album was so good it prompted Ty to redo his own, and rapper Symba, who had a bit of a breakout last year thanks to his DJ Drama-produced Gangsta Grillz mixtape and a standout Tiny Desk Concert. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 23 at 10 am. You can find more information here.

Kanye West’s Rejected ‘A Little Inappropriate’ HBO Pilot Has Been Leaked In Full And Has People Talking

The year was 2007, and Kanye West was pitching to have a comedy show on HBO. Titled A Little Inappropriate, it reportedly pulled inspiration from the platform’s other popular shows, including Entourage (which West guest-starred in) and Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Now, the full pilot for West’s once-planned show is making the rounds online, after a user uploaded it to YouTube reportedly from Seinfeld writer Larry Charles’ now-private Vimeo account. The episode’s plot centers around West discovering a Make-A-Wish child is no longer sick.

The cast included Curb‘s JB Smoove and Jeff Garlin, Wyatt Cenac, Kym Whitley, Don C, and GLC, according to Vibe. Cenac previously shared the full pilot back in 2013 at one of his shows, which led to him doing an interview with Vulture about West and the scrapped project.

Over the years, since at least 2008, clips had also made their way online.

“I figured if I did it as a surprise, I don’t think HBO could do anything but keep me out of HBO shows,” Cenac said at the time.

Reportedly, West had taken private improv lessons specifically for it.

“Kanye knew he wasn’t a good improviser,” Cenac added. “He’d read something that [Jerry] Seinfeld said about surrounding himself with better talent and that he would rise to the occasion. And so that was his hope.”

Obviously the show never made it past that point, but perhaps in an alternate universe, it could have.

Check out the full version of Kanye West’s original A Little Inappropriate pilot above.

The Smile’s Captivating ‘Bending Hectic’ Finally Gets A Proper Release After Its 2022 Montreux Jazz Festival Debut

The Smile is hitting the road for a full North American tour starting tomorrow (June 21) in Mexico City, Mexico. Before the rockers take the stage of the Auditorio Nacional, they are treating fans to a new single. Although it isn’t a completely new release, supporters are excited nonetheless. With their latest track, “Bending Hectic,” the band builds up more anticipation for their upcoming album.

The song is the perfect display of their mastery of both post-punk and progressive rock. Across the eight minutes run time, the melody of instruments captivates the listeners as the lyrics tether you to their fantasy trip. The most memorable stanza reads, “We are coming to a bend now, skidding round a hairpin / A sheer drop down the Italian mountainside / Time is kind of frozen, you are gazing at the view / And I swear I’m seeing double / But no-one’s gonna bring me down no, no way and no how / I’m letting go of the wheel.”

“Bending Hectic” originally debuted at the 2022 Montreux Jazz Festival. However, the track, which was produced by Sam Petts-Davies, did not make The Smile’s live album from the set. The record features string support by the London Contemporary Orchestra.

Russell Simmons Had A Wild Father’s Day After Being Called Out By His Daughters And Ex-Wife For Abusive Behavior

Not everyone had a happy Father’s Day on Sunday. Russell Simmons, one of rap’s most notorious dads, likely had a horrible one as his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons and daughters Aoki and Ming spent the day calling him out for what they describe as abusive behavior. After Ming, the eldest, wished her mother a happy Father’s Day on Instagram instead of Russell, he responded with an unsubtle meme, prompting Kimora and Aoki to share their experiences of being terrorized and gaslit by him.

On Monday, after Russell had shared the meme (“Stop telling fathers they should have fought harder to see their children and start asking mothers why he had to fight at all”), Kimora streamed herself on Instagram Live to detail how not only did Russell’s celebrity afforded him protection from accountability for his actions but also how he has lied about their relationship on social media despite her blocking him. One example is him sending himself flowers “from” her to post on Instagram. You can see a clip below.

Meanwhile, shortly thereafter, Aoki also started her own Live, corroborating some of her mom’s statements and explaining how the family’s relationship with Russell has deteriorated over the years. According to HipHopDX, she wrote on her Stories, “My father is not well, for years, he needs help and won’t accept that he refuses to acknowledge he is not himself. He has threatened and bullied my sister, my grandma, he has harassed my grandma in the middle of the night in poor health, send a man to my sisters apt at 2am to scare her. He lashes out at ANYONE who does not say ‘oh Russell everything is fine.’ Well it’s not fine. If I ‘never get a fashion job again’ like he threatens, I’ll be a lawyer I guess and work in criminal justice. Sure I love my job but if he takes it away from me I won’t die. You don’t threaten my sister and grandma and mother and say ‘who’s gonna believe you I’m Russell Simmons nobody thinks I’m crazy’ well he is.”

Russell Simmons, who was best known for his role as the co-founder of pivotal rap label Def Jam Recordings, was accused in 2017 of sexual assault by multiple women in incidents spanning decades, has since stepped down from the slew of companies he founded/directed.

These Photos From Bonnaroo 2023 Show Just How Special The Farm Really Is

2023 music festival season is in high gear — and you can stay updated on the best music festivals in the handy Uproxx Music Festival Preview. This past weekend, tens of thousands of fans descended on Manchester, Tennessee for the 2023 edition of the iconic Bonnaroo, which saw more than 150 artists perform on more than 10 different stages. It was absolute madness once again for the festival known for combining genres and aesthetics, with everything from dance music, hip-hop, country, rock, and pop music featuring during the four-day event.

A host of memorable performances highlighted this year’s slate. Foo Fighters, Kendrick Lamar, and Odesza were the headliners, but notable sets were also delivered by the likes of Tennessee natives Paramore, nu metal legends Korn, Roo regulars My Morning Jacket, rising rap star Baby Keem, and tons more, like Tyler Childers, Marcus Mumford, Lil Nas X, Fleet Foxes, and Sheryl Crow. But anyone that’s been to Bonnaroo will tell you that while the bands are the driving force of the festival, the sense of community makes it stand out in a crowded festival field. There’s truly no place like The Farm.

Uproxx sent photographer Paul L. Carter to capture the action. Check out some highlights from the weekend in the form of festival photos and artist portraits.

Vin Diesel Is ‘Dissecting The Mythology’ Of The ‘Fast And Furious’ Movies In His ‘Creative Dojo’

Fast X isn’t the least good Fast and Furious movie (no Fast and Furious movie is “bad”), but it might be the most disappointing. Not even Jason Momoa trying to blow up the Vatican can make up for the formulaic plot. But Vin Diesel has heard your feedback (unless it’s “more Jason Momoa,” allegedly) and he’s promising changes for Fast X: Part 2.

“Yup. The conversation never stops. 5 a.m., Caymen Islands. And the world would never realize that we’re here dissecting the mythology of Fast, going over it. Going over all of the feedback from our incredible fans and how much we’re just enjoying being in this creative dojo,” Diesel said in a video posted to his Instagram account, according to Screen Rant.

The actor has had “so much inspiration and time to reflect. And to talk and work out and to double check all the aspects that need to be hit, and this kind of scary path that we’re going on for Part 2 for Fast X. We’re done with our press tour and now we have time to go back to building and that’s so much fun. We take it seriously because we know how important it is to all of you.”

Diesel captioned the post, “Creative Dojo.” For you see, Fast X: Part 2 is kind of a cosmic gumbo

The First ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ Reactions Are All About That Action

The first reactions to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One are in, and critics are all about Tom Cruise delivering another action spectacular as relentless IMF agent Ethan Hunt.

The film saw several delays thanks to the pandemic, but Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie refused to give up as they traipsed all around Europe to find new locations to jump from with a motorcycle. Their hard work appears to have paid off as a common theme among critics is that Dead Reckoning delivers some of the best action scenes in the franchise.

“MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – DEAD RECKONING PART ONE works as Christopher McQuarrie’s ambitious examination of/meditation on AI and the dangerous path we might be on. (He doesn’t like it)” Mike Ryan tweeted. “With the inherent nature of being ‘part one’ (said that a lot lately), not as satisfying as FALLOUT.”

“#MissionImpossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is another winner for the franchise,” Perri Nemiroff wrote. “Yet again, the production value is THROUGH THE ROOF with some of the most well-defined and exhilarating set pieces photographed in ways that truly make you feel like you’re in the middle of the action.”

“After the insanity of the last few films, #MissionImpossible7 has a tremendous amount to live up to,” Kate Erbland tweeted. “But one thing I’ll say now in quick reaction format: it does the best job yet of recent ‘part 1 of 2!!’ features in feeling like its own film while setting up for the next half.”

“#MissionImpossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is fantastic,” Germain Lussier wrote. “Dynamite, timely story. Excellent new characters. Huge variety of action and a final set piece that ranks top 2-3 all-time for the franchise. It gets a little dense at times but its pace & intensity more than cover that.”

You can see more reactions below:

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One jumps into theaters on July 12.

No One Knows What Trump Was Talking About When He Concocted A Putin Conversation For A Disbelieving Fox News Host

Who could have predicted that, in 2023, that Fox News would deliver a harder-hitting interview of Donald Trump than CNN did? That’s precisely what happened, and although this might seem bizarre at face value, one must consider that Fox News is reportedly placed a lot of the blame on Trump within their defense during the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit.

As you may be aware, Fox News agreed to pay Dominion more than $787 million as a settlement, and Tucker Carlson is now out at the conservative news network. It stands to reason that Fox News would no longer allow Trump to run amuck, and Bret Baier didn’t give him too many inches, especially when the ex-president essentially admitted to stealing and sharing classified documents. Still, Trump ended up rambling about a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Trump — maybe? who knows — appears to refer to threats that he claims to have made against Putin if he were to invade Ukraine on his watch.

What on earth is he saying here? This conversation is surely another Trump fabrication. He’s simply into writing his own fan fiction: “There’s gonna be hell to pay… I will, Vladimir, I will do it, I’m gonna do it.” Say what?

Overall, no one could figure out what he meant. One person is “fully convinced he has no idea who Putin is.” And the ball started rolling from there.

This guy is gonna be such a mess on the stand in a few weeks.
