The Walkmen Share Tour Dates And An Update On Their Reunion: ‘I Don’t Know What Happens Next’

The Walkmen announced their reunion last year after a decade-long hiatus. First they shared a couple of New York shows. Then they revealed more gigs for a 12-date run. This time, they’re hitting more locations.

The group will be playing nine concerts, kicking off in Nashville in September and ending in Toronto in October. To go with the tour announcement, member Peter Matthew Bauer shared a statement to explain what the reunion has been like. Read it in full:

“The last few weeks have been an absolute blast.

Honestly, when we decided to get back together to play these shows, we had no idea if anyone would even show up. It’s been an incredible joy seeing all these people out there, playing these shows, getting to run into old friends from all over the world.

There was a review of our first show back that said something really nice — that it felt like ‘time was bending back on itself.’ It really has and it’s been the strangest feeling. We all flew to New York, had dinner at Hamilton’s house with his family and actually did not practice as promised. The next day we played the Stephen Colbert show live on television. I think each of us hold on to playing Letterman as a very important memory. So, to be back at the Ed Sullivan Theater and be playing this song for the first time in ten years with your friends was like an out of body experience.

We are just getting going and I’m not really sure we want it to end. I will say, after being the dummy who I guess broke the band up last time saying something about an ‘extreme hiatus,’ I’m going to avoid saying anything like that again. I will say, what makes it all special is when you don’t know what’s going to happen next and when you can actually wonder if this is the last time you’re ever going to get the chance to do this. Everything feels ragged and lively which is what all of us thought was good about the band in the first place.

So, I don’t know what happens next but I do know these shows are just about the end of what’s happening now. We are headed west across the USA this fall. We’ll go all the way to California and the Pacific Northwest and play cities we haven’t in many years ultimately ending back east. Also, there’s still some tickets available for our UK run, so check the site and grab. We’ve got maybe one or two more in us to announce in the coming weeks. But that is it (I guess?)”

The Spurs Won The 2023 NBA Draft Lottery And Get To Select Victor Wembanyama

Prior to the start of the Western Conference Finals in Denver between the Nuggets and Lakers, the eyes of the league were focused on ping pong balls being drawn in Chicago to determine the order of the first 14 picks in June’s NBA Draft.

While the Draft Lottery is always an event fans look forward to — particularly fans of teams who had rough seasons — this year’s event brought in even more interest given the stakes. The team landing the No. 1 overall pick would get the right to select Victor Wembanyama, considered the best prospect to enter the league at least since LeBron James — and some argue since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The hype around the 7’3 French star is unbelievable, and where he lands figures to have a seismic impact on the league.

As the lottery played out, it went according to plan for the first nine picks, with the Portland Trail Blazers becoming the first team to move up into the top 4, only further building the tension in the room — with Detroit falling all the way to No. 5. Ultimately, the San Antonio Spurs ended up winning the lottery and the Wembanyama sweepstakes, seeing their franchise trajectory changed with some fortuitous ping pong ball bounces

1. San Antonio Spurs
2. Charlotte Hornets
3. Portland Trail Blazers
4. Houston Rockets
5. Detroit Pistons
6. Orlando Magic
7. Indiana Pacers
8. Washington Wizards
9. Utah Jazz
10. Dallas Mavericks
11. Orlando Magic (via Chicago Bulls)
12. Oklahoma City Thunder
13. Toronto Raptors
14. New Orleans Pelicans

It will be the third time the Spurs have picked No. 1 overall, where they’ve done very well for themselves, taking a pair of Hall of Fame big men — David Robinson in 1987 and Tim Duncan in 1997. They’ll hope Wembanyama lives up to the ample hype and joins those two in becoming legendary Spurs.

Charlotte, meanwhile, will have their choice of the rest, with Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller as the two players most view as the second best prospect. Detroit had the toughest night of any team, falling from top-3 odds all the way to fifth, while the Bulls failing to jump up lost their pick to Orlando from the Nikola Vucevic trade.

George Santos’ Wild Ride As The Most Famous Liar in The House Of Representatives May Be Finally Coming To An End

George Santos has had a pretty fun last six months. The New York lawmaker went from a nobody who quietly scored a seat in the House of Representatives to the most famous and most prolific fabulist since the guy who inspired Baron Munchausen. Alas, the ride may be coming to an end.

As per The New York Times, Democratic representative Robert Garcia announced a resolution to vote on whether or not to expel Santos from the chamber.

“Now is an opportunity to hold him accountable,” the California lawmaker said. “The Republicans in the House are actually going to have to go on record and make a decision about if they’re actually going to stand for truth and accountability, or if they’re going to stand with someone that’s clearly a liar.”

Expelling a representative ain’t easy; it requires a two-thirds supermajority. Even if the gambit doesn’t work, it will nonetheless put Republican representatives in a pickle: Should they vote to retain Santos, their decision will be part of the record. The public will know who supported a guy who claimed his mother died in the September 11 attacks when she didn’t.

So get ready because Santos may finally get the boot. Either way, the public will know who stood by a guy indicted on charges of wire fraud, money laundering, stealing public funds, and lying to the government, and who also lied about being a volleyball star at a college he never attended.

Shy Glizzy Was Reportedly Arrested On Criminal Threat Charges After An Incident With His Girlfriend

Shy Glizzy, née Marquis Amonte King, was arrested on Saturday, May 13, after pulling a gun on his girlfriend. According to TMZ, the Lil Uzi Vert collaborator allegedly got in a fight with his girlfriend, which led to him brandishing the weapon and threatening her.

The “How I’m Coming” rapper reportedly fled after the dispute, which happened at 9 A.M., but was finally tracked down by police and arrested hours later, at 6 P.M. He spent four hours behind bars and was hit with a felony charge of making criminal threats. He was later released on a $50,000 bond. Sources told TMZ that cops didn’t find a gun on him when he was arrested and that he denied making threats.

Glizzy is signed to the label 300 Entertainment, and has his own imprint under them called Glizzy Gang 300 Atlantic. After rappers Young Thug and Gunna were arrested for gang activity connected to their label YSL, 300 Entertainment launched a petition on Change.org calling for the protection of Black art and laws to codify rappers’ freedom of expression.

300 Entertainment was also sued by Megan Thee Stallion after they claimed that Something For Thee Hotties was a mixtape and not an album and therefore didn’t fulfill their contract. The label then countersued.

The Internet Tried To Figure Out When The ‘Fast And Furious’ Series ‘Abandoned Reality,’ And There Sure Were A Lot Of Answers

When the Fast and Furious series began 22 summers ago, few would have guessed it would one day go to space. The first was a relatively stripped-down affair, “only” concerning hot-rodders who also do heists. Where exactly did it jump the shark and ditch reality? That’s the question that got people thinking the other day after a prompt tweet went viral. And boy, did people have a lot of answers.

Fast X, the penultimate installment of the main wing of the franchise, hits theaters this weekend, and we already know it has its share of ridiculousness. For instance, we already know this happens.

But again, at what point in the series officially go over the top? Some thought it happened recently. F9 got a lot of answers, including the arguable apex of the series’ ludicrousness: When Tyrese Gibson’s Roman and Ludacris’ Tej went to space.

Some said the car rope.

Or Vin Diesel’s Dom leaping from a crashing vehicle with no scratches, also from F9.

Or these other explosions.

Or the idea that Vin Diesel and John Cena could play brothers.

Or bringing Han back from the dead.

Surely the Fast and Furious cycle sailed off the deep end earlier. Maybe it was cars battling a submarine in the Arctic from The Fate of the Furious.

Or this nonsensical chicken thing between Dom and Jason Statham’s Shaw in Furious 7.

Or the skyscraper jump from the same film.

Or this cliff action.

What about Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs breaking an arm cast with his muscles?

Fast & Furious 6 had its share of ridiculousness, though few mentioned the 3,000-mile-long runway from the climax.

Oh, and let’s not forget the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw.

Which also had more skyscraper action.

The relatively sane Fast Five had a giant bank vault being dragged by a car, but that’s pretty logical compared to what came after. It still had Dom not messing up a shirt after a car incident.

Perhaps you forgot the fourquel, Fast & Furious, had a scene where Dom appeared to crash a car with his mind.

Or wait: Was the series bananas from the start?

Will Fast X have something that tops all of these? You can find out when it hits theaters on May 19.

Lauren Boebert’s Notoriously Hot-Headed Husband Predictably Lost His S**t When Served With Divorce Papers, According To Court Documents

If you think true love lasts forever, prepare to have your heart broken: On Tuesday it was revealed Lauren Boebert had filed for divorce from Jayson, her husband of 20 years. Boebert seemed to be in it for the long haul. After all, she married him after he flashed his junk to an underage bartender at a bowling alley. Her soon-to-be-ex is infamously hot-headed, and sure enough he did not take news of the split with dispassionate cool.

The Daily Beast obtained a copy of the divorce filing, which was made back on April 25. It states that Jayson, who appears to have not seen this twist coming, took out his anger on the process server, whom he treated to an expletive-heavy tirade. He also unleashed his dogs. As per The Beast:

“Once he learned that he was being served with Dissolution of Marriage papers he was extremely angry,” the process server wrote. “I tried to hand him the documents but did not take them. He started yelling and using profanities, and told me that I was trespassing, and that he was calling the Sheriff’s Office. I told him I was leaving the documents on the chair outside of the door, he closed the door then let the dogs out.”

The document also stated that at the time Jayson was drinking a “tall glass of beer” and cleaning a gun, as one does.

Boebert’s husband’s antics have made news over the years. Last year neighbors called 911, saying the “dumb as a post,” “jackass” and “probably drunk” Jayson tried to start a fight with them after his son was driving “like 50 miles an hour” in their residential neighborhood.

Boebert cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. They met at a Burger King and had their first kid when she was 18. The wang exposure incident happened when she was 15.

The Colorado representative is not the first allegedly family values-loving MAGA lawmaker to split from their spouse. Her good pal Marjorie Taylor Greene unlocked that achievement first.

Steve Kerr On Free Agency: ‘If Draymond’s Not Back, We Aren’t A Championship Contender’

The Golden State Warriors are entering a fascinating offseason coming off of a disappointing end to their season, losing in the second round to the Lakers in six games. It was a series that showed some of the flaws of the Warriors roster, as well as raising questions once again about how they should proceed with their team-building strategy.

The two-timeline approach hasn’t worked as intended, with Jordan Poole taking a step back this postseason and Moses Moody being the only one of their three recent lottery picks to find himself in the playoff rotation. With Poole on a large, new extension, there’s plenty of pressure on him coming into next year and rumblings that Golden State could look to move him this summer — or at least will listen if teams come calling about the young guard.

On the other end of the spectrum are Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, two pillars of the franchise who are expecting to be paid handsomely this summer. Thompson is extension eligible, with one more year left on his current deal, while Green is a free agent. Draymond has made clear he wants to be back, but it’s a matter of whether Golden State will meet his asking price. On Tuesday during exit interviews, Kerr was asked about Green entering free agency and made his feelings on the matter very clear.

“If Draymond’s not back, we’re not a championship contender,” Kerr said “We know that, and he’s that important to winning and to who we are. So I absolutely want him back. He’s a competitor. He’s an incredible defensive player. … He knows that he had a great season this year from a basketball perspective, but he knows he also compromised things by what happened back in October. So part of him coming back next year has to be about rebuilding some of that trust and respect that he’s earned here for a long period of time.”

It’s an interesting quote because Kerr doesn’t shy away from the fact that Green punching Poole prior to the season fractured some trust in the locker room and it was something this group never fully recovered from. Still, he knows that on the court, there’s no one that can replace what Green does as both a defender and facilitator, and if the Warriors were to lose Green, it’d be a step back for what they can do as a team.

There will be plenty of pressure on the Warriors front office to re-sign Green and Thompson to extend this window for a few more years, even with the understanding that their upcoming contracts might run longer than their championship window is open. That’s a hard thing for a team spending this much to commit to, and we’ll learn exactly how committed they are in a month and a half. The goal of the two timelines was to have an easier bridge to the next era, with the idea that they’ll have young players who can step into those roles more easily. To this point, none of their young players have proven to be ready for that kind of spotlight to fill the gaps around Stephen Curry, and if they feel they need to appease his desire to win, there’s not really a way to do that and not sink big money into their longtime core — as Kerr made clear on Tuesday.

Family Values Conservative Lauren Boebert Has Filed For Divorce From Her Husband

Lauren Boebert has officially announced that she’s filed for divorce from her husband Jayson Boebert after 16 years of marriage. The Colorado congresswoman put out a statement after social media sleuths discovered court documents that pointed to some sort of domestic matter involving the Boeberts.

While no specific cause for the divorce has been revealed as of this writing, Congresswoman Boebert made it point to note that she has been faithful to her husband. She made no mention of his fidelity in the statement and simply cited “irreconcilable differences” as her reason for ending the marriage.

Via Colorado Sun:

“It is with a heavy weight on my heart that I have filed for divorce from my husband. I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, all of whom deserve privacy and love as we work through this process,” the congresswoman said in a written statement. “I’ve always been faithful in my marriage, and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement that much more difficult.”

She added: “This is truly about irreconcilable differences. I do not intend to discuss this matter any further in public out of respect for our children, and will continue to work hard to represent the people of Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District.”

According to the Colorado Sun, Jayson Boebert, whose past troubles with the law have plagued his wife’s political career, did not take the news well and got “extremely angry” with a process server.

“I tried to hand him the documents but (he) did not take them,” the server said in the court documents. “He started yelling and using profanities and told me that I was trespassing.”
