Taco Bell Is Trying To Liberate The Trademarked Phrase ‘Taco Tuesday’ And Return It To The People

If you’re a small business owner who has used the phrase “Taco Tuesday” to advertise your super dope taco night, watch out — you’re opening yourself up to legal action against Taco John’s, who has apparently trademarked the phrase. Luckily, for all of us who love the phrase, Taco Bell today petitioned the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to cancel the trademark.

Yes, that’s right, Taco Bell has decided to wage a war for “Taco Tuesday.” On a Tuesday. While serving tacos. It’s poetic justice.

We can’t be alone in thinking that the idea of any entity trademarking the phrase “Taco Tuesday” is ridiculous. It’s like your uncle Terry, who tells you every Thanksgiving without fail “Bro, you know ‘talk to the hand?’ Well, I invented that!’” Sure, Terry. Sure you did.

As ridiculous as it is, Taco John’s, a Wyoming-based taco chain, has owned the trademark since 1989 in 49 states excluding New Jersey, where the phrase is owned by another small business, Gregory’s. And the brand is pretty litigious about it too, Axios reports that Taco John’s lawyers have sent cease-and-desist letters to restaurants and even media outlets for using the term. Taco Bell’s petition calls for the cancellation of both Taco John’s and Gregory’s trademark and believes “‘Taco Tuesday’ should belong to all who make, sell, eat and celebrate tacos.”

We wholeheartedly agree! Fight that good fight, Taco Bell. And bring back the beef meximelt while you’re at it!

Slowthai ‘Categorically Denies’ The Rape Accusations Against Him: ‘I Am Confident My Name Will Be Cleared’

Earlier today, it was reported that British rapper Slowthai appeared in court on charges of oral and vaginal penetration of a woman without consent — in other words, rape. While details were scarce, it was reported that Slowthai, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, appeared to confirm his indictment, identity, and address, then was given bail and a new hearing date next month before a crown court, which is one of the three senior courts of England and Wales. The incident was said to take place in September 2021.

Slowthai responded to the accusations against him in a statement on Twitter. “Regarding the allegations being reported about me,” he wrote. “I categorically deny the charges. I am innocent and I am confident my name will be cleared. Until then I will apply my energy to ensure this is concluded swiftly and justly. I ask that my supporters don’t comment about this situation and respect the process and privacy of my family during this time.”

In 2019, Slowthai garnered popular acclaim with the release of his debut album, Nothing Great About Britain. The album was nominated for the Mercury Prize and since then, he’s risen in stature, contributing vocals to projects from American artists like Brockhampton, Denzel Curry, James Blake, Tyler The Creator, and more. His most recent album, UGLY (U Gotta Love Yourself, was released on March 3 this year, reaching No. on the UK’s Billboard albums chart equivalent.

John Cena Got Cast As A Merman In ‘Barbie’ After An ‘Accidental Run-In’ With Margot Robbie

Barbie comes out the same day as Oppenheimer, which is the funniest release date counter-programming since Cats and The Rise of Skywalker. Greta Gerwig’s colorful doll movie and Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb epic don’t make for much of a double feature, however, unlike Barbie and Fast X. Consider: both involve cars; both have strong female characters; and both star John Cena. Although he plays a merman in only one of them. Guess which!

“Honestly, it was a happy accident,” Cena told the Today show about how he got cast in Barbie. “In an accidental run-in with Margot Robbie. I said, ‘I would pretty much do whatever you guys need because I really enjoy the movie.’ They asked me if I want to be a merman. I said, ‘Yeah, sure.”

That’s the magic of Hollywood, baby.

Cena and Robbie previously worked together in The Suicide Squad (the good one), but their relationship goes back further than that: the actress slept next to a cardboard cutout of the wrestler when she was in her 20s. “I had a boyfriend who was obsessed with John Cena — so much so that he dressed as John Cena for his 21st birthday,” she said in 2021, “and [he] had a cardboard cutout of John Cena in his bedroom. So I slept in a room for two years with a life-size cardboard cutout of John Cena in the room.”

I wonder if Robbie knows there’s a Fathead of Cena for $109.99. She can afford it.

A Frustrated Sam Asghari Addressed The ‘Gaslighting’ And ‘Clickbait’ About Britney Spears In A New Video

Over the past week or so, TMZ has shared several reports about Britney Spears. One claims Spears “guzzles Red Bull, Celsius, coffee, and dandelion tea almost nonstop” and will “sometimes stay awake for 3 consecutive days” due to all the caffeine. Another alleged that Spears feels “helpless,” and another said her marriage to Sam Asghari is “on the rocks.”

This all led up to yesterday’s (May 15) release of the documentary TMZ Investigates: Britney Spears: The Price Of Freedom. Before that, though, Asghari took to social media to share his frustrations about media coverage of his wife.

In a video shared on his Instagram Story, Asghari said:

“The last thing I want to do is speak on my wife’s behalf: I will never do that. I respect her privacy, that’s why I don’t talk as much. And I found it absolutely disgusting for the people that were in her life at the time when she didn’t have a voice, they went and told her story like it was theirs. It was absolutely disgusting. And how are you gonna take the most influential person of our generation, the princess of pop, America’s sweetheart, and put her in prison, where her father tells her what to do, what water to drink, who to see, and use her as a money-making machine?

And then all of a sudden, after 15 years, when she’s free after all [that] gaslighting and all those things that went down, now you’re gonna put her under a microscope and tell her story? No. No. That’s also disgusting, so don’t do that. And don’t believe what you read online. 99 percent of the time, those are all clickbaits, for you to click and for them to make money, and that time is over, you know. Not gonna allow that. And that should stop. It should stop, absolutely. The gaslighting and all that sh*t gotta stop.”

How Long Is The ‘Fast X’ Movie?

In the year 2023, it’s not cheap to go to a movie theater. To be fair, they almost went out of business during the pandemic, so it’s nice that they exist at all. But a ticket can cost you an arm and leg, especially if you are looking to take your car enthusiast father to see Fast X this weekend. Even though it’s on the pricey side, you can swipe your credit card peacefully knowing that you are going to spend a lot of time looking at Vin Diesel’s jacked arms on a 70-foot screen.

The latest installment, which brings in Jason Momoa as the new villain, clocks in at 141 minutes, or 2 hours and 21 minutes, making it two minutes shorter than its predecessor F9. That’s a two-minute bathroom break you’ll never get back, but it’s not too bad. At least you’re getting your money’s worth, and your dad will surely have a great time.

How does this compare to the rest of the franchise? Well, as movies have been getting longer and longer (maybe even too long), this is a huge jump from the first three movies in the franchise, which were all around 105 minutes. Once the Toretto family expanded, the movie length started increasing, beginning with Fast Five, which knocked the length up to 130 minutes.

Using this fool-proof formula, we can safely say that by the time Fast 20: The Abuela Toretto Story hits theaters in 2050, the movie will be about 175 minutes. And maybe then Vin Diesel will get his Oscar.

Fast X will hit theaters on May 19th.

‘The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Got Blunt About The Rudy Giuliani Allegations: ‘It’s Very Hard To Fight A Tape’

The View went to town on a new lawsuit that accuses former Donald Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani of a laundry list of sexual harassment allegations. The suit was filed by former Giuliani staffer Noelle Dunphy, who reportedly taped several interactions with Giuliani while he was frequently drunk and/or loaded with Viagra, prompting him to demand sexual favors. On top of the recordings, Dunphy also had access to Giuliani’s emails.

“She has 23,000 of his emails that he gave her his password. Really not that smart, Rudy!” Joy Behar quipped. “He let her follow him around and videotape everything that he was saying. She has the receipts!”

“When you read about the sexual acts he was doing, you won’t believe how stupid he is” Behar added before turning things over to rest of the panel, who also marveled at the brazenness of Giuliani’s alleged behavior. Former Trump staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin, who has spoken about the former president’s treatment of women, was particularly disturbed.

Via Raw Story:

“This makes me sad because there was a time when Rudy Giuliani was America’s mayor. On the Republican side, he tried to reunite the country after 9/11. He raised $216 million with the Twin Tower Fund. He was someone that, at one point, he was esteemed, but things have dipped in the last few decades. By the way, this stuff never happens in a vacuum. If he was doing it now, he was probably doing it then. Where’s his family? Why aren’t his kids, like, hey, father?”

After Sunny Hostin fulfilled the show’s legal obligation to note that Giuliani denies the accusations, Whoopi Goldberg put the situation bluntly.

“Well, ya know, it’s very hard to fight a tape,” Goldberg said. “It’s very hard to fight a tape. But I see people trying all the time so, it’ll be interesting television!”

Noted Manly Man Josh Hawley Can’t Run Away From The Terrible (And Hilarious) Reviews Of His Book About ‘Manhood’

Josh Hawley, the “shrimp, wimp, coward” senator who ran away from the same January 6th insurrectionists who he previously gave his fist-pumping support to, wrote a book about manhood. It’s called Manhood (clever!), and if Tucker Carlson was still on Fox News, Hawley would be on his show to discuss his fragile male ego (and porn). Instead, he’ll have to rely on good ol’ word-of-mouth marketing to get people to buy Manhood.

Let’s check in with the reviews on Amazon!

Even for a free copy it is overpriced. Hawley’s sanctimonious instruction of how to beat the most dangerous risk to America—not being manly like him—would be sad if it wasn’t so comical. Arrogance isn’t pretty at the best of times; some times it’s just cringe-worthy.

As a frequent epstein guest, Josh brings us an inside look into child trafficking. In this book he describes the best ways for conservatives to have sex with children.

Don’t waste your time on this joke. Clearly shadow written by an aroused teenager.

Hm, maybe people are nicer on Goodreads.

Manhood: man-hood noun 1. The act of raising a fist, while protected by barricades and Capitol police, to the treasonous masses you’re attempting to fleece, then fleeing like Chicken Little when the same insurrectionists actually storm the Capitol building you’re cowering in.

Not even Josh Hawley can embody his toxic ideal of masculinity. Sad.

Who would read a book about manhood but an utterly feckless, cowardly excuse of a human being. Real men have honor. Josh Hawley is a prideful, self-serving narcissist cosplaying being a man. He knows nothing about honor and bravery unless it coincides with making him look good.

How does a dude who runs away from the angry mob he helped create know anything about being a good human, much less “manhood.” Toxic masculinity isn’t equal to being a good man. Being a good man is being kind, loving, available, open, strong, treating others as equals…none of the attributes Hawley has ever publicly presented.

The idea that Josh Hawley wants to help us be better men is beyond laughable. Admittedly, I only read 40% of the book, but I just couldn’t punish my sensibilities any further. I did go to the trouble of thoroughly researching (or as far as publicly-available info would allow me) Mr. Hawley, and if he’s the prototype for masculinity, then I’m a raging testosterone-flooded monster. Anyone who knows me would contest that — I’m just a good father and husband who was taught how to be a REAL man by my grandfather, one of the toughest, but gentlest, fairest and most responsible person, man or woman, I’ve ever known. Hawley disgraces the real men in this world by the mere fact he would dare preach to others on “how to be a man”. If Mr. Hawley IS the quintessential male, then please, cut my balls off now.

On the plus side for Hawley, Manhood is #1 on Amazon’s “Best Sellers in Political Conservatism & Liberalism” list. That puts it eight spots ahead of The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival by Ron DeSantis. What do the books have in common? They’re both about d*cks.

San Cha Is Bringing Tradition Back To The Forefront As The Budding Singer Steps Into The Limelight

The Coca-Cola® Transformation Team, formed by Coca-Cola® and Warner Music Group’s WMX, has discovered some of music’s next crossover acts thanks to their talent search inspired by Coca-Cola® Move. So far, their journey has brought forth budding acts, Canada’s Kallitechnis and Puerto Rico’s Eduardo María. Next on the growing roster is singer and songwriter San Cha.

Based in Highland Park, California, with Mexican heritage, San Cha’s music has traveled just as much as she has in her creative pursuits. San Cha’s traditionally focused music has already begun to gain recognition, as evidenced by her song “Desesperada” being featured on the Showtime series Vida. Revered for her ranchera and goth music blends, San Cha carried that raw vulnerability over into her stripped-down The Eye performance.

In the series, acts are challenged to deliver a raw one-take musical performance showcasing who they are as artists. For San Cha, her song “Levanta Dolores” was just the right fit. When asked why she selected the song, the singer replied, “I wanted to conceptualize this Telenovela story,” adding that song’s duality was the deciding factor.

“There’s this man portion of it, and there a danity sad female. This song is just crying. Crying. Desperation — but exaggerated,” said San Cha.

Conscious of how this will appear on camera, San Cha says, “I would like to be simultaneously losing myself in the performance but concise of lighting, camera [angles], and performing with it. I think we’re all performing together.”

When asked about preparing for The Eye performance, San Cha shared, “With music, it feels like it is all about freedom and letting yourself go. When the music actually takes over you, you want to move. You want to dance. You want to do whatever it is asking you to do. I feel the most free when I’m belting,” continuing, “When the voice is taking up all this space, it feels like, ‘oh, I’m connected.’”

No written description will do this performance justice. However, in the behind-the-scenes footage, the team captures the song’s high energy and theatrical nature, which bleeds over into San Cha’s performance. Watch the full video above.
