The Boys‘ baddest supe, Homelander is a role that any actor would relish, although it’s hard to imagine anyone pulling off the role like Antony Starr does. Or really going for it like Starr does, either.

Homelander has gone increasingly off the rails and more sadistic with each passing season, and Starr is no spring chicken to acting (his performance in Banshee is great, too), but he actually “never wanted to be an actor.” That’s the revelation that surfaced above (in a clip from Amazon Prime Video) while Starr and Karl Urban enjoyed a meeting of the Kiwi minds in conversation.

Starr continued: “I didn’t know about the film industry. I’m still trying to figure out what I’m gonna do when I grow up.”

This led to a chuckle from Urban, who reflected upon why this actually makes sense. “I think that’s what makes your character so vibrant and so scary,” he observed. “You just have no idea of what you’re gonna do at any particular juncture.”

To that, Starr agreed wholeheartedly, and Urban further reflected, “And that translates to the audience.”

Well said, and to be perfectly clear, Starr is incredibly talented, but he does have a knack for making it seem like Homelander has no idea what he’s doing and, as a result, is frequently covering his own ass. This vibe probably also translated to poor Timothy the Octopus. RIP.

Ideally, Antony Starr will see an Emmy nomination this year for his performance. Voting will begin for those nods on June 15.

This past weekend, The Eras Tour brought Taylor Swift to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a three-night run. Keith Urban and wife Nicole Kidman turned up to yesterday’s (May 14) show, where Urban (who featured on Fearless (Taylor’s Version)) accidentally let a celebrity romance cat out of the bag.

This afternoon, Urban shared a TikTok video of himself and Kidman singing and dancing along to Swift’s performance of “Style,” before panning the camera around to reveal the rest of the audience. People quickly noticed, though, that in the first half of the video, Bo Burnham and Phoebe Bridgers appear to be behind them. Both are pretty easy to identify, even just in the background of a dark, strobe-lit video: Bridgers has her distinctive silvery blonde hair and Burnham stands at about 6’5″ tall. Most notable, though, is in the final seconds before Urban pans the camera around, as it sure looks like Burnham and Bridgers share a kiss.

The top comments on the post are all about Bridgers and Burnham, including ones like, “Everyone say thank you to Keith Urban,” and, “Keith having the time of his life with Nicole not knowing the chaos he just put out on the internet.”

As People notes, Bridgers and Burnham have been linked since January, when they were spotted at LAX together. So, for some fans, this clip has been a long time coming.

Have Vin Diesel and The Rock set aside their “candy ass” feud for the sake of da family? The Wrap reports that Dwayne Johnson, who has a, let’s say, complicated history with his Fast and Furious co-star, will make be “making an appearance in the post-credits sequence” of Fast X.

It’s a bald boys reunion (Jason Statham is invited, too).

The Rock was supposedly done playing Luke Hobbs after starring in franchise highlight Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and the Fast and Furious-presented spinoff Hobbs and Shaw, “for all the evident reasons.” He even went so far as to tell CNN that “when Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly – and privately – that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return.”

It’s nice that they made up (or Universal Pictures drove a dump truck full of money to their mansions… one of the two). It’s not official, however, until The Rock shares an Instagram post where Diesel is giving a thumbs up while the two of them share a bottle of Teremana tequila. Then I’ll believe it.

Iyla Pozin brought free TV to the streaming world with Pluto, and now, he wants to up the ante by bringing free TVs to the masses. On Monday, Pozin unveiled Telly, a free 55-inch TV set loaded with a sound bar and a second screen that represents a massive gamble for the new startup.

According to the specs for the free Telly TV, the set will include a 4K-HDR screen for normal television viewing. Below that will rest a second LED smart screen that will feature everything from sports scores to stock prices, options for interactive games, and most importantly, a constantly cycling assortment of ads, which is where the free part comes in.

“For too long, consumers have not been an equal part of the advertising value exchange,” Pozin says. “Companies are making billions of dollars from ads served on televisions, yet consumers have historically had to pay for both the TV and the content they watch. All of that changes today. When I co-founded Pluto TV, we created an entirely new model that offered amazing TV content to viewers for free. Now, with Telly, we are providing the actual television for free as well.”

Naturally, the big question is how crappy is the TV. Well, according to Pozin, the Telly TV is comparable to most 55-inch TV sets that are on the market for around $1,000. The goal is to “future-proof” the sets so they’re not outdated in a few years, which requires investing in the tech.

“Don’t be fooled by the price point. It’s not a budget TV by any means whatsoever,” Pozin said. “It’s by far the smartest TV on the market. There’s nothing even that comes close to it.”

It’s not easy to predict what Doja Cat is going to say or do next, largely because she’s often delivering straight-faced jokes and it can be hard to believe what she really means. That’s sort of situation is exactly what appears to have been happening over on Doja’s Twitter account in recent days.

It started with a May 11 tweet that read, “My stage name is no longer doja cat its Emcee Flapchunks the 3rd and youll address me as such.” The next day, she added, “i just got jumped by emcee flap chunks the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. im changing my name back to doja cat.”

A Twitter user shared the latter tweet and wrote, “everyday she constantly reminds us that she isn’t funny.” Doja responded, “im one of the funniest people on this planet and its sad to know that youll never recognize that.” She added in another tweet, “I’m extremely funny and I will remind you all every day that I am if I have to.”

A few minutes later, Doja started a Twitter poll, which read, “yall mad cuz.” The possible answers were “im rich,” “u eatin c*m rn,” and “both.” One user replied to the poll, “Everyone is mad because you are calling your fans dumb.” Doja answered, “………are they not?” Somebody else tweeted, “What are you then ? If we are dumb,” and Doja replied, “pretty???”

Given Doja’s sarcastic nature, it’s super possible that she’s not upset about anything, and neither are some of her fans participating in the dialogue, and that this whole situation is just some people not getting the joke.

The 2023 Hangout Music Festival will be headlined by Paramore, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and SZA this weekend “on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama,” as billed by the fest. Calvin Harris, Lil Nas X, Flume, Skrillex, and The Kid Laroi will also perform between this Friday, May 19, and Sunday, May 21.

The full schedule with everyone’s set times was shared by Hangout Fest on March 31, but here’s a refresher course now that it’s finally nearly time.

Gates will open at 11 a.m. local time for all three days. The festival boasts six stages: Hangout, Shein Surf Stage, Boom, Mermaid, Monster Beach Club, and Malibu Beach House. Each day will spread 26 artists’ sets across them.

May 19 will be headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers, beginning at 9:30 p.m., on the Hangout stage. Ahead of that set, Lil Nas X can be seen on the Shein Surf Stage from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Thundercat will handle the Mermaid stage from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. The Boom stage will host GloRilla from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., and Russ will perform at Hangout from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m.

On Saturday, May 20, SZA’s headlining set is slotted for 9:45 p.m. on the Hangout stage. Paramore will perform on the Shein Surf Stage from 8:45 to 9:45 p.m. Flume is slated for a 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. set on Hangout, just as Sabrina Carpenter (6:45 to 7:45 p.m.) finishes on the Shein Surf Stage. Saturday’s other artists include AJR (5:30 to 6:45 p.m.), Kidd G (1:30 to 2:30 p.m.), Ferg (8:15 to 9:15 p.m.), and more.

The party will wrap on Sunday, May 21, with Calvin Harris (9:30 p.m.) and The Kid Laroi (7:30 to 8:30 p.m.) on the Hangout stage, while Shein Surf Stage hosts Skrillex (8:30 to 9:30 p.m.), Ashnikko (6:30 to 7:30 p.m.), and Noah Kahan (4:30 to 5:30 p.m.). Kevin Gates is slated for the Boom stage from 8 to 9 p.m..

Fast X will be doing donuts in the parking lot before heading into theaters faster than you can say Dominic Toretto. Don’t say it three times though, because then he’ll crash into your living room unannounced.

The tenth installment in the franchise (if you don’t count Hobbs & Shaw, which most people don’t) may not be the final ride, but the stakes are high and the car jumps are even higher. Before you head to theaters, be sure that you are caught up on the previous films and go in prepared, or else you might look silly rooting for the wrong car. Here’s what else you have to know:

Also starring in the latest flick will be John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron.

Of course, there are some new names being added into the mix, including car aficionado Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, and Jason Momoa, who will portray Dante, the big bad villain.

When Aminé and Kaytranada shared the video for their first Kaytraminé single “4Eva,” the clip included a snippet of another song from their upcoming joint album, increasing the intrigue surrounding its impending release. Today, they shared the full-length version of that single, “Rebuke.” Aminé raps about a hard-to-get woman over a breezy Kaytranada instrumental, insisting that they are a “match made in heaven like Ja Rule and Ashanti,” even though she’s with someone else.

With the album’s tracklist, which features names like Amaarae, Big Sean, Freddie Gibbs, and Snoop Dogg. The rapper/producer duo apparently remains intent on surprising fans otherwise.

Kaytraminé will be the first release from either artist in over a year, although Kaytranada did produce IDK’s 2022 album Simple. Aminé’s last project was 2021’s TwoPointFive mixtape, which featured tracks like “Charmander” and “Van Gogh.” Meanwhile, Kaytranada’s last solo release was 2019’s Bubba, although he’s remained busy since then, producing on projects from Joyce Wrice, PinkPantheress, Ravyn Lenae, and his brother Lou Phelps. He also worked with Anderson .Paak and The Weeknd while teasing a second installment of Simple with IDK.

Nothing says starting fresh and clean like gutting out a restaurant and introducing a thoughtful chaos menu!

The Bear will return next month with a slew of new changes, both inside and out, for Carmy and Co. The restaurant team is hard at work giving the place a much-needed facelift, as long as they can keep their investors on board and their chefs in line. Should be easy and stress-free, much like the rest of the show.

The series stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, who is working to build back his family restaurant after the death of his brother. White stars alongside Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson, and Abby Elliott, who are all working together to get the place up and running, no matter what it takes, even if it’s some misspelled merch. Would anyone eat at a place called The Berf?

Bob Odenkirk was recently announced as a guest star for this season, along with Shiva Baby’s Molly Gordon, who will play a mysterious girl from Carmy’s past. Maybe we will see Carmy finally get it on. Though it sure seems like he’s got enough on his plate. Literally. There are some weird things on that plate.

Thanks to the success of the first season, season two will have two more episodes than its predecessor, and all 10 of them will be dropping at once on June 22nd on Hulu. Check out the trailer above.
