Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Take That, And Andrea Bocelli Will Play King Charles’ Coronation In May

After months of speculation over which artists had accepted to play at King Charles’ upcoming coronation, the official lineup has been revealed, with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Take That, and Andrea Bocelli accepting the offer. According to Rolling Stone, they’ll be accompanied by “bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, singer Freya Ridings, and composer-producer Alexis Ffrench.”

The event will take place on May 7 at Windsor Castle in England. It will be broadcast on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Sounds, and it’s described as something that “will celebrate a new chapter in the nation’s history, with themes of love, respect and optimism, celebrating the four nations, their communities and the Commonwealth.”

“I am excited to be performing at the Coronation Concert, and helping to shine a further light on the British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund, whose work includes on-ground initiatives to fundraising, with the aim to find solutions to child trafficking,” Perry said in a statement.

“To share the stage with the other performers at the coronation concert is a once-in-a-lifetime event and it will be an honor and a celebration,” Richie added.

According to a past article from the publication, a number of large artists had turned down playing Charles’ coronation, including Adele, Harry Styles, and Elton John, the latter of which cited scheduling issues. (However, John had also been a close friend of the late Princess Diana.)

“The royal family has faced a number of PR disasters in recent times, and anyone performing at the show would have to consider whether there would be a backlash from appearing amongst their fans,” Simon Jones, a publicist, explained to them why many wouldn’t appear.

Trump Seemed To Drag Mike Pence For Getting Booed At That NRA Shindig

An epidemic of mass shootings, some at schools, didn’t stop the National Rifle Association from holding their annual convention. Nor did it stop the majority of prominent Republicans from either showing up to deliver defiant speeches or recording videos of same. Among them were the previous president and his veep, who haven’t been on great terms since the former almost got the latter murdered during an event Trump blamed on Pence. Both were present, albeit not at the same time, which got pretty awkward after Pence got booed.

Pence appeared earlier on Friday, and when he came out, he found himself having to withstand an avalanche of boos, presumably from MAGA die hards, whose animosity for him hasn’t dwindled after he was nearly hung on Jan. 6. Pence took it in stride, joking, “I love you, too.”

Later Trump took the stage, delivering one of his rambling, pissy soliloquies, in which he tried to blame mass shootings on — who else? — transgender people, threatened mass deportations if re-elected, and once again dropped “the n-word” (no, not that one). He took a few seconds to address his former number two, albeit cryptically.

“I hope you gave Pence a good warm approval,” he told a crowd that booed him. He then called him “a nice man” and a “good man” before delighting in saying their treatment of him was “very rough” and “a big news story.”

“I don’t know what you did, but you made news today with with the introduction you gave!” he said, almost certainly knowing what happened.

Trump also dragged his other 2024 Republican rivals, some of whom were participating in the same convention. He gloated about how Nikki Haley was dragging in the polls, predicted Greg Abbott wouldn’t run, and bragged that he was trouncing Ron “DeSanctis” — another of his lame nicknames for the Florida governor when he already has a good one. The message was clear: The Republican, who won’t do anything to curtail historic gun violence in America, are in disarray.

Toni Collette Has ‘No Regrets’ For Turning Down ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’

Many actors have big roles they famously turned down, and Toni Collette is no exception. The beloved actress, who can currently be seen in Mafia Mamma, was one of the performers considered for the lead in Bridget Jones’ sDiary, along with such luminaries as Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Emily Watson, and Rachel Weisz. She actually turned it down, but does she mourn for an alternate timeline in which she played one of the more iconic roles of the aughts? Not really.

As per Insider, Collette appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, which allows people to call in over Zoom to ask guests questions. During one call, Collette was asked if she felt bad about turning down the role, which she did in part because she was busy with her Broadway debut, The Wild Party, which also featured Mandy Patinkin and Earth Kitt.

“I don’t regret anything,” Collette replied. “I think there are no coincidences. Anything that’s meant for you in life is meant to happen. I have no regrets — life happens as it’s meant to. But that is true, yeah.”

It’s not the first time Collette was asked about the move. Late last year she spoke about it in an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment.

“I wasn’t available, but sometimes I think about that, and I think, I don’t know, that character’s so similar to Muriel,” she said, referring to her starmaking role in Muriel’s Wedding. “It might’ve been too close. And I try not to repeat myself.”

So don’t even bother thinking about what could have been had Renee Zelwegger not clinched the role, which she resurrected back in the teens. All’s good.

Metro Boomin’s Star-Studded Coachella Set Included The Weeknd, John Legend, Future, And Many More Guests

Metro Boomin played Coachella Friday, April 14, and he truly brought the heat, complete with a notable lineup of surprise guests. He opened his set with John Legend, with the two performing “On Time” together.

Future then joined Metro for six songs, including “Mask Off,” “Superhero (Heroes & Villains),” and “Wicked.” They also teased that their album is on the way.

Metro Boomin used “Metro Spider” as a solo take before then bringing out Don Toliver for “I Can’t Save You,” “Too Many Nights,” and “Around Me.”

After a brief interlude, in which he played the song he has with 21 Savage, Metro was then joined by the fellow rapper, and they went on to play six songs. Among the selections were some of their collabs, including “Bank Account” and “No Heart,” and a cover of Drake’s “Knife Talk.”

The Weeknd and Mike Dean then continued Metro Boomin’s guest lineup, where they played the live debut of “Double Fantasy,” according to Setlist.FM. During The Weeknd’s appearance, he also seemed to shade Rolling Stone, after leaving them out of the regular lyrics to “Heartless,” given a recent article came out about his upcoming HBO series, The Idol.

Future returned once more to join the two to play his song, “Low Life.”

Last but certainly not least, 21 Savage and Diddy joined Metro and The Weeknd to perform “Creepin’” as the set’s closer.

Heat-Bucks Playoff Preview: Can Miami Find Enough Offense Against Milwaukee?

For the third time in four years, the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks will meet in the postseason. In 2020, it was Miami stunning Milwaukee in a 5-game drubbing on their way to the Finals. A year later, Milwaukee exacted its revenge in a sweep of the Heat on their way to a championship.

This time around, it’s in the 1-8 first round matchup after the Heat stumbled their way into the playoffs by beating the Bulls in their second Play-In game, after losing to the Hawks at home in the first. Milwaukee will be substantial favorites in the series for good reason, but Miami will look to make life difficult for the Bucks and maybe steal one early to give themselves a chance.

Keys for the Heat

For Miami, it’s pretty simple. They’re going to have to shoot the ball incredibly well from three-point range throughout the series to have a chance against the Bucks. Seeing Max Strus get going against the Bulls was a welcome sight, as he had 31 to match Jimmy Butler for top scoring honors in the win, but Miami will need more than just Strus to get going from distance if they’re to pull off the upset. Tyler Herro is going to have to be at his best, while the “others” like Gabe Vincent, Caleb Martin, and Kevin Love are going to need to be legit threats if they’re going to pry open the Bucks defense that is always looking to wall off the paint first. That’s always Milwaukee’s top line on the defensive gameplan, but against a Heat team so reliant on getting to the basket with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, the Bucks will be even more focused on protecting the rim in this series.

That means there will be chances to create open shots for the role players, and any chance at a stunning upset starts with them hitting shots at a higher rate than they have all season. From there, Miami will need to recapture some of the defensive magic of 2020 when they frustrated Giannis constantly. Milwaukee’s “others” are better than they were then, and that was evident in the dramatic change in outcomes in the 2021 series. Still, we’ve seen recently how the Bucks halfcourt offense can get bogged down in the playoffs, as it did against Boston a year ago, and if Miami can keep them out of transition (which, again, starts with making shots), then they can hope to get Milwaukee in the mud.

Keys for the Bucks

For Milwaukee, their focus should be on creating a good rhythm on offense. They are an elite defensive team and Miami’s offense doesn’t scare you much no matter who you are, but the way this becomes a tight series is if their offense falters in the halfcourt. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the least of my concerns for Milwaukee, as he has shown the last two postseasons that he’s going to show up and be his MVP-caliber self most every night no matter the defense in front of him.

However, Jrue Holiday in particular needs to get off to a good start in this series as he has had a tendency to become very inefficient offensively in the playoffs. In his two postseasons with the Bucks, he’s posted 39.6/30.8/75.9 shooting splits across 35 games, which is enough of a sample that there’s at least some genuine concern. Part of that is him increasing his defensive intensity and taking on the opposition’s top perimeter matchup, but even so, the Bucks could really use for him to be more like the regular season version of himself offensively in order to make a deep run.

Khris Middleton being back in the fold after missing the conference semis a year ago should help alleviate some of the pressure placed on Holiday to create so much. That said, expect Milwaukee to look for ways to manage Middleton’s minutes load as they have all season to try and keep him fresh for the later rounds as he continues to manage his knee issues. He’s started to find a rhythm in the second half of the season, and if he can be close to his 2021 level, that’s what will unlock the Bucks’ full potential as a contender. Milwaukee getting the 1-seed allows them to avoid having to possibly play both of the other East top dogs, and with that comes the hope that their stars won’t have to put up quite the same minutes load as the Celtics and Sixers in the early rounds.

X-Factors

Tyler Herro is the one player on the Heat capable of taking their offense to another level, but he rarely is consistent enough game to game to be counted on as a major factor in a series. Still, he’s their one hope at finding someone who can just get hot and force Milwaukee to adapt its gameplan defensively. If he can find a way to do that against the Bucks’ length and pressure, things can open up more for Butler and Adebayo — who likewise needs to consistently assert himself offensively in a way we haven’t seen from him. Both of those things are big asks, but that’s how it goes for a considerable underdog.

On Milwaukee’s side, it’s the shooting of the “others” that can determine whether this series requires real work of their stars or can be a relative breeze in four or five games, as the Bucks would love to have as the 1-seed. Joe Ingles, Bobby Portis, Grayson Allen, and Jevon Carter all figure to remain in the rotation for the first round (and given Mike Budenholzer’s tendencies to keep his rotations deep, probably most of the postseason as well), and if they can knock down shots at a strong clip, it’s hard to see the Heat having much of a chance.

Trump Has Made Almost No Money Off Of Truth Social (But A Fair Amount Off His Wackadoodle NFTs)

It’s been a year and change since Donald Trump, once banned from Twitter, launched his rinky-dink clone of the service. How’s it doing? Better than Trump Steaks or his board game, but nowhere near even the Elon Musk iteration of same. In fact, he’s making pretty much no money off of it.

As per Insider, Trump was forced to file a financial disclosure form due to him running for president yet again. In the filing, he revealed that he’s made “less than $201” off of the Trump Media & Technology Group, the company that put Truth Social out into the world of social media services. Trump owns 90% of the company, which, despite its low profits for the big guy, is valued at somewhere between $5 million and $25 million.

Still, there’s a silver lining for the self-professed rich guy. On the same form, Trump reported that he made somewhere between $100,000 and $1 million off of CIC Digital, the company that released those much-mocked NFTs last year. Those depicted the former president in a variety of laughably heroic poses, including as an astronaut, a cowboy, a superhero, even holding the Statue of Liberty’s torch.

Trump also reported that he banked around $5 million in speaking fees as well as between $100,000 and $1 million off his 1987 memoir The Art of the Deal, whose ghost writer famously slammed him.

The big guy was clearly reluctant to make his earnings public. He announced his campaign back in November, and sought two separate 45-day extensions before finally reporting his earnings. Had he delayed it any further, he would have faced a $200 fine, or about one dollar less than he made off of Truth Social.

Bad Bunny’s Headlining Coachella Set Had Very Fun Surprises, Including Post Malone, Jhay Cortez, And More

Last night, Bad Bunny kicked off weekend one of Coachella as Friday’s headliner, and he had some surprises in store to set the bar high. During “Safaera,” he brought out Ñengo Flow and Jowell & Randy.

Another special guest included Post Malone joining him on stage for an acoustic set. The two performed “La Canción” (Bunny’s song with J Balvin) and “Yonaguni,” the latter of which was a cappella, due to technical difficulties.

The two also hugged on stage as the crowd cheered. Fans online, however, were surprised by the duo’s friendship and Post’s appearance, given the two have no songs together. “bad bunny and post malone was not on my 2023 bingo card,” one person wrote.

During the performance, Bad Bunny reportedly revealed that Post was helping him practice English while he was teaching him Spanish.

Despite the shaky moment, the show kept going smoothly. Shortly after, Benito had Jhay Cortez out to play three more songs from the B-stage, as they did “Dákiti,” “Tarot,” and “No Me Conoce.”

“The happiest I’ve been during this whole Bad Bunny set was when Jhay Cortez came out because they have the best songs together,” another Twitter user commented.

All The Best Festival Fashion At Coachella 2023

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival returned to Indio, California this weekend, loaded with great music that literally drew fans from all over the world. With Puerto Rican star Bad Bunny and K-pop icons Blackpink among the headliners, Coachella’s global movement is in full swing, with other key artists (Frank Ocean, Blink-182, Phoebe Bridgers) hailing from the festival’s own backyard of Southern California. With so many locales represented, the expectation was that the fans would show up looking as fashionable and as eclectic as ever. And, they certainly delivered.

It’s been slightly more temperate weather conditions in California this year, thanks to a particularly cool and wet SoCal winter (there is even some snow still on the peaks near the fest). One of the questions for the weekend was whether people would tout as much skin as in years past. The answer was a resounding yes, as people still came ready for sun and dancing, even if the thermometer struggled to hit 80 degrees. The fans that didn’t arrive dressed to impress had options as well, with plenty of ways to tout Coachella-specific looks from the many merch vendors and an American Express pop-up with exclusive Blackpink shirts and accessories.

With Coachella’s first day in the books, take a look at some of our favorite festival fashion photos from the fest so far.

The Timberwolves Earned The 8-Seed In The West By Blasting The Thunder

After blowing a big lead against the Lakers in their Play-In opener, the Minnesota Timberwolves came back home needing to beat the frisky Oklahoma City Thunder to punch their ticket to back-to-back playoff appearances — something the franchise hasn’t done in 20 years.

Early on, it became apparent that the size differential in the frontcourt was going to be a problem for the Thunder against Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert, who was returning fresh off of a one-game suspension for punching teammate Kyle Anderson during a timeout. For the second straight game, Towns led the charge for Minnesota, but unlike in L.A., he avoided foul trouble and was able to keep the pedal down through the second half to lead the Wolves to a dominant 120-95 victory.

The All-Star big man finished the game with 28 points (11-of-16 shooting), 11 rebounds, and three assists, as the undersized Thunder simply had no answers for him when he attacked the basket.

Early on the Thunder were able to keep pace, as Jalen Williams and Luguentz Dort knocked down four threes apiece, but the size differential just was too much to overcome. They did make a run late in the third quarter to trim the Minnesota lead to 10, which led to a very nervous, hushed reaction from the Timberwolves crowd that was a bit worried they might be witnessing another collapse.

Anthony Edwards, who bounced back from a dismal game in L.A., stemmed the tide with a pair of big buckets in succession, easing the tension in the building and ultimately proving to end the Thunder’s run. He finished the night with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists, reasserting himself in a big way.

Gobert likewise had a big night in his return, with 21 points and 10 rebounds, including the most shocking play of the night in which he scooped a loose ball, dribbled behind his back, and finished at the rim.

The exclamation point of the game fittingly came from the two big men, as Towns fed Gobert on an alley-oop in transition to punctuate a dominant performance.

After a thriller on Wednesday against New Orleans in which they constantly found an answer for every Pelicans run, the Thunder just didn’t have it in them against the Wolves. Their lack of size in the middle was painfully evident against Towns and Gobert, who Timberwolves fans have to be thrilled to see actually punish a size mismatch consistently and thoroughly for a full game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 22 points, but the Wolves made life hard on him all night, as he was just 5-of-19 from the field. His toughness was on display though, as he returned to the game after taking an inadvertent elbow from Gobert that left him with a nasty shiner on his right eye.

Williams and Dort chipped in 17 points, but OKC just didn’t have the offensive firepower in this one. Minnesota got a balanced attack, led by their three stars but with assistance from Mike Conley (14 points), Nickeil Alexander-Walker (12 points and terrific defense on his cousin, SGA), and Kyle Anderson (11 points off the bench).

The Thunder move into an offseason with far better vibes than any of the other teams that have exited the Play-In alongside them, as their appearance was a surprise and with Chet Holmgren entering the fold next year along with more young talent via their many draft picks — and the possibility that this is the summer some of those get cashed in for veteran help in trades — there is real optimism about the immediate future in Oklahoma City.

The Timberwolves, meanwhile, avoid disaster and get a much needed good vibes win to build momentum into the playoffs, where they will travel to Denver on Sunday to face Nikola Jokic and company in a very difficult series. Still, they have the talent to make things interesting against Denver provided they can put it all together on a nightly basis. That’s far from a guarantee given how their season has gone, but they’ll have a puncher’s chance and will ride a wave of positivity after a dominant win over OKC.

Kaytranada Brought Out Kali Uchis And Aminé As Some Surprise Guests During His Coachella Set

Kaytranada played his Coachella set today, as it was being livestreamed from the outdoor stage. He also brought out a few surprise guests during his performance — keeping with the festival’s tradition of bringing some friends along.

Kali Uchis showed up so the two could deliver their collab, “10%,” after he teased a loop of her vocals on the song. Fans watching from their devices were instantly thrilled.

“I wake up, it’s so good to be me / In the mirror, it’s good to see me / I don’t check for these other b*tches / You can ask God ’cause that’s my witness,” she sang.

As the story goes, back in 2019, the pair had originally premiered the song (and their fourth collaboration) at Coachella, so this brings things full circle.

“Kaytranada brought Kali Uchis out! I’m gagged,” one fan wrote. “yooo kali coming out during kaytranada’s set doing 10% was something i needed today,” another added.

Later into the set, he also brought out Aminé, given the two have a joint album project, titled Kaytraminé, on the horizon.

Throughout the rest of Kaytranada’s show, he incorporated songs like Beyoncé’s “Cuff It” to heighten his trippy and energetic stage presence.

Check out clips from all of Kaytranada’s special guests during his set above.
