Trump Went On A Bizarre Rant About ‘Gangs Of Hundreds’ Stealing Refrigerators From ‘Apartment Stores’

Republicans love to claim Joe Biden is “senile” or cognitively impaired. But — and hear us out on this one — what if it’s all projection? What if one of the biggest people calling out the current president’s alleged mental decline is himself suffering from something similar? We’re of course talking about Donald Trump.

At Friday’s annual National Rifle Association convention — held amidst a massive uptick in mass shootings, including at schools — Trump delivered one of his rambling, self-absorbed whine-fests. He blamed the gun epidemic on transgender people, of course. He made fun of Mike Pence, who got booed earlier. He again talked about the “n-word” (no, not that one).

He also at one point made a bizarre detour into something about “hundreds” of people stealing refrigerators from “apartment stores.”

“When you see these gangs of hundreds of young, usually young people go and attack an apartment store, a department store in San Francisco and Los Angeles and Chicago,” a former U.S. president told the crowd. “And they run in by the hundreds and they’re running out carrying refrigerators, and carrying air conditioners, big stuff, big, little everything. Fur coats, non-fur coats, everything they’re carrying. They empty out the stores.”

As is often the case with Trump’s addresses, it’s not clear what he’s talking about. He has a habit of parroting half-remembered information someone may have told him a few days prior. Did someone tell him people are running around with giant refrigerators on their backs? Who knows!

Whatever the case, a lot of people called bull.

Then again, maybe all the people mocking Trump’s weird broken brain are simply forgetting about that “difficult” cognitive test he took a few years ago, which he couldn’t stop bragging about passing.

Ja Morant Injured His Right Hand Or Wrist On A Scary Fall After Anthony Davis Slid In Front For A Charge

Ja Morant has been a dominant postseason player when healthy over the last two years, but a year ago his playoffs got cut short due to an injury in Game 3 of the second round against the Warriors. This year, he got off to a solid, even if not spectacular, beginning to his 2023 postseason campaign, scoring 18 points in 30 minutes of action, but in the mid-fourth quarter, he once again had to exit a playoff game with a scary looking injury.

Morant skied to the rim over Anthony Davis who had slid in front to try and take a charge (which he successfully drew, per the officials), but as he came crashing to the floor, he landed awkwardly on his right hand and wrist and was in serious pain, having to leave the court immediately.

You could see on the final replay how his right hand actually gets turned over as he braces himself, leading to the injury that caused him to exit the game.

He would eventually return to the bench with his hand and wrist wrapped, but would not re-enter the game creating plenty of concern moving forward for the Grizzlies in the series. While Memphis hung around briefly, the Lakers would go on a 15-0 run to end the game, closing out what became a 128-112 road win for L.A. It was not a particularly good showing from Memphis, but they were in the game until Morant left with just under six minutes to play and things started to fall apart after that. Without him, they face a seriously uphill battle and we’ll await word on just how severe the injury is and whether he’ll miss time going forward in the series.

UPDATE: The good news on the initial update is there was nothing broken in Morant’s hand or wrist after X-rays were taken, but Taylor Jenkins did say he’s still dealing with considerable pain.

Anthony Davis Injured His Right Shoulder In Game 1 Against The Grizzlies

As Game 1 of their first round matchup began in Memphis on Sunday afternoon, the Lakers leaned heavily on Anthony Davis in the early going. Davis had 10 points, six rebounds, five blocks, and two assists in his first 18 minutes of action, dominating the paint on both ends in the first half.

Unfortunately, late in the second quarter Davis suffered a right shoulder injury in a battle for a rebound with Jaren Jackson Jr.. After Jackson knocked the ball away from Davis and out of bounds, the All-Star center came up holding his arm and appeared to tell the Lakers bench “I can’t move my arm.”

Davis would get worked on briefly on the bench before being taken back to the locker room for further work and evaluation from the Lakers trainers, with reporters in the arena noting he didn’t move his arm at all while he was on the court and walking back into the tunnel.

Given Davis’ injury history and importance to the Lakers having any chance at a deep playoff run, there is considerable concern for the Lakers and their fans seeing him go down this early in the series. He has had right shoulder issues in the past, and the hope will be this was just a stinger and is something he can return from fairly quickly and without causing him any extended discomfort as this series moves forward.

UPDATE: The initial diagnosis is a stinger, per Adrian Wojnarowski, but they’re going to continue testing him during halftime.

Davis was available to return to the game, per the team, and was on the court for warmups with the team after the half, which is very good news for L.A..

It’ll be worth monitoring if the same level of aggression is there for Davis after such a dominant first half, but given he was the lone Lakers starter with a positive +/- in the first half, having him back certainly raises their chances to come back from six down at the half.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims She Saw Marijuana ‘Zombies’ During Her NYC Trip

Marjorie Taylor Greene was in New York City the other week and she did not have a good time. She came to the Big Apple to protest Donald Trump’s arraignment, expecting to whip up a large crowd. She even tried to beef with Mayor Eric Adams. Instead she was effectively chased away from the site. Later she told Tucker Carlson that she found the city “disgusting.” Nearly two weeks later she’s still trashing the nation’s greatest city.

On Sunday, the MAGA lawmaker retweeted an op-ed published by The New York Post which claimed that weed, which was legalized in the city in 2021, is “turning New York workers into zombies.” Greene coudn’t agree more.

“I saw them when I went there to protest against the weaponization of government against President Trump by a George Soros funded DA,” Greene tweeted.

Marijuana “zombies” (there’s a band name for whoever wants it) was another surreal exaggeration from Greene, who had previously claimed that she saw “people basically dying on drugs” who “can’t even stand up.” There was also the now de rigueur GOP claim about rampant crime when it’s actually down, both from last year and historically.

(Also Alvin Bragg did not get money directly from George Soros, as many Republicans have dog-whistled.)

The NY Post op-ed complained not about the marijuana stench that’s taken over the city (which, to be fair, is only a slight exaggeration) but about the service workers. Specifically the writer claimed are now high on the job and getting his orders wrong. He had to ask a Starbucks barista three times for a “tall” coffee!

“They’re stoned up the wazoo, hollow-eyed, disengaged from their tasks, their breath reeking of weed,” he complained about the city’s working class, who he accused of hanging outside of smoke shops, getting high and starting knife fights.

It’s yet another example of conservatives fear-mongering about a city that’s about as safe as it’s ever been, especially compared to the days when their favorite president ruled the town (in between bankruptices). Hey, whatever keeps Greene from coming back.

Charli XCX’s Coachella Set Included A Very Special Message To All The ‘Bad Girls,’ Which Included Rosalía And Blackpink

The first weekend of Coachella was one for the history books in more ways than one. On the opening night, with the closing performance, Bad Bunny became the first Latin artist headliner. However, he wasn’t the only musical act to set a record. On Saturday, April 15, K-pop stars Blackpink also set a record of their own: The quartet became the first-ever Korean group to headline Coachella. Moved by this monumental feat, singer Charli XCX took a moment during her set prior to their set to acknowledge the occasion.

As the pop star transitioned between tracks, she screamed to the crowd, “This song is for all my bad girls out there. All the bad girls who came to see me, Rosalía and Blackpink, in your f*cking area b*tch.” Both Blackpink and Charli XCX have performed at Coachella in the past, which must have moved the songwriter to shout out the group along with Latin music star Rosalía. Later that evening, Rosalía and Blackpink took the stage.

That wasn’t the only special moment the “Break The Rules” singer had on stage. Bringing out her “1999” collaborator Troye Sivan, the pair had the chance to shock fans with a surprise performance of the track off of her 2019 album, Charli.

Blackpink And Jai Paul Made Coachella A Historic Occasion

“Did you notice the wind stop?” Blackpink’s Rosé asked a crowd of thousands of screaming fans during their main stage headlining set. “I think it was all the Blinks,” she said. It was an example of how everyone, including the weather, seemed to stop in anticipation of Blackpink’s historic set during day two of Coachella 2023. With artists like the K-pop megagroup, Rosalía, Labrinth, and Jai Paul‘s first-ever concert, day two was certainly one to remember. Let’s recap what we saw.

Friday night, Bad Bunny became the first-ever Latin solo artist to headline the main Coachella stage. This time, Blackpink were the ones making history. The girl group became the first-ever Korean act to headline the festival, and they certainly delivered on expectation. The four pop stars opened with their hit number “Pink Venom” and it didn’t take long for fireworks to light up the stage, mirroring the group’s explosive energy. Everything from their engaging choreography to their black-and-pink outfits were expertly planned. A long stage bisecting the crowd allowed them ample space to move around and highlight their collective force, while the big-screen cameras were more focused on giving each of the individual performers their spotlight moment. After launching into tracks like “Kill This Love” and “How You Like That,” Blackpink gave each member the opportunity to shine with their solo efforts. Jennie was first, singing her solo number “You & Me” complete with a dance break. Jisoo, the last Blackpink member to release a solo track, delivered her song “Flower,” which dropped only a few weeks ago. Rosé was next with a version of “On The Ground” and “Gone” and Lisa came last in the solo act lineup with her track “Money,” which had the crowd screaming along.

Blackpink’s set wasn’t the only historic Coachella performance of the night. All eyes were on Jai Paul, who had his first-ever performance. That’s right — not just his first-ever Coachella performance, but his first time performing live ever. The UK artist gained popularity over a decade ago but took an extended hiatus after his music was leaked online. In 2019, the artist returned to drop his music in an official capacity. Because Jai Paul isn’t used to performing in front of a crowd, much less to a crowd of thousands at one of the biggest festivals in the world, it was clear he had some understandable nerves. Unlike seasoned performers like Blackpink or Charli XCX, Jai Paul didn’t address the crowd during his set or try to hype up the audience. Instead, he walked out on stage and launched straight into the music. Even still, his dance-y beats and impressive falsetto vocals were enough to win over the crowd as he played fan-favorite tracks like “Jasmine,” “BTSTU,” and “Str8 Outta Mumbai.”

Speaking of stage presence, Charli XCX was in full pop star mode. Backed by an electric stage design and small group of immensely talented back-up dancers, Charli showed off her full potential with fun choreography and hyped-up crowd engagement. She continually addressed the crowd during her set, keeping the energy high and eliciting consistent screams of approval from fans. She even shouted out the other artists who would take the main stage after her, saying: “This song is for all my bad girls out there. All the bad girls who came to see me, Rosalía and BLACKPINK in your f*cking area.” It seemed like the entire festival was collectively jumping to songs like “I Love It” and “Vroom Vroom.” She also brought out a surprise guest; fellow singer Troye Sivan joined her for an engaging rendition of “1999” that had the crowd partying like it was 1999.

Rosalía was another seasoned performer who took the Coachella stage. As those watching the livestream at home saw, Rosalía really put her all into her emotional set. At one point, the singer dimmed the lights and poured her heart out to “Diablo.” The singer’s choreography and camera work were un-matched but as a viewer at the festival, it felt like Rosalía was much more focused on giving a performance to the livestream camera rather than to the crowd. Still, she had some touching fan interactions, like when she grabbed one of the cameras and walked out to the crowd barrier to let some fans scream her lyrics into the microphone. Later on in her set, Rosalía brought out a special guest: her recent fiancé, Rauw Alejandro. Together, the two delivered a few tracks off their collaborative EP and shared some adorable moments on stage.

Rosalía and Charli XCX weren’t the only artists to bring out big stars during their set. Labrinth closed out the Mojave tent on Saturday night, inviting none other than Billie Eilish to perform their joint track “Never Felt So Alone” to the delight of the screaming crowd. He displayed his powerful vocals while delivering a number of intimate tracks like “Mount Everest” and “Still Don’t Know My Name.” Similarly, Boygenius’ set had many intimate moments, though the crowd was much more sparsely attended since fans had already started packing in to see Blackpink at the next stage over. The group consisting of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus kicked off their set with the a cappella number “With You Without Them” and a hard-rocking rendition of “$20” before moving into quieter numbers like “Emily I’m Sorry.”

Bad Bunny And Kendall Jenner Were Spotted Together At Coachella, So Their Rumored Romance Must Still Be Going Strong

Bad Bunny made history during the opening night of Coachella. During his closing set on the festival’s main stage, the “Ojitos Lindos” rapper became the first Latin music artist to headline the staple music event. Prior to his record-setting performance, he took to social media to let his fans know that as part of his set, he had a message to give them in the form of music. “I have so much to tell you,” wrote the entertainer. However, nowhere in his on-stage appearance did he make mention of his rumored relationship with model and reality TV star Kendall Jenner.

Bad Bunny brought out a heap of special guests, Post Malone, Jhay Cortez, Ñengo Flow, and Jowell & Randy. But it’s who he didn’t bring on stage that has fans buzzing. Returning to the Empire Polo Grounds on April 15, the supposed couple, along with a few friends, were seen enjoying Rosalía’s performance.

Neither Bad Bunny nor Jenner has spoken publicly about each other and whether they are indeed an item. Jenner has recently split from her longtime on-and-off-again ex-boyfriend, professional basketball player Devin Booker. Meanwhile, Bunny is currently battling a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, Carliz De La Cruz Hernández, for the unauthorized use of her voice throughout his groundbreaking album, Un Verano Sin Ti.

A Crazy No-Call To Decided The EuroLeague Women’s Bronze Medal Game

The EuroLeague Women’s Final Four came to its conclusion on Sunday, starting with a bronze medal game between Beretta Famila Schio and ZVVZ USK Praha that featured one of the most outrageous endings to any basketball game you’ll see this season.

The final 30 seconds saw Marina Mabrey (who WNBA fans will know as a former Dallas Wings star, now headed to the Chicago Sky) put Famila Schio ahead by two on a scooping layup, only to be answered by a midrange jumper from Teja Oblak with five seconds to play. That was just the appetizer for one of the all-time unbelievable no-calls swinging the game in favor of Famila Schio, as, after a steal by ZVVZ USK, Valeriane Vukosavljevic got flattened by Mabrey dribbling up the floor and lost the ball, somehow resulting in a play-on, with Egle Sventoraite picking the ball up and banking in a three at the buzzer to win the game — on her first three-point attempt of the entire season

Look, this has to be something. There’s no way you can have this much contact be nothing, especially with Vukosavljevic losing the ball like Sonic losing his rings after running square into Mabrey. Even calling a charge somehow would’ve been better than letting this just go, and ZVVZ USK has plenty of reason to be upset here. That said, this will delight the people who want referees to swallow their whistles in the final seconds of the game no matter the situation.
