Clint Capela Picked Up A Steal Without Looking At The Ball

The Atlanta Hawks are trying to figure out what they’re going to need to do to make the postseason this year. Entering Wednesday night’s slate of games, Atlanta sat in the 8-seed in the Eastern Conference, and while they need a miracle to get up to the 6-seed, the more likely answer is their path will take them through the play-in. Of course, the objective there is to get the 7 or 8-seed, so the team will have two chances to win one game in order to make it to the postseason.

Fortunately for the Hawks, Wednesday’s game in Atlanta was against a Washington Wizards team that they’ve beaten twice already this season and is eliminated from postseason contention. At the bare minimum, the game is going to end up being remembered because Clint Capela did something completely ludicrous to register a steal.

Jordan Goodwin drove to the rim, where he was promptly met by the big fella. While he originally looked like he wanted to go up for a layup, he tried to wrap around Capela for a pass to someone else. It never got there, though, because Capela threw his arm out and managed to steal the ball.

It is unclear how Capela did this, but regardless, it is very impressive.

Indigo De Souza Leaves Toxicity Behind In Her ‘You Can Be Mean’ Video

Indigo De Souza is inching closer to the April 28 release of her album All Of This Will End, and on Wednesday, she processed the end of a toxic relationship in her video for “You Can Be Mean.”

“I wrote ‘You Can Be Mean’ about a brief toxic experience I had with a manipulative and abusive LA model f*ckboy. However brief, it had a life-long impact on my understanding of self,” De Souza wrote in a statement posted on Instagram. “Leading up to that experience, I had a history of putting myself in toxic situations and pining for validation from people who treated me poorly. I was stuck in some delusion that I could help abusive people through their trauma and teach them to love me in the way I deserved. I wrote this song when I finally realized that I could choose not to allow harmful behavior into my life, and that there is a deep, deep importance in protecting the body and spirit.”

She continued, “I stopped caring about validation from a**holes, stopped thinking it was my responsibility to help them, and started caring for myself in a real way. Once I made that switch in my psyche, I began to manifest truly loving, safe, kind, and communicative people into my life. Being loved in the way I deserve begins with loving myself in the way I deserve. Boundaries are so important. The body is a sacred and fragile thing and it deserves every ounce of care.”

De Souza spoke with Uproxx about her mindset while writing All Of This Will End last month.

“I was living alone and I had a lot of time on my hands because we were in lockdown,” she said. “Everything was in this standstill, and I was watching all of the systems that I’d been surrounded by my whole life fall apart, and people that said they knew what they were doing didn’t know what they were doing. It felt like this huge veil was lifted off America, and we were just seeing everything for what it has been the whole time but it’s been hiding itself. It was just so ugly.”

De Souza added, “I think it just brought me a lot closer to myself and to my friends, and then all of those songs poured out in a weird way. I almost don’t even remember writing them that much. It’s kind of a blur because that time was kind of a blur.”

Tim Hardaway Jr. Rejected His Dad’s Claim That Luka Doncic And Kyrie Irving Are Not Leaders

Things could be going a lot better for the Dallas Mavericks right now. Despite pulling off a gigantic trade at the deadline to acquire Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas finds itself facing quite the uphill climb down the home stretch of the season, as the team is a half-game back of the Oklahoma City Thunder (which hold the tiebreaker between the two teams) for the 10-seed in the Western Conference with three games left to play.

The last thing the team wants right now is something that pulls attention away from what they need to do on the coach, but on Wednesday, something less than ideal popped up. Tim Hardaway — the Hall of Fame guard whose son, Tim Jr., plays for the Mavs — went onto FS1’s The Carton Show and expressed his belief that Dallas does not have a leader. To make matters worse, Hardaway specifically mentioned Irving and Luka Doncic.

“They’re missing a leader,” Hardaway said. “They’re missing a leader out there. Luka is not a leader, Kyrie is not a leader. Jalen Brunson was a leader.”

Mentioning Brunson on the heels of Doncic saying earlier in the week that the team misses him “a lot” is especially harsh. The issue is that Hardaway did not appear to run this take by his son first, and prior to Wednesday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings, the younger Hardaway told the press that he disagrees with his dad “1000%.”

Wednesday night’s game against Sacramento is the first in a three-game homestand to close the season for the Mavericks, which includes games against Chicago and San Antonio.

Pharrell Turned 50 Today, And Fans Can’t Believe He’s Actually That Old

It’s fitting that Pharrell is a mononym because he is a one-of-a-kind. Speaking with The Guardian earlier this year, the music and fashion icon shared how he’s remained ageless.

This interview is worth revisiting today, April 5, which is his 50th birthday.

“I have been dealing with my dermatologist for 26 years,” Pharrell told The Guardian. “It’s a combination of things. One is understanding that I needed to be curious about how my skin works, what works for it, and then coming up with some sort of regimen and being committed to it. That’s what led us to stepping into skin health [Williams launched a vegan skincare range called Humanrace in 2020].”

He continued, “Once you understand that you have to be curious about how your skin behaves or conducts itself, that’s when you realize there’s a routine for you. Then be committed; that’s when you have success. The second part was just through experimentation – trying everything out, from over-the-counter to prescription.”

Even if there’s an explanation for it, fans simply won’t accept that Pharrell is 50:

“HBD to my brother @Pharrell… I’ve been around for almost half of the 50, and I gotta say, you’re just getting started,” Justin Timberlake tweeted.

It appears that Pharrell rang in the milestone with the likes of Nigo, Pusha T, and Steven Victor. Fans will have the opportunity to celebrate belatedly at Something In The Water Festival later this month.

Charlie Cox Said He Was Told To Hold For Applause While Filming His Daredevil Cameo In ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Marvel loves their cameos and Easter Eggs. They sometimes get the biggest audience reactions. Consider Doctor Strange 2. That film effectively stops dead in its tracks halfway through to show off the alternate universe versions of characters like Reed Richards, Captain Marvel, and Captain America, all while moviegoers cheer. But that one had nothing on Spider-Man: No Way Home, which brought back Spidey heroes and villains across three different iterations of the franchise. Marvel honchos knew each one would get a big reaction, so much so that they told at least one actor to basically hold for applause.

At a recent appearance at MEGACON Orlando, Charlie Cox — who’s played Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, since 2015, and will again in the forthcoming new series Born Again — recalled a strange piece of direction he received when filming his No Way Home cameo.

“The way they shot the scene, Jon Favreau said something, and then it’s my line,” Cox told the crowd, as caught by a TikTok-er. “They wanted me to put the cane down and then wait for the camera to come around before I said my line. And I said to the director, ‘That’s weird, why are you doing that? It feels like I should just speak.’ And he’s like, ‘No, because people are going to be really excited.’”

Hopefully you saw No Way Home with a crowd that hooped and hollered upon seeing Cox’s Daredevil for the first time since the show was axed in 2019. Otherwise it was probably an awkward experience. But hey, imagine what it would have been like had it been Ben Affleck instead.

Ditch the fish: Omega-3 algae supplements go straight to the source for sustainable wellness

Editor’s Note: Calgee is an affiliate partner of Upworthy and we earn a portion of revenue from these partnerships.

Omega-3 supplements have become increasingly popular due to their numerous health benefits. They are a rich source of essential fatty acids, which are crucial for maintaining overall wellness. They also improve brain function, reduce inflammation, and lower the risk of chronic diseases. The problem is the current method for producing Omega-3 supplements relies heavily on unsustainable fishing practices. In fact,
approximately 50 fish are killed to produce a single bottle of traditional Omega-3 supplements. But a company called Calgee is revolutionizing the market by providing sustainable, ethically sourced Omega-3 supplements made from algae.

Benefits of Omega-3s

Omega-3s are essential fatty acids that the human body cannot produce. They are crucial for maintaining the health of the brain, heart, and joints and can reduce inflammation and lower triglyceride levels. Studies have also shown that omega-3s may even reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis.

Unlike traditional omega-3 supplements sourced from fish that feed on Omega-3-rich plants, Calgee’s supplements are made directly from algae, a plant-based source that is both sustainable and eco-friendly.
Calgee’s supplements are also vegan-friendly, making them a conscious choice for those who want to avoid consuming animal products. With its innovative and sustainable approach to wellness, Calgee is quickly becoming a leader in the supplement industry.

The Importance of Sustainability

Sustainability is an important concept that involves meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainable products are produced using environmentally-friendly practices and materials. With the increasing awareness of environmental issues, choosing sustainable products to reduce our impact on the planet has become more important than ever.

Fishing practices that are not sustainable can have a devastating impact on marine ecosystems. Overfishing, for example, can cause the depletion of fish populations and disrupt the balance of the marine food chain. Fishing practices like trawling can also damage the ocean floor and destroy entire ecosystems. Choosing sustainable alternatives to fish-based products, such as Calgee’s vegan omega-3 supplements, is an important way to reduce the impact of unsustainable fishing practices.

Calgee

Calgee’s vegan omega-3 supplements are a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to fish-based supplements. Algae is a renewable resource that can be grown in a controlled environment, making it a more sustainable source of omega-3s than traditional fish-based supplements. Furthermore, Calgee’s supplements are produced using eco-friendly and sustainable practices, such as using solar power to generate energy for production. By choosing Calgee’s supplements, consumers can consciously choose to support sustainable products that are better for the planet.

Algae-based Omega-3s

When it comes to omega-3 supplements, there are two main sources: fish and algae. While fish-based supplements are more commonly known, algae-based supplements offer a more sustainable and ethical alternative. Algae-based omega-3s are comparable in quality to fish-based omega-3s and offer several additional benefits.

Algae-based omega-3s contain two essential fatty acids: EPA and DHA. These fatty acids are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and can help to reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and arthritis. Additionally, EPA and DHA are important for brain function and development, making them an essential part of a healthy diet.

Calgee’s vegan omega-3 supplements offer many benefits for overall wellness. By using algae as a source of omega-3s, Calgee’s supplements are free from contaminants and pollutants sometimes found in fish-based supplements. The company also does lab tests for each batch to test for known allergens and heavy metals.

Additionally, Calgee’s supplements are vegan-friendly, making them suitable for those who follow a plant-based diet. With its sustainable and ethical approach to wellness, Calgee is setting a new standard in the supplement industry. By choosing Calgee’s supplements, consumers can feel confident that they are making a conscious choice for their health and the planet.

Omega 3

Backed By Science

Calgee’s supplements are made using a unique process that involves growing algae in a controlled environment. The algae are then harvested and processed to extract the omega-3s, which are then encapsulated into easy-to-swallow vegan capsules.

Calgee’s supplements are backed by scientific research demonstrating their effectiveness and safety. Numerous studies have shown that algae-based omega-3s are comparable in quality to fish-based omega-3s and offer similar health benefits. Additionally, Calgee’s supplements have undergone rigorous testing to ensure their purity and safety.

An Ethical Alternative

With its commitment to sustainability and transparency, Calgee is setting a new standard in the supplement industry. Consumers can feel confident that they are making a safe and healthy choice by choosing Calgee’s supplements.

Consuming animal products has become a contentious issue due to the ethical implications associated with the meat and dairy industries. Many people now opt for plant-based alternatives to avoid contributing to animal cruelty and environmental degradation. Calgee recognizes the importance of this ethical stance and is committed to veganism and animal welfare.

Calgee’s supplements are 100% vegan-friendly and free from animal byproducts or fillers. The company is committed to using only sustainable and ethical ingredients and is transparent about its manufacturing processes. By choosing Calgee’s supplements, consumers can be confident that they are making an ethical choice that aligns with their values.

And Calgee’s commitment to veganism and sustainability extends beyond just its products. It is woven into the company’s overall mission. Even their packaging is made from a plant-based plastic pouch that is 100% recyclable and reusable. It’s carbon negative and made using renewable resources. They also donate 1% of sales to Sea Hugger, a California-based nonprofit that helps heal the marine environment from plastic pollution. So by supporting Calgee, consumers know they’re supporting a company that values ethical and sustainable business practices.

Ditch The Fish, And Save The Planet

If you’re looking for a way to support your overall wellness while also making a conscious and ethical choice, Calgee’s vegan omega-3 supplements are a great place to start. They are good for your health and a great way to support sustainable and ethical business practices prioritizing animal welfare and the environment. Mark Cuban Blamed Jalen Brunson’s Dad, Knicks Assistant Rick Brunson, For Extension Talks Going ‘South’

The Dallas Mavericks’ inability to keep Jalen Brunson last offseason has been pretty well-documented. Brunson, on the heels of a breakout 2021-22 campaign, hit unrestricted free agency and decided to join the New York Knicks on a 4-year, $104 million deal. Much has been made of the Mavs missing opportunities to extend Brunson before and during the season, while the Knicks had no qualms making their intention to pursue Brunson clear, to the point that they hired his father, longtime NBA assistant coach Rick Brunson, to serve as an assistant under Tom Thibodeau.

Fast forward to today and New York is clinched a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference, while Dallas is going to need a lot of help down the stretch run of the regular season to sneak into the play-in. While that’s going on, Mavs owner Mark Cuban decided to speak to the media on Wednesday before the team plays the Sacramento Kings, and claimed that Brunson’s father played a major role in negotiations imploding.

There are, apparently, some text messages that Cuban showed to Townsend that allegedly support these claims.

Cuban had one more trick up his sleeve, too, revealing that the team never had a chance to give Brunson the reported 4-year, $56 million extension that has been speculated.

Cuban’s comments come one day after Luka Doncic told the media that the Mavericks miss Brunson “a lot.”

Adele And James Corden Were Spotted Filming What Some Believe Will Be The Final ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Adele fell in love with performing to intimate audiences during her Weekends With Adele residency in Las Vegas, so much so that she extended it, beginning in June and running through November. There is no venue smaller than a car, so it makes sense that Adele was all smiles while spotted filming what appeared to be an edition of “Carpool Karaoke” with James Corden in Los Angeles this week.

The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday, April 5, that Adele will serve as the final “Carpool Karaoke” guest before The Late Late Show With James Corden ends on April 27. That has not been confirmed, but Corden did speak with Entertainment Tonight over the weekend about what viewers can expect from the home stretch of The Late Late Show.

“My last guest is going to be huge pop star,” Corden teased. “There’s some really fun things to come. Twelve shows, three ‘Carpool Karaokes,’ last ‘Crosswalk the Musical.’ A really big bit, with I think maybe the biggest movie star in the world.”

Corden announced last April that he was planning to leave The Late Late Show at some point in 2023. His departure date of April 27, 2023 was revealed in February, as per Variety.

Adele’s first round on “Carpool Karaoke” aired in January 2016 and generated a record-breaking 260.5-plus million views on YouTube. You can refresh your memory of that below.

‘Street Fighter’ Is Getting A New Movie, Nearly Three Decades After The First Big Screen Attempt

There’s a new Super Mario Bros. movie out this weekend, which is a good reminder that video games and cinema have long had a bumpy relationship. Indeed, the first was 1993’s Super Mario Bros., which almost killed the genre right out of the gate. The Street Fighter movie, released six months later and starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, did somewhat better, but it wasn’t until Mortal Kombat the following year that audiences started flocking to films based on games they could play at home.

Jump back to 2023 and the genre is thriving. Along with The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the latest Mortal Kombat film did well. Perhaps that’s why Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind the likes of the new Godzilla/Kong movies, Dune, and smaller fare like BlacKkKlansman, is bringing Street Fighter back to the multiplex.

Details are currently thin on the ground, though considering the huge scale of some of their movies, expect something along the same lines as the last Mortal Kombat movie. The two franchises have a history together, with the first Mortal Kombat game emerging around the same time as Street Fighter II, both of which took the duel genre to a new level. The big difference was that Kombat was super gory while Street Fighter didn’t allow players to rip out their opponents’ spines.

It’s not the first time the franchise attempted a Mulligan. Back in 2009, Hollywood tried again with Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, which made even less than the first Street Fighter, on a quite large budget. Here’s hoping third time’s the charm.
