Donald Glover’s exaggerated the portrayal of Beyoncé’s super fans, the Beyhive, in his new video series Swarm. Although many parts were blown out of proportion, the show showed just how passionate they were about the “Cuff It” singer. Unfortunately, the U.S. soccer team is learning this the hard way.

On Tuesday, April 11, the team sent out a blast to commemorate player Becky Sauerbrunn’s 200th cap. In the marketing email’s subject line, the league pulled lyrics from the singer’s 2016 song “Sorry,” namely about “Becky with the Good Hair.” The line was used to refer to supposed an unnamed woman whom her husband, Jay-Z, inappropriately entertained during their marriage.

As clever as the parties responsible may have thought the incorporation of pop culture into the release was, the Beyhive wasn’t having it. Later in the day, the team apologized for misusing the lyric.

“U.S. Soccer apologizes for the subject line of our email sent this morning to celebrate Becky Sauerbrunn’s 200th cap,” it read. “It was insensitive and should not have been sent. We have connected with Becky and apologized. We have also reviewed our approval process for external marketing communications and are committed to being more thoughtful in the future,” wrote the organization in a statement.”

The Beyhive is having the last laugh or last line, as the songwriter sings, “Sorry, I ain’t sorry.”

Last month, Abby Grossberg, a former Fox News producer who’d worked with Maria Bartiromo and Tucker Carlson, filed multiple lawsuits against her old employer. Grossberg claimed that Fox lawyers had pressured her, in a “coercive and intimidating manner,” to give misleading testimony in that ginormous Dominion lawsuit against the network. She also had some not-nice things to say about Tucker. But wait, there’s more.

According to The Daily Beast, Grossberg filed amended legal complaints in which she claimed she had made secret recordings of Trump cronies admitting that they knew their voter fraud nonsense was just that. Among them was Rudy Giuliani, who torched his career and reputation in a chaotic — and luckily failed — attempt to overturn the 2020 election, as well as Dr. Pepper enthusiast Sidney Powell. The conversations were held in the Fox control room, and Grossberg captured them with Otter, a popular transcription device.

Here’s some of what she allegedly captured:

During a recording in mid-November 2020, according to Grossberg, Giuliani admitted to Bartiromo that the Trump campaign couldn’t prove some of its Dominion allegations. Asked by Bartiromo what evidence he had implicating Dominion in rigging the election, Giuliani allegedly said “that’s a little harder.” He also conceded that he had no evidence to back up the conspiracy theory that then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had an interest in Dominion. “I’ve read that. I can’t prove that,” he said.

On that same recording, Grossberg says that Powell claimed that a “registered agent for Smartmatic” was on President Joe Biden’s “transition team.” However, when pressed by Bartiromo on her most compelling evidence that voting software flipped votes for Biden, Powell merely said the Trump campaign had “a witness who’s given a foreign declaration about how [the voting software] was created, why it was created, and watched it work.”

Possibly the most damning of Grossberg’s recordings is one from December, between her, Bartiromo, and a “high-ranking advisor to and spokesperson for President Trump and the Trump 2020 presidential campaign.” The latter, the complaint states, admitted point-blank that “there were in fact no issues” with any of the voting machines in Georgia, despite what Trump and cronies asserted to the public. Whoops!

In her legal complaint, Grossberg’s legal team argue that Fox News “deliberately or recklessly failed to produce highly relevant recordings of behind-the-scenes conversations” to Dominion over the course of their lawsuit.

In other words, more good news for Fox News. Their big trial begins on April 17, with Rupert Murdoch and others expected to take the stand. Not that you’d know it from watching the network, where one star also expected to testify talked to the guy who got them in this mess to begin with.

Sabrina Carpenter may have pulled fans’ legs on April Fool’s Day with a fake pregnancy announcement, but her latest post on social media is no joke. On Tuesday, April 11, the “Nonsense” singer was forced to cancel her Portland show due to an anonymous threat against the venue where the show was being held.

The second North American leg of Carpenter’s Emails I Can’t Send Tour has gone off without a hitch since kicking off in mid-March. However, she took to social media to share that a credible threat was made against the venue and would put concertgoers in harm’s way should she continue the show.

“Portland — I can’t tell you how much it breaks my heart; this is the last thing I wanted to do, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be able to perform tonight,” Carpenter wrote. She added, “You will be refunded.” She added, “I am so sorry. I love you very much.”

Before Carpenter’s post, The Seattle Theatre Group representing the venue, Paramount Theatre, had shared that their bag policy was being updated, initially raising concerns.

Promoters for the show, AEG Presents, issued a statement regarding the matter to Rolling Stone. Though the threat was made to a different venue in Portland in which Carpenter was originally slated to perform, “out of an abundance of caution,” and after a “credible threat,” they decided to pull the pull on the show.

“Employees with the Crystal Ballroom called after they received a phone call from an anonymous person claiming they were going to blow up the venue,” Lieutenant Nathan Sheppard of the Portland Police Bureau told Rolling Stone.

All ticket holders for the show will be refunded, and Carpenter’s team is working to reschedule the concert.

Remember the Dark Universe? You might not! Back in 2017 It was supposed to turn the old stable of Universal monsters — Dracula, Frankenstein (and his Creature), the Mummy, the Invisible Man, the Wolf Man, etc — into another Avengers/DCEU. It died after its very first entry, but out of its ashes something beautiful was born: solitary one-offs that allow directors to put unique spins on the classics. First there was The Invisible Man with Elisabeth Moss, then (one still-ongoing pandemic later) Renfield.

Now, according to Deadline, there’s another. Scream (the fifth one) and Scream VI directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet — from the collective known as Radio Silence — have signed up with Universal Pictures to do their own twist on the Universal monster canon.

Which will they go with? Will we get some brooding new twist on the Creature from the Black Lagoon? A psychologically messed-up take on the Wolf Man? Maybe a redo of that cool Invisible Man sequel where the allies have an invisible agent infiltrate the Nazi powers? Perhaps a new monster? Hang tight on that, because what creature they’re going with has yet to be made public.

What’s more, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillet, who broke through with the nifty Ready or Not, won’t be getting to their Universal monster movie for a bit. First they have to make the seventh Scream, which was rushed into production after Scream VI re-confirmed that the longtime meta horror franchise was indeed back in business. Just as Tom Cruise saved movies with Top Gun: Maverick, he also wound up inadvertently saving Universal monster movies by making a truly terrible entry.

Atlanta traveled to Miami on Tuesday night to take on the Heat with the 7-seed in the Eastern Conference on the line, and thanks to a gameplan that was heavily dependent on their ability to pummel their opponents on the glass, the Hawks picked up a 116-105 win.

Two things were crucial in Atlanta taking a 65-50 lead into the locker room at halftime. On one end of the floor, Miami’s offense could not play much worse. An 11-2 run at the end of the half helped make things look a little more respectable, but the Heat trailed by as many as 24 points, largely because they just couldn’t hit shots — the team shot 17-for-45 (37.8 percent) from the field and 4-for-15 (25 percent) from behind the three point line. If not for a throwback, 19-point first half by Kyle Lowry, things would have been bleak for Miami.

It didn’t help that, on the other end of the floor, Atlanta gobbled up offensive rebounds and got prolific scoring efforts off the bench. While the team was generally ok shooting the ball — 23-for-50 (46 percent) from the field, 8-for-25 (32 percent) from three — the Hawks got eight offensive boards, while the trio of Saddiq Bey, Onyeka Okongwu, and Bogdan Bogdanovic combined to score 31 points off of the bench. All of that, in addition to a 13-point, six-assist, six-rebound half from Trae Young, propelled them into the locker room with a double-digit lead.

Miami came out swinging at the start of the second half. The Heat opened up the frame with an 18-8 advantage to get within five points, and while the Hawks were able to get their lead back out to double-digits, Miami put itself into a position where the lead was within arm’s reach, a major turnaround from where it was earlier in the game. But thanks to a 6-0 run to end the frame, Atlanta was able to buy a little breathing room and take a 91-78 lead into the fourth.

The big push by the Heat came early on in the fourth, with Lowry leading the charge as the team was able to go on a 12-4 run to get the lead down to six. Unfortunately for them, a dunk by Bogdanovic and a triple by Dejounte Murray got things back to double-digits at the halfway mark of the quarter. And from that point on, the Hawks were able to keep their opponents at bay, as Miami never got within seven points for the remainder of the evening.

Young’s 25 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists led the way for Atlanta, while six other players scored in double-figures: Murray (18), Bey (17), Bogdanovic (14), Okongwu (12), John Collins (10), and Jalen Johnson (10). While Clint Capela only had four points, his 21 rebounds (eight offensive) were crucial in the Hawks’ 63-39 lead on the glass. Miami, meanwhile, was led by a season-high 33 points off the bench by Lowry, with Herro pitching in 26 and Butler stuffing the stat sheet with 21 points, nine assists, four rebounds, two steals, and a block.

With the win, Atlanta earned a matchup with the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the playoffs. The Celtics hold a 3-0 lead in the season series between the two teams. Game 1 of the series will tip off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST from TD Garden on ESPN.

Grande confessed, “The body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body,” adding, “I was on a lot of anti-depressants and drinking [while] on them and eating poorly. And at the lowest points of my life, when I looked the way you consider to be my healthiest, but that, in fact, wasn’t my healthiest.”

“Healthy can look different,” she emphasized.

Grande wanted to make a second point in the video: “You never know what someone is going through, so even if you are coming from a loving and a caring place, that person is probably working on it. Or has a support system that they are working on that with.”

Even though Grande said she didn’t want to make the video or address the comment, she added that she hopes “something good might come from it.”
