Ahead of her new album, Multitudes, dropping this month, Feist did a new interview with The Irish Times. In it, she spoke about not only her new music, but also her decision to leave Arcade Fire’s tour after sexual misconduct allegations came out against the lead singer, Win Butler, last year.
“I was having an out-of-body experience,” she said. “Not to mention, I had brought all of these new songs. I thought, ‘Okay, maybe I’ll go do this tour and workshop how to play these songs in a bigger context.’”
“I was out-of-body. My body was just doing the songs,” Feist added. “My presence is here. Here is what I’m saying. Here is what I am doing. It was sort of this crime-scene wand. You put a wand up and you can see the fingerprints.”
Feist had completed the tour’s two opening nights in Dublin, donating her merch sales to the local Women’s Aid charity. She then decided to take full responsibility and go home. Beck was also set to support Arcade Fire in North America but dropped out for undisclosed reasons, too.
“It took me until the second show where all of the practical discomfort of having to dismantle this crazy machine and fold it back up and lose what I had invested in being there,” Feist explained. “The whole thing was made so clear to me. I couldn’t continue.”
The Cure’s Robert Smith is continuing his crusade against Ticketmaster. The longtime musician successfully got the company to give fans a partial refund, but he’s continued to criticize their face value policies, Smith has also pushed for his tickets to wind up in the hands of genuine fans.
His latest move has resulted in about 7,000 scalped tickets being canceled and resold for a fair price. The original fees will benefit the Amnesty International charity.
“Approx 7k tickets across approx 2200 orders have been cancelled. These are tickets acquired with fake accounts / listed on secondary resale sites,” he tweeted.
“A weekend thought… This ongoing TM ‘conversation’ is not taking place in a vacuum… The system that values profit over people is really what needs to be changed… X,” Smith added.

Earlier this week, Smith also warned against those “offering to sell/send account login details to get around TM transfer limitations… any/all tickets obtained in this way will be canceled, and original fees paid on those tickets will not be refunded.”

Some fans pointed out that Ticketmaster’s Fan Support is encouraging them to do just that, which just seems to cause more confusion — especially for fans who aren’t reselling and just want their guests to go. Others pointed out screenshots from Reddit of fans getting their tickets canceled completely.

Smith will embark on his first North American run in years with the Songs Of A Lost World Tour, which kicks off on May 10 and will run through early June. More information, along with a complete list of dates, is available here.
Last week Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Twitter account was once again suspended, this time for a tweet that could “incite violence” against trans people. A mere five days later she’ll be profiled on 60 Minutes. The longtime Sunday night news program teased an interview seasoned journalist Lesley Stahl did with the incendiary MAGA lawmaker, but instead of drawing interest, it was met with condemnation.
Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, nicknamed MTG, isn’t afraid to share her opinions, no matter how intense and in-your-face they are. She sits down with Lesley Stahl this Sunday on 60 Minutes. https://t.co/mEN4CWeXMWpic.twitter.com/BIzcRHgrLT
“Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, nicknamed MTG, isn’t afraid to share her opinions, no matter how intense and in-your-face they are,” the show’s Twitter account wrote.
Stahl has been on 60 Minutes for over 30 years, and in that time she’s established herself as one of the most cool-headed interviewers of the rich and powerful. She asks tough questions in a way that doesn’t enrage her interviewees — unless they’re Donald Trump, who famously stormed out of one of their chats shortly before the 2020 election.
Why the hell is 60 Minutes going to give a platform to the hateful bigotry of Marjorie Taylor Greene? She will sit down with Lesley Stahl this Sunday on 60 Minutes to spout lies and hate I’m sure. This tweet is from this morning where she calls Stormy Daniels “old and… pic.twitter.com/cNF6UexiO7
Will Lesley Stahl ask MTG about this “in-your-face” opinion? @60Minutes is normalizing Marjorie Taylor Green for what purpose??? Why do the dirty work for the GOP? I swear even the media needs media literacy. https://t.co/KIQrkEQNaNpic.twitter.com/lah9gGQNo6
I’m done with @60Minutes. This interview normalizes LYING, conspiracy theories, and sedition. She’s on the same side as the Jan 6 insurrectionists. Why are they giving her air time? Such a bad look for Lesley Stahl. https://t.co/WhPkQPb38h
Wisconsin individualist Jeffrey Dahmer, nicknamed the Milwaukee Cannibal, isn’t afraid to set the menu, no matter how resistant the guests are or how tough they are to chew. Jeff sits down with Lesley Stahl this Sunday on 60 Minutes. https://t.co/foSiv4Ncgg
Adolf Hitler, called “Führer” by his friends, isn’t afraid to share his opinion, no matter how intense and in-your-face they are. He sits down with Lesley Stahl this Sunday on 60 Minutes. https://t.co/Mw4D6eO4ro
Russian Leader Vladimir Putin, nicknamed GOAT, isn’t afraid to share his opinions, no matter how intense and in-your-face they are. He sits down with Lesley Stahl this Sunday to laugh at charges the ICC recently brought against him for his intense, in-your-face opinions.
Former Dem presidential nominee and grand wizard of the kkk turned republican rep David duke, nicknamed Duke, isn’t afraid to share his opinions, no matter how intense and in-your-face they are. He sits down with Lesley Stahl this Sunday on 60 Minutes. https://t.co/gmEU1DIKHQhttps://t.co/SIdDxUHlcB
Others trusted Stahl would quietly go for the jugular.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Lesley Stahl has decades of asking politicians incredibly brutal questions on camera, and it’s uncharitable to assume this will be a puff piece.
Earlier this morning, BigHit announced in a statement that BTS’ J-Hope will be embarking on South Korea’s mandatory military service. He will be the second member to do so while the band is on hiatus, with Jin is currently serving.
“The entrance ceremony is a time to be observed by military personnel and their families only,” BigHit‘s statement read. “To prevent any issues that might occur from crowding, fans are advised to refrain from visiting the site. Instead, we ask you to keep your heartwarming words of support and farewell in your hearts.”
“We also advise you not to get adversely affected by purchasing unauthorized tours or product packages that illegally use the artist’s IP. Our company will take necessary action against any attempts at commercial activity making unauthorized use of such IP,” they added. “We ask for your continued love and support for J-Hope until he completes his military service and returns. Our company will also strive to provide all the support he needs during this time. Thank you.”
After the company’s official announcement, J-Hope jumped on WeVerse, where he shared a selfie and a message to fans. “Have a great weekend. Don’t worry too much!!!! I love you, ARMY,” he wrote.

The BTS Army was surprised by the news, as it was timed to April Fools Day — but doesn’t seem like a joke. Continue scrolling for some reactions to J-Hope’s enlistment.

Succession is one of those shows with no likable characters. Even lovable goof Cousin Greg has been ethically wishy-washy from the get-go. But who is the absolute worst? Is it tyrannical Logan? Indirect secret murderer Kendall? Maybe Shiv? Kieran Culkin, who plays endlessly sarcastic sociopath Roman, has an answer. And it’s not who you think. (And it’s also not Roman.)
In a video interview with Esquire, Culkin was asked about who is the most despicable character on a show with a murder’s row of monsters. His answer was not only surprising but well-thought-out:
Connor [played by Alan Ruck] is quite a terrifying and unpredictable man, who basically purchased a person and put her on a ranch. I don’t wanna say against her will…he created a lovely golden cage for her. And she feels trapped, and he knows it, and just, you know, says, “I’ll try to make your dreams come true.” It’s kind of actually terrifying. So, him.
Ruck’s Connor is the only Roy child who’s not biologically related to TV’s most vicious family, and he often seems to lurk in the wings. He’s rarely overtly cruel, unless you’re a catering company and the butter is frozen. In many ways he’s pathetic: He had to strong-arm his girlfriend, Justine Lupe’s Willa, into accepting his marriage proposal, and his presidential campaign is so pathetic he proposed a beyond gaudy wedding.
But maybe Culkin is right: Connor is willing to effectively imprison a woman who’s clearly not that into him. Imagine if he ever became president. Or even a senator. Or, worse, a representative.
You can watch Culkin’s Esquire interview in the video below.
There will not be a labor stoppage in the NBA any time soon. In the early hours of Saturday morning, multiple reports indicated that the league and its Player’s Association came to terms on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, which is set to begin ahead of the 2023-24 season and run for the next seven years, although there is reportedly a mutual opt-out after the sixth year.
Right before the clock hit 3 a.m. on the east coast, the league and the NBPA put out a statement confirming that there is a tentative agreement on a new CBA. As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN noted, the expectation is that the new deal will be “ratified by league governors and players in the coming weeks.”
As for what is going to be in the new CBA, reports indicate that the in-season tournament that Adam Silver has coveted for years will, indeed, be coming to the NBA. There’s also a games played minimum for postseason awards, as players will now need to play at least 65 games to be eligible.
Deal includes In-Season Tournament, 65-game minimum for postseason awards, new limitations on highest spending teams and expanded opportunities for trades and free agency for mid and smaller team payrolls, sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/B8GJWeF4cq
NBA and NBPA have agreed to a minimum number of games played – 65 games – for players to be eligible to win major individual league awards such as MVP in the new CBA, sources tell @TheAthletic@Stadium.
Prize money for the championship team of the NBA’s In-Season Tournament beginning in 2023-24 season: $500,000 per player, sources tell @TheAthletic@Stadium.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, players will now be allowed to use marijuana under the new CBA.
Sources: NBA players will no longer be prohibited for marijuana under the new seven-year Collective Bargaining Agreement. It’s been removed from the anti-drug testing program, a process that began during 2019-20 season.
There are also a number of tweaks to things like maximum contract extensions, the number of two-way contracts a team can have, and perhaps most notably, the ability that more ambitious teams have to spend.
Sources: Additional changes in new CBA:
– A second tax apron that, when reached, will eliminate a team’s taxpayer mid-level exception
– Veteran extension limits will increase from 120 percent to 140 percent
Wojnarowski specifically cited the Clippers and the Warriors while mentioning the new rules regarding teams that spend the most, writing that the league “is implementing a second salary cap apron — $17.5 million over the tax line — and those teams will no longer have access to the taxpayer mid-level in free agency.”
Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour continued last night with her first show of three in Arlington, Texas. It also marked the first performance from her tour openers, Muna, and Swift gave a special shout-out to them during her set.
“They’re a band I love so much,” Swift gushed. “They’re honestly all over every playlist of mine and I’m so happy they joined us tonight because they’re fantastic, and they absolutely killed it.”
“We loved playing for you. and if you saw us wildly dancing during Taylor’s set, no u didn’t,” they added.
thank you for kindly welcoming us to the eras tour, arlington. we loved playing for u. and if you saw us wildly dancing during taylor’s set no u didn’t 🙂
As for Swift’s Arlington night one headlining set, she sprinkled in some new treats as setlist “hijinks” to keep fans on their toes. “The 1” replaced “Invisible String” during the Folklore sequence. She also played “Sad Beautiful Tragic” and “Ours” as the two nightly surprise songs.

Self-professed rich guy Donald Trump has always begged his supporters for money, especially when times are tough. And they’re extra difficult now: Last week, he became the first U.S. president to get indicted on criminal charges. Trump is expected to turn himself in for arraignment on Tuesday, but in the immediate aftermath he made sure to get a ton of scratch off his fans.
As per NBC News, the Trump campaign bragged that in the 24 hours after a Manhattan grand jury voted to punish him over the Stormy Daniels hush money settlement, they raised a whopping $4 million. Of those, they claimed, 25% were from first-time donors, “further solidifying President Trump’s status as the clear frontrunner in the Republican primary.”
To his credit, on Truth Social, Trump didn’t want all of his supporters handing him their hard-earned cash. “If you are doing poorly, as so many of you are, do not send anything,” he said.
For contrast, after Trump claimed he was going to be indicted two weeks ago — nine days earlier than he was, as it turned out — it took a few days for them to raise $1.5 million. Likewise, after announcing his third presidential campaign last November, it took him over six weeks to raise $9.5 million.
Anyway, fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy however long it will be.
March overloaded the airwaves with too many fantastic, simultaneously returning shows — The Mandalorian, Yellowjackets, and Succession — yet there’s always room for more. If one asks, then one shall receive, and the streaming services are here to deliver the goods. A nun will fight an almighty yet surely up-to-no-help algorithm that has seduced the minds of the masses. A mutual case of road rage will change lives yet hurt no one (at least not permanently) in real life. And Bill Hader’s hitman will bid farewell to HBO.
In other words, TV will be here for you during those rainy springtime days. Here are the must see shows for April 2023.
Beef: Season 1 (Netflix series streaming 4/6)
A24’s Beef lets all of the road rage hang out in this series, and the results won’t be pretty. Everything begins with a near collision, and then Ali Wong’s character flips the bird at Steven Yeun’s maxed-out counterpart, and then… it. is. on. The pair recently admitted (at the show’s SXSW premiere) that they were physically impacted by the stress of making this show, which is quite an endorsement in and of itself. The loads and loads of talent on display won’t hurt, either, while we watch these two get ridiculously carried away with attempting to ruin each other’s lives.
Schmigadoon!: Season 2 (Apple TV+ series streaming 4/6)
Musicals may not be your thing, but if they are, then you’ll be overjoyed to see Cabaret icon Alan Cumming back in action again. Oh, yes, and the show’s leading pair remains Keegan-Michael Key and Cecily Strong, whose characters end up missing the first-season magic and try to return to 1960s and 1970s-era Schmicago. Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jane Krakowski are all back on tap this year, and you can’t resist the joy.
Rennervations: Season 1 (Disney+ series streaming 4/12)
Jeremy Renner has been through a lot lately, to put things mildly, due to his horrific snowplow accident that will leave him rehabbing for quite some time. Before that fateful event happened, though, he shot this four-part series that reimagines how vehicles can be custom-built to serve individual communities. It’s all about giving back, and these days, the world can’t have enough of that.
Barry: Season 4 (HBO series returning 4/16)
As one of several high-profile shows coming to an end in 2023, Bill Hader’s actor-hitman leading man will soon ride into the sunset as well. Barry is now behind bars, and we can blame (or thank) Henry Winkler’s mentor character for that one. NoHo Hank may not be dancing at the moment, but fingers are crossed that things will start looking up for him during this final season of the dark comedy series.
Waco: The Aftermath: Season 1 (Showtime series premiering 4/16)
Three full decades have passed since the federal siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas. This five-part series takes a look back at the broader cultural view of the build-up and aftermath, which included Timothy McVeigh’s act of mass-murder terrorism in Oklahoma City. As well, the series includes an examination of the January 6 insurrection, so expect the response to be polarized.
Mrs. Davis: Season 1 (Peacock series streaming 4/20)
GLOW standout Betty Gilpin is teaming up with TV king Damon Lindelof in this show about a nun who fights an almighty algorithm. What’s not to enjoy about that, especially in this day and age? Gilpin plays Simone, not to be confused with the title character of the AI, and Margo Martindale co-stars. If there’s anything that Damon Lindelof has taught us in his post-Lost days, you never know precisely what to expect from his projects. Fingers crossed that we’ll somehow see a Lube Man crossover from his victorious Watchmen run.
Slip: Season 1 (Roku Channel series streaming 4/21)
Zoe Lister-Jones created and wrote this series, in which she also stars, about a bored woman who travels through parallel worlds to experience marriage to different spouses before she (ideally) resolves her current (and seemingly just alright, although not exciting) marriage in our “real” universe. And in the process, she will hopefully reconnect with herself as well.
Sweet Tooth: Season 2 (Netflix series streaming 4/27)
The savory slam-dunk returns (courtesy of Team Downey) for another dose of the more-than-Mad Max vs. Bambi vibe. Christian Convery returns as the title character, also known by his proper name of Gus. He’s sadly been separated from Jeppard (Nonso Anozie) as of the first season finale, and now, Gus must gather strength to push back against the Last Men along with his fellow hybrids. Also on tap this season: discovering why the Great Crumble happened and curing the ill. Gus has got more gumption than the entire ensemble of The Walking Dead, alright.
Love & Death: Season 1 (HBO Max series streaming 4/27)
Candy Montgomery already received a true-crime adaptation from Hulu and starring Jessica Biel and Melanie Lynskey, and now, here’s a second take starring Elizabeth Olsen (opposite Jesse Plemons) as an adulterous ax-murderer who sets her Texas community alight with homicidal scandal. David E. Kelley executive produces alongside Nicole Kidman, so you know that if they felt that this deserved another version, then it must be worth it.
The Afterparty: Season 2 (Apple TV+ series streaming 4/28)
If you wanted to add to your collection of little murder mysteries and haven’t given this series a go yet, you should probably catch up. In the first season, a high school reunion goes very bad when a pop star (Dave Franco) gets murdered, and then it’s suspect time with a host of familiar faces including Sam Richardson and Ben Schwartz. Also, Detective Tiffany Haddish at your service. Sold!
Citadel: Season 1 (Amazon Prime series streaming 4/28)
If you’ve been hankering to see more of The White Lotus‘ Leo Woodall, then you’re in luck, but he’s not the main attraction here. Rather, this series also stars Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra, and Stanley Tucci and revolves around the power vacuum left after a global spy agency collapses along with agents and operatives’ memories. They must get back to their usual selves despite the amnesia before a crime syndicate steps in to plug that void. People cannot get enough of these espionage series, and with this appealing cast, Prime Video should have a winner on its hands.
Fatal Attraction: Season 1 (Paramount+ series streaming 4/30)
You’ve surely seen the bunny-boiling original picture from 1987, and you know that Hollywood cannot resist updating everything. This version stars Lizzy Caplan as the seducer of Joshua Jackson’s married man, and this story about a so-called casual affair cannot possibly turn out well, no matter how they paint the story because stalkers have so many more tools at their disposal in the electronic age. Yikes. This will, however, apparently be a reimagining of sorts, so we’ll see what newness comes to the table and whether it justifies Caplan missing out on the Party Down revival.
With six and a half minutes left in the third quarter of Friday night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Davis went down with an injury. While holding his ankle after he failed to secure a defensive rebound, the ball bounced into the arms of Rudy Gobert, who stood at the free throw line and opted to kick it out to Mike Conley, who missed a three.
It was an 8-point Minnesota lead at the time, and in the immediate aftermath, the Lakers ripped off a 20-2 run, built themselves a lead, and ended up picking up a 123-111 that put them above-.500 for the first time this season. The moment where he opted to pass to Conley apparently stuck with Gobert, and after the game, he looked back on that as the moment where his decision to not be “too ruthless” cost his team.
Asked Rudy Gobert if the sequence that followed Anthony Davis rolling his ankle was a turning point in the game.
In fairness to Gobert, Wenyen Gabriel was standing under the rim and D’Angelo Russell was in the vicinity if he decided to try dunking, while Davis laying there was also an impediment. But at the very least, the Lakers are probably extremely happy that Gobert decided to pass in this situation, especially if it did, indeed, lead to things snowballing for the Timberwolves and letting them go on a run.
As for Davis, he ended up being ok — he stayed in the game and went for 38 points and 17 rebounds in the win.
