Jack Harlow Was Ordered To Give A Video Deposition For A Nightclub Murder Lawsuit Trial

Jack Harlow has been ordered to give a deposition about a 2021 murder in a Louisville nightclub involving his former DJ, Ronnie O’Bannon, according to Rolling Stone. O’Bannon was charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence after allegedly shooting a bartender at the Vibes Restaurant and Ultra Lounge, Kasmira Nash, during a pre-Kentucky Derby party on May 1, 2021. O’Bannon pled not guilty, claiming Nash attacked him with a champagne bottle.

O’Bannon, known professionally as Ronnie Luciano, is currently on house arrest as he awaits trial; Harlow must give a video deposition in Louisville in August. Harlow and his crew were allegedly allowed to bypass the club’s metal detectors at security check-in, allowing O’Bannon to bring in his gun. The club, Harlow, and his security have been named in three separate liability lawsuits, which the Courier Journal notes will be merged into a single case to go before a circuit court judge.

In the wake of the shooting, Harlow issued a statement saying, “My heart is broken by the events that occurred over Derby weekend. My heart breaks for Kasmira, her children, and everyone else touched by this tragic death. Nothing can reverse what happened. Too many lives have been changed forever. My life will remain committed to making Louisville a better place.”

Jack Harlow is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Donald Trump Returned To Mar-A-Lago After Getting Arrested And Listened To A Song From His Favorite Artist: Donald Trump

After getting indicted on Tuesday (only in New York, baby!), Donald Trump returned to his MAGA-Lago compound in Florida and listened to his favorite musical artist: himself.

The former president was filmed getting all patriotic while listening to “Justice for All,” the (technically) chart-topping collaboration with the J6 Prison Choir that made Trump “feel like Elvis.” You can watch it here, if you insist.

The video obtained by TMZ was “recorded not too long after DT’s diatribe from the podium — where he condemned Manhattan’s district attorney Alvin Bragg and others involved in his criminal case.” Trump can also be seen putting his hand over the heart “with the rest of the room as they blast ‘Justice for All’ over the speakers — a song released by a handful of men currently in prison for their participation in the Jan. 6 Capitol riots… now known as the J6 Choir.”

The song is basically them singing the “Star Spangled Banner” interlaced with Trump reciting the Pledge of Allegiance… which created the awkward sight of Trump standing at attention as he listens to himself.

Between Trump juicing his 2023 Spotify Wrapped numbers and the “disgusting” speech that he gave to attendees, it sounds like quite the party.

The Talking Heads At Fox News Have No Idea How To Handle Trump’s Post-Arrest Plea To ‘Defund The Police’

Fox & Friends immediately dove into Donald Trump’s arrest on Wednesday morning, but when it came time for Steve Doocy to tackle the former president’s call to “defund the police,” nobody knew what the heck to say.

While talking to a panel of voters from “across the political spectrum,” Doocy naturally heard lots of responses about how Trump’s arrest was a “joke” and questions about why Hillary Clinton hasn’t been arrested for her deleted emails, or Bill Clinton for his affairs. This is Fox News after all. However, the group was notably quiet when Doocy asked about Trump wanting to defund the FBI.

Via Mediaite:

“After he was arrested yesterday, apparently today, Donald Trump has called for America to defund the police, particularly the FBI, the Department of Justice, because the Democrats have weaponized law enforcement. All right. Who in this panel, raise your hand? Who thinks that’s a good idea?” Doocy asked.

As the camera panned out to a silent and still panel, Doocy replied, “Alright. Nobody.”

While no one on the panel backed up Trump’s defund the FBI remarks, Doocy circled back to them and offered up a defense of his own.

“What he apparently posted was Republicans in Congress should defund the DOJ and FBI until they come to their senses, he wrote,” Doocy said before agreeing with Trump. “Democrats have totally weaponized law enforcement, as I just said, in our country and our viciously using this abuse of power to interfere with our already under-siege elections.”

A guy and his friends shared their travel plans. The results perfectly explain the wealth gap.

Sometimes you see something so mind-boggling you have to take a minute to digest what just happened in your brain. Be prepared to take that moment while watching these videos.

Real estate investor and TikTok user Tom Cruz shared two videos explaining the spreadsheets he and his friends use to plan vacations and it’s…well…something. Watch the first one:

So “Broke Bobby” makes $125,000 a year. There’s that.

How about the fact that his guy has more than zero friends who budget $80,000 for a 3-day getaway? Y’all. I wouldn’t know how to spend $80,000 in three days if you paid me to. Especially if we’re talking about a trip with friends where we’re all splitting the cost. Like what does this even look like? Are they flying in private jets that burn dollar bills as fuel? Are they bathing in hot tubs full of cocaine? I genuinely don’t get it.

To be crystal clear here, the top 5 friends on the Forbes list are willing to spend more than double what the guy at the bottom of the Welfare 10 list makes per year on a 3-day guy’s trip. I don’t know what to do with this information.

But that’s not even the full spreadsheet. It might make sense if this guy was just rich, had always been rich, only knew rich people, and therefore having multiple millionnaire friends was his normal. Surely that’s some people’s reality who were born into the 1%.

That’s not the case here, though, because Cruz also has a Welfare 10 list. He says this group of friends who make less than $100K a year call themselves that, and perhaps that’s true. (If I were a part of this group, I might call myself a welfare case too because everything’s relative and some of these dudes spend more in an hour of vacation than I spend on my mortgage each month.)

It’s like we can see our society’s wealth gap all laid out nice and neatly in a spreadsheet, only these people aren’t even the uber-wealthy and uber-poor. This is just the range of this one guy’s friends.

I have nothing against people who build success and wealth for themselves, and even $5 million per year is hardly obscenely wealthy by billionaire standards. But Cruz says he’s known most of his “welfare” friends since college, which presumably means most of those guys have college degrees and are making pittance in comparison with the Forbes list. One could claim the guy making $5 million a year just works harder, but does he really work 100 times harder than the guy making $50,000? Doubt it.

Money makes money, and after a certain threshold of wealth or income, it’s actually quite easy to get and stay rich without actually “earning” more money, assuming you’re reasonably wise and responsible. So maybe the guys who are willing to shell out $125,000 for a week-long trip should offer to pay the travel expenses of the friends they “hang out with regardless of income” who don’t even make that in a year, since that’s probably just the interest they’re making on their wealth anyway.

But what do I know? This is like an entirely different world to me and probably 99+% of Americans, as evidenced by some of the responses.

Naturally, there will be a range of incomes in any group of people, but 1) most of us don’t actually know how much our friends make, and 2) even fewer of us make spreadsheets with that information in order to rank our friends and figure out who can go on which vacations.

People are just endlessly fascinating. That’s all I’ve got.

A Sister Of One Of The GloRilla Concert Stampede Victims Is Reportedly Planning To Sue

After a deadly stampede happened at GloRilla’s concert last month, one of the alleged victims is reportedly planning to sue, according to Billboard. Ronisha Huston’s attorneys have claimed that she is the sister of one of the victims, Rhondesia Belton. Huston is citing that she “suffered emotional distress and needs access to video footage, emergency plans, and other key information,” per the publication.

“Petitioner Ronisha Huston and her now-deceased sister, Rhondesia Belton, got caught up in the crowd surge,” Huston’s team shared. “Huston witnessed her sister getting crushed in the stampede.”

Right now, Huston’s team has reportedly only filed a “petition for pre-action discovery,” which would give them the chance to get information that’s relevant to a larger case and lawsuit. This would include the venue (Main Street Armory) giving “the security firms involved, video footage of the entire concert, fire exit and emergency plans, floor plans, regulatory permits, and communications with private entities involved with the concert.”

GloRilla, nor any other individuals or show-affiliated organizations, are named in the petition, per the publication.

Last month’s deadly incident happened after show attendees rushed to exit the venue after reportedly hearing gunshots. The incident resulted in three deaths and several injuries. Police eventually found no evidence of gunfire. In the wake, the city of Rochester shut down Main Street Armory by not renewing the venue’s license.

The family of another victim, Brandy Miller, had also reportedly been looking at the lawsuit route recently. Theirs would include GloRilla, her tourmate, and the event promoters.

Josh Klinghoffer Thinks Red Hot Chili Peppers Made ‘Cooler Music’ Back When He Was In The Band

Josh Klinghoffer has nothing but love for his former bandmates in Red Hot Chili Peppers; He served as the band’s guitarist from 2009 to 2019, but was let go from the band after the original guitarist John Frusciante rejoined. However, he recently admitted that he has trouble listening to some of their newer music.

In a recent interview with the Brazilian podcast 5 Notas, Klinghoffer revealed that he has listened some of their new music, but admitted he doesn’t feel it sounds as good as some of the music they worked on together.

“It’s tough [listening to their new music], only because I honestly think we were doing cooler music… I never want to sound negative about anyone doing music — but I was shocked when I heard their new record,” said Klinghoffer.

Klinghoffer continued, admitting that he’s not in close communication with the band. Some of the music they worked on never saw a proper release, but he would be open to playing it with the band, Frusciante included.

“I feel like it would be fun to play some of those songs again, or play them live — we never played them live,” he said. “We don’t talk much these days. But I’ve always maintained that I still have an enormous love for [Frusciante]. He’s one of my favorite musicians; one of my favorite writers. I’m not against the idea.”

2022’s Unlimited Love, RHCP’s first album with Frusciante back in the lineup, was the band’s first No. 1 album since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium, their final album before Frusciante left the group. Additionally, the band’s two albums with Klinghoffer, I’m With You and The Getaway, are their lowest-rated releases on Metacritic.

Blondshell’s ‘Fallon’ Performance Of ‘Salad’ Shows That Passover Doesn’t Mean You Need To Be A Push Over

Last night, Blondshell, real name Sabrina Teitelbaum, made her late-night TV debut on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Ahead of her self-titled debut album, the rocker showed that the religious holiday of Passover doesn’t mean that observers need to be a pushover.

Paying homage to Judaism in the line, “Look what you did, you’ll make a killer of a Jewish girl,” Blondshell kicks off an epic story of perseverance. In a situation where it is easy to become overwhelmed with anger, instead, the musician uses the song’s story of horrific abuse as fuel to empower those around her. The track is just one of the latest showings off the Blondshell album slated to be released this Friday (April 7).

In a statement shared with Uproxx, Blondshell opened up about the album, saying, “It’s hard to summarize what this album means to me. I was able to work through so much by writing and singing these songs. In a way, I was also able to find my voice by finally saying these things out loud.”

She added, “My biggest hope is that people can see the album for what it is, ‘there’s no happy ending’ or ‘message,’ it’s just a window into what it’s like when you’re trying to figure out who you are and what you want.”

Jeremy Renner Reveals He Wrote His ‘Last Words’ To His Family After The Snowplow Accident

Earlier this year, Jeremy Renner was involved in a harrowing accident in which he was crushed by a snow plow after helping his nephew out of a snowbank. Now that the actor is stable and recovering, he revealed more about the terrifying incident which left him lucky to be alive.

Renner sat down for a one-on-one with ABC News this week when he detailed the events of that horrific day. “If I was there, on my own, that’d [have] been a horrible way to die. And surely I would’ve. Surely,” Renner said. “But I wasn’t alone. It was my nephew. Sweet Alex. And the rest of the cavalry came.” Renner’s neighbors and family quickly called 911 after he was crushed by a Sno-Cat, which weighed over 14,000 pounds.

When Renner was finally rushed to the hospital, his injuries were so severe that he began to write a “goodbye” note to his friends and family. He explained to Diane Sawyer, “I’m writing down notes in my phone to — last words to my family,” Renner said in the clip.

Sawyer detailed the extent of Renner’s injuries: “Eight ribs broken in 14 places. Right knee, right ankle broken, left leg tibia broken, left ankle broken, right clavicle broken, right shoulder broken. Face, eye socket, jaw, mandible broken. Lung collapsed. Pierced from the rib bone, your liver — which sounds terrifying.” Sawyer added.

Since the accident in January, Renner has been making a miraculous recovery, thanks to the support (and ill-timed jokes) from his fellow Avengers, though mostly thanks to the doctors who helped him. “I chose to survive. That’s not gonna kill me, no way,” he said of the accident. “I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.” Love and Titanim sounds a bit like a potential title for another Thor movie, right?

The full interview, titled Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview — A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph, will air April 6th at 10 pm on ABC, and April 7th on Hulu.

The Espresso Martini With Parmesan (???) Is All Over The Internet — But Is It Any Good?

It’s a new day and that means that there’s a new cocktail that’s grabbed everyone’s attention online. Today’s fancy-schmancy cocktail is an umami-bomb take on a bittersweet classic. The Espresso Martini got a big upgrade on social media by adding … freshly grated parmesan cheese? Yes, that’s right sharp and salty parmesan is all the rage over a nice and frothy espresso martini.

A friend of mine posted about this — Jordan Hughes, The Highproof Preacher — and it’s been replied to with posts and even a Food & Wine write-up.

But is it really that good?

For this exercise, I was pretty on board from the jump. The mix of salt or umami as a counterbalance to the sweet and bitter notes of an espresso martini makes a certain sort of sense. Bacon on maple doughnuts comes to mind, which is kind of awesome. So this isn’t that out there. Still, is it worth making at home? I think so — it’s an easy addition to an already easy shaker. Granted, it helps if you have a good espresso machine for the coffee, but that isn’t a deal breaker (you can always get an espresso to go from your favorite coffee shop too).

Let’s get shaking and make your new favorite cocktail of the season!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. vodka
  • 1.5 oz. espresso
  • 0.5 oz. coffee liqueur
  • 0.25 oz. demerara syrup
  • Ice
  • 12-month-old parmesan cheese wedge

This is all pretty straightforward stuff. The biggest thing is getting real-deal espresso. Don’t use drip coffee or instant. You can use cold brew if you want though. The parmesan I used was from the grocery store. It’s Italian but affordable.

What You’ll Need:

  • Coupe glass (pre-chilled in the freezer)
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Cocktail strainer
  • Fine mesh strainer
  • Fine grater
  • Jigger

Method:

  • Prechill the glass in the freezer.
  • Add the demerara sugar syrup, coffee liqueur, espresso, and vodka to the shaker. Add a large handful of ice and shake very vigorously for a good 30 seconds.
  • Fetch the glass from the freezer and then double-strain the cocktail into the glass.
  • Grate a layer of parmesan cheese over the cocktail until you’ve covered the whole thing. Serve.

Bottom Line:

This is a very “okay, I get it” drink from the first sip. The sharpness of the cheese immediately counterpoints the sweetness of the cocktail. And then that’s countered by the creamy espresso bitterness below it all. It is balanced and nuanced with great depth all wrapped up in a single cocktail serving.

I’d also argue that this is 100% worth making at home. It took me all of a minute to make once the espresso was pulled. Then it was just a matter of sitting back and letting the complex flavors wash over you. Yes, ye denizens of the internet — this is a winner.

Cecily Strong On Keeping ‘Schmigadoon!’ Relatable And Her ‘SNL’ Exit

Cecily Strong is an indisputable member of the SNL all-timers club, exiting after 11 seasons with the most recent Christmas episode. It’s a move that, unsurprisingly, sparked some existential dread after being so closely associated with something for so long, but Strong is using the freshly unlocked time to pursue a number of projects, from the recent revival of a famed one-woman show to the second season of Schmigadoon!, the Apple TV+ original musical comedy fairytale co-starring Keegan Michael-Key that returns on April 5. And she’s just getting started.

Uproxx spoke with Strong about her SNL exit, her bold and hilarious Goober The Clown Weekend Update sketch in the midst of the Supreme Court’s teardown of Roe V. Wade and reproductive health protections, and whether she has a want to tackle drama like so many of her former colleagues. Of course, before that, we begin with the very relatable place we find her Schmigadoon! character as the show ventures into a world influenced by a new set of classic musicals such as Chicago and Hair and the pressures of singing and dancing while chained to Ariana DeBose and Dove Cameron.

What is it about the slightly new direction that excited you about jumping in for season two?

Well, I think my favorite part about this season is definitely the numbers. I think there are even more big, show-stopping numbers that are really fun. And then I think, just the look of this season was really exciting for me. The sets and the costumes, all of it. I really enjoyed getting to discover that every day. And then I think even just the story was a bit more layered or, there was more of an existential struggle, which I found really interesting. The first season, they find true love and it’s sort of a simplistic thing. And then they spend this season trying to find happiness and so much of it is finding confidence in yourself and being okay with your limitations and the things that make you human. Sort of loving yourself.

I think a lot of people relate to that. I know I relate to a lot of it. How much were you able to influence the direction of the character and where the character is?

Well, I think they’re both sort of heightened versions of us. And a lot of the things that we find funny ourselves we were laughing at as our characters, for sure. Like we were saying, I think the first season for me was really an escape. When we shot it was right at the beginning of the pandemic, so we all needed that joyful, colorful escape. And then I think this season we went into it and everybody sat with the stark reality, and I’ve sat with it myself personally. So it felt like it was coming, that that journey was from my own real place too.

The stark reality of where we are now post-pandemic, or in terms of where the character is at this point in their life?

Oh, well, I think Cecily would be post-pandemic, just the world that we’ve been living in. Just the realities of real life have weighed heavily on a lot of us, so I think everybody can relate to that. Everybody feels a little bit stuck and trying to find happiness in the real world and accepting those hard things.

Yeah, the notion of just redefining happiness. That’s the thing that I’ve wrestled with. “Okay, your goals aren’t here, they might have to be here, and they might have to change.”

You may have to move your goalpost or forget the idea of goalposts or something.

(Laughs) Exactly. I need to figure out how to do that. Moving them I’m getting, the forgetting to have them is…

It’s easy. Just say it, then it happens. (Laughs)

(Laughs) Okay. That or I’ll break into song, maybe that’ll work.

There you go. Yeah.

Schmigadoon
Apple TV+

Speaking about some of these numbers this season, what was the most challenging? I’m sure it’s pretty nerve-wracking to stand in next to Kristen Chenoweth when she’s belting out a number.

Well, that’s less nerve-wracking because that’s more just exciting that I get to be there for that. But it was certainly nerve-wracking to perform next to and literally physically chained to Ariana DeBose and Dove Cameron, who are just brilliant and can do this particular thing really, really well. And it was like, boy, if I take one bad step, I could drag them down with me, literally. And so that was, okay, of all the things in the show, that’s the thing I have to get right more than everything. (Laughs)

I know you did The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe one-woman show at New York’s The Shed Theater recently. How was that experience? Is that something you want to continue to push for in your career?

Well, I love theater. I’ve always loved it. It’s thrilling to have a live audience and see how each performance changes with that. Doing Search was huge, it was also the hardest puzzle. I’m a big puzzle person, it was the hardest puzzle I’ve ever taken on, to learn that show. So I think I skipped a couple steps to go from no theater run in New York, to then taking on Lily Tomlin’s and Jane Wagner’s one-woman show. But I think if the right thing came along… Musicals scare me a little more. I say that even as a lover of musicals, it feels like what they do is so daunting, to do that eight shows a week.

It’s only been a few months since you left SNL, is your brain still in that SNL space — how you think about things, sleep schedule, work schedule?

I already feel very far from it. But it’s tough. I feel spoiled having gotten to be there. Thinking about projects now, I’m like, “Ah, I really got to play everything I ever wanted to play in one place.” So that’s tough to say goodbye to. But schedule-wise, I was very, very ready to get some sleep again.

In the middle of such a long run, when do you start to think, this isn’t going to last forever, I need to start savoring things or I need to start thinking about the end?

Well, I think once it felt like there was a new voice emerging at the show. I started to feel like, if I’m just feeling like an older sister sort of, then I’m not feeling like I’m bringing enough new and bringing enough new in my own life. It would’ve been very easy to stay there because it is such a dream job and it is so much fun, but it was sort of like, I want to go feel like the new voice somewhere. Somewhere new. And I think with my people, my generation, losing them, it was kind of like, okay, if they can do it, I can do it. It felt like it was a good time. And leaving on… I love the Christmas show every year, it’s always a feel-good show, and I feel like, this is a thing that’s going to feel sad, so let me make it a little bit better by doing it on a very happy show.

When you’re facing that decision, what’s the breakdown of fear to excitement, and then now you’re on the other side of that, where do you feel right now? Is it still scary?

The fear felt like, always sort of an existential threat, or like a thing that logically, this has been my entire professional life and my identity has been this show. So there’s always like, I know that, and that’s always in the back of my head, but I have found through my own therapy and experiences, that that’s not very effective, it’s not a great place for me to live and create. And so, I’m talking to different people, I’m trying to play more in the realm of being excited and having this open time now that I get to fill it with new projects that I wouldn’t have been offered before, wouldn’t have had the chance to do because of my schedule.

So many of your colleagues have ventured into drama and heavier drama. Is that something that’s of interest to you as well?

Oh, for sure. I think just because of my background, I did a lot of dramatic shows growing up. I got my DFA in theater at Cal Arts, so I’ve always loved drama, and I love getting to do shows like Schmigadoon, getting to do Search, and really getting to flex that muscle a little bit. And I think I’m somebody that cries a lot in life anyway and I cry and laugh a lot, so they’re often pretty closely related.

Do you feel like you need to convince people that you can do that? Is that something that you feel pressure to do?

I feel less pressure. It feels more like I’ve got a secret card in my pocket. It’s like, wait til you see what I can do. Bet you don’t know this. Because a lot of people, when they think comedy, they think we all come from a standup background. But a good number of us came from theater.

I was blown away by the Goober the Clown Weekend Update piece. One of the best things I’ve ever seen on the show.

Wow, thank you so much.

Very justified. I’m sure there was a ton of anxiety going into that. How did you beat that back to get to a point where you were able to do that and be so personal?

Yeah. There was so much anxiety. I think just the frustration and fear and the hugeness of the actual situation we were in, and the fact that this was becoming a reality became bigger than my own anxiety. And it was like, I’m angry about this, I’m frustrated. It was like, I am a person that can say, this is something I’ve been through. And I think a lot of other people and shows have been great about writing abortion storylines, and it was kind of like, I have this platform, and it felt like… important is the wrong word, but important is part of it.

It felt really special to me and almost sacred to me that I got to do that. But I really didn’t know the response at the beginning. I didn’t know. From the beginning, I brought it up sheepishly like, “Well, I thought maybe, I was thinking about doing a clown who had an abortion.” And luckily, there were people around like, “Yes, do that.” And the show was very supportive. And after, just the response and the messages I got from people, it felt really good. And so, I think it’s probably the thing I’m proudest of having done over there.

‘Schmigadoon!’ season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on April 5
