Blackpink Tried To Break Even More World Records In Their ‘Carpool Karaoke’ Episode

After a vibrant performance at Coachella last weekend, Blackpink has shared their much-anticipated “Carpool Karaoke” segment. The ladies stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden for one of the show’s final episodes and sang some tunes with the show’s host.

Corden and the ladies kicked things off with “Pink Venom,” the lead single from Blackpink’s second album, Born Pink. Shortly after, they recall training on how to dance a decade prior, and challenge Corden to show off his best krumping moves.

They then take it back to one of their earlier hits, “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” dancing and grooving throughout.

The girls then explained their training routines, and recalled growing up with their goals in mind. They reminisced fondly over the music of their fellow girl group, TLC.

“They had vocals, they had raps, and they had a bit of hip-hop,” said Jennie.

Corden then asked if they wanted to sing some TLC, to which they responded with an enthusiastic, unanimous “Yes!”

Corden and Blackpink belted out “No Scrubs,” taking us back to the ’90s.

Shortly after, Corden ran down the girls’ accolades, noting that they were the most subscribed-to act on YouTube, globally, and that they were the first K-pop group with a number-one album on the Billboard 200. He then challenged them to break even more records, like the fastest time to assemble a Mr. Potato Head toy, the most handclaps in one minute, and the most Jenga blocks removed from a tower in one minute.

Netflix Is Adding A Few Handfuls Of New Mobile Games In The Coming Months

Netflix has been teasing an expanded game section for long enough that fans started doubting it would ever happen. But, as with most Netflix features, it just took them a little while to follow through with it. We all know the streamer has a bit of a commitment problem.

The streamer confirmed in its 2023 Q1 earnings call that a handful of new games are on the way. And by “handful” they mean “truckload” since there are quite a few of them. Without providing too many details, Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters announced that 40 (!) new games will be added to the service throughout the rest of the year.

Even though there are already 50+ games on Netflix’s mobile app that are included with a user’s monthly subscription fee, a whopping 99% of users had yet to try out the feature as of last summer. It’s not like there aren’t exclusives on there either: the existing library includes three Stranger Things-inspired games, an interactive thriller game (featuring the voices of James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe) and, perhaps the best title of all, Hello Kitty and Friends Happiness Parade. There is truly something for everyone, here.

While none of the new titles have been confirmed, the streamer loves to incorporate their original shows into games. Some other existing titles include a game based on Narcos, Nailed it! and, somehow, the dating reality show Too Hot To Handle. Does this mean we will get a Wednesday-inspired mobile game in the future? It’s seeming more and more likely. Now people just have to actually play them.

George Clooney Confirmed Two A-Listers Who ‘Regret’ Turning Down ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ While Also Squeezing In A Bat Nipples Joke

George Clooney and director Steven Soderbergh stopped by this year’s TCM Classic Film Festival to reminisce about the Ocean’s Eleven series, which just celebrated the 15th anniversary of Ocean’s Thirteen hitting theaters.

While regaling the audience with how the iconic first film came together, Clooney revealed the A-listers who turned down the heist movie, but not before getting in a good Batman quip after the crowd surprisingly went wild at the mention of Batman and Robin, which the actor had just noted was a low point in his career.

“I know you like that movie,” Clooney joked. “I know you like the bat nipples.”

According to Clooney, Julia Roberts was easy to lock down thanks to a charming note from the actor and her previous working relationship with Soderbergh on Erin Brockovich. But other big names didn’t hesitate to shoot down a part in the Ocean’s Eleven remake.

Via Entertainment Weekly:

That doesn’t mean it was all smooth sailing though. Clooney confirmed reports that both Mark Wahlberg and Johnny Depp were approached for Damon’s role as Linus. “Steven had just done Erin Brockovich and Traffic, and he was nominated for directing both films,” Clooney said. “So, people really wanted to work with Steven.”

“That said, some people did say no to us,” interjected Soderbergh.

“They did,” agreed Clooney. “Some very famous people told us to f— right off. Mark Wahlberg, Johnny Depp. There were others.”

“They regret it now,” Clooney noted before making it clear that he knows the feeling all too well. “I regret doing f—ing Batman.”

Liam Gallagher Thinks The AI Oasis Album Is ‘Mad As F*ck’ And Is ‘Better Than All The Other Snizzle Out There’

You’ve heard of Oasis, hopefully. Now, get ready for AISIS, a technically new band led by the indie group Breezer — but with a twist. The group replaced their lead singer’s vocals with an AI’s take on Liam Gallagher, which powers the new AISIS The Lost Tapes album. From the opening seconds, you can clearly tell it’s not them and something’s off, but others seem to enjoy it so far.

“I didn’t listen to the entire video, but from what I did hear, this feels like exactly what Oasis could and should’ve sounded like if Liam’s voice held up over the years and if the band made more of an effort to adopt modern and progressive sounds into the 2000s,” one user on Reddit commented.

As the AISIS record has gained traction online, some original Oasis fans chimed in on Gallagher’s daily tweets to ask him what he thought about his voice being used, or if he’d even heard of the occurrence at all.

“Not the album heard a tune it’s better than all the other snizzle out there,” he responded.

“Mad as f*ck I sound mega,” Gallagher added to another person’s comment.

This comes at an already wild week for AI’s effect on the music industry, as a manipulated collaboration between Drake and The Weeknd was taken down by Universal Music Group for being “a breach of our agreements and a violation of copyright law.”

To seemingly protect themselves from this, the AISIS Lost Tapes are on YouTube and listed as “an alternate reality concept album where the band’s 95-97 line-up continued to write music, or perhaps all got together years later to write a record akin to the first 3 albums, and only now has the master DAT tape from that session surfaced.” They’ve also teased that there’s another bunch coming.

For now, check out the first AI Oasis drop above.

Vladimir Putin’s Regime Criminally Charged An Elderly Woman Who Called The Ukrainian President ‘Handsome’

If recent reports that have rolled out on Vladimir Putin are any indication, he’s really on a roll. He apparently sent Saint Putin-style gifts to Russian troops in Ukraine for Easter. He’s likely been mourning the loss of his “Superman” image, and reports are that he avoids cell phones and the Internet because he’s “pathologically afraid for his life,” but I’m starting to wonder whether he’s actually pathologically afraid of not being declared the fairest of all.

The Daily Beast has relayed word that Putin’s regime decided to punish an elderly woman who countered another woman’s claim that Ukrainian President Volodymyr is “ugly.” The former woman, Olga Slegina, then called Zelensky “handsome,” and months later, she has been fined the U.S. equivalent of just under $500 because she apparently was guilty of “discrediting” Russian troops with her remarks. Say what?

“Zelensky is a handsome young man with a good sense of humor, everyone laughed at his jokes earlier,” Slegina reportedly said. She went on to ask a local resident if Ukrainians in the area were known to shout “Glory to Ukraine.”

Police showed up at Slegina’s door just a few days later and accused her of expressing support for Ukraine. After being interrogated, she signed a document police presented to her that she couldn’t even read due to cataracts, saying she didn’t understand at the time what was happening but wanted “it all to be over as soon as possible.”

As far as the “cataracts” detail is concerned, I cannot ascertain whether the woman actually had cataracts. It also seems possible that the police wanted to make it seem like she did, so that no one would believe that someone would seriously call Zelensky a good-looking dude. Maybe? None of this makes sense, and yet when it comes to Putin, it makes total sense.

Fans Think Foo Fighters’ Comeback Single ‘Rescued’ Sounds A Lot Like One Of The Band’s Most Beloved Albums

It finally happened: This morning (April 19), Foo Fighters announced But Here We Are, their first new album since the death of Taylor Hawkins. They also shared a single called “Rescued,” which fans immediately compared to one of the band’s best albums.

In a Reddit thread on the r/foofighters subreddit, one fan commented, “I get In Your Honor vibes,” referring to the band’s 2005 album In Your Honor. The album yielded singles like “Best Of You” and “DOA,” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (the band’s best-ever placement at the time), was nominated for five Grammy Awards, and is generally one of their best-received LPs.

That user was far from the only one to make that connection. Other comments include, “Reminds me of an In Your Honour B-Side. Like The Sign or something,” and, “As someone else said, this sounds pretty much like an In Your Honor song, if this album is something similar I’ll probably listen to it on repeat a lot.”

The throwback sound appears to be intentional. A press release announcing the new album and single says, “Sonically channelling the naiveté of Foo Fighters’ 1995 debut, informed by decades of maturity and depth, But Here We Are is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life.”

But Here We Are is out 6/2 via Roswell Records/RCA Records. Pre-order it here.

Elon Musk And Tucker Carlson Discussing ‘The Urge To Have Sex’ Might Be A New Low For Fox News

With his many kids, Elon Musk is single handedly trying to restore the world’s population (Nick Cannon is helping, too). It’s one of his biggest concerns, for some reason, and Tucker Carlson asked him about [shudder] “the urge to have sex” during the second part of their cursed interview on Tuesday night.

“I mean, the urge to have sex and to procreate is, after breathing and eating, the most basic urge. How has it been subverted?” the Fox News host wondered. Musk replied, “Well, it’s just, in the past we could rely upon, you know, simple limbic system rewards in order to procreate. But once you have birth control and abortions and whatnot, now you can still satisfy limbic instinct, but not procreate.” In other words, Musk believes birth control and abortions “and whatnot” could cause civilization to collapse, a dubious claim.

The Twitter CEO continued:

“So we haven’t yet evolved to deal with that because this is all fairly recent, the last 50 years or so for birth control. I’m sort of worried that hey, civilization, if we don’t make enough people to at least sustain our numbers, perhaps increase a little bit, then civilization’s going to crumble. The old question of like, will civilization end with a bang or a whimper? Well, it’s currently trying to end with a whimper in adult diapers, which is depressing as hell.”

Carlson agreed with Musk. “War is less depressing,” he said. Musk added, “Yeah, I’d rather go out with a bang.” He is so proud of himself for that one. Anyway, if you want to watch Two Cool Dudes talk about sex in a dimly-lit room, here you go.

John Fetterman Had A Grand Time With The Absurd Conspiracy Theory That He Has A Body Double

John Fetterman made a cringeworthy video to address a cringeworthy conspiracy theory.

That’s pretty much the whole story here, but let’s keep going. The Crudités-bashing lawmaker, who defeated Dr. Oz, has returned to his congressional duties after spending six weeks in the hospital for clinical depression. That malady, mind you, is absolutely no joke, but Fetterman insists that he’s feeling much better and is fit for duty. And from the looks of things, he is keeping his sense of humor about himself while addressing that ridiculous QAnon body-double conspiracy theory that’s been rolling around online.

The far-right couldn’t help themselves, of course, while seemingly dying to believe that it was even possible for this 6’8″ dude — who is, as they say, built like a brick sh*thouse “[a]nd lots of Crüe” — to even have a body double. And Fetterman could have ignored this theory, but he decided to illustrate how laughable it is by mocking it with an equally silly video where Fetterman talks to Fetterman. “Thought it was time to address the rumor: I do not have a body double,” the tattooed, former mayor of Braddock tweeted.

Also, here’s a video clip of Fetterman and his hoodie rolling up to the U.S. Capitol this week. “It’s good to be back,” he declared to reporters.

Tom DeLonge Reflected On Blink-182’s Tumultuous Journey After The Band Made Its Big Comeback At Coachella 2023

This past weekend was huge for pop-punk, as the classic Blink-182 lineup of Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker made its long-awaited return at Coachella 2023. Before and after the set, the group’s members reflected on it and how they got there.

After the performance, DeLonge shared a photo of himself on stage giving the middle finger. He wrote, “From break ups, to plane crashes, to cancer… @blink182 is f*cking back. We’ve only just begun to offend. Ya can’t cancel this sh*******tttttttt.”

In his post, DeLonge referenced a 2008 plane crash that resulted in four deaths, but Barker was one of the survivors. Barker sustained burns on about 65 percent of his body and said he nearly lost his foot. Barker avoided planes for years after that, only taking his first flight since the crash in 2021.

As for the cancer, DeLonge was referring to Hoppus, who opened up about his cancer diagnosis in 2021 and is working on a memoir about his experience.

Hoppus had a similarly spirited message before the big day, writing on Instagram, “Chemo to Coachella. Very much in my feelings today. Grateful to be here and excited to play a rock show with my friends tonight.” In a post from after their set, he added, “Super fun show. Thanks @coachella.” Also after the show, Barker offered simply, “Coachella we came [party hat emoji].”

Uproxx’s Carolyn Droke noted of the Blink performance, “Joining together on stage, it felt like no time had passed. Mark and Tom were continually cracking ‘your mom’ jokes like it was still the ’90s. To their credit, their set did feel like it transported the crowd back to their 1999 inception, playing all the early tracks like ‘The Rock Show’ and ‘What’s My Age Again.’ They closed out their set with three back-to-back greatest hits, ‘I Miss You,’ ‘All The Small Things,’ and ‘Dammit.’”

Blink-182 is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
