When Does Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’ Premiere On Paramount+?

landman-20-lg-banner
Paramount+

More Lioness, a Tulsa King season finale, and Yellowstone weren’t enough for Taylor Sheridan in November. The Paramount TV king is also premiering Landman, which Sheridan co-created with Christian Wallace. The series stars former 1883 actor Billy Bob Thornton, who was the exact guy that Sheridan was thinking of while writing the lead.

The series explores inner workings of the Texas oil fields, from the daily dirty work of roughnecks to the deals being made in both unsavory and posh surroundings. And not only is Tommy Norris’ particular position a grueling one, but his personal life gives him quite a thrashing, too. In short, it’s an oil-soaked and explosion-dotted soap opera, which should prove to be as popular as Sheridan’s other series, so logistics on how and when to watch are useful.

When Does Taylor Sheridan’s Landman Premiere?

The series will debut two episodes on Sunday, Nov. 17 only on Paramount+. Weekly single episode drops will follow for a total of 10 episodes. Eventually (as with 1923 and other Sheridan titles), the show will probably air on Paramount Network, CBS, and/or Comedy Central, but if you want to catch the show live without worrying about spoilers, then Paramount+ is the way to go. From the show’s synopsis:

Based on the 11-part podcast Boomtown, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. The new original drama is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, and presents a story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires – the people who have fueled a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.

Landman co-stars Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Michael Peña, Andy Garcia, Paulina Chávez, and Armando Medina. Hold onto your pants because some characters are about to lose theirs, both literally and metaphorically.

Are Lana Del Rey And Lizzo Beefing?

Over the past couple days, it has looked like Lana Del Rey and Lizzo have had an unexpected feud with each other, but there’s a bit of confusion involved in the situation.

Are Lana Del Rey And Lizzo Beefing?

As Complex notes, a November 13 post from the X (formerly Twitter) account Drop Pop shared supposed screenshots of Lizzo commenting on a Del Rey TikTok video, “I’d like to see you back on the charts.” Del Rey allegedly replied, “I would love to see you run on a treadmill.”

However, Drop Pop is a self-proclaimed parody account and the screenshot was fake. Still the post made the rounds. Drop Pop eventually deleted it, but not before it racked up 20 million impressions, 380K likes, and 22K reposts.

A follow-up Drop Pop post portrayed Lizzo as responding, “I hope that alligator eats your big ass,” and Del Rey replying, “you’d know about eating biggie.”

As Pop Base (not a parody account) notes, Del Rey commented on an Instagram post about the fabricated feud, writing in three comments, “I don’t think I have an official TikTok, other than the grants one sooooo,” “Or a Twitter,” and, “Very random.”

So, there you have it: Lana and Lizzo are chill, no beef.

50 Cent Is Stunned (And A Little Concerned) By Mike Tyson’s Dark Answer To A Teen’s Question About Legacy

Tonight, November 15, is the much-publicized boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Ahead of the fight, which will stream on Netflix, Iron Mike was asked by internet-famous teen reporter Jazlyn Guerra, a.k.a. Jazzy’s World TV, for his thoughts on legacy. He took it very seriously.

“Well, I don’t know. I don’t believe in the word ‘legacy,’” Tyson replied. “I just think that’s another word for ego. Legacy doesn’t mean nothing. That’s just some word everybody grabbed onto. Someone said that word, and everyone grabbed on the words, and now it’s used every five seconds. It means absolutely nothing to me. I’m just passing through. I’mma die, and it’s gonna be over. Who cares about legacy after that?”

Tyson somehow wasn’t done. “What a big ego,” he continued. “So I’mma die. I want people to think that I’m this, I’m great. I’m, no. We’re nothing. We’re just dead. We’re dust. We’re absolutely nothing. Our legacy is nothing.”

Guerra responded to Tyson’s stream-of-consciousness existentialism with a polite “thank you so much for sharing that,” but 50 Cent had another takeaway. “G*ddam it! Mike ya scaring the kids, WTF chill,” the rapper wrote on X. “Note to self, keep the kids away from Mike.”

You can watch the video here.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson streams on Netflix beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Shaboozey Is Looking For Some ‘Good News’ In A New Song From The ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ Singer

It’s all “good news” for Shaboozey lately.

The singer’s Grammy-nominated single, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” remains at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and is only three weeks away from breaking Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ record for the most weeks spent at No. 1 in the chart’s history. Shaboozey also just dropped his first new single since the release of his breakthrough album, Where I’ve Been Isn’t Where I’m Going.

“Good News” has Shaboozey pining for better days. Accompanied by a somber acoustic guitar and pedal steel guitar, he sings, “I need some good news / Sittin’ here, sippin’ on cold truth / Nobody knows what I’m goin’ through / Bet the devil wouldn’t walk in my shoes.”

Shaboozey was recently asked by Billboard about how he feels receiving Grammy nominations across multiple genres, including country and rap. “It’s bittersweet for sure,” he said. “There’s a tremendous amount of talent in the country space and there are so many well-written songs that I felt also deserved that look. Country music is not yearning for talent. The beautiful thing about country music — especially some of the people who have been doing it for such a long time – is that so many people could have been out in that category.”

Indiecast Talk About The End Of Pitchfork Fest And The Rise Of Mk.gee

pitchfork logo
Pitchfork/Derrick Rossignol

This week, the guys recorded Indiecast a few days early, so they apologize in advance for missing any potential indie news. Steven was off to NYC for the film festival premiere of Yacht Rock: A Dockumentary — which he worked on as story producer — ahead of streaming on HBO/Max on November 29. After a brief conversation about yacht rock, the guys talk about the exodus on social media to Bluesky and how the new-ish app feels like a Christian rock alternative to Twitter.

Then they hash out an unfortunate trend: The end of Pitchfork Fest. They share memories of the festival and discuss how it was like a convention for music writers. From there, they review the recent Grammy nominations, some truly weird picks for Best New Artist, and some surprisingly good picks for Best Alternative Album. Finally, they discuss the meteoric rise of the indie-adjacent singer-songwriter Mk.gee and whether it annoys Alex G.

In Recommendation Corner, Ian talks about the Chicago emo band Bottom Bracket and Steven recommends the LA post-punk quartet Bondo.

New episodes of Indiecast drop every Friday. Listen to Episode 215 here and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. You can submit questions for Steve and Ian at [email protected], and make sure to follow us on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) for all the latest news. We also recently launched a visualizer for our favorite Indiecast moments. Check those out here.

Denzel Curry Makes It Rain At The Strip Club In His Debauched ‘Got Me Geeked’ Video

Denzel Curry’s new album King Of The Mischievous South is out now, along with a new music video for “Got Me Geeked.” The clip captures a debauched night at the strip club, where Denzel makes it rain, customers find themselves lost in the sauce, and of course, a fight breaks out over a spilled drink. It’s all in a night’s work for the dedicated dancers, though, who keep twerking through it all, spinning on the pole, and collecting bills from the stage.

King Of The Mischievous South is the album version of the mixtape Denzel released earlier this year, King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2 (yes, it’s a little confusing, but Zel does what he wants), adding a handful of additional songs with features from alt-rap rising stars like Bktherula and Lazer Dim, as well as Dirty South mainstays like Duke Deuce and Sauce Walka. The project pays homage to the region’s musical lineage and legacy, from Memphis crunk and trap to Houston screw and Florida bounce, all filtered through Denzel’s unique, internet-influenced lens. It also still features fan favorite singles like “Hot One” with Ferg and TiaCorine, “Hoodlumz” with ASAP Rocky and PlayThatBoiZay, and “Set It” with Maxo Kream. You can catch Denzel live this weekend at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in LA.

Lil Nas X’s Riotous ‘Light Again’ Video Recalls Flip Phone-Era Rave Culture

In the chaotic video for Lil Nas X‘s new single, “Light Again,” a normal teenage garage party gets really, really out of hand. The video evokes the aesthetics and rave culture of the early 2000s, starting off with a flip phone invitation to a house party that quickly expands to a warehouse, then spills out into the streets, ultimately becoming a riot-level, citywide event.

The song itself invokes both Nas’ newest musical direction and some nostalgic vibes of classic hip-house — something that’s sure to irk Lil Nas critic Azealia Banks, although he’s already demonstrated that he has the perfect comebacks for the spiteful siren.

Nas previously shared a teaser of “Light Again” with a message to fans suggesting that his Dreamboy era will likely focus more on making him and his listeners happy than his prior focus on trolling the mainstream establishment.

Earlier this week, he shared the trailer for Dreamboy, which also promised to remind folks where he came from and get back to making music that uplifts his identity rather than trying to nail down the ever-elusive follow-up hit to No. 1s like “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “Industry Baby.”

Dasha Recounts Her Fling With A ‘Heartbreaker From Tennessee’ On Her Latest Pop-Country Anthem

As country continues to crossover into pop culture’s upper echelons, California songwriter Dasha has emerged as a name to watch thanks to breakout songs like “Austin,” “Shiny Things,” and “Didn’t I.” As she completes her Dashville, USA tour this week, she also drops off her next potential hit: “Heartbreaker From Tennessee.” It’s considered the closing chapter of the story that she told via her debut album What Happens Now?, recounting her devastating fling with the titular Lothario.

In a message to fans on social media, Dasha wrote:

Hi guys! I get butterflies just thinking about this past year. It went by so quick, I feel like I blinked and then it was over. It still doesn’t even feel real. I’ve been dreaming about this shit since I was a little kid, and it truly blows my mind that this is my life now. I’ve felt my highest highs ever that then got matched with my lowest, darkest times during all the madness. It’s crazy to have your wildest dreams coming true while getting so much hate and judgment spit at you from people you’ve never met. I won’t lie, the non-stop work schedule, running on fumes and caffeine, while still expected to be on was hard. It is hard. I got the darkest mentally I’ve ever been but stepping on stage and seeing all of your beautiful faces across the world this past summer and fall and hearing you scream the words to my songs recharged every battery in me. You make it so worth it, all the tears and anxiety, all-nighters, every hard conversation that this damn song has brought me and my team in the past year…so worth it. You made it so worth it. My fans, my followers, my friends, I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am that you’re here on this journey with me. Still pinching myself that this is my life. To my fans: enjoy this small token of appreciation and know how much I love you. Y’all have been asking about this one – ‘Heartbreaker from Tennessee’ is yours tonight, at midnight EST

The Kid Laroi And Quavo ‘Slow It Down’ On Their Hedonistic New Single

Back in August, The Kid Laroi returned with the cocky single “Baby I’m Back,” following it up in October with “Aperol Spritz.” His latest single is the hedonistic “Slow It Down,” on which he put the request to pump the brakes to a paramour who has been going a little too hard of late. Built over an interpolation of Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Women, Part 1,” and featuring a pull from the hook of Juvenile’s 2003 hit “Slow Motion,” “Slow It Down” features a typically boastful verse from Quavo.

After Laroi notes that his newfound lover “moving too fast” in the wake of a few fly outs (hey, that’s just what happens when you go around love bombing these ladies, kid), Quavo backs him up but also maybe makes things worse after listing all the ways he can make her life more exciting. “Slow motion better than no motion,” he raps. “Shoppin’, drop a bag, I got the store closin’.” This leads to Laroi once again complaining, then explaining, “You’re moving too fast / I’m tryna make it last.”

It certainly seems like a new album from The Kid Laroi is on the way, but first, he’s one of the many artists set to appear on iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball Tour for 2024.

You can listen to The Kid Laroi’s new single “Slow It Down” featuring Quavo above.
