The ups and downs of Noel and Liam Gallagher’s relationship have been… interesting to say the least. After the two Oasis brothers maintained a very public feud, each going to pursue their own solo musical careers, they’ve recently both hinted at the possibility of a reunion.
“You should never say never,” Noel told BBC Radio Manchester, as NME notes. “It would have to take an extraordinary set of circumstances. That’s not to say that those circumstances would never come about.”
Liam has equally seemed up for the opportunity. “Why not f*ck all else going on this year,” he told a fan on Twitter today (January 18).
However, Liam has also had some choice words about his brother, even just this morning. “I do actually it’s the best 1 he’s done for long time his voice is still weak as piss though,” he answered after someone asked whether he liked Noel’s new song.
I do actually it’s the best 1 he’s done for long time his voice is still weak as piss though
Noel first officially quit Oasis in 2009, citing Liam as the primary reason why. His tone has slightly shifted from last October when he claimed that there was “no point” to a reunion. In contrast, Liam said he would reunite Oasis for free — while Noel wanted 100 million Euros.
“We should never have split up, but we did, and this is where we’re at,” Liam told The Times.
Here’s hoping some good news is on the horizon for fans of both these two.
The internet is still abuzz over revelations around Shakira and Gerard Piqué‘s split. When did it all go wrong? What happened over the past 12 years? Who ate Shakira’s jam? While we can’t pinpoint exactly what let to the dissolution of their relationship, we have put together a nifty little timeline to catch you up to speed on where it all began, and what the latest news is.
June 2010 – Shakira and Gerard Piqué meet as she’s shooting the video for her FIFA World Cup anthem, “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)”
In an interview with TV3, Piqué opened up about meeting Shakira for the first time as she was filming the video for Waka Waka in South Africa. At the time, Piqué was representing Spain in the games. He kept in contact with Shakira during the cup, and made plans to meet up again upon her return.
“It all started when we were together in South Africa and I wrote to her. She was already there because she sang in the opening ceremony, and I asked her what the weather was like. It is the typical stupid question … it got to the point where I told her we would have to get to the World Cup final to see her again–she was singing at the final.”
May 2011 – Piqué joins Shakira on stage during a performance in Spain
Many fans took the soccer star joining Shakira during her performance as a confirmation of their relationship.
November 2012 – Shakira reveals she is pregnant with her first child
The pop icon shared an image of her showing off her baby bump, nestled with Piqué. “Podría estar 9 meses más así! I could have another 9 months like this!,” read the post’s caption.
January 2013 – Shakira and Piqué welcome their first son
Shakira shared an image of their first son, Milan Piqué Mebarak, to Instagram a month after his birth. In the first photo, Shakira and Milan are watching Piqué play soccer.
January 2014 – Shakira and Rihanna release “Can’t Remember To Forget You,” and seemingly hints at Piqué’s jealousy
In the steamy video for their collaboration, “Can’t Remember To Forget You,” Shakira and Rihanna are seen embracing each other. She said in an interview with Billboard that month that this was because Piqué forbade her for shooting videos with men
“He’s very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women,” she said.
June 2014 – Shakira reveals that she and Piqué don’t plan to get married, but if she were to marry, he would be the one
In an interview with Glamour, Shakira said she didn’t have plans to marry Piqué, as they were happy in their home, with their son.
“We already have what’s essential, you know? We have a union, a love for each other, and a baby,” she said. “I think that those aspects of our relationship are already established, and marriage is not going to change them. But if I’m ever going to get married, he’s the one.”
January 2015 – Shakira and Pique reveal that they’re expecting their second child
She announced the news via Instagram, and shared his name, Sasha Piqué Mebarak
August 2017 – Shakira opens up about motherhood and says it’s the “hardest job” she’s ever had
She spoke to Hola! Magazine, saying, “I never thought it’d be so difficult, because it takes a lot of your energy. I think of my family a lot; I’m concerned about them all day. It’s physical, emotional, and intellectual wear and tear. Thinking of making an album seemed like a Herculean task, like climbing Mount Everest.”
January 2020 – Shakira doubled down on her choice not to marry Piqué
In an interview with 60 Minutes, Shakira revealed that she doesn’t want to get married, as she doesn’t want things to get stale within the dynamic.”To tell you the truth, marriage scares the shit out of me. I don’t want him to see me as the wife. I’d rather him see me as his girlfriend,” she teased. “His lover, his girlfriend. It’s like a little forbidden fruit, you know? I wanna keep him on his toes. I want him to think that anything’s possible depending on behavior.”
June 2022 – Shakira and Piqué announce their split
The news was confirmed via a joint statement from Shakira’s PR team. “We regret to confirm that we are separating,” they said. “For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”
September 2022 – Shakira opened up about the split
In an interview with Elle, Shakira discussed how she’s been handling the split. She revealed that it felt like the “darkest hour” of her life.
“I try to conceal the situation from [our kids] as much as I can,” Shakira said. “It’s really upsetting for two kids who are trying to process their parents’ separation. And sometimes I just feel like this is all a bad dream and that I’m going to wake up at some point. But no, it’s real. And what’s also real is the disappointment to see something as sacred and as special as I thought was the relationship I had with my kids’ father and see that turned into something vulgarized and cheapened by the media. And all of this while my dad has been in the ICU and I’ve been fighting on different fronts.”
October 2022 – Shakira releases “Monotonía,” a heartbreaking ballad thought to be about Piqué
On the collaboration with Ozuna, Shakira sings in Spanish, “It wasn’t your fault, it wasn’t my fault / It was monotony’s fault / I never said anything but it hurt / I knew this would happen.” The video sees her being shot in the heart by a former lover and later carrying her heart throughout the street.

January 2023 – Shakira releases “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” which contains rigid details about their split
On the song, Shakira sings, “This is for you to be mortified, to chew and swallow, swallow and chew / I won’t get back with you, not if you cry, not even if you beg me / It’s clear that it’s not my fault if they criticize you.” She also alludes to the fact that now she is stuck living next door to Piqué’s mother.
Cardi B is a busy person, as you can probably imagine. In addition to working on her second studio album, the workaholic mother of two has also been filming commercials for the Super Bowl, dealing with court cases, and running a few businesses. Unfortunately, all that apparently left little time for her to complete the community service required of her September plea deal in the 2018 strip club assault case against her.
This presumably is why Cardi found herself in court in New York City yesterday receiving a two-month extension on her 15 days of community service. Tuesday (January 17) was her original deadline but according to People, she hadn’t gotten around to completing any of the requirements while running around making surprise appearances at shows for Bad Bunny, GloRilla, and Lizzo, to say nothing of mourning the death of the late Takeoff, who was her husband Offset’s literal family.
In a statement, Cardi’s attorney said, “Personally and professionally, Cardi is dedicated to community service and charitable endeavors. She therefore appreciates the court giving her until March 1 to complete her community service commitment in Queens, New York.”
Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
The Wrap reports that although “half of the 10 most in-demand shows [on Disney+] are geared toward children,” The Simpsons is “consistently popular” with subscribers both young, old, and 30-something and childless. I’m a guy like 30-something and childless! The longest-running scripted series in U.S. primetime history “had the highest demand last month (52.75 times the average series demand) and has been one of the most popular shows on Disney+ since it first launched.” In second place: The Mandalorian (39.38 times), followed by The Owl House, Andor, and Gravity Falls:
The Mandalorian is also regularly among the most in-demand shows on Disney+. Strategically, it serves as an anchor for the ever-expanding Star Wars franchise. Last month, Andor was the fourth most in-demand show on the platform and last month Tales of the Jedi made the top 10 cut, but as spinoffs come and go, The Mandalorian has a steadily high level of demand.
The Mandalorian being #2 is impressive considering there hasn’t been a new episode since 2020 (The Book of Boba Fett doesn’t count). It’s also interesting that there’s no Marvel shows in the top-10. Unlike basically every Simpsons episode from season 1 to season 13, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is not endlessly rewatchable.
After gaining a cult-like status thanks to his brief tenure crafting the DC Extended Universe, Zack Snyder is getting ready to drop his first attempt at a massive sci-fi epic with Rebel Moon. The director continues to share a warm relationship with Netflix, which is footing the bill for the intergalactic tale that stems from Snyder’s dream of directing a Star Wars movie. In true George Lucas-style, he realized that he doesn’t need permission to make his own sci-fi adventure and quickly went to work crafting his own space-faring tale.
Here’s what we know so far about Rebel Moon:
Release Date
Rebel Moon will hit Netflix on December 22, 2023. Giving the film a prime holiday release is a definite sign of confidence from Netflix, which also saved Rian Johnson’s smash shit, Glass Onion, for the 2022 holiday season.
Cast
As always, Zack Snyder knows how to stack a film with a talent. Anchoring the film is Sofia Boutella, who will play a young woman attempting to gather allies to stop the forces of Ed Skrein‘s Regent Balisarius. Charlie Hunnam and Ray Fisher are also along for the ride in unknown roles. (Although, we do know that Hunnam will be dishing out lots of action as he reportedly “destroyed his back” prepping for Rebel Moon.) Djimon Hounsou, Jena Malone, Corey Stoll, Ed Skrein, Anthony Hopkins, and Cary Elwes round out the rest of the cast.
Plot
Here’s how Snyder described the plot in a July 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and since then, he’s kept the details of his sci-epic tightly under wraps:
The story is set in motion when a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate, the colonists dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.
However, what we do know is that the film originated from Snyder’s interactions with Lucasfilm that almost led to him directing a Star Wars movie. Instead, he set out to make his own original story.
“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” Snyder told THR. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”
Trailer
There is no official trailer for Rebel Moon as of this writing, but Netflix revealed the first footage from the film in the 2023 sizzle reel below:
Soccer Mommy is one of the most promising indie acts out now. The Nashville singer, real name Sophie Allison, blends soft rock and pop music elements to create irresistible tracks. Unfortunately, shortly after releasing her breakout sophomore album, Color Theory, in February 2020, a global pandemic shut the world down. However, the guitarist refused to let that slow down her momentum. Instead, the vocalist found a way to make it work while on lockdown, starting with an at-home NPR Tiny Desk performance the following month.
Now, nearly three since that self-produced session, Sophie has finally made her in-person debut at NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series. The rocker stopped by to play songs from that album as well as her latest album, Sometimes, Forever, including “Shotgun,” “Circle The Drain,” “Newdemo,” and “Still Clean.”
Joined by guitarist Julian Powell, keyboardist Rodrigo Avendano, bassist Nickolas Widener, and drum machiner Rollum Haas, Soccer Mommy delivers the performance fans have been patiently waiting for.
After the opening track, Sophie takes the time to address the crowd and recall back to her first appearance, “Thanks, y’all. Thank you for coming. I know those who will be watching this video can’t see that there are people here, but there are,” excitedly adding, “We’re finally doin’ it. ”
“[The band] was actually talking about it earlier. We were the first, or I guess it was just me, the first in-home tiny desk and the first [appearance] to be canceled as well,” said Sophie, “I think that was the first session-type thing I did as well. I did it on my iPhone because I didn’t have any of the gadgets people acquired over the pandemic for home videoing, but it was awesome. I’m happy to finally be home doing this.”
There shall be no Scooby Doo in HBO Max’s Velma, the Velma Dinkley origin series created by Mindy Kaling. The show is following in the footsteps of review-bombed shows like Amazon’s The Boys (because people were mad about the weekly release schedule) and Netflix’s Masters Of The Universe: Revelation (because people couldn’t stand it when Kevin Smith dared to sideline He-Man). Both shows went on to further streaming success, and no one can fully predict whether that’s in the cards for Velma, but rumor has it that the show will score a Season 2.
Let’s back up a moment. Velma follows on the heels of the 2022 HBO Max film (Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!) that canonized Velma as lesbian. Kaling has clarified that Velma and Daphne do kiss in this show, and admittedly, the episodes that have aired so far are, well, frenetic. That doesn’t seem to be what the hate is about, though. Angry peeps aren’t thrilled about the characters’ personalities being rewritten (including Velma being edgier and of South Asian descent). Also, the absence of Scoob is being held out as a downside and a blessing in disguise.
The complaints (see below) are rather vicious, as are the numbers. Over at Rotten Tomatoes, the aggregate critical score (57%) isn’t great, but the audience score is sitting at 6% with nearly 6,000 non-fans adding hate-watch voices:
– This tv show is disgustung . How dare they used the scoobydoo cartoon ,one of the best cartoons of all the times amd manged to create something so horrenduos ..? Horrible,i dont have words to describe this disgraceful show
– The substances that the writers were on when they decided to make the characters unlikable a-holes are certainly not in the periodic table
– A dishonest, hateful show — that does a complete and utter disservice to the source material. Avoid to maintain any integrity you might have.
– A hateful self-insert that assassinates characters who have brought laughter to folks for decades. What were they thinking? I guess the silver lining is that they didn’t screw up Scoob while they (Mindy K) were at it.
News of season two came to light this week when the Entertainment Identifier Registry (EIDR) updated its entries. The catalog now lists Velma season two as in the works under HBO Max and Warner Bros. The entry goes on to suggest season two will consist of 11 episodes, but other than that, few details are known about the project.
Velma premiered on January 12 with episodes planned through February 9. We’ll see if that second season materializes, and people will surely have something to say about the result.
Everyone knows about Aubrey Plaza’s signature dark humor that is so out there that you honestly can’t tell if she is kidding or not. But there is an alternate timeline where Plaza became a Saturday Night Live cast member in the early 2000s, which would have been interesting, to say the least. It’s hard to imagine Plaza standing on the stage and hugging Seth Meyers after another week of absurd impressions, and maybe somewhere out there, that timeline exists.
But Plaza did get her start there, though it was as an intern in the design department. Plaza recently told Jimmy Fallon about her experience on the infamous late-night show. “They loved me because I did not care about set design at all,” the actress told Fallon on The Tonight Show. “They wanted an intern that had no interest in learning what they did because they were moody bastards,” Plaza joked, adding that she was there in 2004 right after Fallon exited the show. “I replaced you, Jimmy.”
When it came to being a cast member, Plaza has less success. The actress admitted that she did audition for the show, but it fell flat. “I didn’t make it to the big, Lorne [Michaels] audition, the famous final audition, but I did a preliminary first-round showcase at UCB,” Plaza revealed.
“I did some characters. I remember one character I did was kind of like a Puerto Rican news reporter that was always trying to make all of the news stories like sexy, even if they were horrific news stories. I was just trying to like sex up the news or something.” Perhaps her character clashed too much with Bill Hader’s frustrated newscaster bit.
Plaza also had another character, in which she would assign different celebrities types of tails. “I was a pill-popping housewife that had my own talk show, called ‘Celebri-tails,’ where I would just name celebrities and name what kind of tail they would have if they were –if they had a tail. Like, I would say, like, ‘ Lindsay Lohan would have a bushy squirrel’s tail.’ Or, like, ‘ Bill Clinton would have, like, a polar bear’s nub.’ Or ‘Oprah Winfrey would have a dragon’s (tail)’” she laughed, adding. “I mean, I didn’t get on the show.”
She didn’t get on the show at the time, but Plaza is set to host this weekend with musical guest Sam Smith. “Now I’m gonna host it. So my master plan worked!” Check out the clip above, and see Plaza host SNL this weekend.
Dolly Parton previously revealed that her next album, Rock Star, will include covers of Led Zeppelin, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more legendary acts. Now, the country star has also shared some of the names that are joining her on the record.
During a recent appearance on The View, Parton shared that Pink and Brandi Carlile will be helping her tackle The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” — and there’s even more superstar surprises in store.
“But we got great artists like Paul McCartney is singing with me, and we got Stevie Nicks — we just finished our song last night — we got John Fogerty, and we’ve got Steve Perry and Steven Tyler,” Parton said. “I’m even gonna have Cher on. I’ve been getting a song for her, we’ve been trying to get the right thing together, but that’s gonna be a big thrill I think.”
“I’m having a lot of the rock stars that I met that night be on the album with me,” she continued. “I’m doing my best to get [Mick Jagger] on, but I did his song anyway.”
This Friday, Parton is also appearing on a Diane Warren-written new song, “Gonna Be You,” alongside Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, and more.
In a recent Absolute Radio interview, Gallagher explained, “Every Thursday you can catch me in the West End – not on stage, usually in the Firehouse, talking nonsense to somebody, anyone who will listen. […] Somebody asked me in the Firehouse the other night, ‘What do you do?’ And I was like… I didn’t know what to say. Well, I didn’t know what to say because I’d never been asked before, ‘What do you do?’ I was like, ‘Really?’”
He then framed his face with his hands and sang a snippet of Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back In Anger.”
Gallagher continued, “[The girl said], ‘So what is it you do,’ and I was like, ‘I change people’s lives for the better.’ She was like, ‘Oh, what: you’re in the medical profession?’ I was like, ‘Of sorts.’ […] I was gobsmacked. I was like, ‘Look, Google it, love. Just put in ‘Noel Gallagher,’ ‘High Flying Birds,’ ‘Oasis.’ Put in ‘Liam Gallagher,’ you’ll probably see a picture of me.”
Watch Gallagher tell the story in the video above.
