Aminé has accomplished a lot over the past few years, and he takes a sun-soaked victory lap in the vibrant video for his newest song, “LA.” It’s the Portland native’s first single since the release of his third studio album, 13 Months Of Sunshine, and is a lighthearted review of his love for his adopted home.
In the colorful video, Aminé takes a tour of his favorite Los Angeles locales, including Canter’s on Fairfax, the view of Downtown from Hollywood, the Kia Forum, and the beach near Santa Monica Pier. He cruises through it all in a shimmering emerald Jeep, getting stuck in — and later flying over — the city’s inevitable freeway traffic.
“She got a Hollywood smile / She wanna text me when I’m in town / She at Escuela with a shot in her mouth / I’m on Sunset whippin about,” he raps, before teasing yet another entry in his infamous “Point Five” mixtape series. “You a rookie, I’m a vet / THREEPOINTFIVE on the way, I guess.”
Aminé is just a few weeks from the return of his Best Day Ever music festival, which will include performances from Smino, Thundercat, Zack Fox, and more. The festival will be the official launch for Aminé’s upcoming Tour De Dance promoting 13 Months Of Sunshine.
David Byrne has a new solo album, Who Is The Sky?, out in just a few days. Before it drops, though, he has unveiled what will presumably be the final pre-album single: “What Is The Reason For It,” a collaboration with Paramore leader Hayley Williams.
When we were finishing up the record, the producer Kid Harpoon and I were wondering, ‘Oh, maybe this song, it’s a love song, or at least it’s asking what is love, what it’s about? Why do we do this? Why do other people do it? Do we know anything about it?’ […] And I knew that she was in town, so I just texted her and said, ‘Do you want to come by and sing on this?’ And she said yes. And she killed it.”
Listen to “What Is The Reason For It?” above. Below, find the Who Is The Sky? cover art and tracklist, along with Byrne’s upcoming tour dates.

Who Is The Sky? is out 9/5 via Matador. Find more information here.
In just a few weeks, Cardi B will finally release her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, nearly six years after the release of her debut, Invasion Of Privacy. And while she’s shared a handful of details about the album — it’ll consist of 21 new songs, in addition to previously released hits like “Up” and “WAP” — she hasn’t yet announced a tour supporting the project, although she teased one earlier this year.
It would actually be her first tour ever, surprisingly enough. In a new Billboard cover story, Cardi explained why she’s never gone on tour, despite making the most money from live performances. “A lot of people say I got comfortable because I make money, but the most money I make is when I go and do shows,” she said. “I could rush and put out music like it’s nothing and then pick up millions of dollars per show, but it’s not about that. I want the music to be great. I want it to be amazing.”
When Billboard‘s Carl Lamarre asked her to elaborate on her touring plans, she said, “I think my personal tour is not going to be like any other performances that I’ve ever had. From the aesthetics to the look to even the way I perform, I’m going to be doing things that I don’t normally do, like work out, because I want to be the best. I’ve been going to so many different tours. I went to the Madonna show and the Beyoncé show. I can’t perform like Beyoncé, but you can’t half-ass nothing.”
She also joked about the preparation she’d go through, saying, “I always say this: I have two left feet, but I’m going to have to get a fake leg. A right one because I’m going to give it my all. This is going to be one of the greatest tours. I’m going to make it the best.”
Am I The Drama? is due on 9/19 via Atlantic Records. You can find more info here.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Radiohead. The Smile have been very busy, but not Radiohead. Their latest album is 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool and their most recent concerts came in support of that project in 2018.
Now, we know for sure: Radiohead is reuniting for a run of concerts later this year, from November to December in the UK and European cities of Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen, and Berlin.
Philip Selway says in a statement:
“Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it. After a seven year pause, it felt really good to play the songs again and reconnect with a musical identity that has become lodged deep inside all five of us. It also made us want to play some shows together, so we hope you can make it to one of the upcoming dates. For now, it will just be these ones but who knows where this will all lead.”
Tickets will be on accessible by registering on the band’s website, in order “to help get tickets directly to fans and to minimize interception from touts and bots.” Registration opens on September 5 at 10 a.m. BST/11 a.m. CEST and closes on September 7. The tickets then go on sale on September 12.
Parker, the main character in a bunch of novels by Richard Stark (a pen name of Donald E. Westlake), is well-represented in Hollywood. He’s been portrayed by Mel Gibson in Payback, Jason Statham in Parker, and now, Mark Wahlberg in the upcoming Play Dirty.
Director Shane Black is in the driver’s seat here and he’s pumped to get back to a “gut-punch, old-school kind of storytelling,” as he explained to Esquire. That means no “descending in black, [hanging] upside down, wearing laser goggles, and looking through matrices of green light.”
Ahead of the movie’s release, keep reading for everything you need to know before it lands on streaming.
Plot
The official logline reads, “An expert thief rolls out the biggest heist of his life in Play Dirty, an action-packed thriller from director Shane Black. Parker (Mark Wahlberg), along with Grofield (LaKeith Stanfield), Zen (Rosa Salazar) and a skilled crew, stumble onto a score that pits them against the New York mob in this gritty, clever caper.”
“For me, it’s like The Italian Job meets Heat. It’s got the action, it’s got the high stakes, it’s got the humor, it’s got these great characters, the best Shane Black dialogue. I waited a long time to get a script like that. Any time we talked about, ‘Okay, what’s the kind of movie you wanna do as an actor if we’re talking a big, giant commercial movie?’ And Lethal Weapon is always right there, and some of the other films that Shane has written, so I couldn’t have been more happy. Hopefully he was as happy as I was with the experience.”
Cast
The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, LaKeith Stanfield, Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Chukwudi Iwuji, Nat Wolff, Thomas Jane, Saskia Archer, and Tony Shalhoub.
Archer told Spotlight Report of working on the movie, “The greatest takeaway from working on this production was trusting my instincts. As actors, it’s easy to get swept up in all the opinions out there, but I found falling back on my instincts was exactly what I needed to do. In terms of working with the big industry names, they were delightful. When it comes to filmmaking, it’s a satisfying experience when everyone is there working towards the common goal. That’s exactly what it felt like on Play Dirty to create a great film.”
Release Date
The film is set to debut on Amazon’s Prime Video on October 1.
Dua Lipa has been on her Radical Optimism Tour for a minute now, but until recently, all of the dates have been overseas. That changed this past weekend, though, when Lipa brought the tour to North America for the first time with a run of Toronto concerts.
The setlist for the first night (via setlist.fm) naturally pulled from her two most recent albums, Future Nostalgia and Radical Optimism. She packed a lot of big show-stoppers into her encore: “New Rules,” “Dance The Night,” “Don’t Start Now,” and “Houdini.”
She also has a handful of tour pop-up stores opening across the US over the next month-plus, so learn more about those here.

Welcome to SNX DLX, your weekly round-up of the best sneakers to hit the internet. Well, here we are — the last full month of summer is officially over, the back-to-school sales have begun, and before we know it, we’ll be in the final stretch of 2025’s sneaker season. If you’ve been following this weekly series all year, you’re well aware that 2025 hasn’t been our favorite year due to the lack of drops compared to the last five years.
But we normally narrow our best sneakers end-of-year lists to just 20 entries, so when comparing this year to others, the lack of sneaker drops this year isn’t going to be as apparent. Are we going to care that 2025 wasn’t as eventful as other years when we’re in 2026? Probably not, but we’re still hoping the end of the year will bring some surprises to the table.
We aren’t happy we’re closing the book on August with just seven notable drops, but what is here is capable of being anybody’s favorite release of the summer! Let’s dive into the best sneakers out right now.
We’re still in the doldrums of summer, but we’re starting to get a little hint of the fall season. Case in point, this latest from New Balance, which combines dark forest green tones for an earthy take on the 992. The sneaker features a pig suede and mesh upper with synthetic overlays, reflective accents, and a combination ENCAP and C-Cap midsole.
A great colorway and premium Made in USA construction? Sign us up and bring in the fall season!
The New Balance Made in USA 992 Dark Camo is out now for a retail price of $199.99. Pick up a pair at New Balance.
Made in collaboration with the LA-based street and skatewear brand, Brain Dead, this sneaker features a leather and textile upper with a faux furry-suede flame graphic at the forefoot, distressed laces, graphic insoles, and co-branding. Our favorite detail of the shoe is the way subtle hints of forest green outline the brown and yellow colorway.
The Brain Dead x Adidas Japan Lo Shadow Brown is out now for a retail price of $140. Pick up a pair at Adidas.
Nike has teamed up with the Tokyo-based streetwear brand, Cav Empt, for an outdoorsy take on the new Air Max Dn8. What we love about this collaboration is that the Dn8 is by all accounts, a very futuristic looking shoe, but Cav Empt has brought the design down to Earth by dipping it in a gorp-core aesthetic that reinterprets the design as a utilitarian sneaker.
The sneaker sports a digital camo print with a chilly arctic sheen, embroidered tongue branding, and a bright green and black co-branding on the tongue.
The Cav Empt x Nike Air Max Dn8 Pure Platinum is out now for a retail price of $210. Pick up a pair at Nike.
Kevin Durant’s latest from Nike is here! The KD 18 Soft Pearl and Light Iron Ore sports a textile upper adorned with suede and a mix of gray tones accented by bright eye-catching orange highlights. The KD18 features an ultra-lightweight build, offering quick play and enhanced breathability. It’s hands down one of the best KD’s to drop ever! A future collector’s item.
The Nike KD 18 Soft Pearl and Light Iron Ore is out now for a retail price of $155. Pick up a pair at Nike.
The best Jordans to drop all year have been women’s size exclusives. After decades of ignoring its women’s line, over the last few years Nike has been playing catch up delivering some of the best looks and colorways for small-footed sneaker heads, and quite frankly, we’re totally here for it. The AJ-5 Luminous Green and sail sports a leather upper in egg-shell white with muted yellow-green accents, a black midsole, and an icy outsole.
It’s minimal, sure, but the best Jordans often are!
The Women’s Air Jordan 5 Luminous Green and Sail is out now for a retail price of $205. Pick up a pair at Nike.
Teaming up with skatewear brand Awake NY, this Air Jordan 5 feels tailor-made for New Yorkers. The sneaker sports a deep black leather upper with a speckled sharktooth midsole detail, translucent vents, and Awake’s signature “A” logo cut into the side panel. This sneaker is an exercise in the power of smart color combinations — the way the black, rich blue, and icy outsole combine make this pair a real treat for the eyes.
The Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 Black is out now for a retail price of $230. Pick up a pair at Nike.
A ‘90s tennis classic returns! The Air Tech Challenge 2 features a mixed real and synthetic leather upper, with a padded foam collar for extra support, retro checked detailing, and a mix of clean white and bright and bold accents over a Max Air unit.
To our eyes, the sneaker looks far more ‘80s influenced, and doesn’t exactly scream ‘90s, but the advanced tech is there. So if you like classic designs but don’t like the lack of comfort and support they provide, this might be the sneaker for you.
The Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 White and Laser Crimson is out now for a retail price of $155. Pick up a pair at Nike.
Last month (almost to the day), Rema released his uninhibited new single, “Kelebu.” The high-energy track lends itself to ecstatic dancing (or just cutting loose), so he held a global dance challenge to find out the best routine that goes with the track, with the winner taking home $10,000.
The winners, dance collective POP Boys, appear in the long-awaited music video, showing off their routine as Rema himself performs with a marching band and the camera captures dynamic displays of exhilarating movement from around his hometown, Lagos.
In the press release, Rema explained the inspiration behind “Kelebu,” saying:
Growing up, I didn’t have a phone to create my music taste, my household had different music tastes, I listened to what everybody played. In school parties, we used to dance to a lot of Caribbean and Francophone bounces. We didn’t care about what they were saying cause most of them were not even in our local language in Nigeria. They just kept repeating one word with a fantastic instrumental to back it up, and we all danced. Making music now, I’m reliving those moments by expressing it with my art.
“Kelebu” follows Rema’s early 2025 releases “Baby (Is It A Crime)” and “Bout U,” suggesting he’s got more on the way.
Fornite has become nearly ubiquitous in the eight years since its launch, and is extending its growing domination of pop culture with yet another music collaboration. Tomorrow, Fortnite will debut its first-ever official anthem, crafted by one of the game’s biggest fans, d4vd. d4vd shared a snippet of the song, along with illustrated key art, on Instagram, writing: “i started making music for my Fortnite montages 3 years ago man this is crazzzzyyyyyy.”
d4vd is just one of a growing contingent of music’s hottest rising stars to dedicate a ton of their off time to Epic Games’ addictive multiplayer shooter. For instance, Doja Cat has poured hours into the game and even helped affect in-game weapon balancing after an online outburst about an overpowered item. Even Drake jumped on the bandwagon early, helping the game become the juggernaut it is today.
In return, Epic has helped highlight many of these stars, introducing them to a whole new fanbase via the Fortnite Festival, which has hosted a diverse roster including Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, and soon, Gorillaz. Artists like Carpenter and Ice Spice have been turned into in-game characters, and Don Toliver even got his own map and mini-game within its rapidly growing metaverse.
So, d4vd’s the latest in a long line of fans of the game to eventually get to do something within it, but it’s fitting that as such a hardcore fan, he’s the one who gets to launch the next big thing in the form of the official anthem. “Locked & Loaded” drops at 5 PM PT Wednesday, September 3.
It’s been over two decades now since Gorillaz dropped their self-titled debut album in 2001. Damon Albarn was in a different stage of his life then, and he thinks that some of his extracurricular activities played a role in his vocal range.
“I can’t quite believe I can still hit the falsetto,” he joked of his voice on the debut album. He continued, “That first record has a crazy amount of falsetto. [It was] definitely… related to the drugs I was taking. I was a much more irresponsible human being. I was hitting some notes I really didn’t think coming back I’d be able to hit again.”
Gorillaz co-creator and artist Jamie Hewlett also said of the project’s future, “For me and Damon, it’s just… it’s fun. We get to do whatever we want to do. Damon gets to make whatever music he wants to make. He’s not in a band anymore, he’s free to experiment.” Summing up the band’s manifesto, he added, “If you have the ideas, then keep moving forward.”
