Matt Gaetz Was Allegedly To Blame For Feeding Trump One Of His More Bananas Conspiracy Theories

Donald Trump has shared more and wackier conspiracy theories than almost anyone alive. Sometimes they even get others in trouble. Where does he get his kooky ideas? For instance, what cynical doofus told him to exhume some long debunked nonsense about how Joe Scarborough may have murdered an aide? According to one of his turncoat former employees, he got that one from one of the biggest dorks in MAGA land.

As per Mediaite, Alyssa Farah Griffin — the Trump press secretary-turned-cast member of The View — told some wild tales in her deposition to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot. She spoke about the pure chaos of the former president’s administration. To illustrate this, she spoke about a time in 2020 when she spotted Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz hanging out in the West Wing. The latter was wielding a folder, and Griffin went up to him to ask what was inside.

And he pulls it out. It’s conspiracy theories about Joe Scarborough murdering his intern. And I said, “Please do not bring that into the West Wing — or to the Oval Office.” We were literally outside of the Outer Oval. And just — as I’m saying that — I said, You cannot put that in front of the President, he — he gets ushered in. And sure enough, within — by the next morning, the former President is tweeting wild conspiracy theories about a cable news host, you know, allegedly murdering his intern.

Said theory had already been torn apart back in 2017 by The Washington Post. It involved an incident that occurred all the way back in 2001 when a 28-year-old aide died in Scarborough’s office, back when he was a Florida representative, while he was far north in D.C. A coroner found no proof of foul play and everyone moved on.

After Trump and others revived this debunked silliness, the late aide’s widower begged then-Twitter honcho Jack Dorsey to delete them, saying they’d “perverted” the memory of his late wife for their own political gain.

Meanwhile, Gaetz, who’s still under investigation over alleged connections to a sex trafficking ring, has spent most of his energy lately being part of an inner MAGA circle beef between former besties Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert, as well as accusing Democrats of being “Grinches” over Christmas — despite looking a bit like the Grinch himself.

Offset Shared Some Adorable Pictures From His Family Ski Trip With Cardi B

Offset recently shared photos from a family vacation with his wife, Cardi B, and their children. In the pictures, the family can be seen “hitting the slopes” at Big SNOW American Dream, an indoor ski and snowboard center located inside New Jersey’s American Dream mall.

“The reason I gotta go hard,” the “Clout” rapper posted to Instagram on Wednesday, pictured with his 13-year-old son, Jordan, and his 15-month-old, Wave Set, his second, whom he shares with Cardi B.

Cardi B shared her own experience of the trip in an Instagram story, saying, “It’s bigger than I thought it was gonna be, oh my God. ”

The family has been vacationing all over recently. Last week, Offset posted photos from a trip to Jamaica for his 31st birthday, writing, “Happy birthday to me” in the caption. The rapper’s recent travels are presumably a nice escape from the grief he has been dealing with since the death of his Migos group mate and cousin, Takeoff.

“Dear Take, [it] doesn’t feel real posting you like this….This still doesn’t feel like reality,” he captioned an Instagram post this past November. “I’ve been searching for the right words to say, but there aren’t any that will suffice. Until we meet again, Rest In Power. I love you.”

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Lil Wayne Was Gifted With A Custom Pro Board As He Entered His ‘Pro Skater’ Era

Lil Wayne‘s love of skateboarding has finally come full circle — the New Orleans rapper is officially a professional skateboarder. The rapper has been skating for decades at a private skatepark but recently, Wayne received his first “pro model” board. Pro skaters Torey Pudwill, Keelan Dadd, and Yosef Ratleff joined him for the special occasion. The gift comes from Wayne’s videographer for Young Money Skate, Phil Lopez.

The board features a childhood photo of a rapper and some of Weezy’s favorite rap lyrics.

In a clip posted to YouTube, Wayne looked very surprised in the video, with a massive smile plastered across his face as he examined the custom skateboard. The rapper then took to Instagram to thank everyone for his gift, writing in the caption, “THANK YOU, GANG!”

“This was a Christmas gift, but I decided to turn it into a surprise because it would be more meaningful that way,” Lopez said in a video. “As Wayne’s videographer, I wanted to do something special for him that he’d remember. I approached Torey, owner of Thank You Skate Co., with the board design, and he was able to help execute the production process.”

But that’s not the only gift that Wayne has received this year. Earlier this year, Wayne received his first diamond plaque earlier this year in December after his 2008 hit “Lollipop” surpassed 10 million sales in the U.S.

Victor Wembanyama Calls Tanking ‘Weird’ And ‘Unreasonable’

Victor Wembanyama might be the most tank-worthy prospect to enter the NBA since LeBron James. But in a recent interview with Le Parisien, Wembanyama, the 7’4 French prodigy who plies his trade for Metropolitans 92, spoke out against the act of tanking, calling the practice “weird.”

“Tanking? It’s a weird strategy,” Wembanyama said, per Basketnews. “I find it unreasonable, and I try not to think about it. I also heard that the NBA considered changing a few rules for me, but that doesn’t concern me.”

The sound you just heard is Adam Silver crying tears of joy. While he will not join the NBA until after next summer’s Draft, some of the biggest names in the league have started to praise Wembanyama’s upside, with Giannis Antetokounmpo saying he’s going to be a “big problem” and James calling him a “generational talent.” This was on display earlier this year, when Wembanyama got to showcase his skillset during a pair of games against the G League Ignite team which confirmed that we haven’t seen anyone quite like him.

Since those games in Las Vegas, Wembanyama has returned to France and dominated in the country’s top basketball league, LNB Pro A. Wembanyama, who turns 19 in January, is averaging 22.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, three blocks, and 2.3 assists in 32.1 minutes per game.

Lil Nas X’s New Hairdo Has Fans Making Comparisons To An NBA All-Star

While Lil Nas X was one of many people to react to a Steve Lacy thirst trap earlier this month, today (December 29), Lil Nas X reclaimed his rightful position as the center of internet attention. He posted a complimentary Instagram Story about an “mfer” who “sued the hell outta me,” and that was in line with his usual entertaining stream of consciousness, but the main attraction was a separate post about his hair.

“Since everybody sleep what y’all think??” Lil Nas X tweeted alongside a photo and video showing off his new locs.

The reactions were mostly positive, with the throughline being comparisons between Lil Nas X’s new look to that of Memphis Grizzlies All-Star point guard Ja Morant. Even Tierra Whack got in on the fun.

Later, Lil Nas X formally debuted the look on stage at the Falls Festival Melbourne at Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne, Australia. He posted an Instagram carousel of his Australian escapades. (A cheeky flick with Noah Cyrus from Billie Eilish’s 21st birthday bash also made the cut.)

Lil Nas X has been on his Long Live Montero Tour for much of this year in support of Montero, his debut studio album from September 2021.

Lil Soso’s Breathless ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Teaches Listeners How To ‘Catch A Trick’

South Florida rapper Lil Soso released her debut mixtape, Soso World, on Lunchmoney Lewis’ Lunchbox Records earlier this year, but she isn’t resting on her laurels. Last month, she followed up with the high-speed single “Catch A Trick,” and today, her UPROXX Sessions performance of the new track demonstrates its potential as an attention-grabbing earworm that details exactly how to get a man to do her bidding and spend freely on her.

In an interview with The Source, she said of the track, “It’s meant for the girls who wanna let loose, go travel, hang with friends, and just enjoy life… I’m young and like to have fun so my music reflects that.”

Soso signed with Lunchmoney Records banking on the producer’s prior chemistry with well-known hitmakers like Doja Cat, City Girls, Saweetie, and Nicki Minaj. So far, their partnership has produced a few potential hits, including “Bad Attitude,” “Florida Girl,” and “Woo Tang,” which all appear on Soso World. While she’s still at the very earliest part of her career, it’ll probably be worth keeping an eye out for her. In fact, the Issa Rae featured her song “Florida Girl” in the first season of her innovative HBO Max show, Rap Sh!t.

“It’s great to know that she sees the value in what I’m creating,” she said of the moment. “I’m a true Florida girl, so I’m glad I got to share my experiences with people who also represent Florida like I do. Having my song on TV makes me feel like my hard work is paying off and also encourages me to work harder and become a better artist.” Yup, it seems like Lil $o$o’s rise is primed to be an exciting journey to witness.

Ludacris Shared A Motivational Message For The New Year From A Hot Tub In The Mountains

In 2021, Ludacris returned with the song “Butter ATL,” and parts of it were recorded when he had a mouthful of Jif peanut butter. The iconic rapper can do anything he wants, really, but he wants others to thrive as well. In a new video posted on his Twitter, he shared a motivational message to fans.

Lounging in a hot tub in the mountains while it’s snowing, Ludacris is drinking what appears to be champagne before giving his brief but inspiring message: “Cheers to 2023,” he said. “Wishing everybody love, peace, happiness, and challenging y’all to do some new sh*t in the new year that you ain’t never did before. I love y’all. Cheers.” The caption reads: “Let The Past Be The PAST🥂

Last year, a video circulated of Ludacris learning how to be a pilot. The clip prompted many jokes because of how uncharacteristically serious he looked. This year, he made headlines for earning an honorary Bachelor of Science in Music Management degree at Georgia State University, where he previously attended from 1996 to 1998 before dropping out to sign with Def Jam. Of course, he celebrated by gifting himself a private jet. If there’s one reason to try harder in 2023, it’s for Ludacris.

Quentin Grimes Is Turning Into A Crucial Piece For The Knicks

The buzz of an eventual seismic shift within the New York Knicks organization was at its peak after an early December bludgeoning at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks that dropped the team to 10-13 on the season. A trade, a firing, or a combustible cocktail of the two felt imminent. Their next game, a matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 4, kickstarted a run in which no team in the NBA has a better net rating than the Knicks — the team is 10.5 points per 100 possession better than their opponents over their last 12 games.

Evan Fournier was already accruing DNP-CDs. Derrick Rose and Cam Reddish joined him as Tom Thibodeau dropped to a steady, 9-man rotation that strived for consistency and leaned into the players that best fit his defensive system. The Knicks are fourth in defensive efficiency during this 12-game stretch. It’s paid off in a big way on the other end, too, as they are also third in offensive efficiency.

After ripping off an eight game winning streak, dusting a few playoff teams along the way, the Knicks have now dropped four straight. A heartbreaking meltdown against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night in which Luka Doncic essentially decided he was not going to lose felt like the ultimate reversal from the winning streak. It is worth noting R.J. Barrett left that game early, while Jalen Brunson did not play.

Bookending this stretch with losses to the Mavericks is, obviously, not something the Knicks wanted. But regardless, the defense is better, the offense is better, and because of both of these things, the team is better in a way that feels replicable moving forward.

While crediting one player for all of this is, of course, impossible, the play of second-year guard Quentin Grimes are indicative of the process that’s elevated the Knicks. Grimes expands the margins upon which the Knicks, and particularly Thibodeau, try to prey upon. The Knicks are 17th in transition frequency and 28th over this December stretch, but Grimes scores once or twice a game simply by sprinting down court and pressing the defense, which is inherently not a staple of New York’s play style.

Since Dec. 4, Grimes is averaging 14.3 points per game on 64.4 percent true shooting, with 35.6 percent of his points directly generated out of fast break or second chance opportunities. That’s the largest margin outside of Mitchell Robinson, who feasts on putbacks. Simply put, Grimes creates easy buckets without initiating himself.

For a team that has struggled at times to play with pace and movement, this does wonders. Part of this is due to primary schemes and concepts the Knicks employ. Much of their offense is derived from forcing double teams and drawing help, which Julius Randle — who is in the midst of a significant bounceback campaign — often demands. But with stagnant spacing across the floor, it can become easier to pinpoint weaker shooters to sag off of. Offense can quickly turn into one-and-done possessions.

The Knicks have players who can shoot and shoot well, but when going up and down the roster, the lack of movement shooting stands out. Barrett is at his best as a stationary shooter with some lifting from the corners mixed in. Brunson has heated up of late, but often needs a wide open shot, or a one-two dribble pull-up, or a sidestep to get a clean look. Fournier wasn’t much in the way of a movement shooter when in the lineup and Reddish was fairly lukewarm from outside when in the rotation, as well. Immanuel Quickley’s frigid start from deep and hesitancy to let it fly this season has neutered some of his impact as a shooter.

As for Grimes? Well…

Grimes never stops moving. Every step is with a purpose, with an innate feel for how to space himself to be a constant threat. It’s much harder to throw double teams at Randle when a roving 40 percent shooter is sliding into open spaces. Even if he himself doesn’t wind up open, the defense is occupied. Overplay his shot and he’ll make heady cuts to the rim.

(In fairness, this is something of an indictment of Thibodeau and the lack of the offense’s creativity. We’ve seen this become a problem in the clutch when pace slows and defenses are that much more keyed in on personnel. When teams start to dare Randle to make shots without sending help, you can see some of the limitations of reliance on read-and-react basketball when you lack a top-10 player in the sport.)

Grimes is vital as an outlet, an added point of gravity, and a factor of randomness in the offense. He adds movement without needing to script it — Obi Toppin, who has been sidelined due to injury since Dec. 9, brings some of this as well, but without the same shooting threat. He can gun off of an early flare screen in transition. He can boomerang the ball off of a post player and open himself up with deft change of direction. Go under a screen and he can nail dribble pull-ups. He sets himself quick and has a snappy release, a mark of someone with the ability to be one of the best shooters in the game. Grimes just makes good things happen.

His handle is pretty average and he lacks much burst, so creation upside is limited, but with additional secondary ball-screens at his disposal and his savvy movement, Grimes routinely shows off quality playmaking chops. There’s room for that to keep expanding as defenses continue to acknowledge his capabilities and he develops more and more counters.

On the defensive end of the floor, the Knicks’ scheme functions best with intensity and movement. Few players bring the controlled freneticism that Grimes does. He mirrors ball-handlers at a high level with impeccable footwork that shines on his closeouts and screen navigation. Blend those skills with his reaction time and strength, and it’s easy to pinpoint Grimes as a special defensive player.

He rarely gets caught off guard off of the ball, covers ground in a way you’d expect out of a rangy forward rather than a 6’4 off-guard, and is a focal point for defenses to try to screen off of their best initiator — if you can, go back and watch the screening variations the Cavs hit him with in their most recent matchup.

Some may balk at paltry steal numbers, but think of him more like an elite cornerback who takes away an entire side of the field. You can’t gauge him based on his counting stats when teams are doing their best to keep his defensive playmaking out of central actions. If he continues to play like this for the remainder of the year and remains healthy, he warrants All-Defensive consideration.

Grimes moves and plays with a purpose in all facets of the game for every second he is on the floor. For a team that quite literally plays their best ball when they ramp up the intensity, Grimes is an essential piece for a Knicks squad seeking to cement themselves as a team with a strong foundation for a stronger future.

Not Even The Juggernaut ‘Game of Thrones’ Franchise Is Safe From The Behind-The-Scenes Drama At HBO Max, Apparently

Despite the massive success of House of the Dragon — easily one of the most popular series of 2022 – the turmoil behind the scenes at HBO Max and its newly-formed parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, has apparently thrown some turbulence at the planned slate of Game of Thrones spinoff series.

In a new update to his blog, Thrones creator George R.R. Martin shared that the “changes” at the streaming service have caused delays to some of the series. However, he does say that some of the series are actually moving faster, but also, none of them have been greenlit as of this writing. In other words, it’s a pretty fluid situation over there.

Via Not A Blog:

But now I am back in the salt mine, working… working on so many bloody things, my head may soon explode. Yes, WINDS OF WINTER, yes, yes. And HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, season two. And several of the other successor shows that we’re developing with HBO. (Some of those are moving faster than others, as is always the case with development. None have been greenlit yet, though we are hoping… maybe soon. A couple have been shelved, but I would not agree that they are dead. You can take something off the shelf as easily as you can put it on the shelf. All the changes at HBO Max have impacted us, certainly).

Again, given the mammoth success of House of the Dragon, you’d assume WB Discovery would be eager to crank out another series sooner rather than later. However, the spinoff was wildly expensive, and the media company is desperately trying to cut costs across the board. Since the merger, WB Discovery has not been afraid to axe series and straight-up pull titles from its own streaming service.

While Game of Thrones is presumably safe, it tracks that there’d be some extra added caution about dumping more money on a spinoff when there’s no guarantee that it could repeat the success of the original series or House of the Dragon.

Of Course, Snoop Dogg Is Bringing Death Row Records Into The Cannabis Business

Snoop Dogg’s personal joint roller, Renegade PerRana, recently shared with The Kyle And Jackie O Show that she’s rolled “over 450,000” joints for Snoop, including 75 to 100 per day, since taking up the job. Her services might be extended to Death Row Records soon. Snoop Dogg acquired his formative label in February, and ownership over the Death Row catalog started taking shape later that month. The top of 2023 will feature another Snoop-driven Death Row move.

Today, December 29, Death Row Records posted a teaser clip to Instagram soundtracked by Kevin Gilliam (aka DJ Battlecat). “Death Row Cannabis coming January 2023,” the caption read. The Death Row logo is featured, but of course, now he’s holding up a joint. Death Row Cannabis also launched an Instagram account of its own,

As noted by Forbes, Death Row Cannabis’ first product will be cannabis flower and “will be on shelves in the California marketplace, to start,” next week.

The publication additionally relayed, “Death Row Cannabis says its offerings will be for craft connoisseurs, with cannabis cultivated by AK, a legendary West Coast grower who was personally brought on by Snoop Dogg to lead the cultivation for the brand. AK is best known in the cannabis world for his role alongside former partner WizardTrees in sprouting, selecting, and crafting unique phenotypes of strains including RS11, Studio 54, and Shirazi from exotic cannabis breeder DEO.”

The new year figures to be huge for Death Row and Snoop. November 2023 will mark the 30th anniversary of Doggystyle, Snoop’s debut album on Death Row. Snoop revealed in late September on Stephen A. Smith’s K(no)w Mercy podcast that he and Dr. Dre had been in the studio working on a commemorative Doggystyle album, aptly titled Missionary.
