When first-year congressman Madison Cawthorn was unseated earlier this year, it was hardly surprising — except maybe to Cawthorn himself. Rather than gracefully accept defeat, the North Carolina representative threatened that:
“The time for gentile politics as usual has come to an end. It’s time for the rise of the new right, it’s time for Dark MAGA to truly take command. We have an enemy to defeat, but we will never be able to defeat them until we defeat the cowardly and weak members of our own party. Their days are numbered. We are coming.”
Back in June, it was reported that Cawthorn’s involvement with a shady ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ crypto coin pump and dump scheme could lead to even bigger problems for the dude who lied about cocaine-filled GOP orgies. As The Washington Post reports, the House Ethics Committee has issued a parting gift to Cawthorn by demanding that he pay more than $15,000 in fines and fees for promoting the crypto coin in which he had a vested financial interest, yet failed to disclose that very important detail.
According to the committee’s 81-page report released Tuesday, Cawthorn has until the end of the month to pay $14,237.49 — “reflecting the approximate value of the gift he received” — to “an appropriate charitable organization,” and an additional $1,000 in late filing fees to the Treasury Department within 14 days of the report’s release.
But it turns out that Cawthorn could really be as clueless as he seems. According to the report, the committee “did not find that Representative Cawthorn knowingly or willfully failed to file timely disclosures; nonetheless, the ISC found that he is required by statute to pay the applicable late filing fees for his untimely disclosures.” Nor did they find sufficient evidence that there was any insider trading.
Just a few weeks back, according to WaPo, Cawthorn confirmed that he owned approximately 15,400,000,000 Let’s Go Brandon coin, which he estimated to be worth “$357.52.”
The People’s Choice Awards went down yesterday (December 6) at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, and the evening’s winner should come as no surprise. Hosted by comedian Kenan Thompson, the biggest winner at this year’s annual fan-voted ceremony was singer Taylor Swift.
Despite being notably absent, the “Anti-Hero” singer claimed a whooping three awards, including the Female Artist Of 2022, the Music Video OF 2022, and the Album Of 2022, thanks to her devoted Swifties.
“About Damn Time” singer Lizzo won for Song Of The Year and was honored with the People’s Champion award. K-pop icons BTS won both the Group Of 2022 and the Concert Tour Of 2022. “Big Energy” rapper Latto won Best New Artist of 2022. Shockingly, Becky G beat out Bad Bunny for Latin Artist Of 2022. In contrast, Selena Gomez won the Comedy TV Star Of 2022 award (for her role in Hulu’s Only Murders In The Building) and the Social Celebrity Of 2022.
The evening also featured an exceptional performance by country legend Shania Twain, who was honored with the Music Icon Award. Twain, sporting a fierce hot pink bodysuit with contrasting bubblegum pink hair, sang a medley of her greatest hits. During the set, Twain gave a nod to actor Ryan Reynolds (honored with The People’s Icon Award) as she swapped out Brad Pitt’s name for his as she sang “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

While honesty has never been Rudy Giuliani’s most defining characteristic, it’s something he seems to be trying on for size (albeit accidentally) while battling the D.C. Bar’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel — by basically admitting that he’s a terrible lawyer.
On Monday, “Two Watches” Giuliani was called as the first witness in the ethics case brought against the former New York City mayor, whose law license was revoked in Washington, D.C. as a result of his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Specifically: a lawsuit brought in Pennsylvania that baselessly claimed there was election fraud and that Donald Trump suffered an election loss because of it. But as Raw Story notes, Giuliani — who was called as the first witness in the hearing — seems to be making the case that he didn’t willfully violate any ethics laws… he’s just really bad at his job.
“What this case is about is that Mr. Giuliani was responsible for filing a frivolous action, asking a federal court to deprive millions of the people in Pennsylvania of their right to vote,” said Phil Fox, the prosecuting attorney for the Disciplinary Counsel, per Raw Story. “There was no precedent for this. In addition to the fact that there was no precedent, there was no factual basis [for the suit].”
Giuliani, who admitted that he only wrote a paragraph or two of the original complaint (Ron Hicks, a Pennsylvania-based attorney did the bulk of the work), seemed more concerned with being “persecuted” by federal investigations. As for whether or not it was “frivolous,” Rudy’s argument was basically that you have to go with whatever info you’ve got — and hope to find the real proof later.
“The only thing we had at this stage of the litigation was that in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, we had a number of ballots that were being counted without any inspection by an independent party,” he said. “You have to plead fraud with specificity with what you have, with what is available. But in discovery, you get additional information. This was specific enough for this stage of the pleading. That’s why it’s evidence and not a conclusion.”
The Disciplinary Counsel did not seem impressed with this explanation, nor did at least one outside legal expert. Renato Mariotti, a former federal prosecutor and Politico columnist, who tweeted that Giuliani is proving that he’s not just a “bad lawyer,” but a “dishonest” one, too.
Rudy Giuliani’s defense in his bar discipline case is that he was a bad lawyer who was just sloppily throwing allegations out there … even though he was trying to help the President overturn the election.
He’s half right—he *is* a bad lawyer. But he’s also a dishonest one. https://t.co/9UR2NH21B7
Future is set to hit the road next year. As he teased last week, he planned to ring in 2023 by throwing “One Big Party” in Atlanta at the State Farm Arena. Yesterday (December 6), he announced that he would bring the tour to a handful of US cities.
He shared the news via his social accounts, and revealed that in addition to his ATL hometown, he would be bringing the One Big Party Tour to cities like Houston, Chicago, Boston, and more.
For One Big Party, the “Wait For U” hitmaker will be joined by “friends,” as noted in the tour announcement, who are expected to be named soon.
In a recent interview with Billboard, he opened up about his career, which has spanned over a decade, and how the rap game has impacted his life and wellbeing.
“I wouldn’t change this sh*t for nothing in the world,” he said. “I been thinking about that. Talking about it in the interview is one thing, but living this sh*t is different. I love this sh*t, man.”
Tickets for the One Big Party Tour are available for purchase here.

UK group The Go! Team has been going strong for over two decades. Since they first began releasing music in 2000, the band have occupied a niche corner of the indie world. After finding success with last year’s The Get Up Sequences Part One, the band is readying the album’s sequel and trying something new. For forthcoming The Get Up Sequences Part Two, due out in February, the six-piece band is leaning heavily into collaborators from all around the world.
With their recent, catchy singles “Whammy-O” and “Look Away, Look Away,” The Go! Team invited Brooklyn rapper Nitty Scott and West Africa’s Star Feminine Band to lend vocals on their tracks. But that’s not all the band has in store. The Get Up Sequences Part Two is also set to feature Indian Bollywood singer Neha Hatwar, J-Pop band member Kokubo Chisato, and Detroit rapper IndigoYaj. The result is a collection of songs that breathe new life into The Go! Team’s already lively music to bring out even more flavor.
As they’re gearing up for the release of their upcoming seventh studio album, The Go! Team sits down with Uproxx to talk Alice Coltrane, My Bloody Valentine, and an unfortunate tour car crash in our latest Q&A.
What are four words you would use to describe your music?
Amped Up, Technicolor, Trashy, Schizo.
It’s 2050 and the world hasn’t ended and people are still listening to your music. How would you like it to be remembered?
Well I always want The Go team to be about the good stuff in life in a sincere way. Not saccharine or sickly but timelessly melodic and just about the good sh*t.
What’s your favorite city in the world to perform?
Tokyo. Playing Japan is the prize. Every other gig is just killing time until we get to Tokyo.
Who’s the person who has most inspired your work, and why?
Maybe Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine. Although MBV can really be heard overtly in The Go! Team it flows through it. Balancing curvy sweetness with noise is a lifelong mission for me.
Where did you eat the best meal of your life?
Anytime I have a vegetable dansak it’s the best one.
What album do you know every word to?
None. I’m more of a melody man than a lyrics man.
What was the best concert you’ve ever attended?
Sonic Youth in Shepherds Bush Empire about 2003. After years just drifting they bust out of the gates and really had something to prove.
What is the best outfit for performing and why?
I used to wear sweatbands when I drummed that was always handy — sweat and the go team go together.
Who’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter and/or Instagram?
I love this account on Instagram called Dust To Digital which features trippy musical videos from around the world — like someone who is playing the flute with a bedpost or African kids water drumming or making music by revving a motorbike engine. check it out.
What’s your most frequently played song in the van on tour?
We’re such a random band — and i guess that was the idea of The Go! Team was to have people that might not normally be in a band together. So we all like different stuff but that’s kinda the point. Perhaps we could agree on “3 Feet High And Rising” or something.
What’s the last thing you Googled?
I’m watching The White Lotus and I recognized the Harper character so I Googled to find out where I recognized her from (Parks And Rec!)
What album makes for the perfect gift?
Anything by Alice Coltrane — it’s so floaty and windswept. It can make any situation feel like you are in the middle of the ocean.
Where’s the weirdest place you’ve ever crashed while on tour?
I know you mean crashed as in slept — but we actually nearly really crashed on tour. We were driving from coast to coast in a van and in deepest South Dakota in the snow we suddenly did a double spin on the ice in the middle of the freeway and were inches from rolling into a ditch. We carried on to Minneapolis and played the show.
What’s the story behind your first or favorite tattoo?
That’s a real sign of the times that you assume I have one! I don’t actually but I’d quite like to get a digital watch tattoo.
What artists keep you from flipping the channel on the radio?
Velvet Underground, Curtis Mayfield, Xray Spex, Broadcast, Ennio Morricone, Francis Bebey, William Onyeabor, Shirley Ellis, and Sly Stone.
What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?
When I was traveling around America when I was about 19 and was low on money some random woman in a deli in NYC asked if I wanted to stay at her house. It was a bit sketchy — when I turned up she stank of alcohol but turned out fine.
What’s one piece of advice you’d go back in time to give to your 18-year-old self?
I suppose it’s the advice I’d give to anyone who wants to start a band — that it’s more important to kinda take an angle, an approach, a way of seeing the world rather than mastering your instrument. So less shredding — more angle.
What’s the last show you went to?
Stereolab in Brighton. Brill.
What movie can you not resist watching when it’s on TV?
I know Woody Allen is canceled but I still love Play it Again Sam.
What’s one of your hidden talents?
Bizarrely I can sing most theme tunes in exactly the right key. So if someone said sing the theme to Dallas now even though I haven’t heard it for decades it would be in the right key.
The Get Up Sequences Part Two is out 2/23 via Memphis Industries. Pre-order it here.
During last night’s People’s Choice Awards, Lizzo won Song Of The Year (“About Damn Time”) and People’s Champion — with her speech for the second award making significant news today. The fan-voted event found Lizzo’s Champion award being introduced by her mom, making it all the more special of a moment.
“I’ma be honest, when I first heard about this award, I was on the fence about whether I should accept,” she said. “Because, if I’m the people’s champ, I don’t need a trophy for championing people, you know what I’m saying?”
“I’m here tonight because to be an icon isn’t about how long you’ve had your platform,” Lizzo continued. “Being an icon is what you do with that platform. And ever since the beginning of my career, I’ve used my platform to amplify marginalized voices. I am sharing this honor. Make some noise for the people, y’all. These are all activists and people that I think deserve the spotlight.”
Lizzo greeted a handful of activists, naming each person and their causes, from fighting for Flint, Michingan to have clean drinking water to advocating for indigenous communities. As the introduction progressed, Lizzo and the guests were both brought to tears. She hugged a woman who lost her sister, a teacher who protected students in Uvalde. And, at the end of the lineup, she also included Breonna Taylor’s mother, giving space to women across all fields of champion work.

Christian Bale is known for going above and beyond when it comes to physically preparing for his various roles. He will lose weight, gain weight, and even let his nails grow much too long in order to give the performance of a lifetime (or just that month…he’s in a lot of movies). But Bale’s latest transformation is a little more subtle: he has a beard. And a lot of fear behind his eyes!
Bale stars in The Pale Blue Eye, a new Netflix film from director Scott Cooper, director of the equally chilling Antlers. Bale portrays Augustus Landor, a detective who is investigating a mysterious death in one of the scariest places in the world: Upstate New York in the middle of winter. There, he receives help from the famously creepy and dark-minded Edgar Allen Poe.
The movie features an impressive cast including Harry Melling, Gillian Anderson, Timothy Spall, and Robert Duvall. As per the official description:
West Point, 1830. A world-weary detective is hired to discreetly investigate the gruesome murder of a cadet. Stymied by the cadets’ code of silence, he enlists one of their own to help unravel the case — a young man the world would come to know as Edgar Allan Poe.
The Pale Blue Eye will get a limited theatrical release on December 23rd, and will be available on Netflix beginning January 6th. Check out the trailer above.
The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow, and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.
Metro Boomin’sHeroes & Villains arrives two years after he secured his second No. 1 album beside longtime collaborator 21 Savage with Savage Mode II. The sequel effort itself arrived four years after 2016’s Savage Mode, a body of work that helped launch 21 Savage into the mainstream spotlight (with the assistance of features alongside Drake and others). With Heroes & Villains, Metro ventures further into the darkest corners of the world. His debut album Not All Heroes Wear Capes dabbled in slight mischief more than it did deviance and malice. It was playful enough thanks to lighter moments like “Only You” with J Balvin and Wizkid as well as “Borrowed Love” with Swae Lee and Wizkid. Savage Mode II embraced the above-the-law mindset and all the mischief, but with a lot of flexing and braggadocious bars courtesy of 21 Savage’s trademark punchlines and infinite Rolodex of threats and warnings. Heroes & Villains welcomes thunder and gloom as it glorifies a world where bad not only occurs, but thrives.
On Heroes & Villains, Metro Boomin is merely trying to weather the storm – that’s at least one way to look at it. The storm in question could be the one 21 Savage and Young Nudy detail on “Umbrella.” A soul sample introduces the song before 21 and Nudy terrorize the grimacing beat. 21 threatens to make the “choppa sing like it’s Adele” while Nudy furthers the agenda by adding, “Switch on the b*tch, finna whoop me a n**** / Think I was his mama when I get done.” The thing about Heroes & Villains is you don’t necessarily know who’s the hero and who’s the villain. As Future raps about turning “into a superhero” on “Superhero,” he returns later in the album to say he “can’t save no hoe” with Don Toliver on “I Can’t Save You (Interlude).” As Metro Boomin the hero and Metro the villain shake hands on the album’s artwork, Heroes & Villains notes that we can be both in the same person. The world certainly needs saving, but from who exactly?
Aside from the album’s thunderous sonic and heroic themes, Heroes & Villains on the surface is another display of Metro’s fine and wide-ranging work. He shines as a conductor that soundtracks 21 Savage’s determined mission for retaliation on “Walk Em Down” as well as The Weeknd’s airy plead to go uninformed about possible infidelity on “Creepin.’” In totality, the flashy “Feel The Fiyaaah” with ASAP Rocky and the late Takeoff exemplifies the album’s brightest moments, while the gloom of Travis Scott and Young Thug’s “Trance” foreshadows the danger that lurks between the drums and hi-hats of Heroes & Villains.
A decade ago, Metro Boomin was a mere upstart in the hip-hop world. Now he’s a greatly respected producer who’s earned the respect of the industry thanks contribution to the career of superstars like Future, Travis Scott, and Young Thug. The beautiful thing about Metro’s rise alongside these artists, and others like 21 Savage, Gunna, and Migos, is that they continued to stay in touch and collaborate regardless of their fame. As Metro helped to soundtrack the stories of the aforementioned rappers, these same artists returned to help the chart-topping producer complete his stories. It started with Not All Heroes Wear Capes and continues with Heroes & Villains. It’s up to you to determine who the heroes and villains are, but one thing’s for sure, they sure know how to work together when needed.
Heroes & Villains is out now via Boominati Worldwide/Republic Worldwide. You can stream it here.
Joe Rogan took a break — at least temporarily — from weighing in on abortion, politics, fentanyl in Halloween candy, and various other topics on which he has proven to have no expertise to talk about something that’s slightly more in his wheelhouse: steroids.
As Mediaite reports, Rogan chatted with Derek — just Derek — the YouTuber behind the popular fitness channel More Plates More Dates, and at some point the conversation inevitably turned to gym candy. “Does the Rock say he’s clean?,” Rogan wanted to know of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who the podcaster described as having a “preposterous physique.”
“He has implied it pretty heavily, but he also doesn’t end up in scenarios where he gets asked point blank,” was Derek’s reply, which seemed to annoy Rogan: “The Rock should come clean right now…. There’s not a f***ing chance in hell he’s clean. Not a chance in hell. As big as the Rock is at 50?” (Rogan, it should be noted, is 55.)
Rogan then had his producer bring up some photos of The Rock so that he and Derek could study and comment on them, which was only slightly awkward. Finally, and ironically, Rogan — a king of misinformation — declared that: “There’s a responsibility that you have to people that are listening to you. And if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s one thing. But if you do talk about it, there’s a responsibility that you have to people that are listening to you. And I think you have to be honest. Which is why I’m honest about it.”
The state of Georgia has spoken, and it turns out that the majority of residents don’t want a werewolf, a vampire, orHerschel Walker as their senator (neither does Walker’s son, apparently). While it’s yet another victory for Democrats, it’s also impossible to deny that the former football player’s entire campaign provided a bit of comic relief at a time when we needed it the most. Jimmy Kimmel addressed this very fact on Tuesday night’s show, when he noted:
Even though he’s a beloved local football hero, Herschel Walker hasn’t exactly inspired passion amongst Republican voters. If you go down the list of what their party supposedly values the most — family values: he’s a serial domestic abuser with more kids than a Dave & Buster’s on a Saturday at noon. Charity: He claimed his company gave 15 percent of their profits to charity; three of the four charities listed on his website said he gave nothing, the other said ‘no comment.’ Pro-life? He was Planned Parenthood’s customer of the year I think.
That wasn’t the end of Kimmel’s list, but you get the point. Yet, despite all of this, the host admitted that “as a person who does a show every night, the idea that Herschel Walker won’t be on camera every day is sad to me.” Because what other single individual is going to whip out a toy badge one day and think it actually makes him part of law enforcement, then argue with himself about whether it’s cooler to be a vampire or a werewolf the next day?
It’s for this very reason that Kimmel was not afraid to admit that he’ll miss Walker, and to thank him with a heartfelt tribute to what he described as “one of the most entertaining Senate campaigns in the history of this country,” which he tearfully set to the Sarah McLachlan’s “I Will Remember You.”
You can watch the tribute video at the 4:15 mark, or start at the very beginning of the video to see the entire segment.
