Why Is HBO Max Coming Back To Amazon’s Prime Video Channels?

After negotiations with Amazon fell through, HBO Max content stopped being available through Prime Video Channels back in September 2021. However, now that HBO Max’s parent company is under new leadership following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, the streaming platform’s content has returned to Amazon Prime. As for why the sudden reversal is happening, it’s pretty simple. HBO Max left a sizable amount of subscribers on the table in its aggressive pursuit to become one of the top streaming platforms on the market.

Via Variety:

The sticking point: WarnerMedia, then owned by AT&T, wanted more control of the direct-to-consumer relationships — including the ability to collect data for targeted advertising — than Amazon was willing to cede. About 5 million HBO/HBO Max customers had subscribed through Prime Video Channels, and the end of that deal took a bite out of HBO Max’s subscriber base.

With Discover CEO David Zaslav now at the helm, Warner Bros. Discovery is drastically rethinking its streaming strategy. The newly-merged media conglomerate is now more interested in spending on theatrical releases, and it’s entirely open to licensing out its deep bench of IP to other streamers.

In short, HBO Max — which will later combine with Discovery+ for a new, all-consuming streaming platform — is less concerned with trying to dominate the competition and more concerned with being a profitable business model that leverages Warner Bros. massive library. It’s in their interest to hop back onboard with Amazon, and so be it.

Christopher Meloni responded to a fan’s ‘Law & Order: SVU’ themed wedding invitation

You may have heard of Christopher Meloni. You know, the actor who’s starred in 12 seasons of a little show called “Law & Order: SVU”? Whose character was so popular he got his own spinoff show? The originator of the “zaddy” moniker? Yeah, that guy.

Well, it’s no secret that the 61-year-old actor, and the show that put him on the map, has a loyal fan base. Recently, a couple, clearly dedicated to the show, decided to tie the knot with a series of “Law & Order”-themed wedding invitations. Naturally, they invited Detective Elliot Stabler himself.

“Chris, please come to my wedding,” tweeted Kelly Heenan, the bride-to-be. Along with her request, she posted a photo of her wedding invitation, which was a spitting image of the show’s iconic poster.

The couple’s dedication apparently paid off, because Meloni replied with a simple “and do what?” This set off a hilarious slew of suggestions from fans, who knew exactly how to make the most of this proposed appearance.

Fellow crime show icon Rick Otto (of “Criminal Minds” and “The Wire”) suggested that Meloni serve hors d’oeuvres. Why? It “could be fun” to have people wonder if the guy serving them was the real Stabler and “eat all the crab cakes you could desire.” Obviously.

“Intriguing,” Meloni responded. Perhaps he’s a fan of seafood.

Another wrote “just stand like this for a few hours,” along with a candid image of Meloni stretching his legs (and inadvertently showcasing his backside) which had previously risen to meme status. To be clear, Meloni has a series of memes dedicated to his butt. Not just one. Multiple. It’s something his kids allegedly make fun of him for at all times.

“Can’t have a wedding without serving cake,” one person quipped. Have we made it clear that people are relentlessly thirsty for Meloni?

Many suggested that Meloni stay truer to his role in the show, and therefore solve a murder or arrest someone—possibly even the bride. Or kiss her. That was also a possibility.

Heenan did end up chiming in again, sharing that she “accidentally blew the budget on disco ball and peacock feathers,” asking Meloni if he had a camera or box cake mix.

She also shared a photo of the back of the couple’s wedding, which paid intimate homage not only to the famous ”Law and Order” font, but the words played at the beginning of each episode.

It read:

In our social system the wedding of two people in love is considered especially joyous. In Saint Paul, Minnesota, two dedicated individuals will become members of an elite civil union known as Mr. and Mrs. John and Kelly Damask. This is their wedding date.

Though some could argue that Meloni never left the spotlight, the actor has noted his return to the franchise as a “second act” in his career, one that he is trying to savor every moment of. He noted in an interview with People that everything in his life, including the career renaissance, is even easier to appreciate after growing older.

“Age is a wondrous thing. You hope that with time you get a little wiser, get a little more patient and really come from a place of more maturity, which I translate to clarity and love,” he told People. “And by love, it’s not kumbaya, but a sense we’re all in this together, we’re all doing the best we can. It’s a more refined way to operate.”

Does all this mean Meloni will be attending that wedding? Guess we’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

Dun dun!

Women reveal 10 things some men unknowingly do that are an instant turnoff

If you ask most single people, dating is a pretty big poop show. Dating apps have taken an activity that was awkward enough on its own and turned it into a job-finding board. You have approximately 3.45 seconds to impress someone with your face, your hobbies, your job, political leanings and whether or not you want children.

That’s it. If you’re not ringing any buzzers in those first few seconds, the person on the other end swipes left and your profile picture is staring up at another potential suitor. But if you make it past the lightning round known as the dating app and actually meet in person, other things come into play that may be an instant turnoff.

A Reddit user asked, “Women, what are some things that make a man insanely unattractive but they don’t realize?” It’s safe to say that the ladies had a few non-negotiables since there are nearly 3,000 comments on the thread.

Women in the thread had some pretty specific turnoffs that some men may be grateful to know. I assume most people don’t go around attempting to make themselves less appealing to potential partners so think of this list is a bit of a PSA. Or, you can look at it like a piece of comedy and have a chuckle to think about later. Either way, the women were asked to take the floor on this one so let’s hear them out.

men; women; dating; turn off; ask reddit

1. Spending the majority of the conversation talking about yourself

I think all genders can be guilty of this one. We tend to get a bit nervous on dates and develop a sudden case of verbal diarrhea. It’s like an overcompensation for thinking you won’t talk enough, but it can become a turnoff if it seems more like a love of hearing your own voice.

2. Being an absent or “bad” father

Of course the dialogue was expanded to include complaining about paying child support as if it contributes to your ex’s lavish lifestyle. Obviously there are situations where being absent isn’t the choice of the father, but these ladies want receipts and details.

men; women; dating; turn off; ask reddit

3. Only having “crazy” exes

It seems the consensus is that if everyone is crazy then the common denominator is the guy in question. One or two “crazy” exes could be excused, but every person you’ve dated? That gets a side eye and a quick exit strategy.

4. Complaining or putting down other women

This may seem like it falls under the previous category but it doesn’t. Putting down other women doesn’t have to include people that you’ve dated. It could mean women at the gym, online, at the grocery store or family members.

men; women; dating; turn off; ask reddit

5. Avoiding tough conversations

Expressing your feelings can be hard and sometimes it’s even harder when you’re having to hear someone else’s feelings about something you’ve done. But avoiding difficult conversations can be a relationship killer according to the comments. Just take a deep breath and do the hard thing.

6. Not admitting when you’re wrong

Ahhh, this is one that is so common that sitcom writers write jokes about it. Admitting that you’re wrong is uncomfortable, we get it. No one wants to be wrong, but the world doesn’t work that way. At some point you will be wrong and it’s best to own up to it so you can move on.

men; women; dating; turn off; ask reddit

7. Being an “alpha male” or having no filter

Sorry guys, but it’s pretty clear that the ladies in the comment section consider that a big turnoff and a sign that you’re just mean. Well, they didn’t say mean, they used much more colorful language.

8. Only treating women with respect if they’re attractive

Big yikes on bikes here. I’m going to assume that everyone knows that’s not cool and move on because this is pretty self explanatory.

men; women; dating; turn off; ask reddit

9. Rage

That was it. That was the comment. Another person elaborated and said that rage is not only a turnoff but it’s scary. Not everyone learns to regulate their emotions well growing up, but thankfully there are therapists and coaches available to give you some skills if rage is an issue.

10. Not being able to cook or clean

Cooking and cleaning are life skills that every functioning adult should have. We’re just talking the basics here, no need to be a master chef or the woman that asks if things bring joy before tossing them in the trash. They want you to throw out the expectation that you will find a partner to cook and clean for you.

Of course, everything on this list is subjective but if you were curious, it’s a good start. Happy dating folks!

Saweetie Denied Dissing Lil Baby And Quavo On Her New Song, ‘Don’t Say Nothin”

Saweetie is setting the record straight. While her latest EP The Single Life didn’t do so well on the charts, people still can’t help but talk about it.

A particular song, “Don’t Say Nothin’,” features Saweetie addressing her love life, and many have interpreted some of the lines as references to certain rappers — specifically, Quavo and Lil Baby.

One particular line seems to address a rumored $100,000 shopping spree, to which Lil Baby had supposedly treated her.

“A hunnid K, please, you know how much paper I be touchin’ on? / That’s light, better check my net worth / Post a pic in his sweatshirt, I bet it have my ex hurt / That’s what I get for kissin’ on these frogs / He got mad and told my business to the blogs,” she raps on the track.

In an Instagram Live broadcast, she shut down rumors that the song was about Quavo or Lil Baby, saying, “Ain’t nobody dissing nobody. When I went on Caresha Please, I told y’all, whoever’s on ‘Don’t Say Nothin,’ whoever that messaging was towards, it wasn’t toward nobody. Ain’t nobody dissing them boys. So you can kill them rumors and kill that because y’all don’t even know who I’m talking about.”

Also during her live, she shared a snippet of a new song called “Icy Girl, Icy World,” which samples “Barbie Girl” by Aqua.

Saweetie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

The 11 Best Holiday-Themed Fast Food Drinks Right Now, Ranked

Are winter-themed drinks best served hot or cold? It’s a question as oft-debated as the true meaning of the season. The holidays are typically a quiet time for fast food brands and while there isn’t a lot of new food out there to tantalize our taste buds, there are a whole lot of winter-themed drinks (both hot and cold) to quench our thirst and indulge our sweet tooth. Sweet teeth? Whatever.

Whether you’re hitting up Starbucks or Shake Shack between shopping for your loved ones the drinks menu is where you’ll find the most innovation during the holiday months, but what’s the best holiday drink worth your time and money? We set out to find out by ordering every limited holiday-themed seasonal drink we could find across the fast food universe in search of the very best. Because temperatures vary so radically nationwide, there is thankfully a lot of variety out there, whether you love warm and cozy chocolate-based coffees and cinnamon-spiked teas to need something cool and refreshing like milkshakes and smoothies.

Without further ado, let’s dive into our ranking of the best winter and holiday-themed drinks you can pick up right now.

11. Dunkin’ — Toasted White Chocolate Signature Latte

Winter Drinks Ranked
Dunkin

Tasting Notes:

When a drink is coffee-based I tend to look for a balance between the sweeter notes and the natural coffee flavors, Dunkin’ clearly doesn’t follow the same philosophy. The Toasted White Chocolate Signature Latte is all about the sweetness, with a strong vanilla-heavy white chocolate body that is topped with caramel and sugar-spiked cinnamon on the whipped cream. There is the smallest hint of a coffee finish during the aftertaste, but it’s more bitter and flat than it is rich and complex like good coffee should be.

Still, if you like incredibly sweet drinks, this hits the spot. Personally, I found it too intensely sweet to fully finish.

The Bottom Line:

It tastes like white chocolate melted down and liquified, which might be what you’re after, but if you’re hoping to taste coffee, look elsewhere.

10. Wendy’s — Peppermint Frosty

Best Shake
Wendy

Tasting Notes:

Let me start off by saying I think the new Peppermint Frosty is delicious! But I’m a little salty that Wendy’s made this a vanilla-based flavor rather than a chocolate-based one. The drink begins with a luxurious creamy vanilla-forward flavor with the slightest cool minty peppermint lift on the back end.

Wendy’s Frosty machine makes it so they can only make two Frosty flavors at once, so I understand why they didn’t want to temporarily cancel the chocolate Frosty for a seasonal drink, but I think it would’ve resulted in a much better drink overall. Oh well, I suppose we can dream what that would taste like.

The Bottom Line:

Vanilla smooth with a subtle minty lift on the aftertaste. It’s delicious but it could’ve been even better if Wendy’s was willing to take a chance.

Find your nearest Wendy’s here.

9. Arby’s — Caramel Cinnamon Shake

Winter Drinks Ranked
Arby

Tasting Notes:

Earthy and spicy, Arby’s Caramel Cinnamon Shake tastes sort of like a churro with earthy caramel syrup drizzled all over it. The shake has a luxuriously creamy vanilla body with a sugary-sweet flavor that combines brown sugar with some nutty richness. The flavors come very close to matching horchata, but the caramel masks a lot of the creamy character.

I wish there was a more pronounced and spicy cinnamon flavor to it to add some balance against the intense sweetness, but it’s kind of hard to hate on something that tastes this much like a churro.

The Bottom Line:

Heavy on caramel, this milkshake is deliciously brown sugar-sweet but lacks the promise of complexity that cinnamon would suggest.

Find your nearest Arby’s here.

8. Jamba Juice — Merry Orange Cranberry

Winter Drinks Ranked
Jamba Juice

Tasting Notes:

If you’ve never walked into a Jamba Juice you might think that the juice chain is some sort of health nut haven. But for every legitimately healthy drink on the menu, there is an equally unhealthy sugar-infused drink with a jaw-dropping amount of calories. The White Gummy, the Peanut Butter Moo’d, these drinks have more than a day’s worth of sugar packed into a single drink, and the new Merry Orange Cranberry falls into this camp. For one, it doesn’t have any actual fruit in it, just orange juice, a cranberry-flavored base, a scoop of orange sherbet, and coconut-infused whipped cream.

A single small cup of this packs over 400 calories and 65 grams of sugar, you might as well be drinking two Coca-Colas. Having said all that… it’s f*cking delicious. It has that intense fresh-squeezed orange juice flavor elevated with a tart cranberry finish that’ll make you salivate after a single sip.

The Bottom Line:

The only reason to dip into Jamba Juice during the winter months.

Find your nearest Jamba Juice here.

7. Jack in the Box — Frozen Hot Cocoa Shake

Winter Drinks Ranked
Jack in the Box

Tasting Notes:

At first glance, JiB’s Frozen Hot Cocoa Shake seems totally redundant considering there is already a chocolate milkshake on the menu, but this is a significant improvement over the stock chocolate. Both flavors rely on a thick vanilla base infused with chocolate, but the Frozen Hot Cocoa Shake features a toasted marshmallow component to it that makes it taste much more pleasing and complex. It has that chalky finish that is characteristic of marshmallows with some slightly caramelized notes on the aftertaste.

Instead of the typical cherry, JiB tops the whipped cream with a dusting of cocoa powder. It’s pretty solid and much better than JiB’s fall-only Basic Witch Shake.

The Bottom Line:

Everything you love about hot chocolate, frozen.

Find your nearest Jack in the Box here.

6. McDonald’s — Oreo Fudge McFlurry

Winter Drinks Ranked
McDonald

Tasting Notes:

I’m not sure if this really counts as a holiday drink considering McDonald’s has all the ingredients on hand to make this year around, but for whatever reason, it’s only available for a limited time, so we’re counting it. The Oreo Fudge McFlurry is a simple combination of McDonald’s fudge sundae and the Oreo McFlurry, with a combination of vanilla soft serve, hot chocolate fudge, and Oreos blended throughout.

The Oreos and hot fudge combine to deliver two different forms of chocolate flavor with the vanilla serving as a creamy counterbalance to offset the intense chocolatey richness. I’m not entirely sure why this isn’t on the menu year-round, I assume it started as some sort of dessert menu hack, but if that were the case Mcdonald’s would make you order the ingredients separately and put it together yourself.

The Bottom Line:

A perfect combination of McDonald’s two best dessert orders.

Find your nearest McDonald’s here.

5. Dairy Queen — Snickers Brownie Blizzard Treat

Winter Drinks Ranked
Dairy Queen

Tasting Notes:

For the holidays DQ serves the Oreo Hot Cocoa Blizzard, the Very Cherry Chip Blizzard, the Reeses Take Five Blizzard, and the Snickers Brownie Blizzard, and I’m still not sure if going with the latter was the right choice, but that tastes to me the best of the bunch. It combines the nougat, caramel, and chocolate combo of the Snickers with some rich brownie goodness resulting in a spoonable Snickers that tastes a bit more chocolate-forward than a bar of the real thing.

Still, I have to knock this drink down a few pegs because, well, it’s not really a drink. Blizzards are best enjoyed via a spoon so I’m not entirely sure this counts for this ranking and aside from that, it doesn’t taste quite as good as a Snickers. For this to be ranked any higher, it would have to taste like more than the sum of its parts and… it doesn’t.

The Bottom Line:

Very good but not quite as good as an actual Snickers bar.

Find your nearest Dairy Queen here.

4. Starbucks — Peppermint Mocha

Winter Drinks Ranked
Starbucks

Tasting Notes:

There are Starbucks fans that wait all year to order this holiday treat and you know what? We get it. Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha Latte is easily the best iteration of this drink on the fast food market. Nobody does it better. The latte features rich and luxurious chocolate notes that shift into a supremely cool and refreshing lift at the aftertaste.

It’s perfectly balanced between rich and refreshing. For some extra flair, Starbucks tops this drink with curls of dark chocolate that melt into the drink and add an extra infusion of chocolatey goodness. If Starbucks had better espresso instead of the bitter flat flavor of their stock roast, this might be in the running for the greatest holiday drink of all time.

The Bottom Line:

The best iteration of the Peppermint Mocha flavor combination in the entire fast food universe.

Find your nearest Starbucks here.

3. Shake Shack — Christmas Cookie Shake

Winter Drinks Ranked
Shake Shack

Tasting Notes:

Holy shit is this thing sweet. If you love sugar cookies so much you’d want to drink them, this is your milkshake. It features that same vanilla-heavy shortbread flavor of sugar cookies but trades in the dry and chalky texture for something smooth and rich. It’s almost dangerously drinkable. To top off the drink Shake Shack adds thick whipped cream with holiday sugar sprinkles. It’s entirely too sweet, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself unable to finish the full drink (I couldn’t) but as much of it you do drink, will be delicious.

It almost tastes like pure cookie dough — delicious in sips but it can quickly become overwhelming.

The Bottom Line:

Almost too much of a good thing. Almost.

Find your nearest Shake Shack here.

2. Coffee Bean — Winter Dream Tea Latte

Winter Drinks Ranked
Coffee Bean

Tasting Notes:

While Starbucks fans wait all year to sip on some Peppermint Mocha, I reach for Coffee Bean’s Winter Dream Latte. Imagine Chai tea without the cardamom and a heavier emphasis on cinnamon and allspice and you’ll get a sense of what Winter Dream tastes like. The tea is a mixture of allspice, star anise, cinnamon, black tea, and rooibos red tea, giving it a balance of spicy and earthy flavors sweetened by Coffee Bean’s vanilla powder.

A splash of milk adds a creamy component to it, resulting in a drink that is equal parts spicy, sweet, and rich.

The Bottom Line:

It tastes like the holidays in a cup. This is the perfect winter hot drink.

Find your nearest Coffee Bean here.

1. Chick-fil-A — Peppermint Chip Milkshake

Winter Drinks Ranked
Chick-fil-A

Tasting Notes:

As much as I love Coffee Bean’s Winter Dream tea latte, I live in Southern California, so it’s never not a good time to indulge in a frozen treat, even during the winter. Chick-fil-A’s Peppermint Chip milkshake is the perfect holiday drink — combining Chick-fil-A’s Ice Cream vanilla base with chips of blended peppermint perfectly distributed throughout the shake. There isn’t a sip of this thing that doesn’t contain bits of peppermint in it, resulting in a mint flavor that dominates the drink.

Generally, holiday drinks use peppermint as a feature, not a focus, resulting in something that takes the backseat to whatever flavor it’s paired with, usually only experienced as part of the aftertaste. The Peppermint Chip milkshake isn’t like that, it prominently features peppermint at the forefront, resulting in one of the most refreshing milkshakes I’ve ever had from first sip to last. If Chick-fil-A ever figures out a way to add chocolate to their Ice Dream, this may go down as one of the greatest milkshakes of all time.

The Bottom Line:

The only holiday drink that prominently features peppermint at the forefront this will be one of the most refreshing and throat-soothing milkshakes you’ll ever have. However, if you’re not a fan of peppermint as a flavor, you’re probably better off with our number two choice.

Find your nearest Chick-fil-A here.

SZA Fans Are Asking For A Hayley Williams Collab And Her Answer Is Surprisingly Promising

Yesterday, SZA revealed the official tracklist for her sophomore album, S.O.S. dropping on Friday. The record, which contains a whopping 23 songs, also shocked fans by the collaborations that are on it. While SZA is teaming up with Travis Scott once more on “Open Arms,” the real surprise came in the form of a Phoebe Bridgers appearance on the song “Ghost In The Machine.”

After the reveal, fans of both Bridgers and SZA were sent into an internet frenzy. It also left many wondering: Who will SZA feature on a song next? (And will it take another five years?)

One fan threw Paramore’s Hayley Williams as a potential collaborator. As it turns out, they weren’t too far off. “I talk to her more than you’d think lol,” SZA revealed in response.

This isn’t the first time Paramore and SZA have interacted, either. In 2018, the band did a mash-up of their song “Grow Up” with SZA’s “20 Something” during a live show. Then, in May 2020, Williams covered SZA’s song, “Drew Barrymore” — and has dropped references to “Go Gina” in her Instagram Story.

Other users have since shared that they want to see everyone from The Weeknd, Taylor Swift, Kehlani, and more on future SZA albums. “you talk to kehlani too? lets get into this collab,” another fan wrote.

Seth Meyers Is Slightly Horrified That Former Crack Addict/Current Deranged Person Mike Lindell Could Soon Be Running The Republican Party

Seth Meyers was back behind the Late Night desk after an extended Thanksgiving break. And while a lot has happened during that time, including former — and wannabe future — president Donald Trump suggesting we just do away with the Constitution, Meyers seemed even more terrified by another emerging story: MyPillow Man Mike Lindell’s current plan to be named head of the Republican party.

Meyers played a clip of Lindell telling fellow loon Steve Bannon that he is “100 percent in” on challenging current RNC chair Ronna McDaniel — despite the fact that he makes crappy pillows for a living and his only real political experience is spreading election fraud conspiracy theories that have gotten him sued for nearly $2 billion. So, sure, why not put him in charge?

But Lindell is convinced that Republicans are secretly rooting for him. As he told Bannon: “One of the things that one of the big donors said to me, he said, ‘Mike… everybody wants you to be head of the RNC. Some of them just don’t know it yet.’”

“I mean, I’d say he dreamt that conversation,” Meyers said, “but that meant he fell asleep. Which, one, he seems incapable of and, two, is impossible using a MyPillow. The only way Lindell ever got a solid eight hours is if he used a TheirPillow.”

What worries/amuses Meyers most about the very idea of Lindell running the Republican party, is how he would surely use such a position to “obviously focus on his deranged election conspiracy theories,” including his current insistence that the 2022 midterms were rigged against Republicans. He pointed to Arizona, where voters were asked to fill out ballots versus use voting machines in some areas, then mimicked some sort of bizarre motion about “what we do with mail-in ballots” that seemed to resemble what a masturbating gorilla might look like — though Meyers went for “milking a giant cow.” (You can see if for yourself right around the 4:00 mark.)

It turns out that what he was attempting to show was Democrats just pulling random names: “Joe Schmo, Johnny Bananas, Sue Smith,” he attempted to explain — all of which was one step too far for Meyers:

Alright, we’ve had a good time with Mike Lindell over the years, but at some point it stops being funny. So let me say with all seriousness: You leave Johnny Bananas out of this! You think he’s had it easy? Going through life with the name Johnny Bananas? You think that’s a fun trip to the DMV?

As for Sue Smith? “She can go ahead and f**k right off,” says Meyers. “That’s not a real name.”

You can watch the full clip above beginning at the 2:00 mark.

All The Best New Pop Music From This Week

With December, major holidays, and Best Of list season in full swing, many music lovers might be reflecting on their favorite memories and melodic moments of 2022. However, these pop artists below have their sights set on the present and for some, taking over the charts next year with potential album releases. If you’ve clicked on this, there’s a large possibility you can be ahead of the curve by jamming out to the roundup of new songs.

Here is Uproxx’s guide to this week’s Best New Pop music.

PinkPantheress – “Boy’s A Liar”

Another electronic dance track with a twinkling electronic beat by Mura Masa, PinkPantheress’ “Boy’s A Liar” emphasizes her thoughts on a failed relationship due to a dishonest dude. “Can you take a look inside your heart? / Is there any room for me?” she asks.

RM (feat. Anderson .Paak) – “Still Life”

RM enlisted Anderson Paak for his new song “Still Life,” off his solo album, Indigo. Blending elements of R&B with RM’s heavy-hitting rap verses, .Paak adds a pleasant touch to the optimistic chorus. This is an easy standout from this week.

Alexander 23 (feat. Laufey) – “Ain’t Christmas”

Bringing the emo energy for the holiday season, “Ain’t Christmas” is an acoustic carol between Alexander 23 and Laufey. As she opens the first verse with “the most wonderful time of the year is breaking my heart,” it immediately sets the somber tone for both vocalists. And there’s even a Mariah Carey namedrop.

Noah Cyrus – “Set For Life”

The closing track on her newly-released deluxe album edition, Noah Cyrus shines on the moody “Set For Life” — with her soulful vocals complimented by the piano and percussion. Reminiscent of acts like Lana Del Rey, especially in the second verse, it was a pleasant surprise as someone who wasn’t super familiar with Cyrus’ discography.

Quinn XCII (feat. Chelsea Cutler) – “Let Me Down”

Another collaboration between Quinn XCII and Chelsea Cutler, “Let Me Down” is an electronic-influenced anthem with tinges of lyrical sadness. “After putting out our sixth collaboration over the last five years, it really never gets old working on music with Chelsea,” Quinn shared via The Honey POP.

J. Maya – “Machine Learning”

J. Maya’s “Machine Learning” is proof that her decision to pursue music instead of Harvard Law is paying off. Relying on a robotic-esque beat as she speaks to societal standards, J. Maya is also offering an uplifting message to someone else.

PNAU, Troye Sivan – “You Know What I Need”

A disco-influenced dance track from DJ trio PNAU and Troye Sivan, “You Know What I Need” contains a catchy beat that will keep listeners returning to this release. “We went deep on this one with legendary pianist Reuben James, we will see you on the dance floor,” PNAU’s Nick Littlemore told Rolling Stone.

Katie Gregson-Macleod – “White Lies”

Gregson-Macleod heartbreakingly details the seemingly-autobiographical memories of a lost relationship in “White Lies.” From “a world where you didn’t keep changing your mind” to pretending to be busy, she eventually boils it down to one line about moving on in the piano-driven chorus, “The truth is, maybe, I don’t.”

Olivia Knox – “Smoke Signal”

“Smoke Signal” is a fiery, fast, synth-pop song that taps into the art of impatience, specifically about trying for her career. “You always have something to say,” Knox mocks at those who doubt her artistry. “But your words, they bore me.”

Emei – “Backtrack”

Emei’s newest release, “Backtrack” is a powerful follow-up to a groundbreaking year for the alt-pop artist. “Turn your words to ice on my bruise / Can’t pull a punch you already threw,” she sings, packing her own lyrical punch in the process.

Aubrey Plaza Is Convinced That Her ‘The White Lotus’ Character, Harper, Is ‘Disgusted’ By Cameron

At the beginning of this The White Lotus season, Cameron almost immediately flashed Harper, who didn’t seem like she was into it. At all. Fast forward almost one week of vacation malaise, and Harper might be into it? At least, she has been seemingly encouraging the vibe with giggling mutual drinking after making her thoughts clear on Ethan not really wanting to sleep with her. She might be egging Cameron on, and Ethan is moving close to the brink by hallucinating a sex thing between Harper and his old buddy. None of this bodes well for Ethan’s state of mind and could possibly lead to murder, but Aubrey Plaza doesn’t believe that Harper actually likes Cameron.

As Plaza told Vanity Fair, “I think she’s disgusted by him.” That doesn’t mean that sex is off the table though. In other words thanks a lot, Ethan:

“I don’t think he’s her type, you know? But I think that he’s hitting on a nerve with her, which is that she wants to f*ck, you know? Sorry, but it’s just like we’re all animals. It’s hard when you’re in a long term relationship. It’s like you stop having sex, or the sex gets boring or whatever it is. It’s just human nature, you know? It’s like your pheromones meet somebody and maybe they’re not your type or whatever, but it hits on a thing with her where she’s like, ‘I don’t wanna think.’”

Man, Aubrey knows how to stoke the intrigue. Ethan’s pretty paranoid right about now, but he did pick up on a few possible clues about Harper and Cameron sneaking off to rooms at the same time. It doesn’t feel like Harper would want to go there (since she was so disgusted by the thought of those call girls in her room), but who knows? She may think that hooking up with Cameron wouldn’t upset Daphne at all, and she seems really irked by Ethan these days. Also, the whole gulf between the morning-and-evening sex preferences may be striking more of a long-term chord than expected.

Maybe we’ll find out the truth when this week’s The White Lotus finale airs.
