In GOP Land, few things reek more of desperation than 1. Going on Newsmax and 2. Being interviewed by Sean Spicer on Newsmax. But this is the unfortunate position that House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy has found himself in as a handful of his fellow Republicans, including Florida Man Matt Gaetz, have openly vowed to not support McCarthy’s bid for Speaker of the House.
On Monday evening, as Mediaite reports, McCarthy — whose smile was so permanently plastered onto his face that he actually looked like a cardboard cutout, or as if his camera had frozen — chatted with Trump’s favorite scapegoat-turned-Dancing With the Stars contestant about the many reasons why he should be the GOP’s only choice to take over Nancy Pelosi’s position as Speaker of the House when Republicans resume power in January.
According to Spicer, a few of his recent guests have pledged their un-allegiance to McCarthy and have even floated one-time poop recipientJim Jordan as a possible candidate for the role, despite the fact that Jordan is standing behind McCarthy. So when Spicer gave McCarthy — who really thought he was sitting pretty ’til about a month ago — the chance to speak to his critics within the GOP and give them a quick elevator pitch about why they should indeed vote for him as Speaker, McCarthy essentially laid out what the future might look like without him in the role, which sounded like the GOP version of a dystopian zombie movie.
We got five more weeks. We’re working through our conference rules today. We want to make sure that everybody has input, but we have to speak as one voice. We will only be successful if we work together or we’ll lose individually.
This is very fragile that we are the only stopgap for this Biden administration. And if we don’t do this right, the Democrats can take the majority. If we play games on the floor, the Democrats could end up picking who the speaker is.
The outpouring of love and admiration continues for late rapper Nipsey Hussle. Family and fans of the musician continues to push the musician’s legacy forward following his tragic death in 2019.
Now, thanks to a fan in Ohio the entertainer’s very first life-size wax figure has debuted in the SouthPark Mall. The sculptor, who goes by the name Mr. Officials, took to social media to reveal the figure. In the video, he revealed this project was a labor of love, saying, “This statue actually took about nine months to create.”
The figure is a nearly perfect replica of the late rapper. The artist nails Hussle’s posture, tattoos, and fashion sense. The wax figure dons Hussle’s signature cornrows, Puma footwear, gold medallion, and Crenshaw graphic tee.
Posed in front the rapper’s The Marathon Continues logo, celebrities jumped into the comment section to share their praise of the piece. Actors Quincy Brown, Skai Jackson, social media star Don Benjamin, and former Los Angeles Clipper Matt Barnes were just a few of the notable names in awe of the wax figure.

His former partner, actress Lauren London, continues to use her platform to inspire residents of his beloved Crenshaw neighborhood to pursue their dreams. London drove this point during her emotional speech at the unveiling of Hussle’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in August. NBA star LeBron James has partnered with film company SpringHill to release a documentary, Hussle, to share an intimate look at the “Racks In The Middle” rapper’s musical impact in West Coast rap, community outreach efforts, and business dealings.

Similar to gin and vodka, blanco tequila is often thought of as either a mixing tequila or as something to imbibe solely in the warmer months. If you want a slow sipper and enjoy aged spirits, you might want to take a step up — into the realm of reposado. For non tequila aficionados, we’re talking about bottles that have matured between two and twelve months in oak barrels.
The term “reposado” translates to “rested” in English and that’s exactly what this tequila is. Not aged for a long time. Simply rested to impart a few extra flavors. Unlike the extended aging of añejo tequila, reposado is still fairly roasted agave-heavy but the limited aging does add flavors like vanilla, oak, and caramel into the mix.
Now, don’t go scrambling trying to find a great reposado just yet (though if that’s your aim — we’ve got you). Instead, let your local bartenders help. We asked a few well-known bartenders and mixologists to tell us their favorite sipping reposado tequilas. Keep scrolling to see them all, then stock up for the holiday gatherings to come.
I’m a sucker for a value agave with a good story. Arette to me is the best choice. It’s owned and produced by a family with a pedigree in tequila production. As a bonus, it’s inexpensive enough to power your rail or well selection.
There are hints of luscious citrus and juicy grass with citrus-like woodinesss.

I’m a fan of Espolon and Cuervo Tradicional if I am reaching for a reposado. I generally use these to make cocktails, and both brands offer a great intersection of quality and price point. If I had to pick one it would be Espolon with its cooked agave, caramel, vanilla, and peppery spiced flavor.

I have quickly fallen in love with Mijenta Reposado tequila. The Reposado does a fantastic job at keeping the quality of the original juice (the blanco), as the barrel does not manipulate those flavors. It only enhances them and intensifies the grassy and pepper notes. The tequila has a robust and oily body which the reposado carries.
It is not overly aggressive with vanilla and oak flavor. It is a compliment to an already complex tequila.

Tequila is certainly having its heyday and the benefit for us is access to a growing variety of tequilas and mezcals showcasing distinct regional styles, much in the same way that we’re seeing distinctions drawn throughout regional rye styles develop as rye’s popularity continues to grow.
Tequila Tromba from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico is a nicely balanced tequila that plays the sweet notes derived from the rich soil of the Jalisco highlands off of the classic citrus and earthy tones tequila is known for.
Corazon Expresiones Elmer T. Lee Reposado. This limited-release tequila normally presents itself as an añejo. Last year, Corazon released a surprise reposado aged in Elmer T. Lee Barrels. The barrel imparts subtle hints of sweet corn and cherry while allowing the cooked agave flavor from the tequila to shine through. It is harmony in a bottle.
Light in color, the way I adore my reposados, this bottle is the most exquisite example of how rested tequila should taste. This line of unique releases is a tequila lover’s dream.
Casa Dragones Reposado

Casa Dragones Joven, a blend of silver and añejo, is a current favorite. I enjoy trying other brands that are independent and innovative in their space. But if I had to specifically pick a reposado, I’d go with Casa Dragones as well. It’s a complex tequila with flavors of bright citrus, pear, vanilla, and roasted tree nuts.
Hiatus Reposado. Slight pepperiness and nuttiness. It’s aged for six months in barrels that previously held American whiskey. It’s mellow, sweet, and filled with roasted agave, cinnamon sugar, vanilla, and oak. It’s a great, warming sipping tequila for the cold days ahead.
Corralejo Reposado

Mijenta Reposado is a great pick, it delivers a fantastic punch of cooked agave with a beautiful mouth feel that truly showcases what real tequila should taste like. But another great choice is Corralejo Reposado with its notes of cooked agave, nutty sweetness, vanilla, and light spices.
Fortaleza Reposado. Their tequila is responsibly made and well crafted, and it’s perfectly warm on the tongue without losing its terroir to the aging process. But if I had to pick a lesser-known reposado tequila I’d go with Siete Leguas Reposado. It’s known for its bold flavors of roasted agave, vanilla, and oak. It’s a great mixer, but also great neat or on the rocks.
New York underground rapper MIKE has been building a name for himself among fans of heady, experimental rap, working alongside other backpack rap faves like Earl Sweatshirt and Freddie Gibbs, with whom he toured earlier this year. After dropping the low-key single “Makeda” earlier this year MIKE returns with a more upbeat single, “Stop Worry!,” which features a guest appearance from dancehall legend Sister Nancy, who is best known for her 1982 hit, “Bam Bam.”
The new single features a loopy, reggae-accented beat, over which MIKE reflects on his rising status in hip-hop (“There’s too much buzz around my name now to stay discreet”) and his resistance to the stylistic change such a shift could warrant (“Too much substance for the faint crowd, don’t know when to keep”). Sister Nancy contributes a verse in which she implores listeners to “wake up” and spits some traditional dancehall ad-libs. In the video, MIKE gets his hair twisted, plays videos, and generally relaxes, feeding into the laid-back vibe of the song and its message.
“Stop Worry!” is set to appear on MIKE’s next album, Beware Of The Monkey, which is due on December 21 and follows up 2021’s Disco!. You can watch the video above and pre-save the album here.
“First of all: This whole story sounds like the setup to one of those jokes that your uncle tells you at dinner,” Noah said. “Like, ‘OK, so a racist billionaire, an anti-semitic rapper, and a white supremacist walk into a bar. And then what happens — hold on, the Black waiter’s coming.’”
But, to Noah, the most shocking part of the story of Trump and his dinner guests is why it shocked anyone at all:

Trump having dinner with Nazis is not outrageous. If he had dinner with vegetables, that would be outrageous. That would be crazy!
Noah then proceeded to act out how one might respond to the hearing that Trump had a side of broccoli with his well-done steak and ketchup versus French fries.

But Noah’s favorite part of the story was Trump’s inevitable distancing himself from the dinner… which occurred at his own home. “Because of this dinner, Trump is taking a lot of flak from all sides,” The Daily Show host explained. “And so in classic Trump style, he sent out a few posts about why — as per usual — he isn’t to blame for anything that he did.”
Trump’s main line of defense was that Fuentes was a guest of Ye’s, and that he had no idea who he was. Which Noah might buy. “In Trump’s defense, how would he know that the guy Kanye rolls with could be a white supremacist? I mean, I get what he’s saying. He’s like: ‘I just wanted to have dinner with this anti-Semite. I didn’t know he was gonna bring a friend.’”

To find these mixable gems, we once again turned to the professionals who bide their time behind the bar. We asked a handful of well-known mixologists and barkeeps to tell us the best mixing bourbons on the market. Keep reading to see them all.
I love Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon. Balcones is the perfect whisky for this Old Fashioned because it’s rich, spicy, and viscous on its own and has bold flavors of sweet cream, and sandalwood. The candied pecans blend perfectly with the other ingredients and shine through the drink. The praline syrup has a nice sweetness and buttery, nutty flavor, and Giffard’s Banane du Bresil adds caramelized tropical notes. The Angostura Cocoa Bitters add depth to the cocktail and complement the new charred oak and graham cracker nose of the Pot Still Bourbon.
It’s a perfectly balanced cocktail that showcases one of my favorite bourbons.
Tasting Notes:
Complex flavors of candied apples, graham crackers, candied pecans, vanilla beans, buttery toffee, and rich oak make this a highly mixable whiskey.
Michter’s US-1 Bourbon

Michter’s bourbon is an incredible mixing bourbon because it is not overbearing but delivers enough of a nutty and oak finish to make a drink more complex.
Tasting Notes:
This is a complex whisky. It features rich caramel with balanced vanilla hints helping this bourbon pair well with almost any mixer.
Maker’s Mark mixes well with other flavors because it does not have that overpowering start to it. It allows you to take in the flavors of the mixer before the bourbon (it almost stages the palate). Maker’s Mark in an old fashioned is my favorite.
Tasting Notes:
This beloved bourbon is known for its flavors of clover honey, candied orange peels, butterscotch, vanilla beans, and light peppery spice.
I would say Larceny Bourbon pairs well with whatever your choice of mixer is. It’s not overpowering but you can still get that smooth bourbon finish. As a bonus, it’s surprisingly well-priced at less than $40 in most places.
Tasting Notes:
I like that Larceny is a wheated bourbon, making it surprisingly mellow and soft with hints of spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.
It’s super hard to have a definite and set mixing bourbon. Each bourbon has a place in a mixed cocktail. They all have that one thing that makes them the best mixing bourbon in their individual applications. If I had to say one, though, I’d go with Eagle Rare 10. What drinks does it work well in? It works in everything from a peach sour to a Sazerac. But for the holidays, eggnogs, hot toddies, ciders.
Tasting Notes:
I chose Eagle rare for three reasons. Those being that it’s generally balanced between its caramel and oak notes, its proof falls under the $100 mark making it approachable with other ingredients, and its price point isn’t through the roof, so I don’t feel bad about mixing it.
The best mixing bourbon would have to be Angel’s Envy. I personally find it to work best in an old fashioned. Gives you a very nice and balanced cocktail. There’s a reason this is such a popular, value bourbon. It has everything bourbon cocktails need.
Tasting Notes:
It has notes of vanilla, maple syrup, and toasted nuts which compliments any citrus that is added to an Old Fashioned, whether it be orange or lemon oils.
Barrell Armida

Barrell has an interesting product called Armida that has nice pear notes to it. The bourbon is also cask strength, so it really stands up to other flavors when mixed into a cocktail. The liquor is solid in a Sazerac with a touch of pear eau-du-vie and cardamom bitters.
Tasting Notes:
This complex bourbon is highlighted by baking spices, dried fruits, molasses, honey, vanilla, and oaky wood.
Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon

I am partial to Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon when mixing cocktails. I tend to lean towards a high rye bourbon for the complexity it brings to the flavor and a higher proof spirit for its durability when mixing cocktails. This bourbon has a healthy balance of both elements. It really makes a delightful old fashioned but, since we are close to Christmas, I have been using it in my egg nogs.
Tasting Notes:
This popular bourbon starts with dried fruits and light baking spices and moves on to classic caramel, vanilla, and oak.
Elijah Craig Small Batch – This is the quintessential reasonably priced bourbon. When I think of bourbon, I think of Elijah Craig. At 94 proof, it’s strong enough to hold its own in an Old Fashioned, but its balanced profile and a hint of sweetness also shine in something more adventurous like a New York Sour.
Tasting Notes:
It’s oak, vanilla, caramel, and a hint of corn sweetness. It’s right down the middle in the best way.
Four Roses Straight Bourbon

For mixing bourbon, I go back and forth between Four Roses Straight and Bulleit. If I had to only pick one, it would be Four Roses Yellow Label. I like it more if I’m making a less liquor-forward drink, for example, we use it in our California Lemonade because it goes very well with the citrus and blends well with bold flavors.
I also love it in whiskey sours.
Tasting Notes:
This budget bourbon is still surprisingly flavorful with notes of honey, toffee, vanilla, dried fruits, and oaky wood.
After months of anticipation, Netflix has finally unveiled the first teaser for The ’90s Show, and man, Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) haven’t aged a day. The ’70s Show spinoff catches up with the classic Forman couple who now have to wrangle a new generation of youngsters funneling into their basement thanks to granddaughter Leia (Callie Haverda).
While the teaser catches up with the always welcoming Kitty and a not-so-welcoming Red, who’s visibly hating every minute of dealing with more teens, the original cast is nowhere to be seen yet. However, everyone (with the obvious exception of Danny Masterson and the late Lisa Robin Kelly) are locked in for the spinoff and will presumably appear in the full trailer.
In the meantime, Netflix has finally given fans a release date for That ’90s Show, and they don’t have that long of a wait. The show will start streaming on January 19, confirming previous reports of a late 2022/early 2023 premiere.

It’s 1995 and Leia Forman is desperate for some adventure in her life or at least a best friend who isn’t her dad. When she arrives in Point Place to visit her grandparents, Red and Kitty, Leia finds what she’s looking for right next door when she meets the dynamic and rebellious Gwen. There have been a handful of strange trends to come from TikTok. Some of them are basically harmless, like all of those elaborate coffee hacks or even that family of chinchillas who like to hold tiny items. And other trends seem to be a little bit more involved, and slightly more controversial.
The latest trend seems to be users enlisting one woman to conduct a “loyalty test” on their boyfriends, seemingly instead of having open and honest communication, which is hard! When you don’t know what to do, turn to TikTok, and somebody will be there to explain it to you over and over and over until it effectively becomes a Thing.
TikTok user Chasity Soules has courageously decided to offer up loyalty tests to anyone who asks. You might think that going around your significant other’s back to trick them is slightly unappealing, and you might be right! But Soules has done over 50 of these tests and there is no sign of slowing down, so the people are clearly interested….for better or worse.
In order to “test” subjects, Soules encourages disgruntled ladies in relationships to reach out to her and she will message their significant other to see if they are “loyal.” Sometimes they are and end up blocking her account. Other instances are not so great.
Soules seems to do this to help “empower” women in relationships, though many in her comments don’t agree. Still, her videos go viral enough that one day, the men are probably going to start catching on and it might even turn into a reverse catfish situation. That would be different!
With only two episodes of The White Lotus season two left, let’s take a moment to check in and see how the main characters are doing. Dominic (Michael Imperioli) is worried about his son, Albie (Adam DiMarco), who’s falling for the same escort, Lucia (Simona Tabasco), that he slept with. Cameron (Theo James) is being creepy to Harper (Aubrey Plaza), who doesn’t trust her husband, Ethan (Will Sharpe), after she found a condom in their bedroom — a condom that Cameron used while having sex with Lucia. Meanwhile, Portia (Haley Lu Richardson) is falling for a rowdy English boy, Jack (Leo Woodall), who was caught by Portia’s boss, Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), having sex with the man introduced as his uncle, Quentin (Tom Hollander). So, yeah, everyone is horny and miserable — and things will only get more miserable once people start dying.
There are a lot of theories about the identity of the floating corpse that Daphne (Meghann Fahy) encounters while going for a swim in the season two premiere. But another, possibly related theory is gaining popularity among fans of the HBO series.
Remember Greg (Jon Gries)? Tanya’s husband? He hasn’t been seen since episode three, when he tells Tanya that he has to cut their vacation short because he has a work thing in Denver that he needs to take care of. He claims he’ll be back in two days, but Tanya overhears him talking to someone on the phone. “Yeah, she’s clueless as usual,” he says. “I’ll be home tomorrow.” He even says “I love you” to the mystery caller. Tanya is verklempt after Greg leaves — until she meets the “high-end gays,” led by Greg, who after a day spent drinking and gossiping, invites her to a fancy palazzo in Palermo.
It’s important to remember something Cam said earlier in the season: “These European aristocrats, they have no money. Like, I sh*t you not. They have all these palazzos, and they got no cash.” Cameron might be a douche (OK, he’s for sure a douche), but he’s on to something here. Think about it: Jack, who travels with Quentin & Co., dines and dashes with Portia, partially for the thrill of it, but also maybe because he doesn’t have any money? Could the high-end gays be scamming Tanya? And — to go full Pepe Silvia — is Greg involved? Y’know, Denver isn’t far from Montana, where Quentin tells Tanya he fell in love with an American cowboy. It would also explain why Greg was so upset about Portia being there during the Sicily trip (or maybe he just didn’t want someone who wasn’t his wife around on a romantic trip, which would be understandable).
Maybe Tanya’s premonition wasn’t because of the Bonine she took before the flight:
