Carlos Rivera Looks Back On A Year Of Romance And Memories In His ‘Un Viaje A Todas Partes’ Video

Carlos Rivera continues to serenade the world with his beautiful love songs. On Friday (November 25), the Mexican pop heartthrob released the music video for his new single “Un Viaje A Todas Partes.”

Since winning the reality TV competition La Academia in 2004, Rivera has become one of Mexico’s biggest pop stars. In 2017, he was tapped to sing the Spanish version of the theme song “Remember Me” from Disney’s Coco movie. In 2020, Rivera teamed up with Becky G and Pedro Capó for the playful “Perdiendo la Cabeza.” Later that year, he brought Maluma into the world of Mexican ranchera music with their duet “100 Años.”

This past year, Rivera has teased his next album with songs that could be inspired by his recent marriage to Cynthia Rodríguez. In September, he released “Digan Lo Que Digan,” an ode to a romance that prevails over any difficulties and naysayers. The ballad about championing love doubled as an anthem for his fans in the LGBTQ+ community. Rivera also dropped “Te Soñé,” a song that he wrote in honor of his home state Tlaxcala, featuring Carlos Vives.

“The lyrics in each one of my songs have everything from my own life, but they seek to identify with the everyday stories of my fans,” Rivera said in a statement. “That is where my music has found its place, in the hearts of the people.”

Rivera released an acoustic version of his “Un Viaje A Todas Partes.” In the soulful ballad, Rivera sings about looking back on the past year of all the sweet memories that he’s shared with a loved one. His soaring voice captures the power of love in his heartfelt message. With 2022 nearing its end, Rivera’s recollective love anthem arrives right on time.

Rivera’s next album is due out sometime in 2023. He is currently touring Mexico with his Gira de Palenques 2022 trek.

Bobby Shmurda And NBA YoungBoy Exchange Threats On Instagram Over Leaked DMs

Well, this is disappointing. Despite both men narrowly avoiding spending the bulk of their respective adulthoods in prison, Bobby Shmurda and YoungBoy Never Broke Again have apparently decided that beefing on Instagram is more important than getting money and staying out of trouble. As usual, a bunch of accounts on Twitter have saved the back-and-forth exchange, which as usual, seems to have started over ego and ignorance.

The trouble apparently started when Smurda apparently requested a feature from the younger artist. After YoungBoy apparently rebuffed the request, he posted a screenshot of the Instagram DM conversation to his Instagram grid, mocking Bobby for even reaching out in the first place. Naturally, Shmurda was unhappy about the way the Baton Rouge rapper handled the situation, launching a long tirade on Instagram Live, threatening to “boom” a variety of foes “on camera,” including gossip blogger DJ Akademiks (who, ironically, reposted the video on his Twitter), controversial rap manager Wack 100, and YoungBoy, who naturally responded with some threats of his own. Check out the videos below.

Obviously, all of this becomes a problem when you consider that Bobby is only two years out from a six-year sentence for racketeering, gun possession, and violent acts, while YoungBoy has spent the better part of the year on house arrest while fighting gun charges. Although he was able to slide on those charges, he’s got other, federal charges as well yet to go to trial. This is the sort of thing that prosecutors are usually itching to use as evidence to keep rappers locked up; see: Gunna and Young Thug.

So, let’s hope these two can hash out whatever issues they have with each other without resorting to carrying out all these violent threats. Too many entertainers are already stuck behind bars for this nonsense as it is.

How Much Money Did Megan Thee Stallion Make In 2022?

You can’t keep a good stallion down.

While 2022 has been a very tumultuous year for Megan Thee Stallion, the money continues to roll in. Forbes estimates that the Texas rapper made around $13 million this year and has no plans on slowing down. She amassed her millions with the help of various successful business ventures — from royalties and ticket sales to endorsements and merch.

“I’ll take a break when I’m dead,” she told Forbes. “I’m trying to really build something.” The rapper noted that she doesn’t like being idle for too long and doesn’t want to give anyone a chance to take her spot.

The “Body” rapper continues to garner billion-dollar brand deals where ever she goes. She’s collaborated with Nike, Revlon, Cash App, and Popeyes. Her Superbowl ad with Cheetos was worth an estimated $2 million alone, according to Forbes.

When offering her endorsement, Megan likes to keep it real; if it’s not genuine, she’s not interested. “I cannot fake it,” she said. “If I’m not naturally into it, I don’t want to sell it.”

But the journey to her millions has not been easy — along the way, Megan lost her mother to brain cancer in 2019. In the summer of 2020, she was allegedly shot by Tory Lanez and was met with harsh criticism from social media trolls. She’s also drawn criticism for her provocative style from politicians and industry heavyweights.

On the business side, Megan is in a nasty battle with her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, which she has sued for $1 million in a royalty dispute. Recently, the rapper was granted a retaining order against 1501.

Despite all this, 2023 is shaping up to be a good year for the rapper — from a new tour and album to working with Netflix to produce several new shows and even working with Time Inc. to produce a documentary on her life.

Chuu Broke Her Silence On Being ‘Expelled’ As LOONA Members Reportedly Look To Suspend Their Contracts

In a whirlwind of headlines and breakout stories within the past couple of days in the K-pop sphere, the names “Chuu,” “LOONA,” and “BlockBerry Creative” have been thrown around, topping trends internationally and domestically on socials.

After the news broke out last week of BlockBerry Creative expelling member Chuu of LOONA, with claims of being abusive and having a power trip against label staff (with no evidence), people in the Korean entertainment industry, as well as staff who’ve worked alongside the young Korean artist, and netizens, have all spoken up against the outrageous accusations made by the label. LOONA member Hyunjin also went out of her way to express her anger toward the news on the fan-messaging app Fab. Now, Chuu herself has spoken up for the first time since the news broke out, and it seems like the rest of LOONA may be responding behind closed doors, according to a recent report.

In a recent Instagram Story post today (November 28), Chuu finally broke her silence on the matter concerning her expulsion from LOONA and the accusations regarding her power trip. In a translation provided by allkpop, Chuu’s message reads:

“Hello, this is Chuu. I am so grateful for so many people’s concern and comfort.

I have not been contacted or know anything about this series of circumstances. I am aware of the situation, and it is clear that I have not done anything to embarrass the fans.

I will talk to you again in the future once my position [on this matter] is decided.

Thank you so much for giving me your concern and trust.”

In addition, JTBC’s Entertainment News reported today saying nine of the now 11 members of LOONA, excluding Hyunjin and Vivi, are working on suspending their contracts with BlockBerry Creative. Members HeeJin, HaSeul, YeoJin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, Choerry, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye have filed injunctions after claiming trust has been broken with their label, making future activities, schedules, and promotions difficult for the group to move on.

According to the report, BlockBerry Creative responded by saying the report is not true.

Howard Stern Thinks It’s ‘F*cking Wild’ That Oprah Isn’t ‘Embarrassed’ By Her Wealth And Shows It Off On Social Media

Howard Stern took some time off from trashing Herschel Walker and “dumb motherf*cker” Trump supporters to pick a fight with… Oprah Winfrey? On Monday’s episode of The Howard Stern Show, the King of All Media came after the Queen for flaunting her wealth on social media.

“Oprah’s not embarrassed by her wealth at all,” Stern said. “She loves showing it off on Instagram. It’s f*cking mind blowing you when you follow her on Instagram, you see her estates, her gardens, the people who service her and you know…” He was cut off by co-host Robin Quivers, who joked, “Service her? She’s not a car.” Oprah “kind of is,” Stern countered. “She’s got servants and, like, people cooking and it’s f*cking wild. She knows how to be rich… She kind of likes to show it off, which is something I’m not comfortable with. I don’t think that people should show off their wealth.”

Quivers made the point that Winfrey isn’t showing off, she’s “just showing you her life,” but Stern isn’t convinced. “Well you gotta be a little self-aware and know that there are people struggling out there, Robin. You got to,” he said. “You gotta kind of think about people who don’t have — to eat. You know what I’m saying? I mean, come on. You gotta be a little bit aware of this sh*t.” Here’s more, via Mediaite:

Stern turned the discussion to Winfrey inviting students from her South African school, The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy For Girls, to her home each year for Thanksgiving, which she shared on Instagram. “Every Thanksgiving she welcomes the African gals at her — at her boarding school in Africa for like girls, I guess whose parents abandon them. And she takes them in and they call her like ‘Mama’ or with something like, ‘Mommy.’ And all the African women come up to her estate and they start singing,” Stern said as he began to sing the opening notes to “Circle of Life” from The Lion King.

I’m all for calling out and/or eating the rich (even if you’re worth a reported $650 million), but it’s weird to criticize Oprah for welcoming students from a boarding school to her house. But it’s even weirder to bring up Africa and then start singing “Circle of Life.” Maybe stay out of this one, Howard, and go back to slamming “narcissist” Johnny Depp.

The Rock Claims That Warner Bros. ‘Inexplicably And Inexcusably’ Fought Against Bringing Henry Cavill Back As Superman

In one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood, Henry Cavill made his triumphant return as Superman in an explosive end credits scene for Black Adam. Within days of the film’s release, Cavill took to Instagram and confirmed that he will be starring in more projects as the Man of Steel. It was a triumphant moment for fans and The Rock, who has been aggressively pushing for a future smackdown between his Black Adam character and Cavill’s Superman. However, it wasn’t an easy road.

In a new Twitter video, The Rock has revealed that before Black Adam could trade blows with Superman, he had to fight an even bigger opponent first: the studio. In the surprisingly candid message to fans (that could easily be read as a flex), The Rock opened up about the resistance at Warner Bros. when his team tried to orchestrate Cavill’s return.

According to The Rock, he wanted to establish Black Adam as “the most powerful, unstoppable force in the DC universe” by pitting him against Superman, specifically Cavill’s version of the character. But Warner Bros. “inexplicably and inexcusably” did not want to bring the actor back. Via Deadline:

“This has been years in the making regarding bringing Henry Cavill back and years of strategic conversations and we were not going to take no for an answer,” he added. “There was no way, there’s no viable logical way that you can attempt to build out the DC Universe without the most powerful force and the greatest superhero of all time sitting on the sidelines. It’s impossible to do.”

Ultimately, The Rock prevailed and he’s clearly not about to back down from championing Cavill’s Man of Steel. Just check out this spicy take.

“Henry Cavill is our generation’s Superman and in my opinion, the greatest Superman,” The Rock said. “And I mean that respectfully to the other actors, especially Christopher Reeve, but the greatest Superman of all time.”

Indiecast Examines The Legacy Of The Elephant 6 Record Label

The holidays are here, meaning it’s not only time to tune out holiday music in every store but it’s also time to chill out, lay on your couch, and binge-watch movies. This week on Indiecast, hosts Steven Hyden and Ian Cohen share their recommendations for the best music documentaries to check out (or to put on in the background while decorating your Christmas tree). Plus, they look back on iconic record label The Elephant 6, which was a home for bands like Neutral Milk Hotel and The Olivia Tremor Control.

In terms of banter this week, Indiecast talks Twitter’s still-uncertain future and how difficult it would be to hash out trends if the platform shut down completely. They also imagine the kind of music they’d play if they had a college radio show (hint: it’d be pretty similar to Indiecast).

The Recommendation Corner this week has Ian shouting out Drowse’s Wane Into It, which is a mix of slowcore-country combined with Mount Eerie. Steven shouts out Weyes Blood’s latest album And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow.

Red Velvet Brings Back ‘The ReVe Festival’ Festivities With ‘Birthday’

If there’s something to pin point what 2022 was all about in K-pop, it’s how girl groups dominated most of it. Whether you were a newly debuted girl group, or reuniting, or just coming back with new music, the girlies came through. And if you remember our list of November comebacks and releases, a good number of them mentioned female acts, Red Velvet being one of them.

Initially introducing The ReVe Festival series in 2019, SM Entertainment’s third-generation queens brings back The ReVe Festival festivities with their newest single “Birthday” today. Conveying the whimsical and fantasy themes in their music video, Red Velvet’s newest release is meant to bring the good vibes to whoever’s celebrating their special day. Delivering a song that can be quite reminiscent to past releases, it’s as if “Birthday” was also meant to celebrate Red Velvet’s past hits as slight references to hits like “Dumb Dumb” and “Ice Cream Cake” were made in the lyrics.

“Birthday” is the lead single off of Red Velvet’s sixth EP, The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday. The song samples George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and contains the message of confidently confessing feelings to the person they like and also help their birthday wishes and celebrations come true.

According to a report from Soompi and Naver, the girl group achieved their highest number of stock pre-orders with 712,187 units just the day before the release.

Check out the full tracklist to The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday below.

1. “Birthday”
2. “BYE BYE”
3. “롤러코스터 (On A Ride)”

Doja Cat Has ‘Never Felt More Beautiful’ Than She Does After Shaving Her Head, Despite Her First Impression

Doja Cat’s shaved head has drawn a variety of responses from praise to confusion, but despite some early misgivings, she says her new look has made her feel “more beautiful” than ever. In a new cover story in Dazed, Doja says that after cutting off all her hair she felt that she looked like a “wrinkly penis” and “had an exposed brain,” but that upon getting used to the radical change, she loved it — and herself.

“I have never felt more beautiful in my entire life, which is very strange,” she said. “I felt beautiful when I had long hair. I definitely felt like a hot girl then, but I always do. There’s something so exhilarating about change; (it) showed me a different side of myself. I feel so new, fresh, and sexy. I also feel better without make-up: having this bare head and so little make-up is a fun experience. It’s new, and I love it.”

She also addressed some of the criticisms from fans about her occasional outbursts on social media. “They’re like, ‘Oh, this can’t possibly be her simply having fun,’” she observed. “She has to be out of her mind. She has to be cuckoo. Also, I have really bad impulse control; I like to react to things really quick. If I’m in the right mood or the wrong mood, I will snap back and I’ll have fun doing it. It makes me feel better or it doesn’t, because then the reaction I get back is tenfold and I’m like, ‘Uh-oh, I made a mistake.’”

And for those fans wondering about her new music, she offered this: “I have a project that’s going to be quite consistent, hopefully, which is coming up next and is the real album, the real project. But before that, I would like to put out some singles that don’t really connect to it in any way. They’re just fun things that I would like to put out.”

When Will Spotify Wrapped 2022 Come Out?

Over the past few years, Spotify has created a sort of unofficial cultural/social media holiday with the annual release of Spotify Wrapped. For the unfamiliar, Wrapped is a feature that allows Spotify users to see some data about their listening habits over the past year, including the songs and artists they played the most.

Now, it looks like this year’s Wrapped is coming soon: Spotify first teased the 2022 Wrapped on October 13, while the #SpotifyWrapped “hashflag” (the custom icon that accompanies select Twitter hashtags) launched today, November 28. As for exactly when Wrapped data will be unveiled to Spotify listeners, that hasn’t been officially confirmed, but a safe bet would be on or around December 1, since that’s when Wrapped went live in both 2021 and 2020.

When it comes to what period of listening activity is covered by Wrapped data, it’s not actually a whole year. According to Newsweek, only data from January 1 to October 31 is used, with Brendan Codey, associate director for Creator Growth and Programs at Spotify, explaining in 2021, “The reason we have this hard cut-off is just for the sake of campaign logistics. We need to QA the site and we need to finalize assets for Wrapped, all of which takes a while. You throw Thanksgiving into the mix as well and we have even less time.”
