The nominees for the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs) were announced last week on October 13th. The Artist Of The Year field features the biggest stars in the world in Adele, Drake, Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé. But it’s Bad Bunny who made history with his eight overall nominations, the most ever for a Latin artist and the most of any artist at the 2022 AMAs. So when and where will we find out who the big winners are?
When Are The 2022 American Music Awards?
The 2022 American Music Awards will take place on November 20th at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on No. Part of the L.A. Live entertainment complex, the Microsoft Theater will be the center of the music world at 8pm eastern. And while Cardi B hosted the 2021 AMAs, a host has yet to be announced for the 2022 American Music Awards.
Along with Bad Bunny’s eight nominations, Drake, Taylor Swift, and Drake are each up for six awards. Keep an eye on the New Artist Of The Year category, which features five surging nominees in Latto, Steve Lacy, Gayle, Maneskin, and Dove Cameron.
Fans can vote for their favorite acts via Twitter or on VoteAMAs.com. The 2022 American Music Awards show will be broadcast live on ABC on Sunday, November 20 at 8 p.m. EST and on a tape delay at 9pm PST.
Some of the artists mentioned here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
The 65th Grammy Awards ceremony is coming to Los Angeles’ Crpto.com arena on February 5th, 2023. The Recording Academy is currently going through the first step in the voting process to narrow down the nominees for major awards like Album Of The Year and Best New Artist, as well as new awards like Songwriter Of The Year and Best Video Game Soundtrack. But the Recording Academy won’t announce the nominations for the 65th Grammy Awards right away.
When Will The 2023 Grammy Nominations Be Announced?
The first round of voting for the 65th Grammys Awards began on October 13th and will continue until October 25th. The first round will determine who the shortlist of nominees for each award are. Once that first round of voting is tabulated, the official nominations for the 2023 Grammys will be announced on November 15th.
In order to be eligible for a 2023 Grammy nomination, music has to have been released between October 1st, 2021 and September 30, 2022. Last year’s big winner, Silk Sonic, actually withdrew their album, An Evening With Silk Sonic, from consideration this year. So the major awards field is even more wide open for artists we think can take home some major Grammys hardware like Harry Styles, Adele, Post Malone, and Florence And The Machines.
The 65th annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS and be available for streaming on Paramount+.
So, provided Posty doesn’t completely mangle his whole body before he gets to the final show in Los Angeles in November, what are the songs he’ll be performing? According to Setlist.fm, show is suitably massive for an arena show, full of hits like “Better Now,” “Circles,” “Congratulations,” “Rockstar,” “Sunflower,” and, of course, the song that started it all, “White Iverson.” By all accounts — or at least, by that of Uproxx’s own Adrian Spinelli — the show is “endearing and pure,” and a helluva good time.

Over its four seasons and counting, The Crown has proven to be one of Netflix’s most watched and most talked about series. But not everyone is a fan. Among its detractors is the Royal Family itself, who have been the opposite of chuffed, especially as the show has gotten to the Diana years. (Her tragic death won’t be covered until the sixth season.) But it also has a non-Royal hater in Dame Judi Dench.
The Oscar-winning actress and stage and screen legend penned a blistering op-ed in The Times UK, arguing that its version of the truth is so far from the real thing that Netflix should have a disclaimer.
“The closer the drama comes to our present times, the more freely it seems willing to blur the lines between historical accuracy and crude sensationalism,” Dench wrote.
“Given some of the wounding suggestions apparently contained in the new series — that King Charles plotted for his mother to abdicate, for example, or once suggested his mother’s parenting was so deficient that she might have deserved a jail sentence — this is both cruelly unjust to the individuals and damaging to the institution they represent,” Dench continued. “No one is a greater believer in artistic freedom than I, but this cannot go unchallenged.”
Dench noted that the show has always been advertised as a “fictionalized drama,” but also pointed out that Netflix has resisted airing a disclaimer message. “The time has come for Netflix to reconsider — for the sake of a family and a nation so recently bereaved, as a mark of respect to a sovereign who served her people so dutifully for 70 years, and to preserve their own reputation in the eyes of their British subscribers,” she wrote.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, The Crown put filming of Season 6 on pause, partly out of respect for the people who by and large don’t like the show’s lackadaisical approach to history. Indeed, Prince William reportedly raised a big stink over a Season 5 scene that depicted the BBC interview with Diana that led to then-Prince Charles’ affair with Camilla. Former PM John Majors also lashed out over its suggestion that Charles was nonplussed that his mom was still hanging onto the throne in the 1990s.
The Phillies and Padres met in Game 2 of the NLCS on Wednesday afternoon in San Diego on a gorgeous day that was a bit too perfect for those in the field.
The cloudless sky provided no help against the sun and every fly ball turned into an adventure, with the Phillies becoming the beneficiaries in the second inning as they piled up three runs on nothing but singles, continuing their run of incredible luck this postseason (or, for the other team, infuriating luck). After getting runners on second and third thanks to a throwing error on the first RBI single of the inning, Matt Vierling hit a fly ball to right field that Juan Soto tracked to the warning track until, suddenly, he lost it in the sun and could only duck and turn away as it almost hit him.
Oh man… Juan Soto loses it in the sun and the Phillies score another run
Somewhat luckily for the Padres this was only a one-run error in the immediate because it was a tagging situation, so the runner on second didn’t also score, but both he and Vierling would eventually score on a bloop single and an error by the first baseman, making it a 4-0 ball game.
As John Smoltz explained on the broadcast, there was nothing for Soto really to do because the angle on the ball was impossible to get around and avoid the sun, but it is just horrific luck for the Padres who could’ve been one out away from getting out of the inning and, at the very least, should’ve escaped at a 3-0 deficit.
There’s something to be said about music that’s often described as “autumnal.” It’s peaceful, nostalgia-inducing, and evokes the coziness of a chilly day. That’s exactly the kind of sound you can expect to hear on The Backseat Lovers’ upcoming sophomore album Willing To Spill.
The Utah-based band’s new album was born out of emotional turmoil. After a lyric appeared in his head that set the scene for a new track, vocalist/guitarist Joshua Harmon knew he had a goal in mind for the band’s sophomore effort: to be as honest as possible. And that’s exactly what they managed to do on Willing To Spill by crafting 10 contemplative numbers that are both confessional and bold. “I think we definitely pushed the boundaries and tested our limits with this album,” says bassist KJ Ward. “We grew a lot, as band members and as individuals. It’s a very personal album, and in the studio, there was a lot of open dialogue and deep conversation.”
Ahead of the release of their upcoming album Waiting To Spill, Uproxx sat down with The Backseat Lovers to talk Andy Shauf, Tom Selleck, and not growing out your mustache until you actually can in our latest Q&A.

Who’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter and/or Instagram?
Elon Musk may or may not be buying Twitter, but if his version of the social media service is anything like his cars, we may be in trouble. Case in point: Glenn Howerton, of A.P. Bio and long one of the stars of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia recently revealed that he had a doozy of a time with his Tesla. What was the problem? He couldn’t get in.
As caught by Insider, Howerton recently told his horrifying Tesla story on The Always Sunny Podcast. Last weekend, he found himself locked out of his car because the key fob broke. But his Plan B didn’t work either. In case of issues with the key fob, owners can always turn to the app. But Howerton was in the bottom floor of a parking garage, where he was unable to connect to WiFi. (Tesla introduced its keyless entry system in 2017.)
His Plan C — replace the key fob battery — didn’t work either.
Howerton was forced to leave the car in the garage overnight. It took him till the next day to discover he could simply place the fob on a designated area of the car. He was able to get in, but he still wasn’t able to start the car, as his fob was mysteriously not “talking” with his vehicle.
Customer service didn’t help either. “I had a very difficult time getting through to any of these people,” he said. He eventually decided to call Tesla’s sales department, and was soon being tossed between two different departments. But that wasn’t easy either. “We’d get to the end of the call and they’d go: ‘I guess there’s nothing we can do,’” Howerton said. “And I was like: ‘What do you mean there’s nothing you can do?’”
Eventually, he was able to get the car towed. Since then he’s been able to drive it using the app, though that means avoiding areas without WiFi, on the off-chance that his Tesla won’t work.
“I was like, ‘You guys lost a customer today. I’ve been a Tesla customer for 10 years,’” Howerton recalls telling one of the Tesla staffers.
Tesla headaches are so prevalent they’ve become their own genre of news coverage. Who can forget the Finnish gentleman from last year who, faced with an astronomical repair fee, simply blew his car up? Meanwhile, the company’s owner is busy deleting Kanye tweets and threatening the world with a ‘friendly’ robot.
You can watch Howerton’s podcast appearance in the video below.
One of the better songs on JID’s third studio album, The Forever Story, gets a suitably twitchy music video. In “Bruddanem/Crack Sandwich,” JID reminisces about his wild days growing up with a family that did everything together — including getting in wild brawls in the street. The video contrasts the narrative JID relays in the song with another, anxious vignette in which a group of friends find their trap house raided by a SWAT team as they reflect on better, more optimistic alternatives.
JID, who is gearing up to go on tour with Smino in 2023, has put the spotlight squarely on his family and the social pressures that shaped them during the rollout for The Forever Story. While it’s the most obvious in the video for “Kody Blu 31,” which was partly inspired by his grandmother’s funeral, the social commentary threaded through the clips for “Dance Now” and “Money” tangientally touch on the survival situations he and his rambunctious siblings faced growing up in Atlanta.
His life now is a far cry from those rough-and-tumble days. Now he’s collaborating with Little Dragon and playing NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, living up to his star potential and making his family proud.

In a, uh, touching moment for the “Party of Family Values,” a Republican candidate in Arizona was reportedly arrested for masturbating outside of a preschool. Randy Gene Kaufman, who’s running for a seat on the Maricopa County Community College District Governing Board, was allegedly caught in the act by a police officer.
According to the officer’s report, Kaufman was parked across the street from a child care center. Kaufman had reportedly covered the windshield with a shade screen, which the officer found suspicious and went over to investigate. To his surprise, he caught Kaufman in the act, and the GOP candidate confirmed that, yes, he was masturbating inside of his vehicle because “I’m really stressed.”
Kaufman claimed he didn’t realize his proximity to the the preschool, but he did realize the severity of his situation when the officer pointed it out to him. Via Law & Crime:
Officer: “What kind of porn were you watching?”
[Kaufman]: “Interracial porn.”
Officer: “When you look around here what do you see?”
[Kaufman]: “The child center but I didn’t notice it until you came up and I got out of my truck. Are you going to put that in a report?”
Officer: “Don’t you see how alarming that is? That there are children nearby, people passing on bikes and In cars where they can look and see what you are doing?”
[Kaufman]: “I f*cked up.”
According to Law & Crime, the Trump-supporting Kaufman became active in politics because of COVID, and his Facebook page is filled with attacks on “baby killing leftists” that seem particularly contradictory in light of his alleged crime.
“Nothing is more important than standing against the Godless/ progressive/ left-wing/ socialist/ marxist/ communist/ Democrat Party Movement to destroy America,” Kaufman posted in July of this year along with subsequent anti-abortion and pro-gun rants.
The future of The Daily Show might be in flux but its original host, Jon Stewart, is still out here delivering hot takes when we need them most. His latest targets? Former president Donald Trump and prolific rapper who just can’t keep his mouth shut, Kanye West.
Stewart used the opening minutes of his podcast — which serves as a companion piece to his talk show, Apple TV+’s The Problem with Jon Stewart — to tackle some of the vile antisemitism on display by both men recently. Trump obviously has a long history of attacking Jewish people, but his most recent comments warning U.S. Jews that they should “get their act together and appreciate what they have in Israel — Before it is too late!” really riled Stewart this week.
“[It’s] one of the most explicit expressions of just pure ‘Jews have only loyalty to Israel,’” Stewart said on his show. “I don’t know that it even made the top 10 antisemitic bullsh*t of the week! In fact, the word antisemitic doesn’t even carry it anymore. It’s just weird Jew paranoia bullsh*t. It’s mind-blowing to me how easily it flows from people’s mouths and everybody’s just like, ‘Wow, that was weird.’”
Stewart then went on to address Kanye West’s latest media meltdown. The rapper ranted on social media about Jews controlling Diddy’s career before threatening to go “death con 3” on Jewish people. (We assume he meant DEFCON.) Twitter suspended West and removed the Tweet in which West wrote, “The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew. Also You guys have toyed with me and tried to blackball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”
West also claimed that Disney was a “Jewish platform.”
“Boy, he really doesn’t know the history of Disney, does he?” Stewart joked on the podcast. “If you are Jewish, then you’re part of the Jewish mafia. But if you’re not, then you’re just a guy who’s a dick to him in business. But if you’re a Jewish guy who’s a dick to him in business, then it’s part of the cabal.”
Stewart also laid into West for blaming Jewish people for his current string of professional and personal problems saying, “You’re a billionaire who was married to the Kardashians. How bad have we been f*cking you?”
He then addressed an issue some critics have brought up when discussing West’s bigoted outbursts. It’s well-known that the rapper suffers from mental health issues, but Stewart made the case that no drug can cure a person of antisemitism.
“I don’t know what drug you could get that could make you not believe there’s a cabal of Jews controlling the flow of information from your mouth to the public,” he said before joking, “Jew-alax?”
