Trevor Noah Was Shocked — And Very Amused — Hearing Nancy Pelosi Discuss The Jan 6th Rioters ‘Poo-Pooing’ All Over The Floors Of The Capitol

If you’ve ever secretly imagined that, behind closed doors, Nancy Pelosi swears like a truck driver, we’ve got some disappointing news. On Thursday, the January 6th Committee held its latest public hearing, in which they showed some truly remarkable and never-before-seen footage of what top Democratic leaders like Pelosi were doing while insurrectionists ravaged the Capitol. As Trevor Noah pointed out, they were talking an awful lot about fecal matter.

Noah was pretty impressed with how “while Trump’s mob was outside asking to have an intimate conversation with Mike Pence’s neck,” Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer “were keeping their cool and trying to get stuff done.” The new footage shows the two of them hitting their phones in an attempt to get more help and enlist the National Guard. “But one of the craziest moments,” according to the outgoing host of The Daily Show, “was when Nancy Pelosi pointed out one really smelly reason the lawmakers might not be able to stay in the Capitol.”

In the footage, Pelosi is seen on the phone with Pence, whom she tells that they’ve “gotten a really bad report about the condition of the House floor. There’s defecation and all that kind of thing as well.”

Pelosi took a more casual approach when relaying this story to her colleagues, noting that “it could take time to clean up all the poo-poo that they’re making, literally and figuratively, in the Capitol.” Noah’s reaction to this clip was one of equal parts amusement and annoyance.

Yep, you heard that right. It turns out right wing Jamiroquai [Jacob Chansley] was sh*tting — or, as Nancy Pelosi put it, ‘poo-pooing’ — all over the Capitol. And you know, when I was watching this happen, I thought to myself: It’s so interesting how people like Tucker Carlson were calling Black people ‘animals’ when the George Floyd protests were happening. But when these people were literally sh*tting in the Capitol, Fox was like, ‘These brave patriots are just expressing their frustration and standing up for American democracy.’

You can watch the full clip above, beginning at the 8:35 mark.

Maren Morris Is Such A Pickleball Fanatic That She’s The Latest ‘Pickleball Magazine’ Cover Star

Lunatic Country Music Person” Maren Morris is fully embracing her affinity for pickleball. The Grammy winner visited Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, the first time she’d been on the show since guest hosting it, and was introduced as the latest cover star of Pickleball Magazine.

Vogue, eat your heart out,” Morris joked. “Pickleball is life.”

The country-pop hitmaker explained that she and her husband, Ryan Hurd, got into pickleball during her current North American headlining tour in support of Humble Quest, her third studio album from March.

“We would just set up courts outside the tour bus and play each other,” Morris told Kimmel. “It was kind of like a team-bonding thing, and then everyone got into it. And now, apparently, there’s a Pickleball Magazine. They’re all gonna be freaking out that we’re mentioning this on the show tonight. But yeah, I’m the cover girl.”

“We play doubles. We have scorecards,” she continued. “There’s a lot of trash-talking. We just do it before soundcheck and before shows. It was kind of a good way — we hadn’t toured in so many years, so there were a few new faces in the crew, and I felt like that first night we played after the show in the parking lot.”

“They say there’s no better way to get to know somebody than to play pickleball with them,” Kimmel interjected.

“That’s, I think, the Pickleball Magazine motto,” Morris quipped, noting that she would play pickleball before her Hollywood Bowl show in Los Angeles on Thursday night (October 13).

Morris didn’t leave Kimmel without performing a swoon-worthy rendition of “Good Friends” so check that out below.

Chevy Chase Opened Up About The ‘Stupidest Thing’ He’s Ever Said During His Whole Career (And How John Belushi Stole His Cocaine)

While reminiscing about his lengthy comedy career stretching all the way back to the early days of Saturday Night Live, Chevy Chase opened up to Bill Maher about the stupidest thing he’s ever said in a long line of misguided wisecracks. Chase made the confession on the latest episode of Maher’s Club Random podcast where he also shared an anecdote about John Belushi stealing his cocaine.

According to Chase, the biggest blunder of his career was during a 1980 interview with NBC’s Tom Snyder when Chase categorized legendary screen actor Cary Grant as a “homo.” Chase, who has a reputation for having a caustic personality, was surprisingly repentant about the whole thing. It was an unusual confession for a guy who still doesn’t care that he was a pain in the butt on Community for making off-color jokes. Via The Hollywood Reporter:

“[Tom] said, ‘People say you’re going to be the next Cary Grant,’ and I said, ‘That’s crazy, there’s nobody like Cary Grant and there will never be another Cary Grant and I understand he was a homo,’” Chase tells Maher of the appearance, during which he also said “what a gal” about Grant. “It was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever said.”

Of course, there’s another dimension that explains Chase’s self-reflection. Grant sued the National Lampoon actor for defamation to the tune of $10 million, and Chase reportedly settled for $1 million.

However, he didn’t entirely learn his lesson. While making it a point to say that he doesn’t think Grant was gay, Chase asked Maher for his opinion on Grant’s sexuality, and it went downhill real quick.

“Cary Grant, I think was half of…. I’m going to say this, I think at one time in his life had a d*** in his a**,” Maher said. “That’s conjecture, but he’s just too good looking not to, that’s my theory.”

Ed Sheeran Spilled About How Eminem Sparked His And Elton John’s X-Rated Gift Competition

Ed Sheeran has been making the news lately. Not for his songs, but instead for some… wild gifts he gives out to fellow celebrities. Specifically, during a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Sheeran explained why exactly he felt inclined to buy Elton John a giant marble statue of a penis. In a wild twist, it actually started with a gift that a famous rapper bought for Elton John years ago, before Sheeran turned it into an X-rated gifting competition.

“He is very proud of the fact that Eminem bought him and his husband, David, diamond-encrusted c*ck rings for their wedding,” Sheeran said. “Whenever I’m around there, they’re like, ‘Check it out. Aren’t these cool?’ I’m like, ‘I need to one-up this. I need to get Elton a present that’s gonna make him go [gasp].”

For John’s birthday, Sheeran bought him a “floppy, droopy thing” — which he picked after… apparently deciding between several different statue versions. John loved the gift. However, after the news of Sheeran’s gift was put out into the world, other people started wanting similar presents.

Musician Sam Smith was the second person to receive one of Sheeran’s dick statue presents. “It’s actually wild – I thought it was a joke, but it’s a six-foot-two marble penis,” Smith said on The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier this week. “It’s two tons, and I’m going to have to get it craned into my house.”

After Smith revealed his story, Clarkson was intrigued and mentioned wanting one of her own. So, a potential third statue from Sheeran might be starting a tradition for his favorite fellow musicians getting in on the action.

Later in the interview, Sheeran also gives fans some extra details about his upcoming Mathematics tour.

Indiecast Discusses Tom DeLonge’s Blink-182 Return And Albums By The 1975 And Wild Pink

Indiecast may have ceaseless banter about The 1975 and band leader Matty Healy’s antics — Steven and Ian even dedicated an entire episode to it — but now that the band has released their latest album Being Funny In A Foreign Language, have they finally written an album that lives up to the hype? If you’re an indie fan who happened to be online at all this week, you’ll know that the biggest indie news story came from Blink-182. Plus, Steven and Ian discuss why so many bands seem to be canceling their tours lately.

In this week’s Recommendation Corner, Ian mentions Gris Klein’s album Birds In Row, the post-hardcore band’s third album in 10 years. Meanwhile, Steven shouts out Brian Eno and Bill Callahan and tells listeners to check out Wisconsin band Disq’s new album Desperately Imagining Someplace Quiet.

Stormzy And ‘Top Boy’ Actress Saffron Hocking Get Cozy In The Video For ‘Hide & Seek,’ His Emotive New Single

Stormzy seemingly dialed every number in his phone for his standalone single and video “Mel Made Me Do It” last month, co-starring with the likes of Jose Mourinho and featuring narration from Michaela Coel. The iconic UK rapper kept that same energy for “Hide & Seek,” the official lead single for his forthcoming third album This Is What I Mean due next month.

The hypnotic song was produced by P2J and PRGRSHN and gives the runway to evocative vocals from British singer Ayanna and Afrobeats artists Oxlade and Teni. Oxlade handles the chorus — reminding Stormzy’s love, “Seeking and hiding / You know where to find me, babe” — and Teni’s angelic tone is masterfully layered in Stormzy’s verses and the bridge. Stormzy cuts through with his signature visceral flow, begging his love not to run from the mess they’ve made because their foundational love is strong enough to love: “We built this all wrong, I’ll takе blame / But instead of us tearing it down, wе’ll rearrange.”

The cinematic music video was directed by Meji Alabi, intimately chronicling Stormzy with Top Boy actress Saffron Hocking. The depicted relationship is endearingly worn in. They playfully share the bathroom, and later in the bathroom, Stormzy holds back her hair while she’s sick. Saffron joins Stormzy on the couch while he plays video games, then she goofily dances in her robe. Stormzy is even an Instagram boyfriend in the living room before their night out. Remnants of their bond are lingering when they catch each other out at the club after their presumptive split, as the video ends with the same inside joke with which it began.

Stormzy announced earlier this week that This Is What I Mean is on the way by revealing the title and tracklist on his recently wiped Instagram. The University of Exeter honorary graduate detailed how the album came to be during an Osea Island music camp in a statement via press release.

“When you hear about music camps, they always sound intense and sombre,” Stormzy said. “People saying: ‘We need to make an album.’ ‘We need to make some hit records.’ But this felt beautifully free. We’re all musicians, but we weren’t always doing music. Some days we played football or walked around taking pictures. And the bi-product [sic] to that was very beautiful music. Because when you marry that ethos with world class musicians and the best producers, writers and artists in the world, and we’re in one space, that’s a recipe for something that no one can really imagine. You can’t even calculate what that’s going to come up with. And it came up with a big chunk of this album.

This Is What I Mean follows the albums Heavy Is The Head (2019) and Gang Signs & Prayer (2017) in Stormzy’s groundbreaking discography.

Jenna Ortega Is Proud Of Her Generation For Taking Control Away From ‘Older White Males’

The annual UCLA Hollywood Diversity Report found that in 2021, only 30.2 percent of the year’s highest-grossing and major streaming films were directed people of color. The percentage is even lower for women, who “claimed 21.8 percent of these critical positions in 2021,” according to report. That’s up from 20.5 percent in 2020, but it’s still not good enough. Jenna Ortega is ready for things to change.

The Scream and X breakout told Who What Wear, “I see my young generation taking more control of themselves in the industry — whether it’s learning to write sooner, direct sooner, or produce sooner. I think it’s really empowering and important because, right now, teenage voices are still being told in the majority by older white males.” Ortega has appeared in five horror movies in the last decade — four were directed by white men (Insidious: Chapter 2, directed by James Wan, is exception). She added, “The more that happens, we’ll acknowledge that girls are much more than a lame stereotype.”

Ortega said that as someone who had no connections in the industry, “it was really random that I ended up here honestly. I was taught that this industry is so finicky that you can be working, working, working and then never work again. I had twice as fewer job opportunities as other girls my age, so I took what I could.” But now, she’s “come to a point where I can be more selective or more precise about jobs that I would like to do.”

Next up for Ortega: playing Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday.

Tom DeLonge Sent Matt Skiba A Touching Message Thanking Him For His Time In Blink-182

Tom DeLonge is back in Blink-182, which could actually be bittersweet news for fans who enjoyed the band’s last two albums, on which Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba stepped in to take DeLonge’s place. DeLonge certainly doesn’t seem to discount Skiba’s contributions to the group, as he indicated in a message shared with him.

DeLonge posted the message on his personal Instagram page yesterday (October 13) and it reads, “Hi Matt- Tom DeLonge here. I wanted to take a minute and say thank you for all that you have done to keep the band alive and thriving in my absence. I think you are enormously talented (I still love to listen to your band to this day). You have always been so kind to me, not only in the press, but also to others. I really noticed. Emotions between the three of us in blink have always been complicated, but Mark’s cancer really put things in perspective. But to be honest, the band would not even be here today if it were not for your ability to jump in and save the day. So from my heart to yours, thank you for being a member of our band.”

DeLonge also captioned his post, “I sent this to Matt personally, but it’s important for the world to know that I honor him. Thank you, @matttskiba.”

As for Blink’s newly reformed classic lineup, they released a new song, “Edging,” a few hours ago.

The Biggest Takeaways From ‘Atlanta’ Season 4, Episode 6

(SPOILERS for this week’s Atlanta will be found below.)

It appears that the characters of Atlanta are getting spotlight episodes to close the final season of the series. Two weeks ago, we followed Earn and his family through a turbulent Sunday that included a battle between Earn’s mom and aunt over the care of their dad. Last week, we followed Vanessa through her time at a TV production studio. That resulted in her daughter Lottie getting several acting opportunities on set, but too many too fast for Vanessa’s liking. This week, Earn and Darius are back into the mix, but the spotlight is mostly on Paper Boi as the main character in the latest episode of Atlanta.

In this week’s episode, titled “Crank Dat Killer,” Earn and Darius notify Paper Boi about a murderer who’s been dubbed the “Crank Dat Killer.” The individual in question is so annoyed by the dances to Soulja Boy’s “Crank Dat (Soulja Boy),” as well as its remixes like “Crank Dat Super Mario,” “Crank Dat Batman,” and “Crank Dat Aquaman” (yes, these exist), that they decide to murder anyone they find who made a dance to it. Unfortunately, Paper Boi made one to a record called “Crank Dat Jimmy Neutron” and this is where things get wild. However, leave it to Earn and Darius to get into a mess of their own.

Here are some of the biggest takeaways that we have after season four’s sixth episode.

Soulja Boy Is The First Rapper To Have An Killer To Be Somewhat Named After Him

If you’ve followed Soulja Boy on social media over the past few years, you’re pretty aware that the rapper is the first to allegedly do a lot of things. Soulja Boy has long proclaimed that he is the first rapper to: be with Kim Kardashian, knock out Logan Paul, have his own game console, go to Atlanta’s Icebox jeweler, photobomb Kobe, take a selfie, and so much more (see the rest here). We can now add being the first rapper to have a killer to be ~somewhat~ named after him. In episode six of season four of Atlanta, Paper Boi learns about the “Crank Dat Killer,” and being that he made “Crank Dat Jimmy Neutron” a decade ago, is life is more or less at risk. Thankfully, he makes it out of the episode unscathed. But to have a whole killer named after your most popular song? Soulja Boy’s influence is there, for better or for worse.

If Soulja Boy Is Worried, You Should Be Too

It’s only right that Soulja Boy appear in the “Crank Dat Killer” episode, right? He checks in halfway into the episode when Paper Boi calls him for advice on the Crank Dat Killer. Real-life Soulja Boy isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with anyone as we’ve seen him spar with Kanye West, The Breakfast Club (Draaake???), Tyga, and others. Despite all of this, Soulja Boy makes it clear that he has no intention of sticking around to meet the Crank Dat Killer as he quickly packs his things to move to somewhere safer. It’s at this moment that Paper boi realizes that the situation is much more serious than he initially thought. I mean, if Soulja Boy is worried, shouldn’t you be too?

It’s Okay, And Somtimes Better, To Say No

In “Crank Dat Killer,” Earn, Paper Boi, and Darius were all made offers to things that they didn’t really want to do. Paper Boi has been avoiding a rapper named Some Guy Named Doug who desperately chasing a feature from Paper Boi, who thinks Doug isn’t good enough for a song. Rather than just saying no, Paper Boi goes to grat lengths to avoid working with Doug. This includes pouring alcohol on the recording studio’s mxiing board to fry the system, as well as saying the WiFi in the studio went out. Paper Boi is successful in his attempts until Doug saves him from getting shot, leaving him no choice but to work with him on a song (which turn out to be a bad one).

As for Earn and Darius, they set out to buy a pair of Nike Miracles, and after a long search, they discover a reseller who has two pairs of the shoes in his van. Earn and Darius are more than ready to pay cash for the sneakers, but the seller requests that they kiss for eight minutes in exchange for the pairs. Earn is completely against it, but Darius really wants the shoes, so the two decide to kiss for a reduced time despite Earn’s strong objections. It all proves to be pointless as the seller is shot and killed by the same person that was chasing Paper Boi. Long story short, it’s okay to say no.

It Could Always Be Worse

This phrase is pretty much one you can say after every wacky episode of Atlanta. This week, Earn, Darius, and Paper Boi were all pushed to do things they really didn’t want to. Luckily for them, they made it out unscathed. Paper Boi gets chased down and shot at by someone that we initially assume is the Crank Dat Killer, but at the end of episode, Paper Boi reveals that it was actually someone from high school that he had beef with. Earn and Darius have to kiss for some Nike Miracles, but luckily for them, the length of their kiss is cut short when their reseller is shot and killed in front of them. It was a pretty wacky day for the Atlanta, which pales is comparison to Vanessa’s day with Lottie, from last week, and for that the trio should be a bit grateful because it could’ve been much worse.

FX’s ‘Atlanta’ airs on Thursdays at 10:00pm EST.
