The Essential Foods To Order On Your Next Disneyland Visit

Walt Disney, like many folks of his generation, had simple tastes when it came to food. He enjoyed “hamburgers, carved meats, [and] black coffee,” Eat Like Walt: The Wonderful World of Disney Food author Marcy Smothers told LAist, and apparently, he didn’t “go” for vegetables.

There’s nothing simple about the menu at Disneyland in 2022, however. Like most theme parks, it’s elevated its culinary offerings in a major way over the past decade to keep up with increasingly savvy diners.

In fact, there are so many options — from corn dogs to fine dining to fried chicken to bakeries to barbecue to Star Wars-inspired grub — that it can be overwhelming. We’re here to help. Below, you’ll find five quick-service items that you should absolutely try during your next trip to Disneyland (we’ll do the same for California Adventure later this week). A few caveats: no restaurants where you need a reservation; no seasonal dishes; no drinks. And one piece of advice: mobile order. It will save you a lot of time and stress.

You would be a poor unfortunate soul to not try these dishes.

1. Ronto Wrap

Available at:

Ronto Roasters (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge)

Item description:

“Roasted Pork, Grilled Pork Sausage, Peppercorn Sauce, and Tangy Slaw wrapped in Pita Bread”

The reason to order:

The Ronto Wrap was an instant favorite at the Disney parks when it was introduced in 2019. It’s not hard to see (taste) why: they’re really delicious. The meat is succulent (there’s a vegetarian option, too); the filling, held together in a warm pita, is flavorful; and it’s hearty but won’t leave you feeling stuffed.

It’s also the closest you’ll come to knowing what it’s like to eat Jar Jar Binks, a dream of mine since I was a youngling.

The ride it pairs best with:

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which is not only the best ride at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — it might be the best ride, period. The line will test your patience, so get there early. Arrive in time for rope drop; power walk (but don’t run, or else you’ll get the stink eye from the parents of the kids you’re breezing past… not that I would know) to Galaxy’s Edge; and breeze through the Rise of the Resistance queue for a thrilling experience escaping the First Order.

The only bad thing about doing Rise first thing in the morning is that you’ll be thinking about it all day.

2. Banyan Beef Skewer

Available at:

Bengal Barbecue (Adventureland)

Item description:

“Hot and Spicy Beef Skewer”

The reason to order:

The skewers aren’t as photogenic as a drink from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, but what they lack in visual appeal they make up in taste. The meat is tender; the sauce, tangy. These are a dependable option if you’re on the hunt for some quick lunchtime protein.

The ride it pairs best with:

Indiana Jones Adventure. I’m a baby when it comes to rides. I don’t do roller coasters, and it took all the courage I could muster to get on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! I had to see my friends (Drax and Rocket Raccoon, whose hands – and I cannot stress this enough — do not scan). This was my first time riding Indiana Jones Adventure, which I feared would be too ~scary~ for me. Nope. It rules (even if the effects don’t always work). There’s a lot to distract you while waiting in the queue, and I’m still not sure how the ride vehicle doesn’t tip over during every thrilling turn.

If you’re a ride coward like me, suck it up. Believe me. It’s worth it.

3. Tostada Salad with Chicken

Available at:

Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante (Frontierland)

Item description:

“Crispy Tortilla Shell with Mexican Rice, Refried Beans, chopped Lettuce, Cilantro-Lime Vinaigrette, Sour Cream, Guacamole, and Pico de Gallo, topped with Cheese”

The reason to order:

The Tostada Salad with Chicken (or beef or vegetarian) is one of the best deals at Disneyland. For under 13 bucks, you get a substantial portion of chicken, rice, and beans, and scoops of sour cream and guacamole, all enclosed in a crispy shell. Be sure to grab some hot sauce, too.

The ride it pairs best with:

It’s a Small World. It’s a long trek from Frontierland, where Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante resides, to far north Fantasyland, the home of the boat ride. Luckily, you’ll be full after finishing a tostada bowl and longing for a walk. Semi-related: when The Simpsons inevitably comes to the Disney parks, possibly after the Universal Studios contract expires, would anyone complain if It’s a Small World was re-themed to The Little Land of Duff? I like It’s a Small World, but would I enjoy a psychedelic journey with hundreds of dolls singing about Duff more? Sign this lizard queen up.

4. Churro and Dole Whip

Available at:

Multiple locations (churro) and Tiki Juice Bar (Dole Whip)

Item description:

Come on, you know what these are

The reason to order:

Some “famous” food items do not live up to the hype. If you get enough drinks in me (one), I’ll go off on McDonald’s french fries and how they’re overrated and… I’ll stop. For your sake, for my sake, for everyone’s sake. But the famous churros at Disney are worth the calories. Make sure to get a Dole Whip, too. It’s a sugary/sweet pairing that tastes good on your first trip to the park… or your 30th.

The ride it pairs best with:

Literally any ride.

5. Mickey Beignets

Available at:

Mint Julep Bar (New Orleans Square)

Item description:

They’re beignets… but in the shape of Mickey

The reason to order:

There are a lot of Mickey-shaped food options at Disneyland. Mickey-shaped pretzels, Mickey-shaped ice cream bars, Mickey-shaped waffles, Mickey-shaped sourdough bread, etc. But my personal favorite is the Mickey-shaped beignets. It’s hard to screw up fried dough covered in powdered sugar (please do not yell at me, Who Dat nation), but even the biggest Café Du Monde stan would have no choice but to give it up for these beignets.

But where’s the king cake with a little Stitch inside?

The ride it pairs best with:

The Haunted Mansion. Follow the path of white powder from Mint Julep Bar to the grim grinning ghosts in Disneyland’s most majestic manor.

Men were tested on their knowledge of female anatomy and failed hilariously

This article originally appeared on 01.14.22

When Jimmy Kimmel takes to the street, you know you’re in for a good laugh at just how little we actually know about, well, seemingly anything. That goes for anatomy too. In this case, female anatomy.

In a segment called “What Do You Know About The Female Body?” men try—and hilariously fail—to answer even the most basic questions, like “does a female have one uterus, or two?” much to the amazement of some of their female partners.

Here are some of the very best bits of nonwisdom:

Woman have LOTS of fallopian tubes and ovaries, apparently.

When asked, “how many fallopian tubes does the average lady have?” one man prefaced with “I know I’m gonna be way off,” before answering “four.”

He was right about being way off, indeed. Women usually have one fallopian tube on either side of the uterus, making that two fallopian tubes.

Another guy guessed that a woman has not one, not two, but six ovaries. Which, in case you didn’t know, is three times more than the correct answer (two ovaries, one on either side of the uterus). Where would a woman keep four extra ovaries? Her purse?

A mammogram examines the stomach.

The interviewer also asked: “What part of the body does the mammogram examine?”

“The lower half…” replied one man. Yikes.

And when asked to demonstrate where exactly the “lower half” is, he gestured toward the uppermost part of his belly, seemingly avoiding the actual area a mammogram covers entirely.

PMS is all in the mind, but only annually.

The next question up was “What does PMS stand for?”

One man shyly answered, “Post…mental…syndrome?”

One outta three ain’t bad. But the correct answer is premenstrual syndrome.

And it definitely happens more than “once a year.”

An IUD is a “mammogram device.”

Oh, and a NuvaRing is a “pap schmear,” and a speculum is the actual “IUD.” Holy moly, if you thought IUDs were uncomfortable before…

Things really took a turn once the graphics came out.

And men were asked to point to where the cervix is. Plenty of things were pointed at—like the uterus. But sadly, no cervix findings.

Changing gears, the interview instructed the men to “point at something you know.”

To which one man replied (inaccurately) “uh…that’s a baby?”

Unless the woman is giving birth to a colon, that was incorrect.

Later in the video, a man is asked “where does the baby go?”

“In there,” the man answers after pointing to the ovaries. (Spoiler alert: It doesn’t go there. A fetus grows in the uterus, which this man thought was the cervix.)

His wife, a gynecologist no less, chuckled “I’m mortified…I’m apparently not a very good educator at home for my husband.”

Though this is just for pure fun, it is food for thought.

A woman’s autonomy over her own body has been the subject of much controversial discussion lately. And I can’t help but wonder how certain politicians/leaders would fare if given the same questions. Perhaps it is unwise to try to govern that which is not fully understood, just saying.

People are sharing the one ‘simple rule that would fix the world if people actually followed it’

This article originally appeared on 03.17.22

The world would be a much better place if humans weren’t so … human. We all fall short of perfection. Common sense is, sadly, not too common. And there’s one guy out there who always manages to screw things up when things start getting good.

Call it Murphy’s law. Call it the great “reason we can’t have nice things.” Call it entropy. It feels like a whole lot of pain could be avoided if we all had just a little bit more sense.

But what if there was one rule that we all agreed to follow to make everyone’s life better? What would this magical rule be?

A Reddit user who goes by the name P4insplatter came to this realization and asked the AskReddit subforum, “What simple rule would fix the world if everyone actually followed it?” They received dozens of simple rules that if everyone got behind would make the world drastically better.

It’s no shock that most of them felt like a variation of the Golden Rule. It’s funny that a lot of folks believe the world would seriously improve if we could just abide by a simple saying that we all learned in kindergarten.

Also known as the “ethics of reciprocity,” the Golden Rule is so innate to humans that versions of it have been found in religions and cultures throughout the world.

Here are 17 of the best responses to P4insplatter’s simple, but world-altering question.

Ciara And Summer Walker Are Teaming Up For A New Song, ‘Better Thangs’

One of the buzziest tracks on Summer Walker’s sophomore album Still Over It was the album’s outro, titled “Ciara’s Prayer.” The closing track features Ciara reciting the prayer she said led her to meet Russell Wilson, who later became her husband. Walker’s vocals are not on the track, but the two will be linking up again for a new collaboration.

The track, called “Better Thangs,” is set to arrive soon. This past weekend, Ciara shared an image of herself on social media with dyed orange hair, wearing a white tank top. The photo was captioned, “Where’s my twin at??:) #BetterThangs.”

Walker later took to Instagram and shared an image of herself with blue dyed hair and a white tank top, captioned, “#betterthangs.”

Later, Ciara shared a video on TikTok of her playing “Better Things” in the car with her kids. Fans can hear both Walker and Ciara’s vocals in the clip.

In an interview with Ebony, Ciara detailed her new album, which she said is as dance-oriented as her 2004 debut album, Goodies

“There’s so much energy in this album because I want to make the world dance — that’s always been my thing,” Ciara said. “It’s the tempo and beat I’ve been moving to in my music, and the key sentiments I’ve poured into this album. There is an R&B core in these records. To be honest, this album feels nostalgic. It takes me back to my first album in a way that no project I’ve done to this point has before.”

A release date for “Better Thangs” has not yet been confirmed.

Nike Unveiled Its Latest LeBron James Signature Sneaker, The LeBron XXs

LeBron James’ latest signature sneaker through his sponsorship with Nike is here. On Tuesday, Nike announced the LeBron XXs, which hold the distinction of being the lightest kick that has ever been released in James’ line of shoes with the company.

In a release, Nike laid out some of the specifics about the sneakers, which are the first in the 20-year LeBron line to debut as a low top.

The shoe’s main features include a lower profile, Zoom Air in the forefoot and the heel, and a carbon fiber midfoot shank. For underfoot cushioning, the forefoot has a top-loaded Air Zoom Turbo unit and the heel features a larger Zoom Air unit, measuring at 13 mm thickness, to help with impact protection. The synthetic-wrapped lateral guardrail helps secure the foot over the footbed. A multidirectional outsole pattern grips the floor. The heritage details throughout the shoe are nods to the past, but make no mistake: The performance build of the LeBron XX has its sights set on the next twenty years.

Here are some photographs of the shoes.

“We saw the XX as a chance to celebrate the next 20 years for LeBron,” Jason Petrie, Nike’s Senior Footwear Designer for Men’s Basketball and lead designer of James’ line of sneakers for more than a decade, said in a statement. “The stitched tag inside the tongue says, ‘Designed and Engineered to the Exact Specifications of the Next Generation.’ We took that line seriously as we designed the shoe. We had players like LeBron’s sons Bronny and Bryce in mind. We wanted to get in their heads and learn about what young players were looking for.”

The sneakers come on the precipice of an historic season for James, who is about to enter his 20th year in the NBA and is only 1,326 points away from passing fellow Laker legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most points scored in NBA history.

The first colorway of the LeBron XX, called “the Time Machine,” will drop on Sept. 29, 2022.

Coldplay’s Colombia Concert Featured Manuel Turizo And A Cover Of Bad Bunny And J Balvin

On Saturday night (September 17), Coldplay celebrated the music of Colombia while performing a concert in Bogotá. The British group covered the song “La Canción” by J Balvin and Bad Bunny. Chris Martin also shared the stage with Colombian singer Manuel Turizo.

Coldplay brought its Music Of The Spheres World Tour to Bogotá’s Estadio El Campín over the weekend. During their concert, the band took a moment to salute one of the country’s biggest stars, J Balvin. Martin performed a stripped-down version of J Balvin and Bad Bunny’s collaboration “La Canción” from their 2019 album Oasis. His Spanish accent was perfect as he belted the heartbreaking ballad at the piano.

Coldplay also paid tribute to Colombia’s music scene by sharing the stage with rising star Manuel Turizo. In his hit “La Bachata,” the reggaeton singer took a detour into the Dominican bachata genre. The move paid off with “La Bachata” currently sitting at No. 10 on Billboard‘s Global 200 chart and No. 6 on Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart. Draped in the Colombian flag, Turizo gave a heartfelt performance as he sang alongside Martin on piano.

“It was an honor for me to play with Coldplay on their last night in Bogota, Colombia from their world tour,” Turizo shared in a statement. “I can’t believe Coldplay performed ‘La Bachata’ with me. I would have never thought this would happen and I feel like I am still in a dream by knowing that Coldplay created history with me for our fans. Never stop dreaming.”

Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour will visit Brazil next month. Meanwhile, “La Bachata” previews Turizo’s upcoming album 2000 that’s due out soon.

Coldplay is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Kanye West Says Sony Is Trying To Sell His Publishing Without His Permission: ‘JUST LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT’

Earlier this week, Billboard reported that representatives for Kanye West had been shopping his publishing catalog to potential buyers, hoping to join the growing trend of artists selling highly coveted and massively profitable publishing rights. However, upon catching wind of the article, the irascible producer adamantly refuted claims that these inquiries had been made on his behalf in the usual Kanye West way.

Posting on his Instagram Story, Kanye wrote: “JUST LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT, MY PUBLISHING IS BEING PUT UP FOR SALE WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. NOT FOR SALE.” In another slide, he shared a screenshot of a text exchange with someone, asking them to check with Gee Roberson, former VP of A&R at Roc-A-Fella Records and current Co-CEO of The Blueprint Group management company. In response, Gee allegedly replied, “Fake news. Of course, every publisher wants to pitch there [sic] hardest buy. Smh.”

Over the past few years, Kanye has grown increasingly vocal about his displeasure with his label situation. In 2021, he claimed the label released his album Donda without his permission, and throughout the past few years, he has taken legal actions against EMI and Universal while arguing that contract terms should be made public (of course, this backfired on him a bit when he posted his own contract revisions, one page at a time, on Twitter, revealing that he might be his own worst enemy in this regard).

Other artists who’ve sold their publishing catalogs include Bob Dylan, Future, John Legend, and Sting. However, sale of Kanye’s catalog may be more complex, as ownership appears to be split among several entities including Sony Music Publishing and his latter-day output contains dozens of collaborators. Meanwhile, the report says sources are conflicted about whether the rights have actually been offered or whether music asset buyers are just expressing interest in purchasing it.

Smashing Pumpkins Release ‘Beguiled,’ The Electrifying First Single From Their 33-Track Album ‘Atum’

Smashing Pumpkins are as ambitious as ever. The Billy Corgan-led alt-rock legends debuted their hauntingly electric new single “Beguiled” through TikTok on Monday night (September 19) before premiering the full official music video this morning (September 20). The anthem is the lead single from their newly announced 12th studio album, Atum (pronounced “Autumn”), billed as a three-act rock opera featuring 33 tracks.

Written and produced by Corgan over the last four years, Atum will serve as a sequel to past epics Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness (1995) and Machina/Machine Of God (2000). Corgan will reveal the track list one-by-one on his, yes, also newly announced iHeartRadio podcast series Thirty-Three With William Patrick Corgan. The first two episodes are available here, debuting the title track and a song titled “Butterly Suite.” The official release dates are November 15 for Act 1, January 31 for Act 2, and April 21 for Act 3, as well as a special box set with 10 additional unreleased songs. Pre-order/save is available here.

The “Beguiled” music video sets the tone for the Atum era. Corgan confidently jaunts toward the camera in a multi-layered white gown. He’s slowly joined by his bandmates (and ballerinas) as the song establishes a clear message in the hard-charged chorus: “Return the faith.”

Smashing Pumpkins faithful have plenty to look forward to. Smashing Pumpkins will perform “Beguiled” for the first time this Friday on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and they’re set to embark on a joint North American Spirits On Fire arena tour with Jane’s Addiction beginning October 2.

Jimmy Kimmel Roasted Donald Trump For Whining Over The FBI Making A Mess Of His Gaudy Palm Beach Palace

Between Joe Biden declaring the pandemic over on 60 Minutes, Queen Elizabeth II finally being laid to rest, and Donald Trump claiming he would have gotten a much better seat at the Queen’s funeral than Biden did, despite not even being invited, the news cycle has been overflowing with content. And while Jimmy Kimmel made time to talk about all the big stories on Monday night, he also saved a few minutes to discuss Trump’s not-so-quiet return to Mar-a-Lago — his first trip back to his Palm Beach lair since the FBI paid it a visit in search of classified documents the former president was most definitely not entitled to have on the premises. While Trump should have been complaining about the mess he has made of his life (and, by extension, ours), the self-described germaphobe instead wanted to complain about the mess federal officers made of the place.

As Kimmel shared, Trump had a lot to say on his TRUTH Social about what he’s describing as a “Break-In of my home” (caps all his):

Trump has been mashing his little fists together more than usual lately. He had not been back to Florida since the FBI showed up to repo the documents he decided were his. He wrote: ‘I’ll soon be heading to the scene of the unwarranted, unjust, and illegal Raid and Break-In of my home in Florida, Mar-a-Lago.’

‘Unwarranted’? The FBI literally had A warrant.

And let’s clear another thing up: What happened at Mar-a-Lago was not a raid or a break-in. They asked him to return the documents, and they only showed up to take them when he didn’t. They told him they were coming before. This is not a raid or a break-in. A break-in is what Trump used to do in the Miss Universe dressing room, ok?

But Trump was even more riled up following his arrival home, as he shared on his failing social media network. “He didn’t like what he saw,” said Kimmel. “He wrote: ‘Arrived in Florida last night… after what they’ve done, the place will never be the same. It was ‘ransacked’ and in far different condition than the way I left it. Many agents — and they didn’t even take off their shoes in my bedroom. Nice!!!’”

“Out of all the terrible qualities Donald Trump has,” Kimmel wondered, “who would’ve guessed that he’s also one of those people who makes you take your shoes off in his house? What a Karen!”

(Apologies to all the Karens reading this.)

You can watch the full clip above, beginning around the 3:20 mark.
