Eminem Could Play ‘Any Position’ For The Detroit Lions, He Jokes On The ‘Hard Knocks’ Finale

The 2022 season of Hard Knocks with the Detroit Lions concluded last night. The five episode series showed head coach Dan Campbell’s team trying to find an identity and establish a winning culture after a disastrous 3-13-1 previous season. Campbell’s message to the team throughout the season was about having “Grit,” something that means a lot to the workhorse city of Detroit. And it’s hard to think of someone who embodies that grit, passion, and ability to rise up to the top, quite as much as arguably Detroit’s most famous export, Eminem.

So on the season finale, Eminem visited the Lions’ training camp facility and looked to be having a lot of fun in the process. He joked about throwing a football on the street as far as he can, but realizing that it only goes 10 yards. He told quarterback Jared Goff that he was much taller than he expected him to be.

He also volunteered his services to the team, saying, “Any position, I’m good. Actually, any position, I’m great.” He passed the ice baths and a running back Jamaal Williams told him all he needed was a 90-second dip to soothe achy muscles. To that, Em replied, “F*ck that. That’s 90 seconds too long!” He even treated the team to a lunch of his “Mom’s Spaghetti.”

Eminem had clearly been watching this season of Hard Knocks as he referenced rookie phenom Aidan Hutchinson’s rendition of “Billie Jean” in front of the entire team. But what really stood out was that Em was humble, present, and gracious enough to take photos and shake hands and chat with everyone he met. The mutual respect was most evident when he met the Lions head coach and Campbell (who is a massive human and dwarfed the rapper) gave him a hug and said, “Nobody represents this city more than you do. It’s a pleasure to have you out here.”

ADHD work from home productivity unlocked with these 5 items. No, the secret isn’t making a list

Having ADHD is like having this weirdly inconvenient but sometimes timely super power. If you don’t have ADHD then that sentence probably makes little sense and if you do have ADHD I’m currently giving you the Hunger Games three finger salute. Hilariously the acronym ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder but in reality, there’s no issue with a deficit of attention. We just seem to focus on the thing we aren’t supposed to be focused on because it’s shiny and the task we should be doing is dull and repetitive. This can make working (you know, the thing adults are supposed to do) difficult.

The routine of going into the office to work in a different environment can be helpful so long as no one talks to you for hours long stretches. But working from home when you have ADHD is a whole different type of beast, the distractions are abundant. Why would you want to focus on writing a brief or doing a spreadsheet when you suddenly realize you haven’t cleaned your baseboard since you moved into the house seven years ago? Now the spreadsheet that should’ve taken two hours takes a full work day because you keep looking at the baseboards and before you know what’s happening you’re on your hands and knees with a wet rag working up a sweat.

I know, I got you. That’s why I came up with a list to help ADHDers stay focused on the task they’re actually supposed to be doing while still hitting that reward button, even when you work from home. Obviously this list isn’t exhaustive and won’t work for every ADHD brain because ADHD is truly like a box of chocolates. Sure there are similarities, it’s all chocolate after all, but nearly every piece is different. See what works for you and toss the rest. Well, don’t toss it because that would be wasteful, repurpose it or give it away. Without further ado, the list:

1. A big ol’ visual timer

Yeah, a timer. That’s where the reward comes in. You tell yourself you’re going to do a task for 20 minutes, so you set the timer and see how much you can do before the time is up. Sometimes it’s just the right amount of pressure to motivate you to do the thing that feels like watching paint dry. The reward for completing the task before the timer is done makes your brain light up and before you know it, you’re setting that bad boy again. You can get it here.

2. A small everything basket

Sure, you’re thinking, “Why do I need a basket if I’m at home? I can walk to the trash can.” Stop that. The basket is for everything you will inevitably collect when you’re on your 5th trip to the kitchen or bathroom. That sock you picked up will lead to you in turn collecting more laundry. The next thing you know you’ve got a load in the washer and dryer and you’re folding clothes instead of working. The sock you picked up goes into this basket by your workspace. This is the “until I can put it away basket.” It will save you from deviating from the task. Buy it here.

3. Bubble popper fidget toy

Because meetings are boring and your energy has to go somewhere so you can actually hear what the person is saying. I personally prefer the animal shaped ones because I’m actually a child with a mortgage, but really any kind will do. They’re quiet and mindless. You don’t have to look down to concentrate on the activity so you can focus on the task at hand – pretending to be an adulty adult in the meeting. No one will know you’re playing with a toy off camera. Grab it here.

4. A sit any way you want chair

I’m not sure if it’s an ADHD thing or if it’s just a coincidence but I’ve yet to meet a person that has ADHD who can sit in a chair like chairs are intended. Legs just don’t seem to work that way when you have ADHD. This isn’t backed by science but I’m sure they can do a study on it and prove my hypothesis. A wide seated chair will let you sit however your legs need to fold in order for your brain to focus. Sit criss cross apple sauce if you’d like. Having the right chair will help create the environment you need to focus. Pick it up here.

5. A sweary notebook

Making a “to-do” list doesn’t seem to work for ADHD people. I’m sure someone loves lists that also have ADHD, but I personally have not met one. I like to make a reverse list so at the end of the day I can see everything I’ve actually accomplished. So instead of writing a list in advance, as I finish things I just write them down and cross them off. Check. It’s done. I’ve found this keeps me motivated to start the next task because there’s no order I have to follow. You just do a thing then write it down and cross it off. Get the notebook here.

Everyone’s needs will be different but if you find you’re focusing on the wrong things while you’re working from home, this list can help. If you have a hack that works for you, don’t keep secrets. Share yours and help another human.

Phoenix Unveil TheIr New Album ‘Alpha Zulu’ And Drop The Collaborative Single ‘Tonight’

Five years have passed since Phoenix’s last album, 2017’s Ti Amo. Today, the French indie band officially announced their next album, Alpha Zulu, which is slated for a November release. Along with the announcement, the band dropped the first single, “Tonight.” The upbeat track features none other than Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, marking Phoenix’s first time bringing on another vocalist. Koenig also appears with the band in the video, which was filmed between Paris and Tokyo.

Band members Thomas Mars (vocals), Christian Mazzalai (guitarist), Laurent “Branco” Brancowitz (keys, guitars), and Deck d’Arcy (bass, key bass) self-produced and recorded Alpha Zulu in Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The album came to fruition during lockdown, with most of the songs written in just ten days, as Brancowitz described in a statement.

“We felt it would be a fantastic adventure to create something out of nothing in a museum,” he said. “And so with the pandemic, we could live exactly this scene, to be alone in an empty museum.”

Amidst the pandemic, Phoenix also sought to honor their late friend and collaborator, Philippe Zdar, who died in 2019. “We lost more than ever, almost,” Mazzalai shared. “We had many moments where we could feel his ideas. Jeté, that’s a word he would say, when you’re throwing something very fast.”

In addition to the announcement, Phoenix kick off their tour tonight in Chicago, Illinois, before heading across North America and Europe. A complete list of dates are available below, along with the complete Alpha Zulu tracklist and cover art.

Central Cee Breaks Down UK Slang In A Proper LA Leakers Freestyle For Power 106

We’ve been touting the potential that West London’s Central Cee has in making UK drill rap a fixture across Stateside for a minute. The dude is pure flow and attacks the mic like his life depends on it. It’s evident throughout his new album, 23, and especially on his latest one-off single, “Doja.” Cench will have a chance to show us in person when he embarks on his first ever US tour in October, but he’s already spending time in California to generate buzz. Yesterday, he hopped on Power 106 to drop an official LA Leakers freestyle and hoowee! Cench didn’t come to play.

Hosts Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk introduced him as “our brother from across the pond,” and no sooner after the beat dropped did Central Cee get to work. Wrapped in a blue Brazilian soccer jersey and his diamond-studded 23 necklace, there was no “check, check,” there was no “yo yo, yo, yo…” the beat dropped and he went in.

For most of the three-minute maelstrom, he freestyled about different slang in America vs. in England. The further he went in on the flow, the more complex the lyrics got. “We say, ‘cash, P’s, racks, G’s, we don’t really call them bands / In LA it’s Escalades, in the Ends it’s Mercedes vans.” The more it went on, the more it felt like nothing short of if Big L had dropped “Ebonics” as a freestyle.

Check out Central Cee’s LA Leakers freestyle above.

Tegan And Sara Debut A Reflective Smashing Pumpkins Cover In A New ‘High School’ Trailer

Tegan And Sara are in the midst of a big leap to TV, as their series High School, based on the Quin sisters’ 2019 memoir of the same name, premieres on Amazon Freevee this fall (October 14, specifically). So, they’ve been busy hyping that up, most recently with the show’s first teaser, which they shared about a month ago.

Now, they’re going back to their bread and butter — music — to push the program, sharing an Amazon Music-exclusive cover of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Today,” a recording that soundtracks a new trailer for the show that was unveiled today. The new rendition takes a softer approach to the ’90s classic, although the rock edge of the original tune shines through as the song progresses.

The YouTube video description of the trailer notes of the show, “High School is a story about finding your own identity — a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimic your own. Told through a backdrop of ‘90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaves between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another.”

It’s going to be a busy fall for Tegan And Sara, as they also have a new album, Crybaby, dropping shortly after High School premieres.

Check out the High School trailer above and listen to Tegan And Sara’s cover of “Today” here.

Crybaby is out 10/21 via Mom+Pop Music. Pre-save it here.

Kate Walsh Is Returning To ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Once Again, Officially, For Season 19(?!)

Everyone remembers where they were when Addison Montgomery showed up at the end of season one of Grey’s Anatomy. Okay, maybe not everyone, but she single-handedly shattered the Grey’s universe when it was revealed that she was married to McDreamy aka Patrick Demsey’s character on the hit ABC show that is still running, even if you stopped watching after season five like most of the world. But, the series is coming up on its 19th (!) season, and Addison will make her triumphant return.

Kate Walsh has joined the upcoming season as a recurring character at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, reprising her role as Dr. Addison Montgomery, a neo-natal surgeon. Walsh was originally on the series from 2005 to 2007, when she got her own Grey’s spinoff Private Practice, which ran for six seasons.

Throughout the 18-season run, Walsh would return for a handful of episodes here and there, most recently for a multi-episode story arch in 2021. For season 19, Walsh will be upgraded to a recurring star, which softens the blow after it was revealed that Ellen Pompeo would be appearing in a limited capacity. Pompeo is one of three original cast members remaining on the show, where she also serves as producer.

Now that the show has brought back both living and dead characters, it’s time for the show to bring back the only actual ghost, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He is ready and willing to do it!

Rema And Selena Gomez Show Off Some Laid-Back Looks In Their ‘Calm Down’ Video

Two weeks after releasing the Selena Gomez remix of his hit song “Calm Down,” Afrobeats star Rema has followed up with the official video. The simple, sweet clip pairs the two singers on a variety of sets made up like a living room, a breakfast nook, and a garage, where they dance gently as they perform the song. Both are styled in laid-back looks; Rema rocks a few button-up shirts with elaborately braided hair adorned with cowrie shells, while Selena does corset tops with slacks and jeans.

Shortly ahead the release of the “Calm Down” remix, the Only Murders In The Building star shared a promo teaser in which she said, “I’m really excited to see the person that asked me to be on a song that I couldn’t be more honored to do. The song’s fun, I hope people like it. That’s all I want.” Meeting Rema backstage at his show in LA, she encourages him to “have fun” on stage, while he admits that he’s “shaking” to meet her. The remix could certainly go a long way toward driving his popularity stateside, opening up his music to a whole new audience. Meanwhile, it’s also a great way for Selena to get her feet wet as she apparently prepares to return to the spotlight herself after sharing a video of herself in a recording studio.

You can watch the video for the “Calm Down” remix above.

Guy Fieri’s Changes To His Mayor Of Flavortown ‘Lifestyle’ Include No Eating Until Noon

Guy Fieri is 54 years old. He can’t eat Trash Can Nachos and Loaded Mac Daddy Mac ‘N’ Cheese and Cheeto Dusted Pork Rinds the way he used to. In fact, the Mayor of Flavortown isn’t eating anything before noon these days, as he revealed to People.

“I’ve changed my lifestyle in the last couple years — what I eat, when I eat, how I eat. I don’t want to be one of those guys that burns up through the tunnel. I’m in better shape now than I was when I was 30. I don’t want to die young. I want to be around for my kids,” Fieri explained. The Rage fan now works out at 6 a.m. daily, doesn’t drink on weekdays, and practices intermittent fasting. “I don’t eat until noon. At first I was worried it would make me sluggish, but my body learned the routine, and my energy increased.”

Fieri does have The Rock-lite cheat days, though.

Shoot days for Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives are the exception, but they are not the gluttonous feasts viewers see — or think they see — onscreen. “Everybody thinks I chug down the whole cheeseburger,” he says. “I’ll try two items in a restaurant, three restaurants in a day. By the time I’ve had two bites of each food, I’m full.”

Fieri told People that when he dies, he wants people to remember him as being “good for mankind” and for helping others. These are both true, but to me, he’s the guy who coined the phrase “chug down the whole cheeseburger.” Now there’s a legacy.

Luka Doncic Gave France Les Bleus With A Record 47 Points At EuroBasket 2022

Since guiding his Dallas Mavericks to their first Western Conference Finals trip since 2011 in May, Luka Doncic has hardly seemed to take a hiatus from organized basketball games. Between EuroBasket qualifiers and the tournament itself, Doncic has extended his blazing spring to a blazing summer and soon-to-be fall.

On Wednesday evening, he and his native Slovenia squared off against France. These are two of the premier national teams in Europe. Slovenia is the reigning EuroBasket champion, while France just finished runner-up at the 2021 Olympics last summer. En route to that silver medal, France knocked off Slovenia, 90-89, in a thrilling semifinals matchup.

Doncic and Slovenia exacted some revenge Wednesday, defeating France, 88-82, in group play. Leading Slovenia’s efforts was Doncic, who poured in a 21st-century EuroBasket record with 47 points. He scored 22 in the first 12 minutes, had 27 at halftime and entered the final frame already with 37. His 47 points marked the most over the past 65 years of EuroBasket history and are the second-most all-time.

The usual Luka Magic was in full effect, but he somehow outdid his typical theatrics with this patently absurd bucket.

To be clear, that is a three-point floater over the outstretched arms of 7’1 Rudy Gobert, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and one of the greatest defenders of the generation. Doncic’s touch is foolishly splendid.

Later, Doncic continued his dazzling shot-making, despite Gobert’s best efforts, with a classic stepback triple.

Although Gobert didn’t match Doncic’s 47, he did notch 19 points on 9-for-10 shooting, eight rebounds, one assist and a thunderous slam over Doncic.

The irony in Doncic’s historic performance is a day earlier, when Giannis Antetokounmpo tallied 41 points in Greece’s 99-79 win over Germany, Doncic said he’d bet on Antetokounmpo to set the EuroBasket scoring record. At the time, Antetkounmpo’s 41 points were the most in a EuroBasket game since Dirk Nowitzki’s 43 in 2001.

Through five games, Slovenia sits atop Group B with nine points and France is second with eight points. They’ll both be advancing to the elimination stage. If we’re lucky, we might be treated to a rematch, where Doncic could even outdo himself.
