Lizzo Is Ecstatic After Jojo And Jojo Siwa Made ‘2 Be Loved’ TikTok Videos

Lizzo is extremely talented and successful, yet as humble as they come. Her performances carry such confidence and vigor that it would make sense if no one ever tried to replicate them. However, Jojo and Jojo Siwa made the bold attempt by performing their own renditions of “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” on TikTok. Evidently, they nailed it as Lizzo responded with enthusiasm.

In a TikTok video shared on Twitter on Saturday (September 10), Siwa can be seen dancing energetically in a driveway loaded with fancy cars to Lizzo’s upbeat record. The video then transitions to Jojo singing a rousing cover backed by accompanying singers before Lizzo comes on the screen.

“Not both Jojo’s doing ‘2 Be Loved’ in the same damn day,” the Special artist said. The moment led her to try and turn the performances into a challenge of sorts. “Jojo Siwa! Jojo Jojo! Now I need all the Jojo’s to do ‘2 Be Loved.’ Joe Jonas, K-Ci & Jojo, Jojo The Dolphin, Mojo Jojo, b*tch!”

Time will tell if another Jojo steps up, but her enthusiasm makes the moment the icing on the cake of what has been a successful year for Lizzo. She released Special back in July to major fanfare, led by the singles “Grrrls” and “About Damn Time.”

Nicki Minaj Might Have Dissed Latto During ‘Queen Radio’ After Latto Said That Female Rap Is Now Thriving

One thing that has become clear over the last few years is that when Nicki Minaj hosts her infamous Queen Radio show, someone will more than likely be dissed. The latest target appears to be Latto, as the “Super Freaky Girl” artist seemed to have some choice words that could be for her in the wake of her assertion that female rap is more balanced than it has ever been.

In a clip posted to Twitter on Friday (September 9), a fan screen recorded a 40-second snippet of Nicki Minaj’s recent radio show saying “A lot of other people come in one day, and the next day you’re trying to categorize yourself with people who have been f*cking working and putting their blood, sweat, and tears into this sh*t for 15 and 20 motherf*cking years. And then that album comes out and you can clearly see you haven’t built up a loyal fanbase yet who actually likes your f*cking music. And then what they start doing is they start digging the hole deeper for themselves.”

Though the Queen artist did not say a name, many believe this was pointed at the “Big Energy” rapper. In a follow-up tweet, the same fan shared a clip of Latto’s interview with Hollywood Unlocked from March where she says “Look how many female rappers is thriving right now, versus it being Nicki and everybody else.” Notably, her gesture when mentioning Nicki Minaj indicated she was above everyone else, and the subsequent gesture showed a more level playing field in reference to today’s female rap landscape.

While it appears Latto had no malice toward Minaj, it is not rare for the “Barbie Tingz” artist to take offense to statements that weren’t intended to be offensive. Latto has not made any comments in retort, but their fanbases have been going at it on Twitter ever since the initial clip dropped, with some referencing Nicki targeting Lil Kim in the early days of her career.

Appalachian State Went On The Road And Took Down No. 6 Texas A+M

Week 2 wasn’t filled with many games that people had highlighted on their calendars, but before nightfall arrived on the East Coast a pair of top 10 teams that entered the day favored by three touchdowns found themselves handed a loss by Sun Belt opponents.

After No. 8 Notre Dame got stunned by Marshall at home, it was No. 6 Texas A&M’s turn as they learned the hard way why you don’t invite Appalachian State to your home stadium, as the Mountaineers took them down in a 17-14 win that featured a lot of defense, a lot of mediocre play from the Aggies offense, and impressive physicality from a Mountaineers team that came a two-point conversion shy of taking UNC to overtime (in a much different looking game) a week ago.

The Mountaineers defense was sensational a week after giving up over 60 to UNC, holding the Aggies to just 186 total yards and forcing two turnovers, including this strip sack that led to their first score of the game.

Texas A&M would tie things up at 7-7 going into halftime and the two teams would trade third quarter touchdowns before the Mountaineers would take the lead on a field goal (after dropping a wide open touchdown) to go up 17-14. Texas A&M would be the beneficiary of a roughing the passer call on the ensuing drive, and marched into App State territory for only the third time all day, but once again stalled out. A 47-yard field goal attempt was what stood between the Aggies and a tie game, and the result was a non-competitive kick that left the Mountaineers just a couple minutes shy of another monstrous upset.

App State would pick up a first down and then iced the game on a long run down to the Texas A&M 12, as the College Station crowd was left stunned and the folks from Boone were going crazy. It was a dominant performance from the Mountaineers statistically, even if it didn’t show up as much on the scoreboard, and was far from a fluky outcome. They outgained the Aggies 314-186, had 22 first downs to just 9 from Texas A&M, and had the ball for 41:30 of the game.

The Sun Belt is looking like the best G5 conference in the country after Week 2 and teams are going to be checking their future schedules to make sure they haven’t invited the ‘eers to their place in the near future.

Charlie Puth Pranks Coffee Shop Customers During ‘Undercover Sing’ On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

Charlie Puth is a musical mastermind, and used his vocal gifts and humor to prank coffee shop attendees during his Friday (September 9) visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! In the show’s running segment “Undercover Sing,” the pop star hid in the back of a coffee shop and trolled customers who were just looking to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee. He pretended to be a radio host and pointed out characteristics that one could only know if they were in the room.

The first customer, who later revealed his name to be Jay, sported a tie-dye hoodie and unique hairstyle. Puth pointed out these details in his fake radio signoff as the customer confusingly looked around the coffee shop. The 30-year-old pointed that action out as well by singing “Look to the left and look to the right,” before following up with “If you hear me get up and spin around once.”

Jay was a good sport and engaged in each hilarious request before Puth emerged from the back of the shop and offered to buy him a sandwich while he reacted with confused excitement.

A second customer name Kate ordered a drink but was told there was no more oat milk by the cashier. Puth offered a charming reminder to the tune of his 2016 record “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” singing “We’re all out of oat milk, Kate, I’m so sorry” repeatedly. Kate nodded and sang along, seemingly knowing something fishy was afoot before breaking out in laughter.

Marshall Stunned No. 8 Notre Dame In A 26-21 Win In South Bend

A week after Notre Dame went into the Horseshoe and gave Ohio State just about all it could handle for more than three quarters, the Irish returned home to South Bend for what figured to be a comfortable bounce back against Marshall.

The Irish were three touchdown favorites, but found themselves down 6-0 in the early going and then 9-7 at the half in what was another dismal offensive performance from the Tyler Buchner led group. After another Marshall field goal put them up 12-7, Notre Dame finally took its first lead of the day in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter and looked like they might escape with a win.

However, after the two teams traded punts, Marshall marched 94 yards in 11 plays for the go-ahead touchdown with just over five minutes to play, as Henry Colombi found Devin Miller for the score.

On the ensuing Notre Dame drive, the Herd would put extend that lead to 11 with a stunning pick-six on third down, as Steven Gilmore jumped the route and took it 37 yards to the house to make it 26-15.

Marshall would again pick off Buchner on the next drive as Notre Dame got into the red zone, all but locking up the victory.

The Irish would get a stop after that and partially blocked a punt to get the ball on the Marshall 30 with two minutes to go, but after taking a sack the clock became too big of an obstacle to overcome. Marshall’s defense was able to force them to take enough time off the clock before scoring a late touchdown to make it 26-21 with 14 seconds to play. There was no miracle with an onside kick and one kneeldown from Marshall delivered them one of the program’s biggest upset wins in history on the road against a top 10 team (that surely won’t be anywhere near the top 10 after this week).

John Legend Doubles Down On His Chicken And Pancakes Advocacy On ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’

John Legend is undeniably talented, but the world learned back in January that he has another gift: getting into food debates. On Friday’s visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host brought up his infamous Instagram post where he advocated for chicken and pancakes over chicken and waffles. Legend was unfazed by the inquiry and doubled down on his take.

When Fallon asked Legend why he prefers chicken and pancakes, he simply said that the texture difference is better because chicken and waffles use a similar batter. After showing a blown-up graphic of the Legend artist’s Instagram post, Fallon pulled out a plate of chicken and pancakes from the restaurant Bubby’s for the two to eat together.

Upon trying it himself, Fallon expressed approval. The two even asked band mambers Questlove and Black Thought for their take, and the legendary artists both agreed that the dish was enjoyable.

Elsewhere on the show, John Legend performed “All She Wanna Do” from his new album Legend and he and Fallon relived their fake R&B glory days in a hilarious segment showing three different music videos from their (again, fake) ’90s group Color Me Interestedd.

When Does ‘Fast X’ Come Out?

It’s hard to believe it’s been 21 years since the Fast and Furious franchise began. So much has changed. The 2001 original was a relatively stripped-down affair, with Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker simply racing cars and doing some realistic (also relatively) thieving. Not one character went to space. When Fast X — the main series’ 10th installment and the 11th overall, if you include the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw — arrives, it will surely take the franchise into even more over-the-top territory. Speaking of, when does Fast X arrive?

The answer is: May 19, 2023, arriving mere weeks into the summer movie season, and occupying the much-sought Memorial Day weekend slot.

As of this writing, Fast X is still shooting, having begun in May. It wasn’t long into principal photography that drama reared its ugly head. Director Justin Lin — who helped kick the series up a notch with the game-changing Fast Five and was set to return bailed from his gig mere weeks into filming. He was replaced by Louis Leterrier, of the first two Transporter films, The Incredible Hulk, the 2010 Clash of the Titans, Now You See Me, and more. There was also a failed attempt by Diesel to get Dwayne Johnson back into the main wing of the series.

Along with Diesel’s Dom, also returning are Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty Ortiz, Tyrese Gibson’s Roman Pearce, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges’ Tej Parker, Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto, Nathalie Emmanuel’s Ramsey, and Sung Kang’s Han Lue. Other returning cast members include Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and Scott Eastwood. New to the franchise are
Jason Momoa, Michael Rooker, and the legendary Rita Moreno.

Fast X hits theaters on May 19, 2023.

Andie MacDowell—what we can all learn about beauty and age from the gray hair movement

This article originally appeared on 02.25.22

For many, even those that proudly wave the flag of self-love, the sight of that first gray hair is anxiety inducing. That single strand is a harbinger of the doom of our youth. More than one, and you might as well weave them together to create yourself a noose. It’s time to kiss your beauty—and therefore, your value—goodbye.

But what if, instead of marking the end of our glory days, we could see this change as a new chapter with equally glorious reveals? Something worth presenting, rather than hiding?

Back in July 2021, actress Andie MacDowell made headlines for rocking the silver vixen look at the Cannes Film Festival. MacDowell’s hair has always been a defining feature, but previously she had been coloring her raven locks to maintain her signature look. This was at the behest of her managers, according to an interview with Vogue.

But after her kids officially declared the salt-and-pepper look was “badass,” MacDowell started to see going natural as a “power move.” So she followed the impulse, and you don’t need me to tell you it was a bit of a social media sensation.

MacDowell reflected on how freeing the experience was in a conversation with Interview Magazine. “I feel better like this. Honestly, it’s exhausting to have to be something that you no longer are…I was finally like, ‘You know what? I’m not young. And I’m OK with that..I feel so much more comfortable. It’s like I’ve taken a mask off or something.”’

Isn’t this a battle so many of us fight? Instead of basking in how far we’ve come, we spend so much effort trying to wind back the clock. And in all the rigamarole of trying to delay the inevitable, we forget that aging is a glorious gift. One that’s not guaranteed.

Even when we use terms like “embrace the gray,” there’s this connotation that aging is this frightening tidal wave that we simply need to bolster ourselves for. Where’s the grace in that? I mean, yes, as the end of life approaches, it is scary to think about the impending unknown. But the process of getting there? Perhaps not so much.

In the same article, MacDowell reflected that she, too, “hates the word ’embrace,’ because it always sounds like you’re having to accept something, and I don’t feel like that.” I love this viewpoint. Accept it? Why not value it? Let’s come back to the original meaning of the word … and welcome it warmly.

MacDowell continued “We do have something unique to offer. You can’t be young forever, but you can always be considered beautiful, fashionable, and glamorous.”

The cynical voice in your head might say, “sure easy for someone who’s already glamorous to say that.” But MacDowell isn’t the only one who made this discovery. Tons of “real” women have had the same revelation.

Once the pandemic caused salons across the country to close down (coupled with major pay cuts and job losses), a surge of women chose to stop coloring their hair. But—as with many life aspects affected by COVID-19—what started as a forced restriction became an opportunity for reinvention. In ditching the hair dye, many women found that their silver strands were not only tolerable, they were empowering.

Now you could even say gray hair is “in” and making a comeback tour. And trust, these dames are definitely glamorous. This is not just an experience for A-listers.

Of course, this movement is not just about aesthetics. There is a bigger idea here. It’s no secret that our society has some deep-seated stigmas when it comes to aging, for women in particular. We place a high value on those “30 Under 30” lists, seek out the strongest retinol to erase all signs of life and stand mouth agape in horror at the first mention of the word “ma’am.” But it doesn’t have to be that way. All chapters of life are precious, and worth celebrating.

I’m a firm believer that glamor is only a result of confidence. And as we grow older, we only become more dynamic, more nuanced, more interesting. If that’s not a confidence booster, I don’t know what is.

Going gray won’t be the answer for everyone. I certainly don’t plan on trading in my signature red anytime soon. But the real call to adventure is: How can you feel good about yourself at every stage of life? How can you throw away the (false) notion that you somehow lose your shine with every passing year?

As the saying goes, “beauty is truth, truth beauty.” I think we can really see that in stories like these. To age gracefully is to age fearlessly. Radical self-acceptance is gorgeous.

Funny video compares the differences in how new moms and ‘veteran’ mothers parent their kids

This article originally appeared on 05.18.22

When a couple has their first child, they start out with the greatest of intentions and expectations. The child will only eat organic food. They will never watch TV or have screen time and will always stay clean.

But soon, reality sets in and if they have more kids, they’ll probably be raised with a lot less attention. As a result, first-born kids turn out a bit differently than their younger siblings.

“Rules are a bit more rigid, attention and validation is directed and somewhat excessive,” Niro Feliciano, LCSW, a psychotherapist and anxiety specialist, told Parents. “As a result, firstborns tend to be leaders, high achievers, people-pleasing, rule-following and conscientious, several of the qualities that tend to predict success.”

However, it’s not just laziness that makes parents change their M.O. As parents gain experience, they learn not to sweat the small stuff and to have a bit more faith in their children.

Tova Leigh is a writer and performer who creates funny sketches on TikTok about parenting and feminism. To point out the differences between new and veteran moms she made a series of funny sketches with fellow mom Riona O Connor.

In the first video, the two mothers deal with fighting children. The new mommy uses a sweet voice and quietly suggests, “Oh honey, no, no fighting, sweetie. Gentle hands” to the brawling kids. When that doesn’t work, the veteran mother screams, “We said stop fighting!”

@tova_leigh

We’re all doing a great job, some of us just do it a little louder (or with a hose) 😂 which one are you?! with @rionaoconnor_ #fyp #funny #parenting #momsoftiktok

The video must have hit a nerve with parents everywhere because it went viral, racking up more than 3 million views. “As a mum of 5… this is 100% accurate,” Lora Bora wrote in the comments. Kira agreed saying, “I got 4…. And I felt this in my soul.”

While the video was funny, it should also provide some comfort to young mothers who feel overwhelmed by the pressure to be perfect. As blogger Constance Hall points out, the need to be perfect can rob us of precious time with our kids.

“We are only half present for them all of the time due to the constant pressure to have everything perfect,” Hall wrote in a viral Facebook post. “To go to the gym, answer that email, pay that bill, cook that organic kale, blend it, get it into a patty so no one knows it’s kale, get to the doctors…. Make the kids lunches cos if you order them again you will be JUDGED!”

In the second video, the two mothers have very different approaches to making a puree.

@tova_leigh

We’re all doing a great job, some of us just do it with a happy meal 🤪 which one are you? With @rionaoconnor_ #funny #fyp #momlife

In a third video, the two parents express their Christmas spirit in very different ways.

@tova_leigh

#ad AD We are all doing a great job, some of us just do it with less Christmas spirit 😉 Which one are you?! Did you recognise any of the lines? They are all from our favorite movies available on @SkyTV this Christmas. What’s your favorite? With the amazing @rionaoconnor_ TAG A FRIEND #ChristmasOnSky #fyp #funny #momlife #momsontiktok #newmomvsveteranmom #ad

Kids grow up fast and if you blink an eye, you just may miss it. So regardless if you’re a new mom or a veteran mom, take a page out of these mothers’ books, relax a bit and have fun being a parent. Your kids will probably forget your vegan kale puree, but they’ll always remember the time you spent just being present.

All The Big Marvel And Star Wars (And ‘Avatar 2’!) Announcements From Disney’s D23 Expo

Following a flurry of Walt Disney Animation and Pixar announcements, D23 returned for day two with another big-time studio showcase: the Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Studios panel, which included previews of upcoming movies and shows.

Here they are, including release dates (or years) when applicable:

Andor (September 21), the Rogue One prequel that will last 24 episodes over two seasons

Tales of the Jedi (October 26), an animated series comprised of six shorts, three about Ahsoka, three about Dooku

Willow (November 30), an original series based on the other George Lucas movie with Warwick Davis

The Bad Batch (January 4, 2023), season two of the animated series

Ahsoka (2023), Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano gets her own Obi Wan-style showcase

Skeleton Crew (2023), about a group of kids (“but it is not a kids show,” according to creator Jon Watts) who get lost in the Star Wars galaxy; also, Jude Law!

The Mandalorian (2023), the season three teaser has Baby Yoda and Babu Frik (or maybe a different Anzellan? My apologies to the Anzellan community). What more do you need?

Indiana Jones 5 (June 30, 2023), a teaser was screened (but not released to the public) and it looks promising — Harrison Ford’s age is tied into the theme of the film, and director James Mangold seems to have effectively balanced nostalgia and a new pulp-style adventure. Phoebe Waller-Bridge will provide the comedic relief.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November 11), two clips were shown: Angela Bassett’s Ramonda telling off a room of politicians for why she doesn’t share Wakanda’s precious Vibranium while Danai Gurira as Okoye and Michaela Coel as Aneka kick the butts of some gun-toting goons, and a new action-focused teaser that once again ends with a shot of Black Panther without revealing the hero’s identity

Ironheart (2023), a genius teenager (Dominique Thorne) builds an Iron Man-like suit

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Febuary 17, 2023), the trailer isn’t “coming out for awhile,” according to Kevin Feige, but it was shown at D23. In the footage, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) enter the Quantum Realm, where they encounter Bill Murray (not the actual Bill Murray, sadly, but a character played by him) and Jonathan Majors’ scene-stealing Marvel baddie Kang. But the best part of the clip: the “you have no good car ideas” guy from I Think You Should Leave calls Ant-Man “Spider-Man.” Put him in every Marvel movie.

Werewolf By Night (October 7), the special starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Laura Donnelly is a throwback to black-and-white monster movies

Secret Invasion (2023), you can watch for yourself in the trailer below (welcome to the MCU, Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman)

Armor Wars (TBD), Tony Stark’s armor gets into the wrong hands and it’s up to Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes to fix things in the Disney+ series

Loki (2023), the MCU’s first show to get a second season takes place where season one left out. “How did I get there?” is how Owen Wilson described the new episodes. A highlight is the addition to Everything Everywhere All At Once and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom star Ke Huy Quan to the cast.

Echo (2023), after being introduced in Hawkeye, Alaqua Cox returns as Echo, the MCU’s first deaf superhero

Daredevil: Born Again (2024), Charlie Cox is back as Daredevil in the 18-episode series

Captain America: New World Order (May 3, 2024), Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) big-screen solo showcase as Captain America also stars Tim Blake Nelson, last season in 2008’s Incredible Hulk as The Leader.

Thunderbolts (2024), a “ragtag team” of not-Avengers starring Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine

The Marvels (July 28, 2023), bringing together Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau (and Goose the “cat”)

Avatar: The Way of Water (December 16), I don’t know if the long-awaited Avatar sequel will be good, but based on the six scenes that were screened to the D23 crowd, including two set primarily underwater, it’s going to, at the very least, look amazing
