While Rudy Giuliani’s unwavering loyalty to Donald Trump has seemed misplaced to many — especially given that the former president seems to have essentially abandoned his pal, who is in deep legal doo-doo for conspiring with Trump to overturn the 2020 presidential election — a new revelation from Rudy’s ex-wife (but not his cousin-wife) might shed some light on the reason behind the former New York City mayor’s unwillingness to rat on Trump.

The Guardian recounted a story found in Andrew Kirtzman’s upcoming book, Giuliani: The Rise and Tragic Fall of America’s Mayor, in which Judith Giuliani — who was married to Rudy from 2003 to 2019 (but, again, is not his cousin, though she is currently suing him) — told the author about a time when Trump seemed to show… dare we say compassion?! This surprising bit of empathy came in 2008, following Rudy’s failed presidential run, which led Giuliani into a deep depression that saw him drinking to excess. Recovery came in the form of a month-long stay at Trump’s Palm Beach home and golf course. “We moved into Mar-a-Lago and Donald kept our secret,” Judith says in the book.

Judith, who is a nurse, recognized that her then-husband needed help. ​“She said he started to drink more heavily,” according to Kirtzman. “While Giuliani was always fond of drinking scotch with his cigars while holding court at the Grand Havana or Club Mac, his friends never considered him a problem drinker. Judith felt he was drinking to dull the pain.”

Today, stories of Rudy’s taste for tipple are kind of legendary, though he has always insisted he does not have a drinking problem. Still, many Trump insiders have claimed that The Big Lie really started on Election Night 2020, when an allegedly shitfaced Rudy convinced Trump — who had lost — to simply declare that he had won. Which admittedly sounds like the kind of brilliant plan one would have to be inebriated to come up with. Rudy, for his part, swears that he “refused all alcohol” on that evening and only consumed Diet Pepsi.

As for his 2008 stay at Mar-a-Lago: The Guardian reports that he mentioned it to The New York Times once in 2018, when he said that following his loss in the GOP presidential primary, he and his wife “spent a month at Mar-a-Lago, relaxing.”

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced the worst-case scenario for Chet Holmgren‘s foot injury. In a statement released by the team on Thursday morning, the Thunder indicated that Holmgren suffered a Lisfranc injury in his right foot that will cost him the entirety of the 2022-23 season. Holmgren suffered the injury last week while playing in Jamal Crawford’s pro-am, The CrawsOver.

Here is a video of Holmgren appearing to suffer the injury. It came early on in the game — which was called in the second quarter due to condensation on the floor — when Holmgren attempted to play defense against LeBron James. He came up limping immediately after and went right to the bench before leaving the gym.

“Certainly, we are disappointed for Chet, especially given the excitement he had about getting on the floor with his teammates this season,” Thunder executive Sam Presti said in a statement. “We know Chet has a long career ahead of him within our organization and the Oklahoma City community. One of the things that most impressed us during the process of selecting Chet was his determination and focus. We expect that same tenacity will carry him through this period of time as we work together and support him during his rehabilitation.”

The Thunder selected Holmgren with the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft after one productive season at Gonzaga.

As expected, the far-right is not down with Biden’s (modest) student loan debt forgiveness plan. The Daily Wire creator Ben Shapiro got his butt handed to him after people pointed out his own forgiven federal loan, and a whole host of Republicans (including MAGA cheerleader Marjorie Taylor Greene) are hopping mad that people are seeing a drop in the bucket of relief ($10,000 for most federal loan borrowers) against a predatory lending scheme.

As one might expect, Lauren Boebert is also ready to pull out her guns over this development, proving that she didn’t learn after being piled onto after she seconded former Trump Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’s call to abolish the Education Department. And really, there’s nothing wrong with getting a GED, but Boebert famously secured hers less than a year before her House election. She has subsequently refused to study up on what she needs to know as a lawmaker (an understanding of civics and the U.S. Constitution beyond the Second Amendment). Boebert is also so good at mismanaging money — she used campaign funds to pay rent and reportedly bought breast implants with money that should have paid her Shooters’ Grill employees — that it’s rather rich of her to bash the smallest amount of debt forgiveness for education.

“I loved paying back my student loans so much that I want to do it for other people,” the rooting’ tootin’ lawmaker tweeted. “[S]aid by no one ever.”

Let’s just say that Boebert probably should have stayed out of this fight. Again, there’s nothing wrong with holding a GED, but it does give people ammunition when said GED holder (who is bad at managing money) decides to bash people who inadvertently signed up for a lifetime of debt to advance their own education. And she’s being compared to Madison Cawthorn for that level of hypocrisy, too.

There are no real winners in this argument, but Boebert clearly should have stuck to tweeting about guns this week.

Well, this is a surprise. After releasing their fourth studio album, Forgiveness, earlier this year, it seemed as though Girlpool were entering a new phase of the band. But today, we’ve learned that it’s quite the opposite as the duo of Avery Tucker and Harmony Tividad announced that Girlpool is breaking up.

“After 9 years, we have decided to take a break from Girlpool and go our separate ways as songwriters,” they said in a statement.

Taylor Swift is currently dealing with her notorious “Shake It Off” lawsuit, in which two songwriters accused the singer of plagiarizing their lyrics from their song “Playas Gonna Hate.” Now, she’s being sued by the author Teresa La Dart, who’s accusing Swift of stealing the design from her 2010 book Lover for her 2019 album of the same title.

La Dart is demanding an “excess of one million dollars” from Swift for copying her with her own book Lover, an accompaniment to a special edition Lover CD. Aside from the title, La Dart pointed out that similarities included “pastel pinks and blues” and pictures of the author “photographed in a downward pose.”

La Dart’s lawyer shared this statement with Pitchfork:

“It has been a bizarre day as this was filed less than 24 hours ago. Glad to provide some insight as many commentators seem to think this was poorly undertaken. Initially, it is important to note Miss La Dart feels strongly that her full work needs to be compared with that of Miss Swift’s before a conclusion is made here. Secondly, this decision was not made nor taken lightly considering the other side is quite formidable. Lastly, this was a recent consideration and this filing was made ostensibly to reserve Miss La Dart’s rights (primarily at this point) since yesterday was the date the statute of limitations closed. Hope the masses can understand these issues from her perspective, in other words.”

In a blink and you’ll miss it moment, the sidebar has a link to an article that has Marvel fans going wild on social media because it sure seems like a confirmation that Wolverine is already running the MCU.

“Man fights with metal claws in bar brawl,” the headline reads, which sounds a heck of a lot like the X-Men‘s most famous member. As you can see below, Marvel fans are losing their mind over the Easter egg, and there’s also some love for the Eternals reference nestled just below the Wolvie headline:

After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the season finale of Ms. Marvel, the She-Hulk Easter egg is now the third reference to mutants existing in the MCU. As for using She-Hulk to lay the groundwork for Wolverine, that actually jibes with the Canuck’s comic book roots. He first debuted in Incredible Hulk #180 where the clawed mutant and the strongest Avenger did battle while separately hunting the Wendigo. However, with Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner once again vanishing into space, maybe Wolverine’s first fight will be with Banner’s recently super-powered cousin.

Alex Holder had unprecedented access to the very normal Trump family while making, well, Unprecedented, the latest documentary from the British filmmaker. To promote the miniseries being available on Discovery+ (or whatever the f*ck it’s going to be called this time next year), Holder took part in a Reddit Ask Me Anything.

“I miraculously secured access to the Trump family and was able to follow Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka, and the former President around the country during the final weeks of the Trump 2020 reelection campaign as well as the final weeks of the Trump administration,” he wrote as an introduction. “My world has been flipped upside down since Politico caught wind that Congress was interested in my footage. Now with 2 subpoenas, more projects than I could imagine, and almost 40k Twitter followers, my opportunities have skyrocketed.” Holder confirmed that a day in the life of the Trumps is a “total sh*t show,” but you knew that already. No wonder Holder compared them to the Roys from Succession. During his decades in the public eye, Ozzy Osbourne has been totally open about his frequent drug use. In the early 1970s, though, there was an incident that convinced him to stop using LSD.

In a new Classic Rock feature about the making of Black Sabbath’s 1972 album Vol. 4, Osbourne discussed an extended moment with a horse that talked (in his mind, at least):

“[The band] lived together in a house in Los Angeles, rehearsed there, did loads of drugs and made an album: simple. Those were good times. At that time in America, people were very fond of lacing your drinks with acid. I didn’t care. I used to swallow handfuls of tabs at a time.

The end of it came when we got back to England. I took 10 tabs of acid then went for a walk in a field. I ended up standing there talking to this horse for about an hour. In the end the horse turned ’round and told me to f*ck off. That was it for me.”

Osbourne’s health hasn’t been the best in recent years. In mid-2021, he said, “These past two years, I’ve been in a terrible f*cking state. I’ve struggling with this f*cking broken neck, looks like I’m in for more surgery. I’m in physical therapy right now.”

It’s pretty simple, really: Ken Jennings will host the new season from Jeopardy! from September until December, at which point Mayim Bialik will take over. That’s it. But it’s a concept that a stranger couldn’t seem to grasp during an awkward encounter with Bialik.

“I went to the lobby of where I was filming this Jeopardy! shoot today and [a] man was wearing a mask and I was with [my assistant],” Bialik said in a video on Instagram. “[She] said to the man, ‘We’re here for a Jeopardy! shoot.’ The guy says ‘Oh, are you going to be on the show?’ and it was kind of awkward.” The former-The Big Bang Theory and Blossom star told the guy that she’s also a host, “and he was like ‘What about Ken Jennings?’ And I said ‘Well, we actually share duties.’ And he was like ‘Oh.’”

The Call Me Kat leading lady went on to explain that the man said he was from Canada just like Alex Trebek was. In the end, it seems like she laughed off the encounter. Mayim’s fans, of course, were nothing but supportive despite the awkward moment.

At least he wasn’t there to meet Mike Richards.

Bialik doesn’t take over for Jennings on regular Jeopardy! until next January, but she will host Celebrity Jeopardy! beginning September 25.

Earlier this month, Michelle Branch found herself in an unfortunate situation. On August 11, she publicly accused husband Patrick Carney (drummer of The Black Keys) of infidelity, tweeting, “Just found out my husband cheated on me with his manager […] while I was home with our 6 month old daughter.” Shortly after that tweet, Branch was arrested and charged with domestic assault after she, per her own admission, slapped Carney in the face “one to two times.” After the arrest, Branch officially filed for divorce.

Between the split and the assault case, Branch has a legal journey ahead of her, but it just got a bit easier: Billboard reports that on Wednesday (August 24), the domestic assault case was “dismissed at the request of the state.” TMZ reports they obtained the disposition and say the reasons for the dismissal are unclear.

After the news of the alleged cheating broke, Branch said in a statement, “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family. The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”
