Rookies in the NBA, particularly those who go high in the draft, will have a few moments every year that remind fans why they are such highly-regarded prospects. But far more frequently, those young dudes will take their lumps, as the jump from college to the NBA is the biggest jump that someone can take in the sport.

The worst of these are affectionately known as welcome to the NBA moments, and on many occasions, these come when they get matched up against the very best guys in the league. In a surprise twist, Paolo Banchero got to experience one of those moments before he even played in an official NBA game, thanks to Dejounte Murray and an annual summer tournament put on by Isaiah Thomas.

Banchero and Murray went up against one another during a game at Zeke-End this weekend, and at one point, Murray got Banchero to bite on a pump fake. Instead of just shooting, Murray had a little fun at Banchero’s expense before tossing himself a lob off the glass and throwing down.

Murray even posted the video to his Instagram account and told Banchero “WELCOME TO THE BIG LEAGUES!!!!!!”

Hopefully for Banchero’s sake he’ll be able to find a way to get Murray back when the Orlando Magic and the Atlanta Hawks play during the 2022-23 season.

The Rick and Morty team has always thought way, way, way outside the box. One reason it’s so popular is how much creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon enjoy confounding expectations. The sixth season is nearly upon us, which Roiland has promised is better than the fifth, which he (at least) found a bit disappointing. But it begins, in early September, there’s some…thing en route. And it has to do with worms. Or something.

As caught by The A.V. Club, the Rick and Morty team released a cryptic 15-second video. Entitled “A Citadel Secret,” it features some kind of egg or orb floating in a vertical tank in some lab. The computers start short-circuiting. Fire erupts. The tank starts cracking. And the show’s official website gets prominently listed.

What does it all mean? Well, the Citadel is the former interdimensional hub that connected scores of Ricks and Mortys — until it was destroyed by Evil Morty in last season’s finale. But the biggest clue comes from actually going to the website. There, one will encounter a countdown clock, promising something on or about August 18th, about two weeks before the next season premiere. That something? It’s called “Wormageddon.”

Presumably that means there will be lots of worms, right? Well, Rick and Morty is usually not that obvious. What’s more, why is “Wormageddon” arriving well before the Sept. 4 premiere? Who knows! Until then, all one can do is sit and wait — and wonder how long it will take for Roiland and company to achieve their promise of dozens more episodes.

The Seattle Storm will end the 2022 WNBA regular season with three consecutive road games. That means Sunday afternoon is an important one in the Pacific Northwest, as the team’s game against the Las Vegas Aces will mark the final time that legendary guard Sue Bird will step on the floor in front of her hometown fans for a regular season contest.

Bird, who has spent her entire 21-year career with the Storm after going No. 1 overall in the 2002 WNBA Draft, announced her intention to retire at the conclusion of the season back in June. While she’ll still take the floor at Climate Pledge Arena during the postseason — the Storm have already clinched a playoff berth — Sunday was used as a chance to celebrate a legend whose laundry list of accomplishments has no parallel. And before the game, the Storm surprised Bird by having her family line the tunnel as she made her way to the floor.

Before the game, Bird received a gigantic ovation from a record crowd — the team announced that more than 18,000 fans packed into the stadium, the most that have ever been in attendance for a Storm home game.

One fan, in particular, wanted to take an extra moment to express her gratitude for Bird, as she handed the four-time WNBA champion a flower right before she inbounded the ball during the first quarter.

A new three-part Netflix documentary called Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99, dives deep into the chaos that ensued during the 30th-anniversary celebration of the iconic 1969 music festival. Over the course of the series, viewers will see riots, destruction, and instances of sexual assault, which, for several years, had been attributed to the performers. Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit was one of the infamous acts on the bill.

Specifically, Limp Bizkit’s song “Break Stuff,” which contains the lyrics, “It’s just one of those days when you don’t wanna wake up /
Everything is f*cked, everybody sucks / You don’t really know why, but you wanna justify / Rippin’ someone’s head off,” is often referenced when people talk about Woodstock ’99.

One moment of Limp Bizkit’s performance that often goes overlooked is when Durst says, ”We already let all the negative energy out. It’s time to bring some positive energy into this motherfucker.”

In a 2012 interview, Durst reflected on this statement, saying, “I don’t think [the crowd] understood what I meant. OK, let’s get rid of all that negative energy so we can bring positive in. That means start jumping — jumping and singing. It doesn’t mean start raping and burning the place down.”

Over the years, Durst has maintained that the destruction that took place was neither his fault, nor that of the other performers, but rather the festival organizers. A 50th-anniversary celebration of Woodstock was planned for 2019, but eventually cancelled. That year, Durst spoke with Variety, saying “It’s easy to point the finger and blame [us], but they hired us for what we do — and all we did is what we do. I would turn the finger and point it back to the people that hired us.”

Jim Jordan is one of the more controversial Republicans in Congress these days, which is saying something. He’s no Marjorie Taylor Greene or Lauren Boebert or Matt Gaetz, who together have been dubbed Beavis and Butt-Head. But one critic took his distaste with him too far.

As per Insider, Richard John Steinle, a 77-year-old man from Ohio, was arrested on Friday after being accused of mailing dozens of letters to Republican lawmakers laced with poop. One of them was sent to Jordan. In the letters, Steinle called his targets racists and names like “pig.” Each letter was laced with feces.

Postal workers first caught wind of Steinle’s crap-streaked letters in July. They alerted federal investigators, who staked out the man’s home for five days. Eventually they trailed him to a mailbox, where they caught him putting on gloves and dropping off a letter. Upon obtaining the letter, they found it indeed contained Steinle’s defecations.

Steinle is accused of sending 25 excretion-laced letters in total starting in August of 2021. He is facing a misdemeanor charge, which carries with it up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Jordan last made news when he spread misinformation about a 10-year-old girl from Ohio who was raped by a relative and refused an abortion. He refused to apologize.

NBA Youngboy may not be getting off probation or house arrest as soon as we thought. Last month, he was ordered to take a drug test as part of his pretrial requirements, however, was reported to have made several excuses to get out of testing. He did eventually submit to a drug test, however, was allegedly caught attempting to use fake urine, according to documents obtained by AllHipHop.

“During the screen, the observing officer noticed a device was being used to allow the urine into the testing cup,” said the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana. “When questioned, the defendant pulled up his pants quickly. The defendant denied using a device and would not comply with the officer’s attempts to view the device. The defendant was informed that the test would be negated, and a second sample would be required. After the request, the defendant was allowed to get water. The defendant was instructed to remain in the lobby and not leave for any reason; however, the defendant left the office without permission prior to providing a second sample.”

The rapper admitted that he had been vaping, and had also allegedly violated the terms of his probation by going to a recording studio in California without receiving permission from his probation officer. Because of this, the U.S. Attorney’s Office is pushing to keep Youngboy on house arrest.

Youngboy is currently on house arrest in Los Angeles, despite being acquitted of gun charges. He currently has pending gun charges Baton Rouge, his hometown.

Earlier this week, Britney Spears‘ ex-husband Kevin Federline spoke with Daily Mail and discussed where he and their two sons stand. He explained that their sons have supposedly decided to distance themselves from Spears following her recent nude posts on Instagram.

“The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now. It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding.”

Spears caught wind of these comments, and later took to her Instagram story, and slammed Federline’s comments, noting that she was hurt by the fact that her sons’ supposed choice to stay with their father was due to her posts.

“It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children …” said Britney. “As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone .. It concerns me the fact that the reason is based on my Instagram … it was LONG before Instagram … I gave them everything. Only one word: HURTFUL … l’Il say it … My mother told me ‘You should GIVE them to their dad.’ I’m sharing this because I can. Have a good day folks!!!”

Spears husband, Sam Asghari, also expressed his disappointment on his Instagram story, saying that Federline’s claims are untrue.

“There is not validity to his statement regarding the kids distancing themselves and it is irresponsible to make that statement publicly,” Asghari said. “The boys are very smart and will be 18 soon to make their own decisions and may eventually realize the ‘tough’ part was having a father who hasn’t worked much in over 15 years as a role model.”

He continued, saying, “Kevin’s gravy train will end soon wich probably explains the timing of these hurtful statements. I do not know him personally and have nothing against him aside him chosing to vilify my wife. His character is revealed by approval of the cruel 13 year (conservatorship) and his loyalty to Jaimie indicates his approval at time of its conception as well.”

The Predator prequel Prey hit Hulu this weekend, and it’s revitalized a sometimes troubled franchise. It’s scored the best reviews of the series and it’s even got a great (if sometimes pesky) movie dog. Among the fans is one of the actors from the 1987 original who went on to become a governor. No, not Schwarzenegger. The other thespian-turned-politician (who was also a wrestler).

On Saturday, Jesse Ventura — the WWF star who played one of the original film’s victims and went on to become the governor of Minnesota — took to Twitter to offer fulsome praise of the latest addition to the Predator franchise.

“Great, great, film,” Ventura wrote, saying that star Amber Midthunder, who plays a Comanche warrior who battles the well-armed alien hunter, “definitely ain’t got time to bleed.” He also welcomed director Dan Trachtenberg “to the Predator family,” adding, “Thank you for making a such a thoughtful, creative, and wonderful film.”

Ventura can be a hard moviegoer to please. He once slammed American Sniper, Clint Eastwood’s biopic about Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, albeit without seeing it. But he didn’t exactly have to: He’d known the real Kyle and he disputed claims made about him in the book that inspired the movie, which ended with him winning a defamation suit. In a statement, Ventura implied that Kyle was a man without honor.

After a year-long hiatus as a group, Blackpink is gearing up for a comeback soon. Ahead of their upcoming album, Born Pink, the K-Pop group has announced the project’s “pre-release single.” Their new song, “Pink Venom,” will arrive later this month.

The group announced the single on social media this morning, with a poster revealing drop dates and times for both Korea and the United States.

Blackpink has remained rather mum with details on Born Pink, however, songwriter and OneRepublic lead vocalist Ryan Tedder revealed he contributed to the album during an interview with Good Morning America.

“I can’t tell you what’s coming out. I think one or two of my songs have made the album… From what I’ve been told, and the stuff that I did with them, I can just say is very true to their sound.” He later revealed that he’s a big fan of the girl group, admitting, “I’ve got their posters all over my wall, my wife thinks it’s weird.”

It’s not a good time to be Alex Jones right now. The noted conspiracy theorist lost a high-profile court case and now owes nearly $50 million to the parents of one of the victims of the Sandy Hook school massacre, which he has long claimed was fake. He’s desperately looking for someone to blame for his legal headaches, and has already floated the idea of suing some of his previous lawyers in other failed cases. But one of his fellow MAGA insiders thinks he should also target his most recent attorney.

As per The Daily Beast, Roger Stone — who’s already gone to bat for him, begging InfoWars viewers to give him money — is advising Jones to go after F. Andino Reynal, his lawyer in the recent Sandy Hook case. Along with not winning his client’s case, Reynal also accomplished an incredible feat: He accidentally sent the entire contents of Jones’ phone to his opposing attorney. Not only did that include incriminating evidence about that case, but it’s also been sought by the Jan. 6 committee.

Stone even aired his own conspiracy theory. “Note the first line in the bio of the lawyer representing Alex Jones,” Stone wrote on Telegram, referring to the fact that Reynal was appointed to a federal prosecutor post by former Obama attorney general Eric Holder. “Now do you think his release of Jones text messages was ‘inadvertent’ or a mistake? If I were Jones I would sue this guy for the exact same amount that the jury finds against him.”

Well, at least it appears Stone doesn’t bear Jones any ill will for crashing one of his InfoWars appearances with a shirtless cameo.
