Foo Fighters Unveil The Soaring Rocker ‘Today’s Song,’ Their First New Single In Two Years

We haven’t had new music from Foo Fighters since their latest album, 2023’s But Here We Are. But, here we are in 2025, where the group is celebrating 30 years of existence. To mark the occasion, Dave Grohl and company have released a new song, “Today’s Song.”

Grohl’s daughter Harper created the art used for the single cover.

Grohl also shared a lengthy message that reflects on former band members, including Taylor Hawkins and Josh Freese. It reads in part:

“Over the years, we’ve had moments of unbridled joy, and moments of devastating heartbreak. Moments of beautiful victory, and moments of painful defeat. We have mended broken bones and broken hearts. But we have followed this road together, with each other, for each other, no matter what. Because in life, you just can’t go it alone.

It should go without saying that without the boundless energy of William Goldsmith, the seasoned wisdom of Franz Stahl, and the thunderous wizardry of Josh Freese, this story would be incomplete, so we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the time, music, and memories that we shared with each of them over the years. Thank you, gentlemen.

And… Taylor. Your name is spoken every day, sometimes with tears, sometimes with a smile, but you are still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever. The enormity of your beautiful soul is only rivaled by the infinite longing we feel in your absence. We all miss you beyond words. Foo Fighters will forever include Taylor Hawkins in every note that we play, until we do finally reach our destination.”

LaRussell Pits Drake Classics Against Each Other On A New ‘Sound Check’

LaRussell’s schedule is busier than just about anybody’s, but he put some time aside to visit Uproxx Studios and be the latest guest on Sound Check. The new episode arrives shortly after the June release of Good Ethika, LaRussell’s whopping seventh new album of 2025. Host Jeremy Hecht put quite the challenge in front of LaRussell, tasking him to choose between two of his own songs. LaRussell also looked outward as he made some other tough selections, picking between Prince and Michael Jackson, Kendrick Lamar and Tyler The Creator, and even Drake and… Drake.

Here’s how it works: Jeremy plays two songs for the guest artist, who has to choose one and explain their choice, giving Jeremy a chance to learn their musical taste. Jeremy then has to guess the artist’s life anthem, the song they’d take to a desert island, which the guest wrote down earlier on a piece of paper. Our production team has also given him a decoy song, and Jeremy has to guess which is correct based on what he’s learned in the previous rounds.

Watch LaRussell take on the Sound Check challenge above. New episodes of Sound Check drop every Wednesday at noon ET/9 a.m. PT on Uproxx’s YouTube.

Zach Bryan Just Dropped Three New Songs Out Of Nowhere

Zach Bryan is prone to dropping new songs out of nowhere outside of an album cycle. He unveiled “High Road” last year amid relationship drama and shared “Dear Miss” to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl, for example. Now, he’s done it again times three.

As Stereogum notes, Bryan played his first UK festival headline show at BST Hyde Park in London, and during the set, he played an unreleased song called “Streets Of London.”

Bryan promised to release the song on Monday, June 30, but he didn’t. In an Instagram Story, he explained:

“yoooo decided to put two songs out instead of just one it’s gonna take an extra day!! Songs’ll be out Tuesday sorry sorry sorry

They are kind of just tunes that didn’t belong on the record, and they didn’t fit on an EP either, so I’m just releasing them to get them out into the world cause I love them. Hope you guys enjoy them. I love each one of ya!! even the folks who talked mad sh*t all year

also only five people ever have sold out Hyde Park two nights in a row. I have you guys to thank for it. I love you so much for showing out London. I will love your beautiful city and country forever! See you next time!”

The songs didn’t arrive on Tuesday either, but today, he dropped a whopping three new songs.

JID Announces The ‘GDLU Preluxe’ Mixtape With The Athletic ’32’ Freestyle

With his fourth studio album, God Does Like Ugly, peeking over the horizon, JID has gone back to one of his favorite standbys: releasing a fiery freestyle to help promote the project. He dropped “30” back in January 2024 and “31” in October, so of course, his latest is “32.”

The video opens with a scroll running down his accomplishments over the past few years: 3 Grammy nominations, 4.6 billion YouTube views, and cheekily, “best rapper under 100 years old.” The rest of the video features fuzzy VHS footage of his exploits on the football field (he played two seasons of NCAA Division I football at Hampton University before his rap career took off). Funnily enough, did you know JID’s real last name is “Route?” You could say he was born to ball — only now, he does so in a different arena.

While JID has already released two videos to promote God Does Like Ugly — “Bodies” and “WRK” — “32” doesn’t appear to be an offical video for the album. Instead, it’s part of a mixtape he’s releasing on the 4th of July as a prelude to the project titled GDLU Preluxe, presented by JD Sports. Between JID and J. Cole, Dreamville remains on the cutting edge of the overlap between athletics and music.

Watch JID’s video for “32” above.

God Does Like Ugly is due on 8/9 via Dreamville/Interscope. You can find more info here.

Larry June And E-40’s ‘Ya Feel Me’ Video Shows Off The Bay The Player Way

Larry June and Cardo Got Wings have reunited for another project, bringing in Bay legend E-40 on their latest single. The video for “Ya Feel Me” is understated, yet elegant (much like June’s raps), finding the two Californians trading laid-back verses with the Golden Gate Bridge towering in the background. 40 sips from a bottle of his Earl Stevens Selections wine, while Good Job Larry has a glass of his favorite drink, orange juice. And just like both ingredients in a mimosa, they make a damn fine combination.

Mr. June’s had a pretty busy year thus far, teaming up with The Alchemist and 2 Chainz to release Life Is Beautiful, which they supported with songs such as “Bad Choices,” “Munyon Canyon,” “Colossal,” and the title track. Larry also performed on the BET Awards alongside such breakouts as Gelo, GloRilla, and Playboi Carti.

E-40, meanwhile, is coming off a few high-profile performances of his own, including ones at The Roots’ Hollywood Bowl “Class Of ’95” show and the NBA’s All-Star Weekend as a member of a medley highlighting the Bay Area venue, along with Too Short, Saweetie, and En Vogue.

Green Day Kicked A Fan Off Stage For Going Rogue And Playing An Oasis Song

“Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)” is a typical set-closing song at Green Day concerts, and at a show in Luxembourg yesterday (June 30), the band again leaned on the 1997 hit to wrap up their performance. This time, though, they let a fan on stage to play the acoustic guitar, but he went rogue.

For a few lines, the fan played the song as expected while Billie Joe Armstrong sang, but after a while, he stopped and had a chat with the singer. The fan seemingly indicated he didn’t know the entire song before he began strumming Oasis’ “Wonderwall.” Once Armstrong realized what was happening, he said, “Oh, f*ck me,” then took his guitar back from the fan as they were escorted off the stage. Armstrong seemed to be a good sport about the whole thing, as he laughed before saying, “Nice try, nice try.”

Here’s one video of the moment and here’s another.

Oasis’ Liam Gallagher caught wind of the situation, tweeting in response to the video, “Best song of the night.”

Green Day had a much better fan-on-stage experience at Coachella earlier this year, when a fan joined Armstrong in singing “Know Your Enemy” and had an unforgettable moment.

Gunna Trains For Glory In His Motivational ‘Won’t Stop’ Video

Gunna takes his fitness very seriously in his new video. In the motivational “Won’t Stop” visual, the Atlanta employs the latest sports science, running, lifting, biking, and more while being monitored by experts and futuristic technology as he trains for glory. The Uproxx Visionary remains linked up with longtime producer Turbo, who also makes a cameo appearance, playing a piano in the courtyard of The (W)rapper building in Los Angeles, which undergoes its own digital makeover in the video to form our hero’s favorite letter, a giant capital “P.”

Gunna appears to be cooking up a new album, following up his 2024 release One Of Wun. In May, he appeared to tease a new project sometime in June. However, it now appears that the date he initially gave was for the release of the first single, while the album itself remains shrouded in mystery. All we know for sure is that he’s working on one, and as usual, expectations are high. One Of Wun debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 driven by the singles “Prada Dem” with Offset and “Whatsapp (Wassam)“, making it his sixth US top-10 album. Can he top it? Hopefully, we’ll find out sometime this year.

‘Sentimental Value’: Everything To Know So Far About The New Stellan Skarsgård And Elle Fanning Movie

Sentimental Value trailer top
YouTube

Danish-born Norwegian director and writer Joachim Trier earned his first Oscar nomination for his most recent movie, 2021’s The Worst Person In The World. It’s been a few years since then, but Trier has spent that time working on his next project, which is set to arrive soon: a new movie called Sentimental Value.

The early returns indicate it’s one to really look forward to, as at Cannes this year, it was a Palme d’Or contender (and Grand Prix winner). Trier told Variety that after his movie’s big festival premiere, he was “grateful and a bit exhausted, but most of all relieved,” and in that same chat, he also described the film as an “emotional, personal piece of cinema.”

Ahead of the movie’s release, read on for everything you need to know before it hits theaters.

Plot

The logline reads:

“Sisters Nora and Agnes reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic Gustav, a once-renowned director who offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film. When Nora turns it down, she soon discovers he has given her part to an eager young Hollywood star. Suddenly, the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father — and deal with an American star dropped right into the middle of their complex family dynamics.”

In an interview with Numéro, star Elle Fanning also explained, “I play the role of Rachel Kemp, an American actress hired by Gustav, played by Stellan Skarsgård. He’s a Scandinavian filmmaker living in Norway and preparing to shoot his upcoming movie. He meets me at the Deauville Film Festival and offers me the role. So, I fly to Oslo. Rachel is a bit disoriented. She’s a major Hollywood star, very famous and with a large audience. But she’s at a low point in both her career and life. She’s seeking creativity and a grittier role that will allow her to express her talent and feel something. So, she turns to a foreign filmmaker, but ends up finding herself entangled in a family drama. And we soon discover she might not be the ideal person for the role.”

Cast

The film is led by Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Elle Fanning, Cory Michael Smith, Catherine Cohen, Anders Danielsen Lie, Andreas Stoltenberg Granerud, and Øyvind Hesjedal Loven.

Trier told Cineuropa, “I’ve reached a ‘lucky’ point in my career where I can approach actors of a certain stature — a very lofty one, at that. On that ‘list,’ I have Stellan at the very top.”

Release Date

The film is set to hit theaters in select cities on November 7.
