Britney Spears Recalls The Final Night Before She Was ‘Taken Away’ In An Angry Message To Her Mom

In recent weeks, Britney Spears’ Instagram page has been mostly free of family drama. That changed last night, though, when in a now-deleted post, Britney chose to highlight some text conversations from when she was allegedly forced into a mental health facility in 2019 and detail the night before that happened.

The post itself reads, “It’s a little different with proof … Here are my text messages to my mom in that place 3 years ago … I show it because there was no response … When I got out, her words were ‘You should have let me visit you and give you a hug.’ The second picture is a message to my friend from home … She was supposed to help me get a new lawyer … I never heard back from her … The last picture was a message to the lawyer I didn’t get to pick … I had nobody … PS My sister’s text after not texing for 3 days was ‘They’re not gonna let you go so why are you fighting it’ …”

In a series of texts sent to her mother Lynne Spears, Spears wrote, “He was saying he wants to UP the seraquil and I’m like whoaaaaaaa horsey go f*ck yourslwf. Seraquil i thought was a sleep aid but it’s for bipolar and is WAAAAAY Stronger than lithium. I literally feel all the sick medicine in my stomach … I feel like he’s trying to kill me. I swear to god I do.” Britney’s screenshot shows no response from Lynne.

She also shared a similar conversation with a friend named Jansen, asking for the number of somebody named John Bell and adding, “Also what about the lithium levels in your opinion and it being monitored for so long…. of course they can MAKE UP any excuse to keep doing it but is it really healthy and ok to give blood for THAT LONG … I have a feeling you will say I will be ok but it still doesn’t make sense.”

In a text to her former court-appointed lawyer Samuel D. Ingham, Spears wrote:

“Great I want to talk about going to court when this is done and getting my medical rights ,,, my boyfriend the right to spend the night with me,,, how can I leave early ,,,, the plan I have u for last month or whatever the f*ck these f*cking people want from me … In court my boyfriend needs to be able to see my children …. I’ve been in the for 12 years I want it over …. I woudk like to replace. Two security guards with new …. would like to to have a day in who comes to my house for security … when this program is over I don’t want to work at all … I want to live for me and have an adventurous life … I want asswhole benson to let me drive again I want to go on three vacations this years …. Miami ,,, New York And [illegible].”

Lynne later shared the other side of the story, posting what appears to be a screenshot of Jansen’s Instagram Story. In it, Jansen shares a screenshot indicating they did respond to Britney’s lithium concerns, writing, “This is what I read about it so I at least think u are in a safe range at least. It says they monitor the blood levels so they can keep it in a certain range. I don’t know tons ab lithium so I had to research it. It said if it gets toxic to u u have the symptoms listed in the last text. I texted Mrs Donna and got her quick return ‘out of office’ message that said they were in Washington DC this week and to leave a message and they would return calls when they got back so no luck on getting his number this week and I don’t know anyone else that would have it or give.”

An overlay on the post reads, “The full message and I did respond!! I have always felt like some of my messages were deleted. Please read the bottom.” As for the bottom text, that says:

“My heart is a little broken this morning so I would like to clarify some things….I love my friends more than life itself and would go to the ends of the earth for them. This msg along with THOUSANDS of msgs were sent to the court investigator in 2019 in order to help my friend Britney Spears. We talked daily when she was in her last facility and her mom and I even went to New Orleans and met with an attorney to try and help her because we knew they wouldn’t let us near her! We were also very cautious of what we would write in messages because we had a feeling her phone was being monitored. When she left the facility my phone number was blocked from her and we have never spoken again! I have tried to reach her through every possible outlet and always failed.”

Lynne captioned her post, “Britney, I have all the ‘whole conversations’ as well! I hurt for you that you feel the people who love you the most betrayed you! Let me come to you! I love you!”

After Lynne’s post, Spears fired back. In another post, Spears wrote about alleged mistreatment from her mother and about the night before she entered the mental health facility:

“Yo ma did you also let people know that’s one of the only times you text me back ??? Did you also tell people how you hid coffee every single morning ??? Did you tell them every morning when I would try to find coffee there were no pictures of me up in the kitchen, just Maddie and Jamie Lynn ??? Every single morning I would put a picture of me by you guys … and every morning you would put it away before I woke up !!! Did you tell them how you were at my beach house when I couldn’t even have the keys to my car ??? Did you tell them I was doing 3 AA meetings a week when I hate alcohcl ??? Play the responsible perfect parent and go to church in Louisiana … it’s a joke !!! You all ruined it for me … I don’t ever remember getting a text from you !!! Did you tell them when the conservatorship first started you and Bryan’s wife went out every night and drank wine and got your stupid pictures taken when I couldn’t go anywhere or have my boyfriend anymore ??? You have some nerve showing your texts when you know you guys hurt me so bad its not even funny !!! Did you tell them two weeks prior to the conservatorship being started it was already planned ??? I had you, Miss Jacky, Allie and another friend over the night before they took me away!!! I had done nothing wrong and you kept telling me on my couch we need to go to Malibu cause I think people are coming to get me and I said ‘WHY???’ !!! I didn’t believe you guys … we had a f*cking sleepover the night before !!! It was all planned and you acted like you had no idea what was going on !!! Two weeks later you released a book and showed my heartbreak when Kevin took my kids … you abused me … yes I will say it and it blows my mind that you still play the prayer loving mom !!!”

Every ‘Better Call Saul’ Fan Is Craving Cinnabon After The Latest Episode

When was the last time you had Cinnabon? For me, it was eight years ago at the Las Vegas airport before an early flight. It was the greatest meal of my life, although this glowing review might’ve had something to do with the events of the previous night. No further comment, your honor. Anyway! There is a 98 percent chance that my Cinnabon-less streak will be snapped today, following Monday’s episode of Better Call Saul.

“Nippy” is the first time we’ve checked in on Cinnabon Gene, a.k.a Saul Goodman, a.k.a. Jimmy McGill, since season five’s “Magic Man,” when he’s spotted by Jeff the taxi driver. (If you were confused why Jeff looks different than the last time we saw him, that’s because he was recast between seasons.) Since then, the real-life Cinnabon location in Albuquerque has shut down, requiring the show to rebuild the store from scratch.

“We had incredible help from wonderful, talented Cinnabon people who not only got it up and running, but also showed the actors how to do their thing,” Saul writer and executive producer Alison Tatlock told the Hollywood Reporter. It was a crafty business decision, based on the number of people who are now craving a calorie-soaked cinnamon bun, myself (and ol’ Jerry / Garry / Larry from Parks and Recreation) included.

This is not sponcon for Cinnabon, but if Cinnabon wants to give me free food, I’m available.

Rather Than Oppose Him, Republicans Are Just ‘Waiting For Him To Die,’ Says One Former GOP Lawmaker

The Republican Party has been the party of Donald Trump since mid-2016, when he improbably clinched the presidential nomination. They tried their best to stop him. But some of his fiercest GOP critics only wound up becoming one of his best friends. Most, however, have simply remained silent, and one former Republican lawmaker has gone and said the quiet part loud.

In a new column for The Bulwark (as caught by Raw Story), former RNC spokesperson Tim Miller took his party to task for “humoring” the big guy, expecting that he’d eventually go away. He sure hasn’t. But Miller quotes another member of the party — a former congressman, speaking under anonymity — who lays out the only real plan anyone in the GOP has of expelling the guy who allegedly attacks Secret Service agents and throws food: “We’re just waiting for him to die.”

Miller agrees, saying those in the party won’t grow a backbone. “Instead,” Miller writes, “they will soldier on. Playing the same big game of pretend with our democracy in the balance. After all, the downside for humoring him for just a little more time is likely to be felt by other people. And the upside of humoring? That accrues directly to the Republicans who want power.”

He ends on a mordant note. “But don’t worry,” he writes. “Eventually they’ll be able to tell the truth. Probably. As long as he’s the one who croaks first.”

The Detroit Pistons Are Bringing Back Their Iconic Teal Jerseys For The First Time In Two Decades

The Detroit Pistons are on the precipice of an exciting time for the franchise. No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham showed signs of future stardom during his rookie season, and the Pistons extracted an intriguing haul in the 2022 NBA Draft with Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren. With even more depth including Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart, and others, the Pistons could be quite competitive as soon as this season and, if Detroit does make a real leap in performance, the team will also do so in on-court style.

On Monday, the Pistons announced that, for the first time since 2001, the franchise will use its iconic teal jerseys as the team’s “Classic Edition” uniforms for the 2022-23 campaign.

Shortly after the official announcement, the franchise updated its official social media channels to reflect the throwback look.

Throwback jerseys are usually an easy “win” in terms of PR, but not every concept works as well as this particular uniform does. For most of the initial run of these uniforms, the Pistons were not a dominant team by any means, but many hoop heads have fond memories of Grant Hill, Jerry Stackhouse (who helped unveil the unis) and others donning the teal uniforms and they are absolutely fantastic.

It will be interesting to see how often the Pistons choose to have Cunningham, Ivey, Duren and company wearing these jerseys this season. Regardless, it seems like a safe bet that Detroit will sell buckets of these in the coming months, and jersey diehards will count down until they see these uniforms in action.

John Fetterman Is Daring Millionaire Dr. Oz To Live On The Low Minimum Wage He Has No Interest In Seeing Raised

The Senate race between former TV star Mehmet Oz and current Pennsylvania lieutenant governor John Fetterman has not only been one of the most important in the nation. It’s also been by far the most entertaining. Fetterman is excellent at social media. Oz is not. As such, hilarity has ensued, early and often. Recently he tried to get the longtime New Jersey resident into the state’s hall of fame. Now he has another solid jab.

As per Insider, Fetterman is daring Oz, a millionaire who has tried (and not always successfully) to rebrand himself as a champion of the common man, to live well below what he’s used to. That is, he’s daring him to live on the very low minimum wage he has no interest in seeing raised.

“Another year, still no change to our s*itty $7.25 an hour minimum wage,” Fetterman wrote in a statement. “And because of inflation, the minimum wage today is worth 27% less than it was worth 13 years ago, and 40% less than 1968.”

Fetterman continued: “My opponent Dr. Oz doesn’t care about the people across Pennsylvania who are hurting, and he doesn’t even believe that our embarrassingly low minimum wage needs to be increased.”

Fetterman had a modest proposal. “So since Dr. Oz, who owns 11 homes around the world including several multimillion-dollar mansions, thinks that our minimum wage is a livable wage,” he wrote, “then he should be forced to live on $7.25 an hour so that he can demonstrate to all of us how it’s possible.”

Indeed, the federal minimum wage hasn’t been raised since 2009 — 13 years to the day, as of Sunday. Pennsylvania, where Oz is running, is one of the states hasn’t raised it above the federal minimum. It’s a working class-heavy state, filled with people struggling with not only the pandemic but soaring inflation that may not come down for another year, if not more.

Oz has not done a great job of either defending himself nor of returning fire. What’s more, he occasionally lets slip that the “MAGA movement” is “dying.”

People Are Honoring The Late, Great Paul Sorvino, The Imposing Sweetheart Of ‘Goodfellas,’ ‘Law And Order,’ And More

Paul Sorvino was perhaps best known for playing Paulie Cicero, the imposing capo from Goodfellas, the mafioso higher-up who, as Ray Liotta’s Henry Hill puts it, “may have moved slow, but it was only because Paulie didn’t have to move for anybody.” Paulie never murders anyone, at least onscreen, and he’s known to help people who know they can’t turn to the police. But he’s still a terrifying figure, the guy whose bad side you never want to be on, the guy who will break your heart when he knows he has to turn his back on you.

The real Paul Sorvino, though, was a softie. A veteran of screen and stage, a guy who loved singing opera, a guy who loved his family, including his Oscar-winning daughter Mira. When he passed on Monday, aged 83, of natural causes, the tributes poured in. Mira penned a moving ode.

“My father the great Paul Sorvino has passed. My heart is rent asunder- a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over,” she wrote. “He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much. I’m sending you love in the stars Dad as you ascend.”

His wife Dee Dee, whom he married in 2014, called him the “love of my life,” writing that “the most wonderful man who has ever lived is gone.”

Others shared moments from his life and career. One clip shared by many was when Mira won her Academy Award for Mighty Aphrodite in 1996, turning him into a puddle of tears.

Still, you wouldn’t want to get on Sorvino’s bad side either. In 2017, after Mira revealed that she was one of the women Harvey Weinstein had sexually harassed, her father did not hold back, threatening to beat him if the law didn’t throw him in jail.

People also celebrated his work. Goodfellas came up a lot, including the memorable (and educational!) way he patiently slices garlic with a razor blade.

As did his other work, spanning seven decades, including incredible work in Nixon (in which he played Henry Kissinger), Romeo + Juliet, The Gambler, Reds, Cruising, The Rocketeer, as well as Shakespeare in the Park.

Sorvino was also honored by those who worked with him.

Sorvino’s passing comes a mere two months after that of another Goodfellas actor, Ray Liotta. Pour one out for a real one.

‘Retirement House’ on TikTok shows you’re only as young as you feel

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your grandparents made content on TikTok? As far-fetched as it seems, there are older people who are finding success on the app. Two of the most popular “grandfluencer” accounts are The Old Gays and @ourfillipinograndma. Each account has millions of followers, which proves that old people are just as interesting as younger influencers. And it was because of their popularity that Retirement House was born.

Retirement House is a semiscripted account that stars six actors between the ages of 70 and 85. And while some of it is staged, the actors who play the parts are clearly having a blast. Why shouldn’t they? We have so many preconceived notions about what it means to be over the age of 70, and these six are here to show us that what we believe to be true doesn’t actually have to be. That’s probably why they have more than 3 million followers.

@retirementhouse

We’re baaaack! Welcome to season 2️⃣💜🤪🅿️

♬ original sound – Retirement House

It feels like the account popped up out of nowhere, but that’s not entirely true. Retirement House is the brainchild of 27-year-old Adi Azran and 25-year-old Brandon Chase. “Seniors have been left out of the spotlight in the entertainment industry,” Azran told BuzzFeed News.

They originally conceived the show as something more scripted, as you can see in some of their earlier videos. According to the BuzzFeed article, Azran and Chase haven’t entirely given up on that idea, but they’re currently focusing on building a more solid platform. The videos are very typical TikTok content—the retirees do their own takes on popular TikTok trends.

So, who are these adorable senior citizens? There’s Larry, Curtis, Mabel, Eugene, Rose and Bubbe. They “live” (rent by the hour) a mansion in West Hollywood where they seem to cavort around, getting into shenanigans. They pretend they have a clue what’s happening in the world of pop culture, which is really cute.

“I don’t know about ‘sick’ and ‘dope.’ My character and I are not hip,” Chuck Lacey, who plays Eugene, told BuzzFeed. “I mentioned the Fonz and no one knew who I was talking about, but I didn’t know who Jack Harlow was.”

In one recent video, they do their own take on the “gentleminions” trend, where they declare “good thing we’re not teens” as they strut down the street in their finest. Rose is even eating a banana, the favorite treat of the Minions. They may not have a clue what exactly their videos mean, but it’s fun to watch them.

@retirementhouse

we got y’all 😈

♬ Rich Minion – Yeat

Honestly, why would a bunch of septuagenarians know anything about current pop culture? I’m in my 30s and I don’t even understand most of these TikTok trends. That doesn’t mean I don’t find it adorable to watch a bunch of seniors pretend to know what the new Drake album sounds like. You will find it endearing to see Bubbe do the splits or watch Eugene dance. (I won’t share it here, but there’s a whole video of Mabel and Rose flipping each other off, and it’s hilarious.)

“You see so many stories of older people that are not happy, because as you get older, you lose friends, you lose relatives, you don’t have people to share your life with,” Reatha Grey, who plays Rose, told The New York Times. “We’re actually building shared memories together — and it’s on videotape.”

@retirementhouse

making tiktoks for 3.8 million of you and being featured in new york times, abc news, good day LA. love you all! my grandkids know im cool now 😉

♬ Cool Kids (Sped-Up Version) – Echosmith

That’s one of the best things about Retirement House. You get to see a bunch of older people having a good time together. Who cares if they don’t know who Jack Harlow is? They’ve lived long enough and been through enough that they get a pass. What we find entertaining is that they’re willing to put themselves out there. Society keeps telling us that there’s something shameful about aging—we’re supposed to be afraid of getting older and life changes. But these six people are living their best lives right now, and it feels like they’re thumbing their noses at the establishment in a way that’s reserved for people much younger.

“you’re the bomb. I’m 52 and you give me hope,” one user commented on TikTok.

“I dont know what I did good in life to deserve this side of TT but I’m grateful to be here and I’m never leaving 🥰🥺😅” said another.

Scripted or not, they’re having a good time, and that’s all that matters.

Intense video shows a humpback whale breaching on top of a fishing boat

It’s fairly common for people to share videos of a large whale swimming by a boat or coming close to a kayak, but it’s extremely rare for a whale to make direct contact with the vessel.

A new video that is both terrifying and exhilarating shows a humpback whale breaching atop a 19-foot fishing boat. The good news, according to NBC10 Boston, is that no one was hurt and the boat wasn’t seriously damaged. A full-grown humpback whale can grow up to 52 feet long and weigh up to 80,000 pounds so it could do some serious damage.

The incident happened on Sunday, July 24, off the coast of Plymouth, Massachusetts.

“The boat was in the right place at the wrong time. This could have been much worse for all involved,” Plymouth Harbormaster Chad Hunter told NBC10 Boston. “Children like to lean over the side of the boat to watch the fish so it is very lucky that nobody got hurt here. An incident like this is pretty rare but very dangerous to boaters.”

The whale and the boat were in the same place at the same time, most likely for identical reasons. The harbormaster said there were a lot of boats in the area over the weekend because there was an abundance of bait fish in the water. The fish probably attracted the whale as well.

Whales are relatively common in the waters off Massachusetts in the months of April through October and then they migrate to warmer waters as winter approaches.

‘Jeopardy!’ Is Reportedly Just Going To Keep Having Mayim Bialik And Ken Jennings Swap Hosting Duties For The Foreseeable Future

Last summer, Jeopardy! — the brianiac’s game show — finally ran into major controversy. No, we don’t mean people taking umbrage with Matt Amodio’s controversial answering habit. We mean Mike “Not Michael” Richards, the producer who made a disastrous attempt to take over permanent hosting duties. Since then, the show has alternated between two of the most popular fill-in hosts: Mayim Bialik and all-time champion Ken Jennings. This was supposed to be a temporary solution. But now it’s going to be temporary for a bit longer.

Sources tell Deadline that Jeopardy! top brass has decided that they’re going to stick with the two-host format they’ve had since autumn of last year, signing them up for the show’s 39th season. That means Jennings and Bialik are effectively tag team hosts: She holds down the fort for a stretch, then pass it off to him, rinse, wash, repeat. The decision has yet to be confirmed by Jeopardy! highers-up.

After the passing of Alex Trebek, who hosted the show since 1984 until his death in late 2020, Jennings was the first person to fill in as a temporary replacement. Bialik was one of a number of guest hosts to take over in early 2021. Aside from the Mike Richards drama of last summer, Jeopardy! has mostly (but not always) been a fount of good news, including multiple big-time winners having record runs. So maybe it’s best not to mess with something that’s working, as least not yet.
