More than three years ago, the music world was shocked by the news of 21 Savage’s Immigration And Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrest. In a statement following his arrest, ICE revealed that the rapper was actually from the United Kingdom and that he came to the United States legally on a visa in July 2005. The visa expired in July 2006 and Savage unlawfully stayed in the country. Savage later received help from Jay-Z and Roc Nation as he was later released from ICE custody. As of today, the case has not been fully resolved as Savage is still in a fight for legal immigration status.

During a recent appearance on My Expert Opinion with Math Hoffa, 21 Savage spoke about the arrest and revealed that Meek Mill had a hand in getting him legal assistance. “They detained me ’cause they said I had felony conviction, but the felony conviction got dismissed,” Savage explained. “And I called Meek while I was in jail and told Meek, ‘Bro, I just got locked up.’ [Meek] called Jay-Z, and Jay-Z put a lawyer on my case … [he] played a role in getting me out of there.” He then shared his gratitude for the help Jay-Z gave him to fight the case.

[Jay’s] ain’t just doing that shit for anybody, just ’cause you rap …,” Savage said. “It’s like you gotta be from a certain cloth … I don’t feel like he’s just doing that for anybody. I ain’t Roc Nation or any of that sh*t.”

The most recent update in Savage’s case came in April. His lawyer Charles Kuck revealed that a 2020 charge for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm was affected his fight for legal immigration status. As a result, the immigration case was put on pause until the charges could be resolved.

After getting run out of the building in Game 2, the Celtics came back home clearly looking to make a statement against the Warriors in Game 3. With both rims properly set to 10 feet, Boston came out on fire to start the game, jumping all over Golden State to take as much as a 15-point lead in the first quarter.

Keying the early run for Boston was Jaylen Brown, who knocked down his first three shots on the way to a 17-point first quarter.

The Celtics would open their lead up to as many as 18 in the second quarter, as the Warriors finally got their offense going but could not get any stops against a Boston team clearly looking to push the tempo and use their athleticism to their advantage. Where Brown was lethal scoring, Tatum started the night facilitating as Golden State sent extra attention his way and he accepted it and found the open teammate, before eventually asserting his scoring will.

The lone bright spot for the Warriors in the first half was Klay Thompson shaking off his shooting woes as he got himself going in the second quarter on the way to a 15-point half, keeping Boston from completely running away with the game.

Golden State would trail by 12 at halftime, and at that point everyone was awaiting whether they would find the same third quarter dominance they had in the first two games of the series. Sure enough, the Warriors came out swinging out of the locker room, led by Stephen Curry who brought Golden State all the way back into their first lead of the game at 83-82.

However, Boston would find a response they hadn’t had in previous third quarters on the road, stemming the tide at least a bit to only lose the quarter by eight and take a four-point edge to the fourth. As was the case early in the game, Boston was able to pull ahead by double digits once again thanks to some improved defensive effort, holding the Warriors to just 11 points in the quarter as the Celtics ran away to a 116-100 win.

The exclamation point on the victory came in the form of an Al Horford to Robert Williams lob, that precipitated both teams emptying the benches in a double-digit game with just over two minutes to play.

For Boston, it was an impressive bounceback performance as their stars led the way, with Tatum (26 points, nine assists, six rebounds) and Brown (27 points, nine rebounds, five assists) putting forth terrific all-around games. They got a big boost from Marcus Smart (24 points, seven rebounds, five assists), who continues to be something of a barometer for the Celtics’ offense’s overall success, and much improved two-way efforts from Al Horford and Grant Williams, who each reached double figures.

On the Warriors side, they finally saw Klay get going (25 points, 5-of-13 from three) and Curry continues to play well (31 points, 6-of-11 from three), but Draymond Green was dreadful and fouled out with just two points, one game removed from a scintillating defensive performance, and their bench gave them nothing with 18 combined points. They’ll need to find a more balanced attack and get a much better defensive effort, headed by Green, if they’re to snag Game 4 and reclaim homecourt advantage, if not they’ll go back to San Francisco facing elimination.

J. Cole is finding his rhythm during his second gig in a professional basketball league. Last month, the Dreamville rapper signed a contract with the Scarborough Shooting Stars as a part of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. This came after he briefly signed with the Rwanda Patriots as a part of the Basketball Africa League during the summer of 2021. Cole’s time with the Shooting Stars has been going well, and earlier this week, Cole had the best came of his career in a 99-81 win against the Newfoundland Growlers.

In the game, which took place on Tuesday, Cole stepped in and knocked down two 3-point shots for a career-high of six points during 19 minutes of play during the game. Cole also snagged two rebounds and logged one steal in the win. Afterward, Cole took to Instagram to celebrate his game. “Shattered my previous career high,” he wrote in an Instagram caption with laughing and praying hands emojis.

Cole’s success with the Shooting Stars has come mostly from behind the three-point line. In his debut with the team, Cole scored his first basket from behind the arc. The June 7 game for the Shooting Stars made for their second win of the season bringing their win-loss record 2-3 on the season.

The long-threatened hearings for the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot begin tomorrow night, and it will be aired on every major place, save, of course, Fox News. Though its members have long promised a big show, it has little chance of ending with Trump escorted to jail. The committee simply doesn’t have the power to punish those accountable. But what they can do it tee up reams of lawsuits that could leave Donald Trump — and some of his cronies, including those in Congress — with nothing.

Indeed, the committee has amassed what one of its members has called “the biggest data effort in the history of congressional investigations,” including interviews with more than 1,000 witnesses and at least 14,000 documents. That could help lawsuits that are already in action, like the one from eight Capitol Hill officers attacked on the fateful day, who are suing Trump, his campaign, Roger Stone, the Proud Boys, and others who were involved.

“What the committee can’t do is hold people accountable. But that’s where criminal prosecutions and civil litigation comes in,” Edward G. Caspar, that group’s attorney, told The Daily Beast. “If you think of the three means of seeking accountability for those responsible for the attack—congressional hearings, criminal prosecution, civil litigation—they’re like a three-legged stool. The committee can shine a very bright light on the evidence and present it to the public. That’s something the others can’t do.”

In other words, they’ll provide attorneys representing clients with plenty of evidence, including videos and transcripts and testimony provided under oath, to bolster lawsuits, against Trump and others.

Trump is already in plenty of legal hot water. The day before the hearings are set to begin, it was revealed he had agreed — alongside Don Jr. and Ivanka — to actually sit down for a deposition regarding another case against him: the one from the New York State Attorney General’s Office looking into his business’ practices. It’s been argued that, after that case is done with him, he may have nothing left but his pensions. After the Jan. 6 hearings, he may not even have those.

It’s about to be another City Girls summer. Today, Caresha Brownlee, better known as Yung Miami from City Girls, revealed the trailer for her upcoming talk show, Caresha Please.

Caresha Please will air online via Diddy’s platform, Revolt. Diddy, who has been entwined in dating rumors with Yung Miami, appears in the trailer for the first episode, where Miami is seen asking a series of questions, including, “Why you never got married?”

“Revolt is about giving a platform to the most authentic and disruptive voices in hip-hop that move the culture,” said Diddy in a statement. “Yung Miami is not only a superstar artist, she’s also unapologetically herself and brings a perspective women around the world can relate to, which is why I’m excited to bring her podcast to life.”

So far, the trailer has only revealed Diddy as one of the guests on Caresha Please, but Miami is promising plenty of surprises.

“Be ready to be entertained,” said Miami in a statement. “You never know who may pop up. All things go on Caresha Please. Nothing is off-limits.”

A special sneak peak of Caresha Please will stream on YouTube and on the Revolt app on Thursday, June 9 at 5 p.m. EST.

This won’t be Miami’s only venture into TV this year. She, along with her City Girls bandmate JT, will serve as an executive producer on HBO Max’s upcoming series, Rap Sh!t, which was created by Insecure‘s Issa Rae.

Earlier this year, Phoebe Bridgers announced that she would bring her 2021 Reunion Tour to the new year. Bridgers announced performances in North America and Europe between April 13 and August 28. On Tuesday night, made a stop in Toronto, and while she may have expected things to be smooth sailing, fans who attended the show claimed that the night was anything but that. In a report from the Toronto Star, some concertgoers said they were “unsafe” at the show while others described moments of people being “violently trampled” and eventually requiring medical attention.

The publication spoke to Sammy Talukder, a 16-year-old from Kitchener, who was one of the dozens of fans who camped out overnight in order to get a front-row spot at the show. Around 5:30pm local time, venue security allowed attendees to enter the building but only in groups of 20. However, when fans got passed security, Talukder says that they were not allowed to approach the stage which created a bottleneck of “100 to 200 people.” Once fans were allowed to approach the stage, it was reported that a violent rush ensued as fans made their way towards the stage.

“It was basically a stampede,” Talukder said to the Toronto Star. “People were pushing other people and then everyone started running. I lost all my friends, I was alone. People were falling, my foot was stomped on by some girl.” Talukder continued, “I felt so scared and unsafe. And I was alone from all my friends. It was really scary.”

Additionally, multiple fans confirmed that Bridgers was forced to stop her show multiple times in order for fans to receive medical attention.

At the end of the night, Toronto Paramedic Services said that it transported two patients with minor injuries from Echo Beach on Tuesday night. Live Nation Canada also noted that “there was no trampling at the venue.” They continued, “Last night’s show was proactively paused a few times so medical staff could assist fans who were experiencing dehydration. Safety is always our top priority and we worked in close collaboration with medical authorities throughout the evening.”

When the Sex and the City revival And Just Like That… premiered last year, it did so without one of the its central foursome: Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones. Some speculated the reason for her absence was the actress’ “painful” feud with main star Sarah Jessica Parker. But in an interview from March, Cattrall offered another big excuse: She’d been done with playing the sex-loving PR god since the second movie, back in 2010.

Keep that in mind when you hear this: In a recent interview with Variety, Michael Patrick King — writer and director of the original shows and movies, and showrunner of its revival — claimed Samantha was back. In what capacity? That’s not terribly clear.

Indeed, when asked if Samantha, who was only referenced on the first season of And Just Like That…, King responded, “Yes!” But he wouldn’t elaborate on how. “It’s all so new right now,” he said. “One of my big rules is don’t tell things until they’re real.” He added, “My goal is to bring all the characters into the mix together, so that they’re not so much on separate runways.”

So what does this mean? A cameo? Just more ghost-texting? Will there be flashback to the younger Samantha, played by someone else? Or will Cattrall pull a 180 and Samantha will suddenly start hanging out with the dreaded Che Diaz? Whatever the case, it sounds similar to the recent claim that Val Kilmer will be back in the Willow revival series, even though he was never present during filming. As with that example, you’ll have to wait to see if you’ll ever see Samantha Jones in person again.

Kid Cudi is ready to bring the world of Entergalactic to his fans this year. Just a day after Cudi announced the first single from his upcoming Entergalactic album, he returned today to share the first trailer from its accompanying Netflix animated series. It features Cudi’s character, Jabari, who is described as a “charming, creative visionary,” according to Consequence. Jabari is best friends with Jimmy, a weed dealer turned crypto bro, who is played by Timothée Chalamet. Elsewhere, Jessica Williams will star as Meadow, an up-and-coming photographer that is also Jabari’s neighbor and love interest. Macaulay Culkin plays Downtown Pat, a “downtown legend and life-long, city-wide delinquent.”

There will also be a decent list of musicians involved in the show. Ty Dolla $ign, 070 Shake, Jaden Smith, and Teyana Taylor are also confirmed as stars for Entergalactic while other actors like Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens, Christopher Abbott, Keith David, and Arturo Castro will also make appearances. Entergalactic is co-executive produced and co-written by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and Ian Edelman (How To Make It In America)

According to a synopsis from Netflix, Entergalactic is “an original, animated story about a young artist named Jabari as he attempts to balance love and success.” It continues, “Finding the latter brings Jabari a step closer to the former, when moving into his dream apartment introduces him to his new neighbor, photographer it-girl, Meadow. An explosion of art, music, and fashion, Entergalactic takes place in the only city that can handle all three: New York.”

Can we all take a moment and give Kate Middleton a parenting round of applause? Parenting multiple children is already a tough feat, but to do so publicly is a whole new level of challenge. We can’t just lock our children inside our homes and expect that they will emerge just knowing how to behave in public. Children have to be brought into spaces that require certain behaviors so they can learn societal norms. That makes for pretty spicy armpits of nervous parents.

We might want our children to behave like mini-adults in formal or boring situations, but that’s not realistic. We have to be prepared for the meltdowns that are bound to happen. The Duchess of Cambridge was recently reminded of this during the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Her youngest, Prince Louis, was acting like a typical preschooler, but on a world stage. Preschoolers were not designed to sit still for long periods of time. They need to move and make noise. I swear, it’s science. That doesn’t stop parents from trying to teach them to sit still and not make noises at fancy events.

Prince Louis behaved exactly like any preschooler would behave at a long event that was not designed with little ones in mind. He threw a tantrum and attempted to hit his mom in the face, and Middleton handled it like a pro. There was no yelling on her part, just a mom doing her best to keep her cool. She calmly redirected him several times and firmly but gently removed his hand from the vicinity of her face.

By now Middleton has gotten this parenting thing down as Prince Louis is her third child, but parenting child number three can be like trying to get a heard of cats into a pool. You know you’ve done it before but for some reason the last one makes you question your sanity.

I can only imagine the frustration she felt in that moment, but it was a quick reminder that duchess or not, she’s still just a mom. Being a mother on the world stage is an experience I personally would never want. Every move is monitored and spread across the globe for people to judge, while sitting on their couches as their own children are likely running amok. So let’s cut Middleton some slack. At the end of the day, she’s just a mom doing the best she can and Prince Louis is just a child doing what children do.

Rappers Juicy J and Pi’erre Bourne are joining forces for the summer. Later this month, the pair will drop their collaborative album, Space Age Pimpin’.

Ahead of the album, Juicy and Bourne have dropped the club-ready lead single, “This Fronto.” On the track, Juicy J mixes a cocktail of drugs, rapping, “This fronto got me high, so high, so high / The Xans got me high, so high, so high / The mollies got me high, so high, so high / The shrooms got me high, so high, so high.”

A prolific producer and an artist in his own right, Bourne swoops in with a flashy verse, proclaiming, “I can tell the future, all I see is dollar signs
/ My diamonds shine like the fourth of July”

Bourne is known for his work on tracks by Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti. With his brooding, downtempo craft, Bourne’s production stylings give “This Fronto” a feel similar to that of old Three 6 Mafia tracks.

Although Bourne has built an impressive resume as a producer, he revealed to Billboard last year that he doesn’t feel he’s made it as a rapper.

“I feel like I made it as a producer,” Bourne said. “With [my albums, The Life Of Pi’erre 4 and 5], that’s been me getting everyone to see that I’m rapping, but a lot of people still haven’t heard TLOP 1, 2, or 3. There’s still a gap to be filled between the millions of people that know me as a producer as opposed to an artist. I just have to gain more awareness, and that’s pretty much what the music has done.”
