Charles Barkley Was Ready To Fight Warriors Fans For Throwing Shirts At Him After Game 5

The Golden State Warriors took care of business on Thursday evening, toppling the Dallas Mavericks at home in Game 5 to win the Western Conference and clinch a berth in the 2022 NBA Finals. Shortly after the contest ended and Stephen Curry was named as the first-ever Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP, TNT’s Inside The NBA panel was stationed outside Chase Center in San Francisco and discussing what transpired in the series. With Warriors fans spilling out into the courtyard, it was a raucous atmosphere to say the least, and things escalated involving Charles Barkley and flying objects.

Fans threw shirts at Barkley, who has been critical of Warriors fans and San Francisco throughout the series. Barkley did not appear to be thrilled with what happened, getting up and gesturing toward the assembled masses while Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith attempted to slow him down.

Fortunately, this did not escalate further, though it was clear from the television broadcast that it was uncomfortable given Ernie and Kenny’s reactions were definitely not of those who thought Chuck was joking. It goes without saying, but there is a gap between trash talk and throwing objects in this kind of setting, and that is a line that was crossed by the assembled fans. Within moments, all seemed to be well, with Barkley joking and celebrating the arrival of his upcoming vacation, but there seems to be no love lost between Barkley and this particular fan base.

Blackbear Is On The Search For Suspect Machine Gun Kelly In Their New ‘GFY’ Video

Blackbear and Machine Gun Kelly have three words for their exes — “go f*ck yourself.” That’s what Blackbear says in the chorus of their new collaboration, cryptically titled “GFY.” Rife with rock-influenced guitars and drums, “GFY” features Blackbear kissing off an ex as she tried “to f*ck all [his] friends.”

On the bridge of the Travis Barker-produced track, Kelly pleads to be taken “out this episode of Euphoria,” and “back to the Waldorf-Astoria,” ready to enjoy a debauched night after leaving a toxic relationship. The song precedes Blackbear’s upcoming sixth studio album, In Loving Memory, which is planned for release this summer.

“Although ‘GFY’ is the first single from the album, fans will soon see it’s actually a fun intermission in an otherwise vulnerable project,” said Blackbear in a statement. “Also, I just like making music with my friends.”

In the song’s music video, directed by Blackbear himself, along with John Tashiro and Tyler Serebreni, Blackbear plays a suburban dad who becomes invested in a murder investigation. At the center of the investigation is none other than Kelly. Fans may see some familiar faces making cameos in the video, including Mike Posner as a cop, Benny Blanco as a TV anchor, plus Aisha Mian, and August Maturo.

Calvin Harris Drops A Funky New Single, ‘Potion,’ With Dua Lipa And Young Thug

The Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 era is officially upon us. Right on time for summer, Calvin Harris has dropped a new heater with Dua Lipa and Young Thug. On the funkified “Potion,” Lipa enjoys a summer night with a new flame by her side, while Thug enjoys wild sexcapades.

The song’s seductive chorus features Lipa singing about “Late night conversations, electric emotions, sprinkled with a little bit of sex,” over a beachy, ’70s-influenced instrumental. It fits in with the disco and synth-pop sounds of Lipa’s Future Nostalgia era and is edgy enough to serve as a bridge to her next. Thug later swoops in with a verse, sharing that he’s spending the summer with “15 main h*es, ’cause I’m undecided / I’m kickin’ sh*t, karate.”

This isn’t the first time Harris has collaborated with Thug or Lipa. On Harris’ 2017 album, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, Harris collaborated with Thug, Ariana Grande, and Pharrell Williams on the song “Heatstroke.” Harris collaborated with Lipa in 2018 on their single, “One Kiss.

When speaking of Harris in a 2018 interview with the Recording Academy, Lipa said, “It was such a fun experience, and he’s so lovely and down to earth.”

Chance The Rapper Keeps Things Literal And Simple On The Focused ‘A Bar About A Bar’

Chance The Rapper is slowly finding his place in the spotlight in 2022. Truly, his return began with last spring’s “The Heart & The Tongue” which stood as his first solo single since his 2019 The Big Day. The rest of 2021 was fairly quiet for the Chicago native, but he found his way back to center stage through a number of releases this year. He teamed with Supa Bwe for “ACAB,” got introspective on “Child Of God,” flexed his bars with Vic Mensa on “Wraith (Writing Exercise #3), and now he gets intricate on his latest solo release, “A Bar About A Bar.”

Chance’s new track, just like his previous solo release “Child Of God,” arrives with a video that captures him rapping as an artist works on a painting nearby. While “Child Of God” featured a piece from painter Naila Opiangah, which double as the song’s artwork, “A Bar About A Bar” arrives with work from painter Nikko Washington. The song itself is a rather short one as Chance fires off a handful of bars about a bar and the brief experiences of a man who goes to one for a hard drink. The track arrives with a video that features a brief appearance from Vic Mensa.

At the end of the visual, Chance announced that his next single, “The Highs & The Lows” with Joey Badass, will arrive next month.

Neiked, Anne-Marie, And Latto Flip A Stevie Wonder Classic On ‘I Just Called’

Anne-Marie and Latto are kissing off their exes on a dancy new break-up track produced by Swedish duo, Neiked. On “I Just Called,” Anne-Marie makes it more than clear that she is over a heartbreak. After taking “a few shots,” Anne-Marie sings on the chorus, “I just called to say I hate you / I just called to say that I’ve moved on / I just called to say this is the last you’ll be hearing from me.”

The chorus interpolates Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called To Say I Love You,” on which, Wonder sings, “I just called to say I love you / I just called to say how much I care.” Following Anne-Marie’s chorus, Latto comes through with a fiery verse, reminding her ex, she’s “hot options like my closet / but I’m off it / I don’t double back /Might wear it once, then I’m done with it.”

Both Anne-Marie and Latto ride the electronic beat with ease, displaying confidence in their craft as frontrunners in their respective genres. The two maintain solid musical chemistry throughout, especially with Latto riding the high of having quickly brought her brazen craft into the realm of pop with her recent hit, “Big Energy.”

Kanye West And XXXTentacion Look To Untangle The Complicated Web Of Romance On ‘True Love’

The past twelve months have been an active period for music with Kanye West. Back in February, the rapper released his eleventh album Donda 2 exclusively on his Stem Player site. The 16-track release, which was later extended to 17, arrived just six months after Kanye shared his chart-topping and Grammy-nominated tenth album Donda. Donda 2 featured appearances from Future, Migos, Jack Harlow, the late XXXTENTACION, Vory, Alicia Keys, Fivio Foreign, Soulja Boy, Sean Leon, Baby Keem, Travis Scott, and Don Toliver. The record with XXXTentacion, “True Love,” which served as the intro track for Donda 2, is now available for streaming thanks to an official release from the respective artists.

“True Love” strikes as quite the personal record as both rappers look to untangle the complicated web of love. “True love shouldn’t be this complicated,” XXXTENTACION sings to open the song. “I thought I’d die in your arms.” Through his verses on the song, Kanye sings about the conclusion of his marriage with Kim Kardashian and how it’s affected his relationship with him and Kim’s four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

According to Variety, which sets a press release that announced the song, “True Love” will also appear on XXXTENTACION’s upcoming posthumous album Look At Me: The Album. The song’s official release arrives with the release of XXXTENTACION’s Hulu documentary Look at Me: XXXTentacion which begins streaming tonight on the platform. The film grants a new look into XXXTENTACION’s career including his rise to fame and accusations of assault against him, like that of his then-pregnant girlfriend Geneva Ayala who appears in the film as well as XXXTENTACION’s other ex-girlfriends.

Bun B Honored The Victims Of The Uvalde Shooting With A Moment Of Silence During Verzuz With 8Ball & MJG

It’s been a big night in dirty south hip-hop, as the music of Houston rap duo UGK faced off against that of Memphis’ 8Ball & MJG on the Verzuz stage tonight. Representing UGK was one-half of the duo, Bun B, who is originally from Port Arthur, Texas. Before kicking of the hotly-anticipated Verzuz, Bun took time to honor the victims of the school shooting.

“Before we get started, [DJ Greg] Street, if that’s alright, I wanted to take a moment of silence,” said Bun to the crowd. “21 seconds of silence to honor the 21 victims of the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas. If you have a hat on, I ask that you take your hat off.”

The room then went silent for a full 21 seconds.

Before calling for a moment of silence, Bun shouted out his late bandmate, Pimp C. “You already know we doing this for the Pimp,” he said.

Earlier this week, Bun took to his Instagram story (per iHeart) to call for change in regards to gun laws. “Let’s see what we are really made of as a country now,” Bun said. “They’re killing our babies! How many more have to die before we make some real changes?”

J. Cole Knocked Down A Three-Point Shot In His Debut With The Scarborough Shooting Stars

When J. Cole departed from the Rwanda Patriots of the Basketball Africa League last summer, it was unknown whether or not the rapper-slash-aspiring professional athlete would give the pro leagues a second try. Cole has always expressed his love for basketball, so much so that the Detroit Pistons once told him to reach out for a tryout with the team. However, with his day-to-day responsibilities as a rapper and label owner, Cole doesn’t have the freest schedule to pursue his ball dreams — or does he? Last week, Cole signed a contract with the Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League, and today, he made his debut with the team.

Cole’s time on the court with the Shooting Stars was a brief one, as he checked in for 15 game minutes. Despite this, he was able to find the bottom of the net as he scored three points during the night thanks to a three-point shot that he knocked down from the right corner. In total, he went one-for-four from the field, grabbed a rebound, and had an assist to complete his first night with the Shooting Stars. Unfortunately, the Shooting Stars were unable to get a win as they fell to the Guelph Nighthawks 89-80.

During the game, Cole received some love from Drake who shouted out the fellow rapper in an Instagram post. “It’s real @scarboroughshootingstars,” he wrote with a picture of Cole on his TV screen. “My brother just checked in.”

You can check out a video of Cole’s first points with the Shooting Stars above.

The Warriors Are Headed Back To The NBA Finals After Knocking Off The Mavs In Game 5

After two years away from the playoffs altogether, the Golden State Warriors are returning to the NBA Finals for the sixth time in eight years, as they remain undefeated at home this postseason after dispatching of the Dallas Mavericks in five games in the Western Conference Finals.

Game 5 saw a familiar refrain in this series, as the Warriors jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Stephen Curry was quiet scoring, tweaking his ankle early on, but he was dishing out assists aplenty early, with Klay Thompson coming out of the gate firing from three, knocking down five triples to help Golden State establish as much as a 21-point advantage in the first half.

On the other end, Luka Doncic struggled, scoring just six points on 12 shots in the first half as the Warriors bottled him up and frustrated him with their physicality at the rim, where he wasn’t getting calls he felt he should’ve. The result was an odd half where the Mavs bench really kept things from being a disaster, while Luka and the starters never really got going.

The lone bright spot of the first half for Dallas was Spencer Dinwiddie, who had 17 points and hit buzzer beaters at the end of both the first and second quarters to keep the Mavs from getting run out of the gym.

The third quarter started with much of the same from the Warriors, as they opened up a 23-point advantage and it appeared we were headed for yet another conference finals blowout.

However, it was at that point that Doncic woke up and dragged the Mavs back into the proceedings with some incredible shot-making, cutting the deficit to 10 going into the fourth quarter.

The fourth started with much of the same from Doncic, as the Mavs hung around and made things interesting in San Francisco.

However, as has been the case all series, Dallas digging themselves an early hole meant the offense coming alive late wasn’t enough, they needed to string stops together and, like in the first three games, that proved to be something they just could not do in the fourth. The play that might paint the best picture of the series as a whole came in a 14-point game with nine minutes to play when Kevon Looney pulled down two offensive rebounds on one possession, ultimately setting up a Nemanja Bjelica three.

All series Looney and the Warriors have punished the Mavs on the offensive boards, neutralizing strong initial defense from Dallas by creating second chance opportunities, and Game 5 was no different, as Golden State cruised to a 120-110 win. Dallas simply could not match the Warriors’ consistency in this series and the result is a gentlemen’s sweep that gives Golden State nearly a week off before the Finals start on June 2.

All five Warriors reached double figures in Game 5 (plus Jordan Poole off the bench), headlined by Thompson’s 32 points. Draymond Green had 17 points and nine assists, while Andrew Wiggins continued his stellar play with 18 points and eight rebounds and Stephen Curry had 15 points and nine assists. Looney, though, was particularly sensational all series and in this game, as he had 10 points and an outrageous 18 rebounds (seven offensive), punishing Dallas’ lack of size inside constantly.

For the Mavs, it’s a reminder of the gap between them and the very best teams in terms of consistency. If their series against the Suns showed how good they can be at their best, this showed that their floor simply has to get higher if they’re to make it out of the West. Luka Doncic had 28 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, but was just 10-of-28 shooting and eventually ran out of gas. Dinwiddie was terrific with 26 points off the bench, but only Dorian Finney-Smith (13 points) and Jalen Brunson (10 points on 10 shots) reached double figures.

Their lack of size was exposed by the Warriors all series, and their inability to consistently hit threes meant their small-ball advantage offensively was negated and too often they allowed big Golden State runs that put the game too far out of reach for them to reasonably claw their way back to. There are moves to be made by Dallas this offseason, particularly in addressing their frontcourt, and ending with something of a thud might help them avoid the pitfalls last year’s surprise conference finalist, the Atlanta Hawks, ran into with running it back with a flawed roster.

The Warriors will now await either Boston or Miami, with the Celtics having their chance to punch a ticket to the Finals on Friday night at home.

‘Ozark’ Is #1 On Streaming Charts With Its Final Episodes

Jason Bateman recently praised the working environment on Ozark (spoilers), saying that he’d “do it again in a second, because what we had just doesn’t happen often.” Netflix might take him up on that offer, because the final episodes of the dark crime series’ final season have put it head and shoulders above the competition for streaming eyeballs. Based on the Nielsen ratings in the last week of April 2022, Ozark captured 2.58 billion viewing minutes, and while it also moved up on the charts, the second-place Grace and Frankie clocked in at 701 million. That’s a huge gap that puts Ozark on a different plane of existence and could have Netflix’s mouth watering for more lakeside money laundering.

Netflix held 8 of the 10 top spots for the week, with Disney+’s Moon Knight grabbing third place with 681 million viewing minutes, and Amazon Prime Video’s Outer Range taking eighth place with 343 million.

As the final season closed out, showrunner Chris Mundy talked enthusiastically about spinoff possibilities ala Breaking Bad, saying, “It’s definitely something that people have talked about a bunch. There’s nothing definitive. We’re lucky that people seem to really like the show so there’s obviously going to be some interest there. There are still ways to stay inside the show and revisit things.”

So, a separate show where Killer Mike gives more sage advice? Excellent.
