Sabrina Carpenter’s catchy lines have earned her a solid fan base, a clever MLB broadcast inclusion, and chart-topping pop songwriter. But while fellow music superstar Adele can’t seem to shake the “Taste” singer’s tunes, another legend hasn’t had the same issue.
Yesterday (September 27), Dionne Warwick sat down with NPR for a special edition of Nobody Asked For This (viewable here), the living pop music legend ranked the genre’s most popular tracks. However, when asked if Sabrina Carpenter’s line about singers’ late working hours on “Espresso” resonated with her, Warwick simply replied, “It does not.”
The track’s full stanza goes: “I’m working late ’cause I’m a singer / Oh, he looks so cute wrapped around my finger/ My twisted humor make him laugh so often / My honey bee, come and get this pollen.”
But before Sabrina Carpenter fans begin to sharpen their pitchforks, earlier in the chat Warwick did praise another Short N’ Sweet track.
When asked about her thoughts on “Please Please Please,” to which Warwick replied: “Well, maybe we’ll give this a 4 and a half [Dionnes out of 5].”
The ranking of “Please Please Please” tied Sabrina Carpenter with Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” on the legend’s list of impressive pop tunes of today.
So, it is safe to say Dionne Warwick is a fan of Sabrina Carpenter’s charismatic approach to music.
The only problem is Lady Gaga nor her fiancée Michael Polansky announced the joyous occasion. While sitting down with The Graham Norton Show, Lady Gaga laughed off the French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal’s media team accidentally leaking the news.
“We actually got engaged on April 1,” she said. “I thought he was joking. He was not. But yeah it was really nice.”
The “Die With A Smile” singer then addressed the news of her engagement intentionally making the news. After that we went to the Paris Olympics and the prime minister had his people filming us they were saying hello,” she said. “They caught me saying, ‘Oh, this is my fiancée,’ and I was trying to keep it hidden. But they announced it to everyone. But that was kind of fun.”
Although shortly after the video went viral, Lady Gaga did confirm it, it surely would have been nice if she could have held on to the personal milestone a bit longer.

Has Ye (more commonly known as Kanye West) abandoned the rumored Vultures 3 project with Ty Dolla Sign? Well, that the question fans of the musical duo are asking themselves today (September 28).
During the “Talking/Once Again” rapper’s latest concert in Haikou, China, he announced his next solo studio album. In front of the packed Wuyuan River Stadium crowd, Kanye West confirmed that his next back of work, Bully, will be released soon.
“I got a new album coming out,” he said. “The album’s called ‘Bully,’ and this song is called ‘Beauty and the Beast.’”
In the video captured by concertgoers. (viewable here), Kanye West then graciously debuted the track. “I still think about it every night and day to try to stay away, to keep my audience / Don’t take this disrespect, I’m sitting here trying to redirect,” sings West.
Fans immediately began to look for clues regarding the forthcoming project. The first sprinkle of information came from Mike Dean, a longtime collaborator of Kanye West. Over on Instagram (viewable here), the producer seemed to confirm support theories that West would be reworking vaulted songs, by writing: “Donda leftover.”
Ordinarily the comment could come off as passive-aggressive (especially considering their history), but keeping in mind the supposed mountain of legal blowback from his Vultures album pulling from his own work might be best. However, the 2021 album also faced copyright infringement lawsuits.
No updates were provided regarding the future of Vultures 3.
Yesterday (September 27), Bright Eyes announced that they would be cancelling their remaining live shows through the end of 2024 due to Conor Oberst’s ongoing medical issues with his vocals. Before you ask yourself, yes that includes their scheduled appearance at Best Friends Forever Festival in Las Vegas. In a statement shared on the band’s official Instagram page, Bright Eyes went on to assure their support that after Oberst’s treatment they should be all good to hammer out the 2025 tour dates in support of their Five Dice, All Threes album.
Continue below to read Bright Eyes’ full statement.
We regret to announce that we will have to cancel our shows for the rest of the year including in Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas and Europe. We love our fans and are incredibly disappointed that we won’t be able to play these shows. All tickets for headline shows will be refunded at point of purchase, and we will keep everyone posted on plans for rescheduling.
Over the past week, Conor has undergone multiple tests to determine the cause of his recent vocal problems. It’s come to light that he has developed a condition that is exacerbated by excessive singing, requiring both treatment and recuperation. We are confident that with a successful regimen, and continued medical attention, we will be able to return to the road next year.
Dolly Parton may not consider the act to be a blatant dismissive of her record-recording release, but supporters feel otherwise. To add fuel to the Texas hot flame, Beyoncé didn’t take home any wins following the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards despite receiving the second-highest amount of nominations (17 total) including Social Country Star, Album, Song, two for Female Song, Collaboration Song, two for Cover Song, Crossover Song, Storyteller Song, Female Artist, and People’s Artist.
Following the blowout loss, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam the award show.
“They definitely were hating on her,” remarked one user.
“Not 1, but all 12 of her nominations? Oh yeah, I’m tearing some sh*t up today,” chimed another.
“The People’s Choice my f*cking ass,” penned another.
“How do you lose despite getting the most votes,” questioned another.
“So the People’s Choice Country Awards uses an electoral college,” asked one user.
Others began to predict that this could be a trend going into next year’s award season.
“This might be her first era without winning awards ,” wrote one user.
True sports fans know the party starts long before the whistle is blown. For football fanatics the tailgate is the place to be. Today (September 28), DJ Khaled decided to one-up the University of Central Florida versus Colorado University tailgaters.
As thousands gathered outside of the FBC Mortgage Stadium to ahead of Colorado Buffaloes and UCF Knights showdown, the “Supposed To Be Loved” producer took his level of excitement for the game to new heights. As the Grammy winner discussed the matchup with FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff crew he needed to channel his adrenaline into a hilarious crowd-surf.
In the video (viewable here), the entire host team, which included Tom Brady hyped DJ Khaled up to take the plunge. With the assistance of Mark Ingram II, he dives head first into the onlookers.
Now, DJ Khaled has done come daredevil-like acts in the past including some late night mishaps with a jet ski. However, he’s never done anything quite like this. But the live studio audience were all on board with DJ Khaled’s antics. Just as DJ Khaled upper torso make contact with the fans, they quickly came together to push him over head. Although DJ Khaled’s crowd-surf didn’t last long, he can certainly cross it off of his bucket list.
Doja Cat has officially been dethroned as Taco Bell’s favorite musician. Earlier in the week, the beloved multinational chain announced its partnership with “Be Careful With Me” singer and Queer actor Omar Apollo.
Instead of slapping his name on a standard menu meal, Omar Apollo and Taco Bell wanted to spice thing up—literally. The fiery singer has reimagined one of the restaurant’s signature sauces. With the help of his mother’s family recipe, fans can get a taste of Omar Apollo’s heritage by way of the new and improved Disha Hot sauce packet.
In a statement Omar Apollo gushed about the collaboration, saying: “Everyone’s family has that one recipe they believe is worth sharing with the rest of the world, for me, it’s Disha Hot Sauce. It’s not just about the flavors that take me back to my childhood, but about honoring my heritage and the countless sacrifices my parents made for me to pursue my passions. Bringing Disha Hot Sauce to the world has always been my dream, and I’m grateful to partner with Taco Bell to celebrate the flavors that make us who we are and create new memories with the people we love.”
Although the first-of-its-kind sauce collaboration can be enjoyed with any item on Taco Bell’s menu, Omar Apollo also curated the Disha Hot Discovery Box with his favorite eats and three sauce packets to match. Both the Omar Apollo’s Disha Hot sauce packet and specially curated Disha Hot Discovery Box are available at Taco Bell locations nationwide.
Action Alba is back. The former Dark Angel star rose to fame while kicking butt, and Jessica Alba recently showed that she’s still got it while starring in the machismo-free Trigger Warning on Netflix. Following that successful collaboration with the streamer, Alba will now tackle a different genre while starring in and executive producing Confessions On The 7:45, which will be adapted from the same-named Lisa Unger novel into a series by screenwriter and showrunner Charise Castro Smith.
Although Alba did find time to recently bid farewell to “Brat Summer,” she clearly does not pause for long on work that invigorates her. Let’s dig into what we can expect from this series:
Plot
Alba will surely bring a whole new audience to this film after Trigger Warningstood alongside Bridgerton at the top of Netflix’s most-watched weekend charts upon release. Not that Lisa Unger’s existing audience pales in comparison, though. She has penned over 20 crime-based thrillers with her Close Your Eyes And Count To 10 novel debuting in early 2025. We shall see how the reception to that book goes, but early reviews are promising, and back to our current subject, Confessions On The 7:45 fits the very definition of “difficult to put down” as a book that has been ripe for adaptation.
The psychological thriller will follow a working mom, Selena, who misses her usual train home and catches a later ride, where she has a somewhat unsettling conversation with a stranger. Dominoes soon begin to fall in Selena’s life, and Unger’s narrative reads liked the proverbial peeling back of layers on a rotten onion. According to the Netflix series description, “As [Selena’s] life unravels and betrayals are revealed, she questions whether we can ever truly know the people closest to us.”
So many mysteries are buried within this book that it makes sense for a series adaptation to be the chosen medium rather than a film, and via Deadline, Alba explained why this book hit her hard:
“I could not put this book down. The moment I read the line, ‘If you want to keep a secret you must first hide it from yourself. This book is about trying to bury secrets and the shame we carry until the truth exposes us. I can’t think of a more exciting person to partner with on this project. Charise is so ridiculously talented and truly gets every nuance under the skin of these characters and their web of lies.”
Cast
Alba will star in the series with further casting details to come.
Release Date
Netflix is staying mum on a window, but considering Alba’s recent Netflix success, there’s every reason to believe that this project will be fast tracked.

It’s been an up and down week for The Simpsons fans.
On one (four-fingered) hand, The Simpsons: Tapped Out mobile game is being shut down after an extremely profitable 12-year run. I guess making hundreds of millions of dollars ain’t what it used to be. That’s bad. But on the other (left) hand, another season of The Simpsons premieres soon. That’s good!
Here’s everything we know about The Simpsons season 36, including plot details, guest stars, and the premiere date.
Plot
The Simpsons season 36 kicks off with “Bart’s Birthday,” which co-showrunner Matt Selman described as a format-breaking episode. “The logline is Bart celebrates his birthday, but it’s a little more than that,” he told Animation Scoop. “If you like the more experimental episodes we’ve been doing lately, like ‘Lisa the Boy Scout’ and some of the crazier ones, this would fall into that category.” There will tons of guest stars, too, as seen below.
Beyond the premiere, there will be a spoof of The White Lotus entitled (what else?) “The Yellow Lotus” and two Halloween-focused episodes. The first is the annual “Treehouse of Horror” installment, featuring animation from the Robot Chicken team Stoopid Buddy in a parody of Venom, followed by the Ray Bradbury-inspired “Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes,” in which “a tattooed man at a mysterious night circus transports Lisa into three strange stories from the innocent 1950s, the chilling retro-present, and a brutalist future where prestige TV rules the world.”
The Simpsons will also do something unprecedented in the show’s long history this season: four new episodes will be made available exclusively on Disney Plus, not Fox (it appears they’re not technically considered part of season 36, but rather standalone episodes). That includes the Christmas-themed double episode “O C’mon All Ye Faithful,” which premieres on December 17, 35 years after the first aired episode of the show, “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire.” It’s unclear when the other episodes will debut.
Cast
It’s 36 seasons (and counting!) with Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Harry Shearer, and Hank Azaria. The voice cast also includes — I’m only going to list their most well-known character or else this list will get very long — Pamela Hayden (Milhouse Van Houten), Tress MacNeille (Agnes Skinner), Maggie Roswell (Helen Lovejoy), Alex Désert (Carl Carlson), Kevin Michael Richardson (Dr. Hibbert), Jenny Yokobori (Kumiko Nakamura), Grey DeLisle (Martin Prince), and Eric Lopez (Bumblebee Man).
The announced guest stars so far for this season are Conan O’Brien (returning for the first time since season 5’s “Bart Gets Famous”), John Cena, Tom Hanks, and Joel McHale, all as themselves in the premiere; Danny DeVito as Homer’s brother Herb Powell; Chloe Fineman; Richard E. Grant; Andy Serkis; and of course, Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob, who will also feature prominently in the next Disney+ short, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”
Release Date
The Simpsons returns for season 35 on September 29. Meanwhile, “Treehouse of Horror XXXV” will supposedly air on November 3. Why not until after Halloween? As always, blame baseball (unless Apu’s favorite squadron makes it to the World Series, then please root for them).
Trailer
You can watch a promo for the season 36 premiere here. Or better yet, watch the first-ever The Simpsons short from The Tracey Ullman Show, “Good Night,” which debuted 37 years ago this year.
As many quickly pointed out, the problem with that trade is that it wouldn’t be legal under the CBA as a two-team deal, because both the Knicks and Timberwolves are above the first apron. That means they had to find a third team to take on some salary to make the financials work, because neither team could take on more money than they were sending out — with the Knicks being the team taking on the bigger contract.
A half-hour after the initial framework of the deal got reported, we learned from Tim Bontemps of ESPN that the Charlotte Hornets would be the third team in the deal. Per Shams Charania, the Hornets will take on some salary from the Knicks, with DaQuan Jeffries among those on the move, along with some draft picks for their trouble. Charlotte is well below the luxury tax, so this is just some good business on their end to hop into the deal, take on a little money, and get some draft assets for their trouble. For the Knicks, they simply needed to find a team willing to take on enough money to make this work, and will be thrilled to part with some future second round picks to get this deal done and get KAT to town by the time camp starts.
