The Warriors Overcame A 19-Point Deficit To Take Game 2 Against The Mavericks

Things looked bleak for the Golden State Warriors at halftime of Game 2 of the 2022 Western Conference Finals. The Dallas Mavericks’ offense was buzzing on all cylinders, connecting on three after three en route to leading by as many as 19 points, while the Warrior offense kept turning the ball over and repeatedly looked frazzled.

And then, the tables turned and everything went right for the home team. Thanks to a high-scoring second half and a third quarter to forget for Dallas’ offense, the Warriors were able to pick up a 126-117 win at the Chase Center to extend their series lead to 2-0 before the series heads to Texas.

The first quarter was defined by runs and monster performances from each team’s biggest star. Dallas raced out to a 10-2 lead before Golden State ripped off six in a row.

Then, the Maverick offense got into a rhythm. Dallas scored 16 consecutive points to open up quite the cushion and take the opposing fans right out of the game … until Golden State responded by scoring 13 in a row. Ultimately, the Mavericks led 32-25 after one, with Doncic going for 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Curry had 11 points, four rebounds, and two steals.

Doncic and Curry sat on the bench to start the second quarter, and in that time, Doncic’s teammates put their collective foot on the gas. Dallas scored nine interrupted points at one point early on in the frame to extend its lead to 19.

The 1-2 punch of Doncic and Jalen Brunson, mixed with a stellar shooting half by the Mavericks, gave them a 72-58 lead heading into the locker room for halftime. Dallas got scorching hot from deep, as the team shot 15-for-27 from behind the three-point line. Even when Golden State had a chance towards the end of the half to go on a run and potentially cut the deficit to single digits — they went on a 10-2 run to get the lead down to 11 — Doncic hit a ridiculous three from way downtown to beat the shot clock to give his team a chance to catch their collective breath.

If not for a big half from Curry, it’s not a stretch to say the Warriors’ deficit would have been even more. Curry had a team-high 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting while hitting five of his seven threes, which helped soften the blow of the 13 fouls and 10 turnovers committed by Golden State in the first 24 minutes.

While the Warriors did not come out of the locker room with one of their patented, high-flying third quarter avalanches, they still managed to chip away at the lead over the course of the period. As Dallas’ scorching-hot shooting suddenly went cold — seemingly due to a desire to repeatedly attack Kevon Looney despite that not really working — Golden State managed to take advantage by continuously doing just enough, whether that was at the free throw line or catching the Mavs flatfooted.

Golden State got the lead all the way down to two. It was the deficit at the end of the period, thanks to a dunk by Looney as time expired to give the Mavericks only an 85-83 lead entering the fourth.

It took exactly one possession for the Warriors to take their first lead of the night, as Otto Porter started the fourth by drilling a corner triple.

Things seemed inevitable from the moment that shot went in. Golden State’s offense spent the quarter getting seemingly whatever it wanted, regardless of whether or not Curry was on the floor to serve as its catalyst. Even Draymond Green buried a triple at one point, which is usually a tried-and-true sign that it’s the Warriors’ night.

And even after Green fouled out with 2:25 left, Curry came up huge time and time again to get Golden State over the finish line.

Curry’s 32 points, eight rebounds, and five assists led the way for the Warriors, while Looney had a career-high 21 points with 12 boards. Jordan Poole scored 23 points off the bench, while Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson combined to score 31. Doncic’s 42 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and three steals stuffed the stat sheet, and Brunson was able to chip in 31 points, seven rebounds, and five dimes.

Game 3 between the Mavericks and Warriors will take place on Sunday night in Dallas. The game is scheduled to tip off at 9 p.m. ET on TNT.

Marcus Smart Led The 2021-22 NBA All-Defensive Teams

The NBA announced the 10 players who made up its first and second-team All-Defensive selections for the 2021-22 campaign on Friday night in the lead-up to Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors. Unsurprisingly, the first team was led by the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart.

While Smart was not an unanimous selection, he appeared on 99 of a possible 100 ballots, all of which came on the first team. The other four players to earn the honor alongside him are Phoenix Suns wing Mikal Bridges, Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr., Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Utah Jazz stalwart Rudy Gobert. Bridges received the second-most first-team nods with 95, while he and Jackson both appeared on 98 of a potential 100 ballots.

The second team was led by Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo, who received the most first-team votes of anyone to not get that honor. Adebayo was joined by guards Jrue Holiday and Matisse Thybulle, forward Draymond Green, and center Robert Williams III.

Here is how the voting played out for both teams, which show that Adebayo just narrowly missed out on earning a first-team selection that instead went to Jackson.

Dad’s TikTok for son showing what his 80s childhood was like is total Gen X nostalgia

As a Gen X parent, it’s weird to try to describe my childhood to my kids. We’re the generation that didn’t grow up with the internet or cell phones, yet are raising kids who have never known a world without them. That difference alone is enough to make our 1980s childhoods feel like a completely different planet, but there are other differences too that often get overlooked.

How do you explain the transition from the brown and orange aesthetic of the ’70s to the dusty rose and forest green carpeting of the ’80s if you didn’t experience it? When I tell my kids there were smoking sections in restaurants and airplanes and ashtrays everywhere, they look horrified (and rightfully so—what were we thinking?!). The fact that we went places with our friends with no quick way to get ahold of our parents? Unbelievable.

One day I described the process of listening to the radio, waiting for my favorite song to come on so I could record it on my tape recorder, and how mad I would get when the deejay talked through the intro of the song until the lyrics started. My Spotify-spoiled kids didn’t even understand half of the words I said.

And ’80s hair? With the feathered bangs and the terrible perms and the crunchy hair spray? What, why and how?

In some ways, that era was simpler. We weren’t bombarded with information and opinions about every issue in the world 24/7 and had the freedom to just be kids. At the same time, I personally have no desire to go back. (My straight, fine hair was not made for the ’80s.)

However, one dad is bringing full-on nostalgia to millions of Gen Xers with a viral TikTok he made about sharing his ’80s childhood with his 8-year-old son. Justin H (who goes by @shadyraro on TikTok) included photos and descriptions of things all ’80s kids will recognize and it’s like hopping into a time machine.

Like, the unwound cassette tape struggle was genuinely real. Grab a pencil, start winding and pray. “The A-Team”? Totally. Streetlight curfew? Yep.

The video has been viewed more than 10 million times this week, with commenters neck-deep in their feelings about their childhood flashbacks.

“I miss them days, technology has taken away so much,” wrote one commenter.

“Miss the 80s era but unfortunately us kids were the remote control,” wrote another. (So true. Changing the channel was exercise.)

“The 80’s cannot be explained…it was an experience…a complete vibe all its own…and if you missed it I’m so sorry for you!” wrote another.

And if you feel like there were some things missing, no worries. There’s a Part Two:

The 80’s was the best decade Part 2 #80s #80skid #oldschool #genx #parents #funny #family #foryou #fyp

The ashtray in the back of the car seat! The phone booth! The Walkman! The overhead projector. So my childhood. I can practically taste the Tang and Twinkies.

Kids today will never know the ugly beauty of growing up in the ’80s, but someday they’ll have their own tales to tell their kids that they’ll look on with fondness and nostalgia. “We used to spend hours building things with little digital blocks in Minecraft…”

There’s never been anything like the ’80s and there never will be again. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Justin H.

Ginger the dog reunited with family 5 years after being stolen

A sweet pup is finally home with her family where she belongs after way too many years away.

Ginger the dog was stolen from her family back in 2017. Her owner, Barney Lattimore of Janesville, Wisconsin, never gave up the hope that his sweet girl was out there somewhere. Whenever he’d see a dog listed on a rescue website or humane society website that even remotely resembled his Ginger, he would inquire about the dog. Unfortunately, it was never her. You’d think that after a while he would stop, but if he had, he likely wouldn’t have gotten the sweetest reunion.

On May 1, the City of Beloit Police Department posted on Facebook about a dog they had found, asking people to call if they had any information. Lattimore saw the post and reached out, believing that this dog could finally be his long lost Ginger. He learned that the pup had been transferred to the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin for care while they searched for the animal’s owner.

So Barney Lattimore rushed to the Humane Society to see if this was indeed his Ginger. I can only imagine how anxiously excited he must have been at the potential reunion. Five years is a long time, especially for a dog. There is no way to know anything about what had happened to her while she was out of his care. Would she still be the same dog she was when she disappeared? Lattimore didn’t care, he just wanted his pet back.

When he arrived at the Humane Society, his prayers were answered. There before him was his baby girl Ginger, after all those years. As soon as they saw each other, it was like no time had passed at all; both of them were just so darn happy to see each other.

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin posted about the reunion on its Facebook page.

“Over 5 years ago, Ginger was stolen from her owner, Barney. Ginger’s family tried everything they could to get her back. They continuously searched for her and every time they saw a dog that resembled her in the slightest, it would ignite a spark of hope that maybe it was her. Throughout the years, they proceeded to adopt new dogs and even welcomed another child into their home, but they never forgot about Ginger,” it wrote.

“Recently, the Beloit Police Department posted on Facebook about a stray female dog, in hopes of reuniting her with her owner. She was eventually brought to HSSW, where we could search as well. After a few days, we received a call from Barney, thinking it was Ginger! When he arrived, staff led Barney to the back of the shelter to make sure it was her. As soon as they saw each other, there was no doubt. The excitement on the family’s faces, as well as Ginger’s, when they were finally reunited was beyond memorable. Ginger is back with her true family and now has the opportunity to meet her new “pack” members and make up for lost time!”

Lattimore replied to the post, saying “I thank everyone. prayers do get answered she’s back home doing well. Thanks again for the love and support. All you people are so amazing and love you all.”

Sometimes, never giving up can have a really happy reward. Barney and Ginger are back together, and this is proof that nothing comes between the bond of a dog parent and their pup.

Red states account for 3 of the top 5 states for clean energy in 2021

Environmentalism, climate change action and the like are terms usually associated with liberal politics in the U.S. That association might lead one to believe that blue states have a leg up on implementing earth-friendly technologies and practices, but that’s not always the case.

In fact, the most recent report from American Clean Power shows the No. 1 state for clean energy installations in 2021 was Texas—a traditionally red state—and it wasn’t even a close contest.

Texas had more than double the clean power additions as the No. 2 state, California, last year—enough to power Delaware and Hawaii combined. After the Golden State came Oklahoma, Florida, New Mexico, Kansas, Illinois, Virginia, Indiana and Georgia. In other words, a total political mix.

According to the Clean Power Report, the states with the highest growth rates for clean power were Alabama, Virginia and Connecticut—also a political split.

In fact, throughout the report, we see states where legislators tend to reject climate change policies actually embracing clean energy sources.

For example, the report shared which states hold the most cumulative capacities for the three primary clean energy sources—wind, solar and battery storage. The top five states in each category are:

WIND

1. Texas

2. Iowa

3. Oklahoma

4. Kansas

5. Illinois

(Four out of five = traditionally red states.)

SOLAR

1. California

2. Texas

3. North Carolina

4. Florida

5. Nevada

(Three out of five = traditionally red states.)

BATTERY STORAGE

1. California

2. Texas

3. Florida

4. Massachusetts

5. Illinois

(Two out of five = traditionally red states.)

So what’s the story here?

There are several reasons why renewable energy is booming in conservative areas.

One is that it simply makes good economic sense. Wind and sun are free and plentiful, so once the initial investment is made in the infrastructure to generate power from them, they are more cost-efficient than fossil fuels.

Another is that these clean energy sources make land more valuable. If farmers and ranchers can lease out their land for a wind turbine or solar farm, it’s good for their bottom line in addition to being good for the Earth. Some see it almost as an insurance policy that keeps them afloat during drought or crop failure years.

A third reason is that these clean energy sources create jobs. Lance Hull, an Oklahoma power plant manager who switched from natural gas to wind power, explained to CNN how the move took the plant from around 30 to 40 employees to about 50, negating the argument that dropping fossil fuels kills jobs.

“There are a lot of jobs with the wind farm that you don’t have at the typical power plant,” Hull said. “Industries change, things change, but there’s a lot of automation in the gas plants as well. It’s automatic control, people monitoring operations. It’s very similar.”

President and founder of the American Conservation Coalition Benji Backer says focusing on those benefits is exactly how to bring more conservative-leaning people into the climate conversation.

“These states aren’t embracing these energy sources because they are necessarily better for the climate,” he tells Upworthy. “They’re doing it because it’s good for the economy, and it’s creating jobs and it’s lowering their energy costs.”

Backer says we need to stay open-minded about how we bring people into the climate dialogue because there are lots of ways to push toward a pro-climate future.

“It doesn’t really matter why people embrace certain energy sources—it’s what actually ends up occurring because they embrace those energy sources,” he says. “There needs to be a bigger focus on tangible, relatable impact in people’s lives, whether that’s improving their day-to-day life by lowering costs or creating a job or creating efficiency in their life.

“Those are the sorts of things people take action on,” he adds. “That builds real support, not just political support, and it allows things to happen like we’ve seen in these red states.”

Backer says focusing on the benefits to people’s daily lives, not what they might lose, is the key to reaching more people with climate change messaging.

“By fighting climate change, we’re giving a lot of opportunities to communities and improving lives, instead of taking away.” he says.

It’s not as if environmental protection is unfamiliar to conservative ideology. In fact, the National Park Service, the United States Forest Service, the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association were all started under Republican presidents. The Clean Air Act of 1970 and the Clean Air Act amendments of 1990 were championed and passed by Republican administrations. A Republican president also signed and ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

There is a long history of conservative conservation (it’s right there in the name, after all), so it’s a shame that the political divide has pushed so many away from those roots. Hopefully, these clean energy numbers are a sign that the tide is turning. Climate change is apolitical and all of us benefit from environmental protection regardless of political ideology. As long as we ultimately end up on the same page with our actions, how and why we get there doesn’t really matter.

‘Super Dad’ Kanye West Showed Up To Kim Kardashian’s House In A Fire Truck And Took His Kids To School In It

For some kids, simply getting a toy fire truck as a gift is the greatest thing ever. But Kanye West’s kids just leveled that dream wayyy up. That’s because Ye showed up to ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s house in a fire truck this week and took his two kids, eight-year-old North and six-year-old Saint to school in it. How dare you people question Kanye West’s ability to be a good father! This is next some next level Super Dad stuff.

The whole thing was captured in the latest episode of The Kardashians. Ye rolls up in the truck and North was in on the plan. He turns to his daughter and says “Did you tell Saint?” To which she replies, “Nope. Mom said it was a surprise.” Three year old Psalm hops on the truck and immediately sits behind the wheel and Kanye jokes with him, “When’d you learn to drive?” When they drive off, an elated North says, “We’re going to school in a fire truck!”

It’s a refreshing scene to see for West, whose troubling behavior earlier this year has seen him repeatedly take shots at Kardashian and her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson. He openly said that he thought Davidson would get Kardashian “hooked on drugs” and famously depicted an animated version of Davidson getting kidnapped, buried, and turned into a plant in the “Eazy” video. In weathering the storm, Kardashian said she hoped that “we are the ‘co-parenting goals’ at the end of the day.” West seems to be doing his part with this over-the-top, but frankly, adorable, display

“I think sometimes people are kinda bashful to be super dads,” Kanye said. “Everybody wants to be a cool dad and sometimes you just gotta wear the fire hat. Sometime you gotta wear the Easter bunny costume.”

How To Make Perfect Tortilla Chips For Homemade Nachos & Guacamole

The perfect tortilla chip is hard to find — we know, we’ve tried. There are a lot of factors to consider, salt to corn flavor ratio, structural integrity, and shape. In the market aisle, you’re spoiled with choices, with wide-ranging variations on the simple snack including white corn, yellow corn, blue corn, triangles, rounds, strips, and scoops.

It’s pretty overwhelming. But as someone who has had most (if not all) of the brands available nationwide, I can say with confidence that none of them come close to being as good as what you can easily make with those stale tortillas at the end of the pack sitting in your fridge.

The perfect homemade tortilla chip is crispy, salty, and thick enough to handle being drudged through guacamole, and salsa. It’s also strong enough to handle the weight of mounds of refried beans, cheese, and whatever else you like on your nachos. You can use them as a base for your breakfast chilaquiles, win the cookout with your from scratch nachos, and have the perfect chip to dip and scoop in whatever you love to dip and scoop in, from cheese to guacamole, to salsa, to bean dip, and hummus!

And all you’ll need is three ingredients. So let’s make the best homemade tortilla chips you’ll ever eat and say goodbye to the store-bought stuff forever.

Homemade Corn Tortilla Chips

Ingredients:

Best Tortilla Chips
Dane Rivera
  • Corn tortilla (white or yellow, whatever your preference)
  • Neutral high heat cooking oil (pick your poison, canola, avocado, and vegetable are fine options, I used peanut so I could fry them hot and fast)
  • Salt (kosher salt, sea salt, table salt, use what you’ve got. I like coarse ground Kosher personally).

You can get picky about what type of corn tortilla you want to use, but at the end of the day, I think the best practice is to use whatever you have in your fridge. Choosing between white and yellow isn’t that important — what you want to make sure above all else is that you’re using stale corn tortillas. Stale tortilla chips will crisp up better (they have less moisture!), giving you a crispier end result.

The best practice is to cut your corn tortilla the night before you plan on making chips and let them sit in the fridge or under a plate, unwrapped, until the next day. They’ll be nice and stale and perfect for frying. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t do this, but fresher tortillas will result in a more pliable chip, so at the very least throw them in the oven at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes to dry them out.

Method:

Dane Rivera

Stack anywhere between 4-8 corn tortillas and cut them into equal triangles. This will make enough chips for two servings of nachos. There are several ways you can cut your tortillas, I used very small street food-style corn tortillas so I cut them with a single horizontal and vertical cut, giving me four chips per tortilla. If you have bigger tortillas or want to produce more chips you can cut them into sixths, or use two to three equal vertical and horizontal cuts to make strips and triangles. My tortillas were clearly too small to turn into strips, so I went with triangles.

Personally, I prefer a big triangular chip that allows me to double dip or serve as a strong foundation to build homemade nachos on top of. So that’s how I cut my stack but you do you. (To reiterate: Once your tortillas are cut, let them sit for at least an hour (or let them sit overnight for chilaquiles) and fry when noticeably stale and dry to the touch.)

Heat the neutral cooking oil of your choice over medium-high heat until the oil starts to ripple. If this is your first time, cook your tortillas in batches, making sure not to let the tortillas crowd and overlap one another. They’re going to fry fast and if you aren’t prepared for that, you will burn your tortillas. My pan is only 10-inches, I make tortilla chips all the time so… I’m crowding. Don’t do this at home folks.

Flip your tortillas after about two minutes and let them fry for an additional minute on the other side and remove them onto a paper towel-lined plate or bowl to drain the excess oil. Don’t worry if your tortilla still looks white or yellow, they’ll darken after a few seconds out of the oil. If your chips are even the least bit brown while still in the oil, you fucked up, they’re burnt.

Best Tortilla Chips
Dane Rivera

Before your chips cool, sprinkle a pinch of your favorite style salt. You want to salt your chips while they are still hot, this way the salt adheres to the chip instead of rolling off. This goes for any other seasonings you want to do. Mix it up and combine paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, chili powder, and cayenne pepper, and you’ve got yourself the best Dorito you’ve ever eaten in your life.

If you forget this crucial step, squeeze some fresh lime across your bed of chips and then add the salt afterward.

Once your tortillas cool you now have the perfect chip to dip, build nachos upon, or use for chilaquiles.

The Bottom Line:

Best Tortilla Chips
Dane Rivera

This recipe is so easy to nail that after you’ve made your first batch of tortilla chips, you’ll wonder why you, or anyone, fucks with the store-bought stuff.

Instead of an over-salted chip that breaks on the way from the store shelf to your pantry, you have a structurally sound tortilla chip that provides a pleasing, audible crunch and can handle the thickest, sauciest and heaviest dips.

People can’t get enough of this fierce mama raccoon who claimed a trash can for her babies

In a video recently released by The Dodo—the beloved source of all sweet animal things—a female raccoon is spotted peeking her little eyes and paws from inside a public trash bin.

It’s the kind with a top lid, making it her private cave. Meaning anyone who comes close is a trespasser. She aggressively swipes at anyone who dares approach.

The man taking the video is a professional animal rehabilitator of some sort and clearly knows what’s up. He’s seen warning passersby to “don’t go near there! There’s a raccoon in there!”

Despite the handler’s smooth talking and gentle maneuvering, Miss Raccoon is not happy as she wriggles and screeches. But still, she is successfully removed from her post.

And then, small chirps continue from the bin…

Cuddled up in the corner of the can, under a blanket of red coffee cups, are six raccoon kits, only about 21 days old. The sounds they make are unbelievably cute. Like, cartoon-in-real-life cute.

A litter of raccoons might not be the first thing we expect to see when we toss our takeout, but it makes sense. The inside of a trash can is usually warm, enclosed and small—everything that a raccoon likes to make a shelter. Especially when they need to keep little ones safe and sound.

But of course, in this case (being smack dab in a public place), the sanctuary would be short-lived for Mama Raccoon.

But never fear: Mama Raccoon might have been temporarily upset, but the family has been safely relocated to the wild.

If you’d like to see even more family photos of these adorable trash pandas, you can go to the Gates’ Wildlife Control’s Instagram, where you can catch gems like this one.

A big shoutout to all the fierce mamas of the world. So glad this family found their way to a safe home.

First-graders honored as ‘heroes’ for helping their teacher during a medical emergency

Educators are almost always the heroes of their classrooms, but earlier this year at Cedar Hill Elementary in Ardmore, Alabama, a group of first-graders showed amazing courage by helping their teacher during a medical emergency.

First-grade teacher Tracy Hodges began experiencing blurry vision on January 20 when her students sat down after singing and marching in a music exercise. Attendance was low that day, with only 12 out of 18 children in attendance due to COVID-19.

“Mrs. Hodges was shaking and we thought she was just joking,” Dalton Widener, 6, who was in the classroom at the time, said according to USA Today. “Then she fell out of the chair and hit her head.”

“She fell out of the chair and her glasses fell off and she dropped,” Emily Johnson, 7, added.

“I couldn’t even find the door and I couldn’t make out the three children who were sitting in front of me,” said Hodges.

Before Hodges lost consciousness, she made a last-ditch attempt to tell the children to get help but wasn’t sure if they understood. But the kids got the message. Ten students took to the hallways to get help while the remaining two stayed behind to watch over their teacher.

“Some people went and got the other teacher and then we went and got the nurse,” said Widener.

The librarian saw the children in the hallway and directed them away from their classroom, unsure of the severity of Hodges’ condition. “I just grabbed them and didn’t have a clue what was going on, but grabbed them and kind of comforted them and just tried to keep them calm until we could figure out what was going on,” said librarian Heather Snyder.

When Hodges woke up, she was surrounded by teachers and medical personnel. The kids were the only witnesses to the event, so one of them told the paramedics what had happened.

When Hodges arrived at the hospital she learned the seizure was caused by COVID-19, which she didn’t even know she had. After a few days, she recovered from her fall and the illness and she was later able to return to the classroom.

The students were commended for their bravery the next month at a school assembly where they were presented with medals and given a new name, “Hodges’ Heroes.”

“There were many heroes that day,” said Cedar Hill Elementary School Principal Glen Garner. “Everyone stepped up that day because that’s what heroes do, but none so more than you. Hodges’ Heroes, that’s the class I know.”

After hearing about the students’ bravery, Marvel Studios and Dole teamed up to give the kids a little more hero treatment. A Dole representative came to the school and gave each student hero certificates, Marvel masks, capes and a healthy banana split.

Hodges is glad that she had the seizure when she did. “I think I was in the right place at the right time because had I been home I would have been by myself,” she told WUSA9.

“I just thank God every day for them,” Hodges said, according to WHNT.

Pete Davidson Reportedly Began Listening To Kris Jenner’s Advice Before Word Of His Impending ‘SNL’ Departure Arrived

Pete Davidson’s hasn’t been on SNL as long as Kenan Thompson, of course (because no one has), but eight years ain’t nothing to scoff at. He joined the cast in 2014 at age 20 and has kept jokes about his mom’s basement going strong all along. He’s also earned the admiration of Martha Stewart and the contempt of Ted Cruz (both of them equally coveted) by dating a string of lovely Hollywood ladies. Of course, he’s currently dating Kim Kardashian, and although he’s not tapped to appear on this season of Hulu’s The Kardashian, it appears that he’s getting growing tight with the family.

A source that spoke with Us Weekly (which is totally not Kris Jenner) has revealed that (ever since Kim’s divorce from Kanye West went through), it’s been on like Donkey Kong because Kim and Pete can now “attend events together and be in public.” They attended the White House Correspondents Dinner together and the Met Gala, and they’re apparently as close as can be. And with word of Pete being expected to leave SNL leaving following this season’s finale, it’s worth going back to note the Us report, which details how being around the Kardashians has made Pete think more about the future. He’s got “longevity” in mind and even looks to Kris for advice. Here’s an excerpt:

“[T]he insider revealed that Kardashian, 41, has influenced Davidson’s outlook on his future, saying, “Kim has also made Pete grow up in a big way and think about his future and business in a huge way. He’s investing, saving and thinking about longevity for the first time. He goes to Kris [Jenner] for advice.”

Of course, it must be mentioned that Pete’s movie career has been on the upswing for a handful of years. There was the starring role in Judd Apatow’s The King of Staten Island and a tinier-but-still-high-profile turn in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. And there’s much more on the way, including an A24 movie, which says a lot about his booming cred. He may or may not actually be listening to Kris, but whatever he was doing already has been working, so good on ya, Pete.

(Via Us Weekly)
