The Heat Torched The Hawks To Take Game 1 Of Their First Round Series

The Atlanta Hawks fought their way into the 8-seed in the East by beating the Hornets on Wednesday and then the Cavs on Friday, earning them a trip to Miami for a quick turnaround as the 1 p.m. tipoff on Sunday against the Heat.

Both teams came out sluggish, struggling to establish an offensive rhythm as they combined to go 3-of-15 from the floor out of the gates. Atlanta made just three field goals in the first quarter but managed to stay within six points of the Heat going into the second, which gave false hope they might eventually figure something out against Miami’s swarming defense. While that never happened, Miami was able to find a spark for their offense in the form of Duncan Robinson, who came off the bench and lit up the Atlanta defense to help the Heat open up a 19-point halftime lead.

On the other end of the floor, the Heat were relentless against Trae Young, forcing the Hawks’ star into one of the worst performances of his young career as he went 1-for-12 from the field (0-for-7 from three) and finished with eight points and six turnovers on the afternoon. Miami’s ball pressure and aggressive switching gave Young problems, as he could not exploit Miami’s bigs as he’s used to, with Bam Adebayo and PJ Tucker capable of staying in front of him and using their length and quick hands to disrupt his rhythm — and when he stayed away from screens, Kyle Lowry was there to pester him.

None of the other Hawks fared any better against the Miami defense, and that will be the thing to watch going forward in this series, as someone other than Young is going to have to find some success creating for themselves and others given the amount of attention the Heat are giving Young.

The second half saw more of the same, with ferocious defense from Miami and tremendous shooting. Tucker joined Robinson in having a big night from distance, hitting all four of his threes (all from his favorite spot in the corner) as any inkling of a run from Atlanta was snuffed out quickly by a Heat answer.

As Miami opened up a 30-point lead in the second half, it was on the backs of more outrageous shooting from Robinson, as well as Jimmy Butler getting loose as he put up 21 points in 33 minutes of action.

By the mid-fourth quarter the Heat finally called off the dogs and coasted to a 115-91 win, with Atlanta putting forth arguably its worst offensive performance of the season, shooting 39.2 percent as a team, including 28.6 percent from three that seemed worse than that final number indicates. Miami, on the other hand, shot 52.4 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from distance, which are insurmountable shooting percentages for any team to overcome.

It seems likely Atlanta won’t shoot that poorly and Miami won’t shoot that well going forward in the series, but it’s notable the difference in shot quality from both teams. The amount of work it took for the Hawks to get a good look in this game was rather staggering, particularly for Young, while the Heat were much more consistently able to create open shots and get good looks at the rim.

How Atlanta adjusts after seeing how Miami is going to attack Young will be fascinating, as nothing about their defensive effort seemed all that unsustainable. Shooters around Young will need to be better and Nate McMillan tried to work Young off the ball more in the second quarter, offering a glimpse at how they might try to free him up for better looks by taking the ball out of his hands to start possessions. On the other side, Miami will feel very good about its gameplan and will simply look to keep things rolling in Game 2 on Tuesday night.

A Florida Man Scored A Guinness World Record By Going To See ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Nearly 300 Times

Marvel movies, if you haven’t noticed, are a bit popular. Among the most beloved is the most recent one: Spider-Man: No Way Home, which in a very short amount of time became by far the biggest moneymaker since the pandemic began in 2020. But one person appears to like it more than most.

As per CNN, a Florida resident named Ramiro Alanis scored a Guinness world record after seeing the threequel a total of 292 times. Let’s break that down. No Way Home runs a whopping 148 minutes — that’s two minutes longer than Goodfellas! — meaning Alanis spent 720 hours, or 30 days, of his life watching multiple Peter Parkers try to save the multiverse. He estimates that cost him around $3,400 over the span of three months.

For his troubles, Alanis scored a very specific Guinness record: “most cinema productions attended of the same film.”

It’s not the first time Alanis nabbed that trophy. In 2019, he made news for seeing Avengers: Endgame a total of 191 times. (That’s nearly 580 hours, or about 24 days.) Alas, his first record was beaten last year by Arnaud Klein, who saw the French fantasy film Kaamelott: First Installment, featuring Sting, 204 times.

In any case, congrats! And please head to the gym because that’s a lot of sitting, and if you haven’t got your health you haven’t got anything.

BTS Reveals That Their Next Album Will Come Out In June

Over the past few years, BTS reached new heights in their worldwide stardom as the Korean band made an impact in the western hemisphere. It started with records like 2019’s “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey and 2020’s “On,” which both made for the group’s first top-ten entry on the Billboard 200. BTS’ stardom was cemented at the end of 2020 when they locked in back-to-back No. 1 songs with “Dynamite” and “Life Goes On.” Last year, BTS earned themselves three more chart-topping songs with “My Universe” alongside Coldplay, “Butter,” and “Permission To Dance.” The latter two records are set to appear on the band’s upcoming album, which they just gave an exciting update about.

According to Consequence, during the final show of their Las Vegas residency, which took place on Saturday, BTS teased that will drop a new album on June 10. They did so with a video that captured clips from their lengthy. It ended with “WE ARE BULLETPROOF” and the release date appearing on the screen. The phrase seems to reference BTS’ original name, “Bulletproof Boy Scouts,” and their debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool.

After the Vegas show, BTS’ label, BigHit Music, confirmed that the band’s new album would indeed arrive on June 10 thanks to a message to fans over the weekend. The release date for their upcoming album, which would be their first since 2020’s Be, falls in line with BTS’ ninth anniversary as a group and their annual BTS Festa which is on June 13 this year.

Trump Released A Bizarre Easter Message For All The ‘Radical Left Maniacs’

Donald J. Trump is kind of an awkward guy. He’s incapable of doing simple things without making them weird. He can’t talk to children about Christmas without telling them Santa Claus isn’t real. And he can’t wish everyone a happy Easter without smearing a good chunk of the nation.

On the day of the Christian holiday, while many were in church celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the former president was firing off one of his glorified press releases, which he still does despite owning a social media service so bad even he doesn’t use it.

“Happy Easter to all including the Radical Left Maniacs who are doing everything possible to destroy our Country,” the frontrunner for the Republican presidential ticket in 2024 wrote. “May they not succeed, but let them, nevertheless, be happy, healthy, wealthy, and well!”

It’s a profoundly Trumpian statement, a mix of bile and unconvincing graciousness towards his many, many enemies, which at this point includes most of the planet. Then again, Trump has never been great with Easter. He botched his first Easter egg roll in the White House, in part by allowing himself to be photographed alongside a nerdy version of the holiday’s mascot, giving the world one of his countless unflattering photos. ‘Mad Men’ Alum Kiernan Shipka Would Love To Return To Her Character: ‘I’m Not Done With Sally’

Revivals are all the rage nowadays, but in the seven years since Mad Men ended on a high note, no one has tried to bring it back. But one of its supporting players has now expressed interest in returning to the role that made her name.

That person is Keirnan Shipka, who broke out playing Sally Draper, the younger, impressionable daughter of Jon Hamm’s advertising wizard Don. The actress went on to nab her own show, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a darker take on the Archie Comi character Sabrina the Teenage Witch that ran for two seasons. But what she’d really like to do is go back to where she started.

“I’m not done with Sally,” Shipka recently told ET. “I don’t think she’d be in New York. I think she’d do L.A… But I’m not done with her at all.”

When Mad Men ended, Sally was in her teens, having watched as her parents’ marriage crumbled and her dad grappled with both his job and his secretly stolen identity. It left off in the shaggy ’70s, but Shipka would love to see how Sally handles the Reagan ’80s, when the materialism that went out of fashion over Mad Men’s time span roared back with a vengeance.

Mind you, much as Kiefer Sutherland recently expressed vague interest in returning to 24 hero Jack Bauer, Shipka isn’t openly announcing a Mad Men spinoff. She’s simply throwing this out there, and maybe something will happen or it won’t.

Brockhampton Announce That Their Final Album Will Be Released This Year

A little over a year ago, Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract announced that the group would release their final two albums in 2021. “Everybody just getting a lil older and got a lot to say outside of group projects,” Abstract later said about the decision for the band to come to an eventual end. The first of their two projects, Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine, arrived in April 2021 with help from ASAP Rocky, ASAP Ferg, Jpegmafia, Danny Brown, and more. As for their next project, which would be their last one, Brockhampton gave an update about it during their Coachella set on Saturday.

According to Billboard, Brockhampton took the stage with matching Adidas Originals varsity jackets with the band’s logo and a quote on the back that read, “all good things must come to an end.” It came after the band previously announced that they would take an “indefinite hiatus” after a few more shows. During a performance on “Bankroll,” Brockhampton’s Merlyn took the mic and said, “My name’s Merlyn and I just wanted to say I love all of y’all, but it’s not a comeback because we not coming back.”

The band played records like “Sweet,” “Bleach” and “Sugar” during their set, and as things came to a close, a video of Abstract telling the band that he made an album in New York City appeared on the screen. Afterward, a message appeared on the screen that read: “THE FINAL ALBUM 2022.”

‘SNL’ Weekend Update Took On Elon Musk, The Brooklyn Subway Shooter, And Paid Tribute To Gilbert Gottfried

It was yet another chaotic week for the world, and SNL’’s Weekend Update was there for it. Among the bizarro news was Elon Musk, the troll-iest of billionaires, threatening to buy Twitter, the social media service that dared boot the most dangerous president in American history.

“Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter for over $40 billion so he can loosen its free speech rules,” Michael Che said. “That’s how badly white guys want to use the ‘n-word.’”

“Honestly, I don’t understand why Elon even wants to own Twitter,” Colin Jost said. “It used to be something that seemed important and even fun and now you look at it and it’s confusing and depressing. It’s the Giuliani of apps.” He added, “Plus, Twitter isn’t even that profitable anymore. It just feels like a bad business decision. And I say that as someone who bought a Staten Island Ferry with Pete [Davidson],” a reference to an actual, questionable thing that happened.

The segment didn’t shy away from the scariest thing to happen in their city this week: a man shooting up a subway in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park, but thankfully not killing anyone. Che talked about how he was arrested after calling a tipline (though not without some help from the city’s latest hero). Over a photo of the suspect, Frank James, being carried out on a perp walk and not exactly looking in shape in a purple t-shirt, Che cracked that “judging from this photo, he was auditioning for the role of Grimace.”

At the end came a brief nod to another tragic story: the passing of legendary comic — and 1980 SNL cast member — Gilbert Gottfried. Neither Che nor Jost mentioned him by name, but the segment concluded with a photo tribute to Hollywood Squares’ greatest contributor.

Isaiah Rashad Responded To His Alleged Sex Tape Leak During His Coachella Performance

Last year was a great year for Isaiah Rashad. After nearly five long years, he returned with his sophomore album The House Is Burning. Thanks to features from Lil Uzi Vert, Jay Rock, SZA, 6lack, Doechii, and more, The House Is Burning stood out as one of the better rap projects in 2021. This year was supposed to be an even better one for Rashad, but things took an unexpected turn when his alleged sex tape was leaked. The incident was another example of social media’s cruelty, but through it, the good side of it was shown as a large number of fans made sure to send him love after the leak.

Rashad held his first performance since the leak at this weekend’s Coachella festival and it’s here that took the opportunity to respond to the alleged leak. He did so through an introduction video that he played before beginning his set. “The purpose of doing that was to embarrass him,” a voice in the video said. “However, it backfired. When his video leaked, his streams and everything went up. He’s up on the charts now.” The video also featured clips from The Game, Joe Budden, Akademiks, and more

He would go on to play highlights from The House Is Burning like “RIP Young” and “Headshots.” Rashad also brought out Doechii for “Wat U Sed” and her new song “Crazy” and SiR for a performance of “Rope // Rosegold” from The Sun’s Tirade.

“I see all the messages and all that sh*t, all the positivity,” Rashad said before closing his set. “Y’all n****s done kept me alive these last couple months.”

Elon Musk Tries To Buy Easter In The ‘SNL’ Cold Open

It’s a big weekend: Easter is upon us, Passover has just begun, Ramadan is halfway through, and Coachella is on its first weekend. With all that and more, SNL kicked off its latest episode. Bowen Yang started the show as the Easter Bunny, welcoming everyone to “warm Halloween” and introducing himself as the “freakiest” holiday character: a “man-sized bunny with no back story.”

Yang then introduced a cavalcade of guests to ring in the Christian holiday. There was Kate McKinnon as Dr. Anthony Fauci. (“I’m still here. Turns out I’m like glitter: No matter how hard you try to get rid of me, I’m still in your hair and sometimes in your face.”) There was Cecily Strong’s Marjorie Taylor Greene. (“I’m worried about Easter. Between the pastels and the jelly beans, this holiday has gotten a little too LGQRST for me.”) Chris Redd brought back his Eric Adams and Kyle Mooney appeared as not Jesus but Jared Leto.

Mikey Day appeared as Elon Musk, joking about buying Easter (“I am offering 43 billion Peeps”), which would be better than him buying Twitter. Finally there was James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump, who barged in, despite not being invited, and rambled so weirdly about knowing Reese’s (the snack) and going to “Count Chocula’s 500th birthday” that Yang’s Easter Bunny just peaced out.

You can watch the sketch in the video above.
