A resourceful nonverbal teen lost in the woods is rescued after clinking rocks together

A 16-year-old developmentally disabled teen went on a hike with his mother and sister in the mountains near Los Angeles on the morning of Sunday, April 3 when he ran off into the trees and disappeared. The family called the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department for help, but after six hours they still couldn’t find him.

The situation was stressful because the teen is nonverbal and couldn’t call out for help or reveal his location. His family had no idea whether he was injured or how far he had gone into the forest.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department brought together the Montrose Search and Rescue Team, Glendale and Burbank police, the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team and the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue Team to help in the search. They didn’t have much to go on but the boy’s mother told Montrose Search and Rescue Deputy Steve Goldsworthy that he had an affection for rocks. “He will go out of his way to kick a rock, pick up a rock, throw a rock,” Goldsworthy said.

“Several hours into the search, a Montrose team member heard what sounded like the clinking of rocks together,” the Montrose Search and Rescue Team wrote on Facebook. “Remembering that the missing person had an interest in playing with rocks, he investigated further. He also directed the Burbank PD airship to look down the canyon.”

“I could hear the rocks hit, and a slight echo. I could hear that three different times,” Goldsworthy said.

The search and rescue team found the boy 400 feet over the side of a fire road.

“Our team member went down the mountainside and made contact with the missing person,” the search and rescue team said. The wonderful thing was that the team knew he had developmental issues and approached him with care.

“Recognizing the sensitivity of the situation, he worked to build a rapport with the teenager. After gaining the trust of the missing person, he led him up the mountain to safety. Once at the top, he was treated by paramedics and released to his family,” the search and rescue team wrote.

When they first encountered the boy he was sitting beneath an oak tree.

After the rescuers gained the boy’s trust, they were able to walk him up the hill, have him looked over by paramedics and reunite him with his family. “Our Department was thrilled this incident had a happy ending,” the Sheriff’s department wrote.

The Montrose Search and Rescue Team used the situation to promote a program that provides peace of mind for people with developmental disabilities and those who care for them. “If you have a loved one who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia, Autism, or other cognitive disorders, consider applying for Project Lifesaver,” the team wrote on Facebook.

People enrolled in Project Lifesaver wear a small transmitter on their wrist or ankle that emits an individualized frequency signal. If they go missing, the caregiver notifies their local Project Lifesaver agency, and a trained emergency team responds to the wanderer’s area.

The program is a nonprofit that combines tracking technology that, in partnership with local police, fire and rescue teams, can quickly locate people who have wandered from their homes and families.

The CEO Of Trump’s Badly Failing Social Media App Hilariously Claims That They Are ‘Beating Twitter’

Donald Trump’s Twitter rip-off, Truth Social, is disintegrating in real-time as top company execs quit, users complain about censorship, and sign-up rates plummet but CEO Devin Nunes is doing his best to dissassociate from reality by making some bold claims about how hugely successful the platform actually is.

The problem? It’s all lies, and Nunes hasn’t even done a good job of covering up the smell.

In a recent interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo (via The Daily Beast), Nunes was asked to comment on Elon Musk’s new stake in Twitter. The controversial billionaire has a controlling amount of shares in the company and was recently named to its board. Bartiromo gave Nunes’ social media site a bit too much credit when asking what he thought of the change in leadership at the rival tech firm. Yet Nunes threw everyone for a loop by claiming that though Musk will likely try to make changes, Truth Social is already outperforming Twitter.

No really. Here’s his exact quote:

“It’s clear that Twitter is kind of a ghost town,” Nunes said. “There’s not very much activity over at Twitter right now, especially when you compare it to sites like ours. Our interactions are already beating Twitter.”

Both Bartiromo and a panel of experts proceeded to grill Nunes on his company’s many failings — a long waitlist and a glitchy app rollout on Apple’s iTunes store among them — but the ex-congressman stuck to his script, reiterating his belief that, once all of the “bots” were taken out of the equation, Twitter would simply be a “house of cards.”

Over 200 million users would likely disagree, but sure Jan, go off.

Oh, So There Are Still Some Steamy ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2 Scenes That Viewers Didn’t Get To See?

Bridgerton still managed to maintain momentum with a Duke-less season, and overall, the story (bolstered by an on-point soundtrack) still managed to put a dagger to the Regency Era while batting around some of its conventions that arguably persist today. Even with a lesser amount of steam, the series still broke viewing records for Netflix, even though, sure, a contingent of fans could have done with more sex scenes.

It is saying something that Anthony Bridgerton managed to court one woman and marry another and still ended up being more randy in the first season. And if one looks at his eventual marriage to Kate, the season ended at a point where we didn’t see much of Kate and Anthony’s newlywed life. This deprives viewers of what John Oliver described as the “jizzing in blankets” phenomenon, which is super sad. But I mean, maybe you can visualize that happening by looking at Season 2 moments and squinting really hard?

Bridgerton Season 2
Netflix

Well, maybe not. Yet according to the show’s intimacy coordinator, Lizzy Talbot, it sure sounds like more sex scenes were filmed and ended up on the cutting room floor. Here’s what Talbot told Glamour:

We always do more than we need to so there are many options in the edit. I think that that’s a really important thing. I know people have been frustrated that there haven’t been more [sex scenes], but part of it is that we want to give our absolute best. There are loads of scenes that don’t make the final edit–that’s just the world of film. What we are really confident in is that the sex scenes that are in, we’re really proud of.

For more insight on all of this, the full Glamour piece is worth reading, including Talbot’s weigh-in on eye contact during a pivotal sex scene. Yet the bottom line from Talbot is that Bridgerton producers are looking for these scenes to help propel the narrative, and those scenes that don’t do so (no matter the context) simply don’t make the cut. However, I am sure that Bridgerton fans would not mind watching any of these cut scenes in a standalone fashion, should Netflix choose to push out some sort of blooper-esque reel.

God save the blankets!

Tiger Woods Shot A 1-Under 71 In His First Round At The Masters Since His Car Crash

Tiger Woods wasn’t supposed to be at the 2022 Masters, given it was taking place less than 14 months after a horrific car crash left him hospitalized and needing significant surgery on his right leg. However, on Thursday, the 5-time green jacket winner strolled to the first tee at Augusta National and proceeded to look an awful lot like the man who has the second most major championships of all time.

Woods would start his day with five consecutive pars, showing off a quality swing and some strong nerves on the greens to get up and down and keep a clean card through a difficult opening stretch.

It was the par-3 sixth that produced the shot of the day from Woods, as he took dead aim at the pin with a 6-iron, flighting down a little cut that found the back tier and skipped to a stop inside three feet from the cup, yielding his first birdie of the day.

He would give that birdie back at the par-5 eighth thanks to some poor short game, as there was some apparent rust with his wedges around the green that still needs to be knocked off, but kept grinding from there to make a number of solid pars. From a full swing perspective, his miss all day was left off the tee, as he was clearly having some issues clearing out his right side and ended up pivoting around himself, tugging a few tee shots into the left trees. That happened on the ninth, when we got a vintage Tiger moment when his ball zipped off the front of the green and we got a hot mic f-bomb from the Big Cat.

Throughout the day, his escape artistry was on full display, with the most notable effort being on 14 where he unleashed a vintage Tiger lash from the pine straw, hoisting a ball up and over the trees and just over the back of the green.

Woods would make bogey there after being unable to get up and down, but would get it back shortly. A pair of left swings again on 15 forced him into just a par on the par-5, as he went even par across the four 5s at Augusta, a rarity for a player who typically punishes those holes. However, after that Woods arrived at a hole where he has created some of his most indelible masterpieces, the par-3 16th, where he found the proper tier for the back left hole location and poured in a birdie putt to send the Augusta patrons into a frenzy.

A stress-free par on 17 brought him to the 18th where the snappy left miss popped up once again off the tee, as he missed miles left and was actually on the 10th hole more than 300 yards from the green — but had an angle to get a long layup. Woods advanced it to just inside 80 yards and skipped a wedge to inside 10 feet, paying it off with yet another grindy par putt to post a 1-under 71.

It was as impressive a round of golf as you’ll see, as there were some dodgy swings and occasional winces, but for the most part he looked like one of the world’s best golfers again. Considering where he was a year ago, that’s an unbelievable turnaround and, sitting just three shots back, Woods proved that he wasn’t lying when he said he felt like his game was in a place where he could win a sixth green jacket.

Jack White Reveals The Guitar Advice That Prince Gave Him

It’s no secret that Jack White is a huge Prince fan. White’s Third Man Records label is even slated to release Prince’s mythical Camille album — where Prince performs as his feminine alter ego — sometime this year. In fact, the first time White tried to buy one of the Camille album’s 25 copies on vinyl, he was outbid by Questlove. Prince nerds, amiright? But the geekery for White runs deep. Imagine if you’re one of the world’s premier guitarists and you happen to be sitting within an earshot of Prince, and The Purple One himself gives you some sage advice about the axe. That’s what happened to White once and he explained the encounter in a very thorough recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.

The meeting happened at a concert where Zoë Kravitz had come to sing with The Citizens Band, the political cabaret project of White’s ex-wife Karen Elson. As the show began and the lights went down, someone bumped White and told him that Prince was siting right behind him and soon, the pair had a memorable exchange:

“He started talking about nobility,” White begins. “The phrase he had said to me was like, ‘No one is going to tell you how to play your guitar, Jack.’ And he talked about the James Bond song I had just done. And he said, ‘I really like it.’ And I said, ‘Oh, that’s great, because some people, it’s like making a song for Star Wars fans or something. You’re throwing yourself into the sea of it. It’s a very divisive track.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, I thought it was real strong.’”

White and Lowe break out in laughter at the punchline and move on. Considering White and Elson divorced in 2013, this exchange definitely happened before then. And White’s “Another Way To Die” theme song to Bond’s Quantum of Solace film came out in 2008. So if that was top of mind for Prince, this conversation likely went down in 2008 or 2009. And the rest, as they say, is guitar history. Watch the entire Zane Lowe interview with White below, the Prince story begins at around the 17:55 mark.

The New ‘Better Call Saul’ Final Season Teaser Is Here And No One Is Doing All That Great

We are less than two weeks away from the return of Better Call Saul, which means we are a mere four months away from the final episode of Better Call Saul (the season is being split into two parts). That sounds like a lot of time, but before you know it, it’ll be August 15, the date of the series finale, and we’ll either be celebrating or chucking our televisions off the balcony, depending on the fate of one Kim Wexler.

Ahead of the premiere, AMC released a new teaser for season six, featuring a long line of clients outside of Saul’s nail salon office, Kim’s tight-as-ever ponytail, Mike’s bald-as-ever head, Saul yelling about violence, and Nacho on the phone asking, “What happens now?” No one, especially Nacho, is doing great. Except for us, the viewers.

Here’s what else to expect in the final season:

Better Call Saul’s final season concludes the complicated journey and transformation of its compromised hero, Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), into criminal lawyer Saul Goodman. From the cartel to the courthouse, from Albuquerque to Omaha, Season 6 tracks Jimmy, Saul and Gene as well as Jimmy’s complex relationship with Kim (Rhea Seehorn), who is in the midst of her own existential crisis. Meanwhile, Mike (Jonathan Banks), Gus (Giancarlo Esposito), Nacho (Michael Mando) and Lalo (Tony Dalton) are locked into a game of cat and mouse with mortal stakes.

You can watch the teaser below:

Better Call Saul returns on April 18 for the first and second of six episodes, followed by the midseason finale on May 23. It picks up again July 11, with the finale on August 15.

21 Savage’s Immigration Case Has Been Delayed By Criminal Charges Against Him

Over a year after being detained by ICE over his expired visa, 21 Savage was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm. Those charges are now affecting his fight for legal immigration status, according to his lawyer Charles Kuck. TMZ reports Kuck says that due to the criminal charges, Savage’s immigration case has been put on pause until the charges can be resolved.

The charges stem from the rapper’s initial arrest in February of 2019, when federal agents and police say they found a handgun in his car after he threw an empty bottle of codeine out of the vehicle. However, charges weren’t filed against him until September of 2021 — which Kuck believes was prompted by an ICE request after the rapper’s plight threw unwanted attention on the organization. ICE was already under scrutiny for its handling of the ongoing border crisis, and the negative publicity from arresting the “Bank Account” rapper only brought harsher criticism.

The ICE case was initially prompted by felony drug charges against the rapper which, by the time he was arrested had already been vacated. Meanwhile, Savage, who is originally from the UK and had been living in the US on an expired visa since he was 13 without knowing it, was already looking to correct his visa status at the time he was arrested, which his lawyers believe was the real reason ICE targeted him. Since his immigration case is ongoing, he cannot leave the country, although he is allowed to travel domestically for shows.

A New ‘Gran Turismo 7’ Patch Makes The Grind For Credits Slightly Easier

Gran Turismo 7 may be a great racing game, but it is not without its flaws. The biggest problem that most players have had with GT7 so far is the grind they’re asking players to go through to try and get new cars. In franchises like Gran Turismo it’s way more fun to use the Ferarri than the Honda Civic when racing, but to get that Ferarri you need to pay for it with in-game credits. To get credits you either have to grind them out through races, or pay for them with actual money using microtransactions.

The problem with these microtransactions is that some of these cars are extremely expensive and it’s causing players to use exploits to get them in a reasonable amount of time. Players have been really unhappy with the way credits have been handled for a while now. They were especially not pleased after a previous patch lessened the rewards players got. It felt like they were being funneled towards paying actual money for fake currency to buy fake cars.

The devs of GT7 must have seen the backlash because they’re now going to make that grind for credits a little easier on the player. In the most recent patch update, the rewards for races in the latter half of the World Circuit were increased. This was one of many changes that were added to the game, but it was absolutely the biggest info to come out of the patch.

World Circuits
– The amount of rewards for events in the latter half of the World Circuit has been increased.
– New race events have been added to the World Circuit. The new events are as follows:
・World Touring Car 600 Tokyo Expressway East Clockwise
・World Touring Car 700 24 Heures du Mans Racing Circuit
・World Touring Car 800 Sardegna Road Track A
– Adjusted the rewards for Arcade races and Custom Races

While this still doesn’t entirely fix the issue that many players have with the game, mainly the cars being too expensive, it at least makes the grind for these cars a little more doable.

New York’s Attorney General Wants To Hold Donald Trump In Contempt And Fine Him $10,000 Per Day

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a motion on Thursday to hold former president Donald Trump in contempt of court and fine him $10,000 per day for failing to turn over documents in her office’s civil investigation. After being ordered by a stage judge to “comply in full” with James’ request, Trump’s legal team was granted a 30-day extension. However, as the March 31 deadline drew near, his legal team tried to delay the deadline even further by claiming that it still can’t get ahold of the documents because the Trump Organization has them. That’s when James had enough.

Via CNN:

James argued on Thursday that Trump’s attorneys’ response amounted to “more delay and obfuscation,” saying that his objections came too late. She said that Trump was “highly likely to have been in possession, custody or control of numerous documents” bearing on her investigation and that he failed to adequately detail the efforts he undertook to search for the subpoenaed documents.

James also took to Twitter to announce her plan to hold the former president in contempt.

“Despite a crystal clear order from the court, Donald Trump has refused to turn over documents as part of our investigation into him and the Trump Organization’s financial dealings,” James tweeted. “Donald Trump should be fined $10,000 per day for every day that he continues to violate the court’s order to provide these documents to my office. No one is above the law.”

For people who have been hoping to see Trump face some sort of legal consequences after leaving office, the contempt filing is a sign that at least the civil investigation into his questionable business practices is still kicking. Last month, prosecutors resigned from the criminal investigation into Trump after it became clear that the Manhattan district attorney’s office is no longer looking to prosecute Trump on felony charges. It was a deflating setback, but it appears that Attorney General James is not willing to throw in the towel that easily.

Josh Brolin Recalls The Thing He Did In His Audition For ‘The Fly 2’ That Made His Agent Wonder, ‘What The F*ck Did You Do In There?

On the latest episode of Hot Ones from First We Feast, Academy Award-nominated actor Josh Brolin wore a camo hat, asked what it will be like going to the bathroom after consuming extremely hot sauces, and, most importantly, went over details of his audition for The Fly 2 (1989) which made his agent at the time ask, “What the f*ck did you do in there?”

Hot Ones host Sean Evans asked Brolin if it’s true that he blew his audition for The Fly 2 by overcommitting to the whole metamorphosis part.

“Yes,” Brolin said. “I went in there, man, and I totally committed. And I did this for like, 22 years with pretty much every audition I ever did. But I was on the ground and I was frothing at the mouth because he’s in a chrysalis, he’s in a cocoon. What happens to one that’s human that’s not used to something like morphing from one thing to another? One would imagine that it would be a painful process, would one not? And then toy finish the audition, which is always the most uncomfortable part where they all look at you and there’s a pause and they go, ‘thanks for coming in, thank you, that was wonderful.’”

Brolin, who handles the hot sauces quite well, said that he left and when he got home, there was already a message from his agent. “I called the agent back and he said ‘what the f*ck did you do in there?’ literally, verbatim,” Brolin said. “And I said, ‘did I get it?’ and he’s like, ‘oh, no, they’ll probably never see you again.’”

You can see Brolin tell The Fly 2 audition story around the 5:40 minute mark above, but we recommend watching the whole thing.

BTW, the role of Martin Brundle in The Fly 2 went to Eric Schultz, who we would very much like to see play a big purple villain one day.
