A GOP Lawmaker Suggested Homeless People Should Seek Inspiration For Improving Their Lives By Looking At…Hitler

The Republican party has been moving in strange and disturbing directions for a while now, but most of them — though not all — know to stop at Hitler. One who doesn’t is Frank S. Niceley, an obscure Tennessee politician who on Thursday made waves for saying that the downtrodden should seek inspiration from the chief architect of the Third Reich.

The Tennessee Senate spent part of the day debating a bill that would deem camping on public property, including homeless encampments, a misdemeanor. Niceley, a Republican member of the state Senate, was for it. But he didn’t stop with criminalizing those who were without homes. He offered a certain historical figure as an idol that could inspire them to not only seek shelter but make the history books.

“I haven’t given you all a history lesson in awhile, and I wanted to give you a little history on homelessness,” Niceley told the state Senate floor. “[In] 1910, Hitler decided to live on the streets for a while. So for two years, Hitler lived on the streets and practiced his oratory, and his body language, and how to connect with citizens and then went on to lead a life that got him in the history books.”

It was a, shall we say, strange lesson to take from the life and career of the 20th century’s most infamous boogeyman. But that didn’t stop him from trying to find a silver lining in the life of the man who helped create the Holocaust.

“It’s not a dead end,” Niceley advised those without shelter. “They can come out of these homeless camps and have a productive life — or in Hitler’s case, a very unproductive life.”

Despite Niceley’s claim, Adolf Hitler did indeed lead a very productive life. If anything it was too productive, right up until his death by suicide in a bunker as the Allies closed in. Perhaps Niceley, despite professing his historian bona fides, shouldn’t quit his day job.

Did Niceley’s colleagues then realize they shouldn’t align themselves with a guy who holds up Hitler as a role model to the homeless? Of course not. The bill passed 22 to 10.

Lil Durk Calls On His Viral Lookalike To Help Him Conquer The ‘Blocklist’ In A New Video

Last year was a pretty strong one for Lil Durk. He earned his first No. 1 project thanks to Voice Of The Heroes, his joint album with Lil Baby. Elsewhere, he capitalized on work from his 2020 year which gave him a pair of top-2 albums with Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 and The Voice. In 2022, Durk is taking things even higher and it started with his seventh album 7220 which became his first solo No. 1 album. With rumors of a deluxe reissue of the album on the way, Durk keeps the spirit of 7220 alive with a new video.

The latest visual from 7220 to get the video treatment is “Blocklist.” While many have expected an appearance from Durk himself in the video, he instead recruits his lookalike, Perkio for the visual. In it, Perkio frustrates his girlfriend with his actions at a strip club. As a result, he ends up on the blocklist leaving Perkio to do everything in his power to get his partner to forgive him.

Perkio recently went viral after he and filmmaker King Cid tricked people at a Florida shopping mall into thinking he was the real Lil Durk. To Perkio and Cid’s credit, and in defense of the shoppers, the duo did everything in their power to make sure the prank worked. They rented a Lamborghini and hired fake paparazzi and a security team. Perkio even had fake versions of Lil Durk’s actual tattoos. All in all, it was a successful prank that absolutely worked in Perkio’s favor.

You can watch the video for “Blocklist” above.

7220 is out 3/11 via Alamo Records/Sony Music Entertainment. You can pre-save it here.

Alcides Escobar Went Down After Taking A Pick-Off Throw Directly To The Nuts

Some boys may wonder why their parents insist on them wearing a cup to play baseball. They probably think they’re good enough in the field to never miss a short hop and would never turn that way into a pitch, so it’s just a nuisance.

To those young men, I would like to direct you to Nationals shortstop Alcides Escobar as your cautionary tale for the evening. Escobar found himself on first base in the top of the fourth inning, when Pirates pitcher J.T. Brubaker decided to keep him honest with a throw over to the bag. Escobar, having not strayed far off the base simply took a long stride over, but an errant throw by Brubaker eluded the mitt of first basemen Yoshitomo Tsutsugo and hit Escobar square in the beans.

I mean that thing catches him clean and sends him down to the infield dirt in a heap. Adding insult to injury is the fact that had it not hit him, he would’ve been able to take off and swipe second base but instead he was down and rolling in pain. The best part might be the Nationals first base coach grabbing at his own crotch in sympathy pain for his shortstop.

Happily, he was able to shake it off fairly quickly and had a laugh with Tsutsugo about the mishap, but this is why parents insist on a cup, because you never know when disaster will strike.

Lizzo Rediscovers Her Glamour In The Video For Her Disco-Themed Bop, ‘About Damn Time’

Lizzo is gearing up to take over the summer. She gave a head’s up about her goals earlier this week as she teased the release of her latest song, “About Damn Time,” through a confident Instagram video. Lizzo called the record the “song of the summer,” and now that it’s here, there may be some validity to that. “About Damn Time” is an empowering anthem that finds Lizzo overcoming her past doubts and rediscovering her glamour through the uptempo record. The track also arrives with a video that watches her turn the halls of the quiet Stressed And Sexy Support Group building into a colorful and vibrant dancefloor.

Along with the new track, Lizzo announced the title and release date of her upcoming third album. Special will arrive on July 15 and it will also include the previously-released “Rumors” with Cardi B. “I think that the music really is going to speak for itself,” she said about the album in an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music according to a press release. “I’m writing songs about love from every direction, and I hope that I can turn a little bit of the fear that’s been running rampant in this world, energetically into love.”

She continued, “I had a lot of fear, and I had to do the work on myself, and this music is some of that work in turning that fear into love. I hope that when people listen to this album, it makes their day just a little bit better, a little bit more filled with love.”

You can watch the video for “About Damn Time” above.

Special is out 7/15 via Nice Life and Atlantic. You can pre-save it here.

Sean Hannity Gave Trump Another Chance To Denounce Putin, And Of Course The Big Guy Couldn’t Do It

Last month, when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was but a couple weeks old — and not nearing its second month — Sean Hannity did something he loves to do with Donald Trump: He gave him an easy question. It was a different kind of gesture, though: Instead of trying to make him look stronger than he is, Hannity gave him the chance to look decent. He repeatedly tried to get Trump to condemn Vladimir Putin. And Trump kept refusing.

A month later, he gave him a Mulligan. And he still couldn’t do it. During a call-in on Wednesday night — during which the former president ranted again about one of his weirder pet obsessions: the idea that windmills are bad and kill bald eagles — Hannity circled back to the idea that the Russian invasion is “evil.”

Could Trump slam his buddy a month — and untold atrocities — later? He could not. Instead he ranted about NATO, reserving his ire for the international alliance that has stood up to Russia, not for Russia itself. (He seems to hate windmills more than he hates Russia.) Turns out he’s still steaming about his theory that some nations weren’t paying as much into the group as the United States were.

New York magazine’s Jonathan Chait had a theory about that, claiming it torpedoes one of Trumpist’s battier theories: that Trump was, as Chait put it, “cleverly trying to strengthen the alliance all along by prodding fellow members to increase their defense spending.” Trump’s rant helped “dispel” that notion, as Chait explained:

What truly gave the game away was when Trump segued to his economic grievances with western Europe. “And then they take advantage of us on trade,” he ranted to Hannity, revising his long-standing claim that western Europe is the true enemy of the American people (“Every bit as bad as China”). It is beyond obvious that Trump’s insults to NATO allies were not intended to strengthen their commitment but a bad-faith demand put forward as a pretext for the United States to abandon the alliance altogether. (Several of Trump’s former national security advisers have said Trump would have done so in a second term, and the loss of this expected outcome is the best explanation of why Putin decided to invade Ukraine now.)

Chait goes on to postulate that, had Trump been re-elected (or re-instated, as Mike Lindell has long wished), NATO would be no more, Putin would go unpunished, and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he tried to extort and only succeeded in getting himself impeached, “would probably at this moment be in exile, in a Russian prison, or dead.”

In any case, maybe Hannity can try again with Trump in May. Perhaps third time’s the charm?

Earthgang And Musiq Soulchild Take Us To Church In The Spiritual ‘Amen’ Video

Earlier this year, Atlanta duo Earthgang released their much-anticipated fourth album Ghetto Gods. Representing the new sound of rap from the ATL, the Dreamville signees have a loaded list of guest features on board for Ghetto Gods in Ari Lennox, Musiq Soulchild, CeeLo Green, JID, J. Cole, Future, Nick Cannon, Baby Tate, and Lynae Vanee. When the album dropped, a statement from Earthgang’s Olu and WowGr8 said that the album was intended as, “…a sonic reminder of the godhood present in all of us and a study in how our environments create our reality, which, through dedication, faith and belief can be transmuted into whatever we desire.” On no track on the album is that message felt perhaps quite as much as on “Amen” featuring Philly R&B crooner Musiq Soulchild.

“Baby, say a prayer for me, yeah, put one in the air for me. Show me that you care, you’ll always be there, promise that you’ll never leave,” Musiq sings. And on the new video for the track, a full-on gospel choir and church-style backing band help the trio drive home the spirituality of love wrapped in the duality of faith. It’s the latest in a series of videos from songs off of the album that Earthgang has dropped since the album’s release. They include last week’s heist-themed drop for “Billi” and the heartfelt visual for “Strong Friends” the week before that.

Watch Earthgang’s video for “Amen” featuring Musiq Soulchild above.

Ghetto Gods is out now via Dreamville and Interscope. You can stream it here.

Alec Baldwin Opened Up About Why He And Hilaria Have So, So Many Kids

Things aren’t so great for Alec Baldwin right now, being as he is at the center of a tragic on-set shooting. The investigation into that is still ongoing, though he’s maintained that he didn’t pull the trigger that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. In the meantime, he always has his family — a very, very large family, including six kids with current wife Hilaria alone. Why do they keep having children? In a recent Instagram post, he explained why.

The actor (and, remember, Boss Baby vocal star) posted a video of María Lucía, his sixth child with Hilaria who was born last March. The video shows her when she was still a toddler, giggling and cooing. “People ask why,” Baldwin wrote in the caption. “This is why. Being a parent is the ultimate journey.”

María Lucía was born a mere five months after their previous child, Eduardo, was born, which itself followed too tragic miscarriages. How on earth did they manage to swing that? Easy: María Lucía was born to a surrogate. What’s more, Hilaria announced last month that she’s pregnant with yet another child, which will be her seventh. (Alec had only one child with Kim Basinger, to whom he was married from 1993 to 2002. Hilaria and he have been together since they began dating in 2011.)

You can also hear what sounds like Hilaria speaking Spanish in the background. Born in Boston as “Hillary,” her longtime insistence that she’s Spanish has been the subject of much online speculation and ribbing.

The Russian Cruiser Ukrainian Soldiers Told To ‘Go F*ck Yourself’ Has Fulfilled Its Destiny By Sinking Into The Black Sea

Russian’s invasion of Ukraine has not been going as well as Vladimir Putin may have liked. He reportedly fired a ton of secret agents recently, hoping to blame them for his failures. Now this: A Russian ship, whose inhabitants were memorably told where to go by Ukrainian sailors in the early days of the conflict, has fulfilled its natural destiny by sinking into the sea.

As per Mediaite, the Moskov, a cruiser first launched in 1979, has plummeted into the depths of the Black Sea off the coast of Sevastopol, Crimea’s largest city. The ship had suffered a mysterious explosion, and while it was being dragged back to port for repairs, it simply sank. Russian authorities claim the cause was ammunition on-board catching fire. The Ukrainian government say it was felled by their own artillery.

The Moskov became an international laughing stock after in the early days of the invasion when a small group of Ukrainian soldiers, defending the Ukrainian-controlled Snake Island, told their enemy combatants, “Russian warship, go f*ck yourself!” The phrase quickly became a Ukrainian rallying cry. It’s also been turned into T-shirts, which have been sold to support various humanitarian causes connected to the invasion. It was even commemorated on a stamp.

The sinking of the Moskva — the flagship of Russia’s Black Sea fleet — suggests that it will be difficult going forward for the Russian navy to not only launch amphibious attacks against Ukraine, but also to defend other ships.

The news was cheered by many on social media, some of whom joked that it had been “promoted to submarine.” Surely Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump have been left verklempt.

‘Euphoria’ Star Chloe Cherry Used To Have ‘A Bunch’ Of Sugar Daddies

Chloe Cherry, who had a breakout role as Faye on season 2 of Euphoria, has been open about her past as a porn star, she even starred in a porn parody of the show before being cast in it, and now she is sharing some more details about her iconic lifestyle.

While on former Bachelor contestant Nick Viall’s podcast Viall Files, Cherry admitted she used to have a handful of sugar daddies to pay for her lifestyle before getting her big HBO break. Good for her!

“I used to have a bunch of them,” the actress said. “Having a sugar daddy is kind of like dating except you’re dating for different reasons because they are providing something for you, so you’re dating based off of what they’re providing for you.” She confirmed that she doesn’t have sugar daddies anymore, though she does stay in touch with some as friends.

Cherry also explained that she is single, though dating around. “I will never again accept a guy that doesn’t want to at least try to take care of me in some way or be chivalrous in some way,” she added. “Why would I accept that when I know it is out there? I know there are people out there that want to treat me really well.”

The pornstar-turned-actress also expressed how hard it was to get into the industry, and how she was often discouraged. “It is so hard to make it in adult film. All the people I worked with and started with, they worked so hard to make a name for themselves.” She also said that her parents didn’t understand her job until she began making money. “You think society is mean to sex workers, sometimes their own family is worse.”

Finally, Cherry told the story of how she got her big break being cast on Euphoria: through an Instagram DM. “First [Sam Levninson] followed me, then he had a casting director DM me. I was like, ‘this is unreal.’ You know how there are so many phishing scams! At first, I turned out down. I was like, ‘I don’t believe this,’” she explained. Eventually, they convinced her to audition, and the rest, including her sugar daddies, was history.

Bartenders Reveal The Best Beers To Mix Cocktails With

One of the most exciting aspects of the mixology world is the creativity and innovation from bartenders all over the country (and the world). And we’re most definitely in a booming era for cocktails. It’s obvious that, when crafting a drink, most often bartenders reach for whisk(e)y, rum, tequila, vodka, gin, and other spirits as the base. But while it’s more common to mix with spirits, some bartenders shake things up by using beer.

Whether it’s a simple shandy, michelada, beer-based bloody Mary, or something more elaborate, picking the right beer for mixing is extremely important. There are countless different beer styles and not all are easy to mix with. To find the best, we asked a handful of bartenders for help. They were kind enough to offer up their picks for the best beers to mix with.

Keep scrolling to see all of their choices. Maybe it will spur some creativity in you and you’ll grab a sixer of one of these beers and mix up a cocktail yourself.

Guinness Stout

Guinness Stout
Guinness

Andrew Guerin, bartender at Bourbon O Bar in New Orleans

ABV: 4.2%
Average Price: $7.99 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

Why This Beer?

When it comes to mixing with beer, give me Guinness all day long. The complex malted flavors, the coffee, and subtle dark chocolate notes, the roasted profile all make it so easy to interchange. It’s a great accompaniment to dessert cocktails ingredients.

Miller High Life

Miller High Life
Miller

Daniel Yang, lead bartender at Electra Cocktail Club in Las Vegas

ABV: 4.6%
Average Price: $5.99 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

If it’s not a Michelada, then my go-to is always Miller High life. Dating all the way back to 1903, this American lager, popularly known as “the champagne of beers,” is a beautiful combination of light and crisp with a subtle note of toffee. My favorite way to spruce up this effervescent delight is to add a touch of Aperol and lemon juice for the ever-charming Spaghett.

Elysian Space Dust IPA

Elysian Space Dust IPA
Elysian

Lewis Caputa, lead bartender at Rosina Cocktail Lounge in Las Vegas

ABV: 8.2%
Average Price: $12.99 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

My Favorite beer to mix with is Space Dust IPA made by Elysian Brewing Company. I love to use this in a New York sour. Instead of using red wine as the floater, I like using this fine IPA. It adds a hint of bitterness to this cocktail that I truly enjoy.

Green Flash Le Freak

Green Flash Le Freak
Green Flash

Evan Hosaka, lead bartender at The Dorsey Cocktail Bar in Las Vegas

ABV: 9.2%
Average Price: $9.99 for a 22-ounce bottle

Why This Beer?

I love bitter cocktails. Especially fruity and bitter. My favorite beer to mix into cocktails is Le Freak by Green Flash Brewing Co. It is a Belgian Trippel & American Imperial IPA hybrid with a bracing 101 IBU rating which they do an excellent job balancing with the bready malts and fruity and citrus flavors. I typically like to use it as a float or a substitute for carbonation in smaller quantities to not overpower the rest of the cocktail with its big flavor.

Corona Extra

Corona Extra
Corona

Lily Van Duyn, food and beverage manager at The Vinoy Renaissance in St. Petersburg, Florida

ABV: 4.6%
Average Price: $8.50 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

There’s nothing better than a loaded Corona by adding a shot of tequila to the bottle and topping with a lime. One sip will instantly make you feel like you’re relaxing on the beach in the summer. The crisp, refreshing, slightly sweet flavor of the Corona is only heightened by the addition of vegetal, vanilla, and caramel flavors of the tequila.

Black Hammer Hella Sexy

Black Hammer Hella Sexy
Black Hammer

Mariza Sabino, general manager at Dirty Habit in San Francisco

ABV: 5%
Average Price: Limited Availability

Why This Beer?

Right now, the favorite is Black Hammer Brewing’s Hella Sexy Munich Helles. It’s a fun, underrated style that makes a great citrus shandy. Cara Cara oranges are in season right now, and they’re great with the Helles. Black Hammer’s Helles is crisp, light, and a great complement to citrus. It’s a perfect breakfast shandy.

Modelo Especial

Modelo Especial
Modelo

Stephen O’halloran, bar manager at Camino Riviera in San Diego

ABV: 4.4%
Average Price: $5.99 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

Why This Beer?

My favorite beer to mix with is the Modelo Especial because when you have an excellent recipe for a Michelada, there is nothing better on a hot day. Modelo on its own is light, crisp, and thirst-quenching. When you mix in the spicy flavors of the Michelada, it’s cranked up to a different flavor level. Bonus points – it can also help with a hangover. So many great flavors here that range from spicy and sweet to salty and citrus. Taste the rainbow.

Stiegl Radler Grapefruit

Stiegl Radler Grapefruit
Stiegl

Claire Sexton, bar manager at Kettner Exchange in San Diego

ABV: 2.5%
Average Price: $12.99 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

Stiegl Radler is hands down the best beer to mix with cocktails. Low ABV, light bubbles, and an excellent grapefruit crunch to it. Stiegl Brewery is also one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. Located in Salzburg, Austria, they have a great water source. They have been brewing gold before the United States was even a country.

Founders All Day IPA

Founders All Day IPA
Founders

Subhash Sankar, head mixologist at Alaia Belize in San Pedro Town, Belize

ABV: 4.7%
Average Price: $8.50 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

Why This Beer?

Founders All Day IPA is light by design and packs less of a boozy punch without sacrificing the aromatics or bitterness that are a trademark of the style. Its piney, dank flavor profile has a bold flavor of lime zest with a long, bitter finish. This makes it a great base for simple, refreshing cocktails. It sets the stage but doesn’t take away from the main event.

Goose Island Sofie

Goose Island Sofie
Goose Island

Charles Bement, sommelier and beverage director of B. Hospitality in Chicago

ABV: 6.5%
Average Price: $12.99 for a four-pack

Why This Beer?

I don’t often make beer cocktails. If the question of a “beermosa” ever came up, though, I’d probably say Goose Island’s Sofie. Its light lemony quality closely emulates sparkling wine. If that counts as mixing with beer, it’s definitely my go-to.

Peroni

Peroni
Peroni

Aaron Ramirez, lead bartender at Mr. C Beverly Hills in Los Angeles

ABV: 5.1%
Average Price: $8.99 for a six-pack

Why This Beer?

The best beer to mix with is Peroni. This light Italian Lager is crisp to the taste and is usually my choice to make something like a Michelada. This leaves the cocktail evenly balanced and perfectly refreshing, especially enjoyed poolside.
