Disney+ Uploaded An ‘Alternate’ Violence-Free Cut Of ‘Falcon And The Winter Soldier’ And Fans Weren’t Happy About It

Earlier this week, fans of the popular Marvel show Falcon And The Winter Soldier noticed that some of their favorite bloody scenes had been discretely censored, and naturally, they took to Twitter to air out their confusion.

Fans added to the thread with photos of guns, blood, and various violence being cut out of the episodes of the popular series, which premiered last year, starring Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie. As it turns out, Disney+ had uploaded the alternate cut “by mistake.” According to EW, they are working on rectifying the mix-up and restoring it to its original, bloody mess.

This comes shortly after the streaming service announced its updated parental controls due to Netflix’s Marvel content being migrated over to Disney+. The site prompted each user to set their own parental controls beginning on March 16th. “This includes the option to select content ratings restrictions for each profile as well as to add a PIN to lock profiles,” Disney+ said in a statement. “Those that choose to keep their settings the same will continue to enjoy Disney Plus as they always have within a TV-14 content rating environment, with the option to make changes at any time under Profile settings.”

While the new alternative cut of Winter Soldier theoretically shouldn’t have affected anyone who didn’t opt for stricter controls, it seems the glitch made everyone’s accounts gore-free. Just in time for Moon Knight!

Kevin Smith Now Feels Like An ‘Asshole’ For Complaining About Bruce Willis After Making ‘Cop Out’

Earlier today, word broke that Bruce Willis had been diagnosed with aphasia, a cognitive disorder that leads to the inability to comprehend or formulate language. (It’s the same disease that afflicted Monty Python’s Terry Jones in his later years.) As such, he’s retiring from acting, at only 67. Social media was soon filled with appreciations for the beloved actor. Even some people with whom Willis has had beef stood up to issue apologies.

As per Variety, Kevin Smith — who directed Willis in the 2010 buddy comedy Cop Out, along with Tracy Morgan (who’s had his own health issues) — issued a mea culpa to his former colleague. The two famously clashed during the film’s shoot, with Smith trash-talking him while doing press. Now, 12 years later, he’s finally expressing regret.

“Long before any of the Cop Out stuff, I was a big Bruce Willis fan – so this is really heartbreaking to read,” Smith posted about the news. “He loved to act and sing and the loss of that has to be devastating for him. I feel like an asshole for my petty complaints from 2010. So sorry to BW and his family.”

Back in 2010, Smith unloaded to the press about his experiences making the studio comedy. “It was difficult,” he said, claiming Willis “wouldn’t even sit for a f*cking poster shoot” and that “were it not for Tracy, I might have killed either myself or someone else in the making of f*cking ‘Cop Out.’”

News of Willis’ diagnosis and retirement were first shared by Demi Moore, his ex-wife, with whom he has three daughters. “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support,” Moore wrote in an Instagram post. “We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.”

Madison Cawthorn Has Apparently Admitted That His Stories About Cocaine-Fueled DC Orgies Are Total Bullsh*t

In a twist that will surprise absolutely no one, it seems Representative Madison Cawthorn’s bizarre tale about cocaine-fueled orgies happening all over Capitol Hill is a lie he made up for attention.

We know. We’re shocked too.

The North Carolina Republican and rookie Congressman made some wild claims while guesting on a podcast earlier this week. After comparing his time on the Hill to the Netflix drama House of Cards, he told host John Lovell that he’d been invited to “orgies” by fellow lawmakers and he had witnessed people doing “key bumps” of cocaine ” right in front of him. Now, we’re assuming he was referring to his Republican colleagues because Cawthorn is the kind of loud-mouthed MAGA supporter most Democrats in Washington D.C. actively avoid, but, in any case, his lurid tales of White House adjacents engaging in sex parties and blow have made everybody on Capitol Hill look bad. That’s why House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy gave him a stern talking to this week.

McCarthy called Cawthorn to his office for a “tense” meeting that ended with the young Republican admitting he greatly exaggerated some of the more scandalous details he revealed on the podcast.

“In the interview, he claims he watched people do cocaine. Then when he comes in he tells me, he says he thinks he saw maybe a staffer in a parking garage from 100 yards away,” McCarthy told Axios reporters. “It’s just frustrating. There’s no evidence behind his statements. I just told him he’s lost my trust, he’s gonna have to earn it back, and I laid out everything I find is unbecoming. And, you can’t just say ‘You can’t do this again.’ I mean, he’s, he’s got a lot of members very upset.”

McCarthy says he hasn’t ruled out harsher disciplinary action against Cawthorn for spreading lies about his party but he’s waiting to see how the rookie representative will handle the situation before delivering an official punishment.

Wom/n Worldwide Closes Out Women’s History Month With Some Historic Pop Culture Wins

Women’s History Month may be winding down but that’s all the more reason to recognize some major milestones in the world of sports, pop culture, and more. (Made by women, obviously).

On the latest episode of Wom/n Worldwide, host Drew Dorsey is doing just that — celebrating the accomplishments and victories of some of the trailblazing ladies shattering the glass ceiling in their respective fields. Speaking of, Drew wants you to know that the World Cup-winning U.S. Women’s Soccer Team just scored a historic deal in their fight for equal pay. After two years of battling on and off the field, the athletes are finally going to earn the same as their male counterparts, and that can only mean good news for other associations like the Nation Women’s Soccer League and the WNBA who are also making headway in the push for equality.

We’re also psyched about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court. If her nomination is confirmed, she’ll become the first Black woman to hold a seat on the highest court in the country. Dolly Parton also makes our list of incredible women doing incredible things this month — though, to be fair, she’s on that list every month. The singer not only funded Covid-19 vaccine research but she’s also donated millions of books to children in need and she recently announced she’d be paying for her Dollywood employees to go to college. (Excuse us while we look for any job openings.)

For all that and more, check out the latest episode of Wom/n Worldwide above.

Anyone who’s had a dog with a favorite stuffy knows that it’s a bit like a child with a favorite stuffy. As long as the stuffy is there, all is well. If stuffy goes missing, all hell breaks loose. Nobody take the stuffy away. Nobody lose the stuffy. Nobody mess with the stuffy.

Where they go, their stuffy goes.

Where Charlie goes, Mr. Quackers goes.

Charlie practically wagged his tail right off his body. And he never let go of the original Mr. Quackers the whole time—at least on TikTok.

The extended video on YouTube shows Charlie dropping Mr. Quackers and trying to get a hold of Huge Mr. Quackers by the neck. Not in an aggressive way—more like in a “Hey, lemme carry you around like I do Mr. Quackers!” kind of way.

And then the slow discovery that Huge Mr. Quackers smells an awful lot like his hooman … just too precious.

Animals can bring such joy to our lives, especially when we take the time to play with them. Thanks, Charlie’s parents, for sharing this moment of adorable delight with us all.

Lady Gaga’s moment with Liza Minnelli was a beautiful example of caring with dignity

Welp, despite dwindling ratings over the past several years, the 2022 Academy Awards turned out to be a highly talked-about event. Unfortunately, the public’s attention has been sucked into feverish furor over the Chris Rock-Will Smith fiasco, which has overshadowed some truly lovely moments.

One of those moments came near the end of the show, during the announcement of the winner of the coveted “Best Picture” award. Legendary actress Liza Minnelli joined Lady Gaga to announce the nominees and the winning film. Minnelli, 76, sat in a wheelchair while Gaga stood beside her and introduced her, with Minnelli relishing the welcoming cheers from the crowd.

As she was introducing the category and nominees, Minnelli appeared to get a little lost, and Gaga helped her out. At one point, the mic picked up Gaga leaning over and quietly telling Minnelli, “I got you,” with Minnelli responding, “I know.”

Lady Gaga’s genuine love for the elders in the showbiz community shows in the care she shows them. Far from being patronizing or infantilizing, Gaga beautifully balances being helpful with respecting and honoring their dignity.

Watch:

People loved the exchange and the way the love and admiration flowed between the two women.

It also prompted someone to share a video of when the pair first met one another in 2010. They were both fans of each other and seeing their first interaction is just delightful.

Lady Gaga’s easy rapport with show business legends, from her famously adoring relationship with Tony Bennett to her Oscars presentation with Liza Minnelli, has become a bit of a legacy for her.

And it’s not just Hollywood greats that she’s managed to connect with. Check out this meeting between her and British soap opera star June Brown in 2013 when Brown was in her late 80s. (She is still alive at 95, by the way.) Their instant connection was delightful and hilarious.

Lady Gaga’s moment with Liza Minnelli was only a small part of her Oscars evening. Gaga helped co-host the 30th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in Elton John’s absence while he’s on tour. The event raised a whopping $8.6 million to help end the AIDS epidemic.

“I’m so grateful to my friends Lady Gaga, Billy Porter and Eric McCormack for joining David in hosting such an incredible evening, and of course Brandi Carlile for bringing down the house with an electrifying performance,” Sir Elton John said in a statement. “Most of all, I’m thankful to all who attended and participated to ensure that we can continue our lifesaving work to end AIDS. I could feel the love and support all the way from Lincoln, Nebraska!”

Gaga also showed that she’s as comfortable around the youngsters as she is around the elders, as she posed for photos with Elton John and David Furnish’s sons, Zachary and Elijah. She is the boys’ godmother (or “Gagamother,” as they call her).

Every time we turn around, we’re reminded that it’s Gaga’s world, and we’re just living in it.

The BLSSM Is A Rebel Without A Cause In Her Hooky, ’90s-Leaning New Single, ‘Not Today’

Last spring we fell in love with The Blossom aka The BLSSM’s debut EP, 97 Blossom, and Lily Lizotte has only been on a steady rise since then. Releasing follow-up singles to that EP like “Spike Collar,” “Sports Car,” and “Dizzy,” they’re back again today with another new track.

“Not Today” also introduces the announcement of The BLSSM’s next EP Pure Energy, which will be out April 29 via Fueled By Ramen. Speaking on the track, Lizotte shared some of the backstory about what it means to her, along with details of who worked on the song.

“‘Not Today’ echoes both my day-to-day triumphs and anguish,” the artist said in a press release. “It was written about the small nuances of joy I thieve, collect, and steal to keep in my pocket to get me through an ever rat-race agenda of wanting more, wanting everything and wishing. Sonically, it captures my influences retold and revived into my own sonic palette. With production from my Dad Mark Lizotte, Suzy Shinn, and written alongside Nick Long – these people being all close to my heart – the song was written with intimacy and celebration and feels like a pure extension of my personality. If I had my own TV show, this would be the theme song.”

Check it out up top.

Robert Rodriguez Has A ‘Spy Kids’ Reboot In The Works At Netflix

It’s time to dust off those Spy Glasses that came in your McDonald’s happy meal in 2002. On the anniversary of the first Spy Kids movie, Netflix has announced that director Robert Rodriguez has another Spy Kids title in the works, in partnership with production company Skydance and Spyglass Entertainment. Rumors of a revival have circulated for several years.

The first three movies in the franchise came out between 2001-2003, featuring the Cortez family and their various top-secret adventures. Rodriguez will write, direct, and produce a “reimagining of the beloved franchise and introduce the world to a new family of spies.” So, probably not the Cortez family, but maybe they will make a cameo? Or maybe Elijah Wood will be interested in returning as The Guy.

No cast has been announced at the moment. The original trilogy starred Antonio Banderas, Carla Gugino, Daryl Sabara and Alexa PenaVega. A fourth film was released in 2011, starring Jessica Alba and Joel McHale, with Sabara and PenaVega reprising their original roles.

In 2020, Rodriguez wrote and directed We Can Be Heroes, a family film based on 2005’s Sharkboy and Lava Girl, also from Rodriguez. The film became a success, which is what prompted the latest revival of Spy Kids. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce for Skydance, while Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre will executive produce the film.

‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ Is Shaping Up To Be A24’s Biggest Hit Since ‘Uncut Gems’

So much (too much!) has been made about the divide between critic and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes, especially when one is much higher than the other. Godspeed to anyone who clicks on the “All Audience” tab on The Last Jedi. So it’s nice to find a movie that everyone agrees rules:

everything
rotten tomatoes

Everything Everywhere All at Once, A24’s multiverse brain-bender starring Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis and written and directed by the Daniels, is a hit among critics and at the box office. Deadline reports that it “grossed over half a million dollars on 10 screens in New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco [over the weekend] for a hefty $50,965 per-screen-average — a number rarely seen since the pre-COVID old days of theatrical releases and the biggest of the year so far.” In fact, it’s the best per-theater-average of any film since Spider-Man: No Way Home.

This is A24’s best launch since Uncut Gems (2019) and one of its best ever. It’s the biggest limited opening 2022, and the third highest per screen average since 2019. The sci-fi drama scores 97 percent with critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Exit polls were in the 90’s across the board and social chatter active.

The reception so far on Twitter has been impressive, to say the least:

Everything Everywhere All at Once is playing in select IMAX theaters tonight, March 30 (check for tickets here), before a wide release on April 8.

A Few Weeks Before The Slap, Chris Rock Revealed That He’s Been Afraid Of Confrontation Since Childhood

As Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on stage on the Oscars continues to dominate headlines, Rock has been receiving praise for keeping his composure during the whole thing even as claims of him reconciling with Smith have reportedly been exaggerated. As it turns out, Rock recently revealed that he’s spent most of his life avoiding confrontation after his own anger got the better of him during a childhood fight.

While sitting down for a January episode of the Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade podcast, Rock shared an anecdote about how he violently reacted after years of bullying and basically spent the rest of his life avoiding any and all confrontation. According to Rock, the whole thing happened at a party where another boy pushed him down and kicked sand in his face in front of the girls, which was the final straw for Rock after years of being picked on at school. Via PEOPLE:

“I went home, I put a brick in a book bag — this is like a legendary story in my neighborhood — I swung that sh– and smacked the guy in the face with this brick and stomped on him, Joe Pesci-style, to the point that we thought he might die,” Rock told hosts David Spade and Dana Carvey.

Later on, with the help of therapy, Rock realized the long-term impact the event had on his life.

“Long story short, from that day on, as my shrink puts it to me, you have been scared to be angry ever since,” he said. “The guy you saw was bending over backwards to be nice because I was so scared of my anger.”

While Rock also revealed that intense therapy sessions have helped him to not keep his feels repressed and let people walk all over him, not letting his anger out came in handy after being publicly assaulted by Smith. In fact, Rock’s professionalism has earned him accolades from Whoopi Goldberg. who doesn’t think the comedian gets enough credit for being the “adult” in the situation.

“Why do you think he would have indulged in a brawl (on a stage) in front of 3 billion people?” Whoopi asked during Wednesday’s episode of The View. “Why wouldn’t he be the adult?”
