J Balvin And Ed Sheeran Party Hard And Jam Out In Their Videos For ‘Sigue’ And ‘Forever My Love’

J Balvin and Ed Sheeran are both not too far removed from their latest bodies of work. Last fall, J Balvin released his fifth album Jose with help from Skrillex, Yandel, Ozuna, Khalid, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, and more. Three months later, he dropped a deluxe reissue that added eight more songs to the project. As for Ed Sheeran, he released his fifth album = just a month after Balvin originally released Jose. Unlike Jose, Sheeran’s = was a completely solo body of work that also marked his first album in two months. Following an unexpected meeting at the gym, Sheeran and Balvin reconnected to make two songs which we’ve received today.

The two singers arrive with their new tracks, “Sigue” and “Forever My Love.” As if the songs themselves weren’t enough, the duo also released matching videos for the tracks. “Sigue” captures Sheeran and Balvin partying hard together with a festive visual while “Forever My Love” calms things down with a black-and-white video that sees them jam out in the studio.

Balvin and Sheeran’s collaborations come after the former flaunted his softer side in a video for “Nino Sonador” while Sheeran recently joined Camila Cabello for their heartfelt track, “Bam Bam.”

DDG Journeys To Outer Scape With Gunna In Their Galactic Video For ‘Elon Musk’

DDG kicked off 2021 by releasing his third project Die 4 Respect, an 11-track effort that arrived with contributions from Lil Yatchy, Coi Leray, Pnb Rock, 42 Dugg, and more. For the remainder of the year, DDG worked on promoting the project and helping it reach new corners, and as a result, it helped him land a spot in the 2021 XXL Freshman Class. There, he found himself besides names like Blxst, Pooh Shiesty, Morray, and more. Fast forward to 2022, and DDG is back to work with new music and an example of that comes with his new video for “Elon Musk” with Gunna.

In the new visual, DDG decides to take his talents to outer space. He plays the role of an astronaut who hops in a rocket ship and journeys to space complete with a blunt in hand and a woman beside him. Elsewhere in the video, Gunna stands beside him strapped a weapon of his own to deliver his verse on the song.

The new visual comes a month after DDG and Gunna dropped their “Elon Musk” collaboration. Prior to that, DDG concluded his 2021 year with the celebratory “Rucci” while Gunna kicked off his 2022 year with his stellar No. 1 album DS4EVER.

You can watch the video for the new track above.

This company makes it easier than ever to go carbon neutral

Climate change is the biggest challenge humanity will face in the 21st century. If we want to change course and help our planet heal, every single one of us has to take action right now. And we’re not simply talking about using reusable grocery bags or opting out of daily housekeeping when you stay at a hotel. We’ve all got to do a lot more, and we’ve got to do it every single day.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Not sure where to start? Well, here’s the good news. A group of young entrepreneurs has figured out an innovative way to make it easier for regular people to take action on climate change. And after securing funding from some of the most influential investors in the country, Wren was born.

What is Wren? It’s a cool new startup that helps consumers offset their carbon footprint by funding important ecological projects and climate change research.

What Does It Mean To Offset Your Carbon Footprint?

Image via Unsplash

Your carbon footprint is a measurement of the carbon emissions generated because of the things you do and the choices you make. A big carbon footprint means your lifestyle burns a lot of fossil fuels. A small carbon footprint means the opposite. When it comes to reversing climate change, reducing the size of our carbon footprints is critical. After that, the next step is to offset whatever carbon footprint we still make by removing an equal amount of carbon emissions from the atmosphere. If we do this, it means we’re “carbon neutral.”

That’s where Wren comes in.

Wren Can Make You Carbon Neutral

When you sign up with Wren, the first thing you’ll do is take a quiz that calculates your carbon footprint and helps you understand the scope of your environmental impact. For example, it will tell you how many tons of carbon dioxide you produce per year, how your footprint compares to the average household, and what the planet would be like if everyone lived like you. After that, Wren shows you how much it would cost each month to offset your carbon emissions.

How will forking over your hard-earned money help you go carbon neutral? That money will fund life-changing climate projects across the globe. These projects include tree planting, reforestation, and rainforest protection. But the money will also fund advanced projects like carbon sequestration, mineral weathering, biochar cooling, and clean fuel research.

When you pay to offset your carbon footprint with Wren, you get detailed accounts of the specific projects your monthly contributions are funding. Wren only partners with world-class institutions and organizations. But if a project does not offset as much carbon as planned, Wren will fund another project to make up the difference, so the impact of your contribution is always 100 percent guaranteed.

Best of all, when you partner with Wren, you’re investing in real science. All carbon calculations are based on peer-reviewed data, so there is a direct causal relationship between what you pay and the carbon removed from the atmosphere.

Wren Makes It Easy To Do Your Part

Right now, the climate situation is pretty dire. The year 2020 was, among other things, the hottest one ever recorded. We’re losing 151 billion tons of polar ice per year. And sea levels are rising 3.4 millimeters per year. Scientists now say we only have ten years left before these changes become permanent.

One person acting alone will do nothing. But if we all step up, if we all make sacrifices together, we can solve the climate change problem. That’s why we need forward-thinking solutions like Wren. This company launched last year, but members have already raised $1.7 million to offset 114,066 tons of carbon dioxide.

Editor’s Note: Recently it was reported that the DSM-5 would include a new diagnosis “prolonged grief disorder,” likely opening up new pathways for treatment, including therapy and medication. The inclusion, which as been debated for decades, is considered highly controversial by critics who say it stigmatizes and further isolates those living with grief. The following op-ed is a response to the decision. Upworthy has not taken an official stance on the decision but are sharing this article as a means of furthering the discussion about mental health, grief and how we as a culture and community address such challenges.

Dear Beauty,

I wonder if they understand that the root of the word ‘care’ is from an Old High German term chara, meaning grief or lament. If only our healthcare system would let us hold our sorrow and help us understand that it moves and changes as we try to move through life after losing someone we love, too soon, too young.

When you were diagnosed with a rare and fatal neurodegenerative disorder that we knew would destroy your mind and body, every assumption about what is right and natural and good in the world was shattered.

Despite having done extensive preconception genetic testing, a fatal mistake was made by a physician. The wrong test was ordered, and your dad‘s carrier status was misreported. Your life, the one that was supposed to be long and full and ever-changing, would last 12 to 18 more months if we were lucky. We’d never watch you grow-up. We’d never hear you talk. We’d never hold your hand to take a walk.

Today, 14 months after your death, the missing, the aching, the craving and the longing still exist just as much as it did on December 17, 2019, the day we learned you would die.

Now, the American Psychiatric Association has added prolonged grief disorder to the most recent version of Diagnostic Statistical Manual. Now, I live with the marker of a disorder. Am I grieving too long? Too deeply? Is it my fault that the world as I once knew it will never be the same again? Is it crazy that I don’t want it to be?

Am I disordered? Am I crazy when I walk our neighborhood streets with your sister and reach my hand down to squeeze the place where yours used to rest in the stroller? I write to you everyday in my journal and tell you all about the goings-on — does that mean I think I can talk to the dead? Would it even matter?

I think I’ll keep writing, if you are okay with that. It makes me feel close to you, even though I just wish you were here.

Love,

Mom

When parents of living children do whatever it takes every day to keep their children in the front row of their lives does that mean they too are disordered? Should they be prescribed naltrexone so that they can “end their addiction” to their child?

We live in a world that is afraid of loss, afraid of death, and afraid of the feelings that they stir up. For grieving people this means it is not safe to share pain, it is not safe to be honest, it is not safe to be real. We are told we need to move on, readjust, find the silver lining and appreciate the life and people we have.

The thing is, living inside tragic loss allows grieving people to feel things on a different plane. Embodied grief is a portal to finding beauty in the mundane. And the thing is, when grieving people are allowed to feel for however long and in whatever way they need, grieving people can become a superhuman. We can hold the deepest, darkest pain and offer the fiercest compassion. All in the same tear, all in the same smile.

But, if you tell us we are disordered, and you wave drugs in front of us before we know whether they are helpful or even necessary for us, we will hide and withdraw from the feelings that can bring so much richness to our lives, and to the people who are still here on this earth, and the ones who aren’t. If you take a look at the long arc of history, it’s those who have suffered and have found their voice, who have made the world a better place.

So if not a diagnosis and medication what can we do for people who have lost a loved one?

We can help them remember their loved one, actively. We can say their name, celebrate their important dates, and keep them present in daily life. Not only for one week, or one month, or one year, but forever. We can ask about who they were, what they loved, and what made them smile. We can show up — when we’re asked, and sometimes when we’re not. We can send a text or a note when we see a beautiful flower or a red-tailed hawk that is a symbol of their loved one.

– We can honor them through micro rituals—in our family this looks like dinner and dancing and song and poetry and tears and laughter every Friday night.

– We can read and get educated. Read ‘Bearing the Unbearable’ by Dr. Joanne Cacciatore, read ‘The Wild Edge of Sorrow’ by Francis Weller. Watch videos and read articles on the Courageous Parents Network.

– We can sit by their side when they cry. We can hold their hand in those moments, instead of helping them reach for a bottle.

– We can ask “what do you need to be okay, today?” and not be afraid of the answer.

I promise these simple actions work. They are the best medicine. This list really does go on and it doesn’t cost our country anything.

The medicalization or minimization of grief, however, could cost us our humanity.

The Wife Of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas ‘Repeatedly Pressed’ Trump’s Former-Chief Of Staff About Overturning The 2020 Election

“Clarence doesn’t discuss his work with me, and I don’t involve him in my work.”

That’s Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, conservative activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, claiming (in the same interview where she revealed that she attended the failed coup on January 6th) that she and her husband don’t talk politics. That may be true (marriage is a lot like an orange, after all), but she’s apparently comfortable texting Donald Trump’s former-chief of staff about overturning the 2020 presidential election.

CBS News and the Washington Post report that Thomas “repeatedly pressed” Meadows about the election “in urgent text exchanges in the weeks following the vote.”

Those messages — part of 29 total messages obtained — reveal an extraordinary pipeline between Virginia Thomas, who goes by Ginni, and then-President Donald Trump’s top aide during a period when Trump and his allies were vowing to go to the Supreme Court in an effort to subvert the election results. The messages, which do not directly reference Justice Thomas or the Supreme Court, show for the first time how Ginni Thomas used her access to Trump’s inner circle to encourage and seek to guide the president’s strategy to overturn the election results — and how receptive and grateful Meadows said he was to receive her advice.

On November 10, 2020, three days after CNN called the election for Joe Biden, Thomas texted, “Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!…You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History.” Two weeks later, Meadows wrote, “This is a fight of good versus evil. Evil always looks like the victor until the King of Kings triumphs. Do not grow weary in well doing. The fight continues. I have staked my career on it. Well at least my time in DC on it.” She replied: “Thank you!! Needed that! This plus a conversation with my best friend just now… I will try to keep holding on. America is worth it!” It’s unknown who the “best friend” is.

Crowd hushes for a blind basketball player to hear the basket—then goes wild when she makes it

It’s a common belief that disabilities make it impossible to do certain things. Sometimes that’s true—but not nearly as often as people might assume. With the right support and accommodations, people with all manner of disabilities can participate in far more activities than society expects.

Take, for instance, a team sport like basketball. Can a person who can’t see play that sport? How would they know where they are on the court? How would they know where to throw the ball or locate where the basket is? How could they keep track of where their teammates are and what they’re doing?

Without a little imagination in answering them, those questions seem like they’d exclude blind people from being able to play basketball. However, when inclusion is the goal, human beings can figure out all kinds of ways to make the seemingly impossible happen.

High school basketball player Jules Hoogland is completely blind. As a junior at Zeeland East High School in Michigan, Hoogland plays on Zeeland’s Unified Sports team made up of students with and without disabilities.

As she set up for a free throw, the crowd fell into a hush so Hoogland could hear the tapping of the basket so she could put the ball in the right spot. A fellow player ensured she was positioned for the shot, and Hoogland nailed it.

Watch:

Not only was it a great shot, it was an awesome example of what support and inclusion can look like from both a school and a community.

Unified Sports is a program by Special Olympics that promotes inclusion in sports by bringing people with and without intellectual or physical disabilities together to play on the same team. Unified Sports teams are made up of people of similar age and skill to create a level playing field and to make practices and games both challenging and fun.

The goal is not so much for those without disabilities to “help” those with; rather, it’s a way to empower everyone to have fun together through sports. Teammates work together to play their personal and collective best for the good of the team.

According to Special Olympics, about 1.4 million people worldwide take part in Unified Sports. What a beautiful way for everyone to benefit from the fun and camaraderie sports can provide, and to provide a way for people of all abilities and disabilities to build bonds of friendship.

Ja Morant Will Be Re-Evaluated In Two Weeks As He Deals With A Knee Injury

The Memphis Grizzlies hold a two-game lead on the Golden State Warriors for the 2-seed in the West with just nine games to go, and they are all but assured a top-3 spot and at minimum homecourt in the first round of the playoffs.

The stretch run for Memphis will not provide much in the way of opportunity for a dress rehearsal for the playoffs, though, as they will be without their All-Star point guard for the next two weeks, at minimum, as Ja Morant deals with soreness in his right knee. Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins announced Morant, who missed the last two games for Memphis, would be re-evaluated in two weeks, but did indicate that this seemed to be more precautionary, noting the expectation is he’s at full strength for the playoffs.

The good news for the Grizzlies is they have been sensational without Morant in the lineup this season, going 15-2 in his absence so far this year, most recently taking down the Brooklyn Nets on national TV on Wednesday night. Having Morant at full strength is of utmost concern at this point, and their position certainly affords them some cushion to be cautious with their young star. Even with Morant out, they still are favored to finish in the 2-seed and then would await the winner of the first play-in game in the West to learn their opponent.

Vanessa Bryant Reached An Agreement With Nike To Bring Back Kobe’s Sneaker Line

Last April, Nike failed to reach an agreement with Vanessa Bryant regarding the future of their line of Kobe sneakers and had to halt production and distribution of the extremely popular shoes. Some prototypes, including a Mambacita pair, still made their way out into the hands of some of their NBA players, which irked Vanessa and since then players have only been able to wear colorways they were able to stockpile.

The Kobe line is the most popular sneaker in the league, so many players were worried about having to find a new shoe to wear once their stash ran out, but those players and fans of the line in general received some good news on Thursday. Vanessa Bryant announced on Instagram that nearly a year after declining to renew the contract with Nike, she had reached an agreement with the sneaker giant to bring the Kobe line back as well as Gigi merchandise, with Nike donating all net proceeds from the Gigi line to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation and working with Bryant on building a new youth basketball center in Southern California.

We’re excited to announce our partnership with Nike is going to continue! I am so proud that my husband’s shoes are still the most worn by players on NBA courts and that the demand for his shoes remain so desired by his fans around the world. With this new partnership, fans will soon be able to have access to Kobe and Gigi Nike product for years to come and with Nike donating 100% of the net proceeds yearly for Gianna’s shoes to our Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation (M&MSF). I am also grateful that Nike and I will work together to establish a youth basketball center in Southern California that will share the Mamba Mentality with youth athletes for generations to come. I know this is an inspiring moment for my husband and daughter’s global fans, and I am very appreciative of each and every one of you!

With Gratitude for every fan around the world supporting Kobe and Gigis Legacy,
Vanessa Bryant

It’s great to see Nike finding away to reconcile with Vanessa and get this deal done to allow fans to continue getting the ever-popular line of sneakers, while also supporting a good cause as well with Gigi merchandise. There’s no word on exactly when the Kobe line will return to retailers and Nike’s online store, but given they were in production on a few retros last year when the contract got pulled, one would think they have some product to put out fairly soon.

What’s Going On With The Bees In Bridgerton?

(Spoilers for Bridgerton, including Season 2, will be found below.)

It’s almost go-time for the second Bridgerton season, and there will be Lady Whistledown’s gossip aplenty along with a new principal romance, and over all, this batch of episodes will please fans, even without Regé-Jean Page’s Duke in sight. There’s a huge Season 1 easter egg that must be discussed, though, and it gives clues for Season 2, so if you want to (totally) avoid what’s coming next, please click away.

Yup, click away if you want no clues from Julia Quinn’s books.

Alright, let’s talk about the bees of Bridgerton.

Bridgerton Bee
Netflix

These little buzzing critters are seen on occasion (like, for example, on a door knocker) in the first season, as above, during the final moments when the camera panned to this ^^^^ windowsill after Daphne and Duke Simon welcomed their first child into the world. This has to do with Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), who’s the male lead of Season 2. Before this scene, we saw Anthony telling Daphne and Simon how he didn’t really see himself marrying for love but, instead, for duty.

This gives us a heads-up that Anthony is one stressed out dude. He’s essentially the Bridgerton patriarch before his time, and this is the case because of a damned bee. What gives?

According to Julia Quinn’s books, Anthony is deathly afraid of bees and is actually traumatized by them. That’s because his father died from a bee sting, and that had everything to do with shaping the person that he is today. Season 2 goes into the before-and-after of the bees’ insertion into Anthony’s life. His fears affect his search for love and how he prioritizes within life, and they cause him to make assumptions about how life should be lived. All of that gets knocked out of the water when Kate and Edwina Sharma surface for courting season.

In short, Anthony’s life will never be the same, and nope, the bees are not gone forever. Soon, you can see it all unfold on your streaming device.

‘Bridgerton’ returns to Netflix on March 25.

Say Sue Me Announce The New Album ‘The Last Thing Left’ And Share The Sweet-As-Pie ‘Around You’

South Korean indie band Say Sue Me delightfully emerged on a 2017 self-titled debut that culled from classic 90s indie, shoegaze, and surf rock vibes. Led by singer-guitarist Sumi Choi, the quartet were SXSW darlings and it was nothing short of joyful to see a South Korean band who was not only inspired by classic indie but were so damn good at making it themselves.

Today, Say Sue Me have announced the new album, The Last Thing Left, due out on May 13th. As the follow-up to 2018’s Where We Were Together, the new album seeks to pick up the pieces of the grief that set in four years ago when drummer Semin Kang was dealing with a terminal illness. Kang passed away in 2019 and The Last Thing Left tackles love and hope amid the loss of a dear friend that the Busan-based band experienced. “This album has the theme of some realization, eventually the realization of love,” Choi says. “Love in relationships, love for oneself, and the ultimate love gained after realizing those two things.”

Lead single “Around You” has a riff that’s as cute as Choi’s lyrics. “I’ll be better when I’m around you,” she sings, in the upbeat tune. The band wrote this song at the beginning of the pandemic when they self-produced the album in their Busan studio. Choi says it was written “in a world where it became difficult to go outside and meet people freely. I felt like time is totally mine, but I still don’t know how to control it. My thoughts linger and dwell within me and my youth is slipping away. Perhaps when I go outside something is waiting for me that makes me think better than this!”

“Around You” is sure to boost your spirits and you can watch the video for it above.

The Last Thing Left is due out on 05/13 via Damnably. Pre-order it here.
