Back in June of 2024, Natalie Portman had an unexpected meeting with Rihanna while at Paris Fashion Week. The interaction lasted a mere few seconds, but the actress says it gave her “the confidence boost of a lifetime” during a particularly challenging time, according to TODAY.
In a video posted to Instagram by Bustle, we see the two icons exchange a heartfelt hug, each clearly excited to meet the other. Rihanna told Portman that she was “one of the hottest b**ches in Hollywood forever,” to which the “Black Swan” star replied “I’m gonna faint.”
Understandable, Natalie. That is the only correct response after getting a compliment from Rhi Rhi.
Speaking with Jimmy Fallon on July 15th, Portman called the mutual hype-up “formative” following her divorce with Benjamin Millepied after 11 years of marriage.
“I think every woman going through a divorce should get to have Rihanna say to her that she’s a bad b**ch,” she gushed, saying that is was “exactly what [she] needed.”
You can catch the interview moment below, which also plays the original clip.
Rihanna Helped Natalie Portman Deal with Her Divorce by Calling Her the “Hottest B*tch”
Down in the comments, people were clearly moved to see these two women, who hadn’t truly known each other only minutes before, support each other in such a lovely way.
“I am so glad that Rihanna was able to be a light in the darkness for Natalie Portman. Two lovely women lifting each other up is always so nice to see! “ one viewer wrote.
“Bless Natalie and bless Rihanna for saying something so profound and encouraging during a difficult time. It goes to show, ‘Be nice to everyone you see as they are fighting a battle you know nothing about,’” added another.
While divorce is fairly common, it is still often a fairly taboo topic with a lot of stigma surrounding it. All of which makes it difficult to know exactly how to support a person going through one. Generally speaking, this kind of support looks a lot like how you might help someone going through other flavors of grief—lending a helping hand, continuing to invite them to things, offering to hold space and just listen, etc.
But it’s easy to see through this wholesome moment that reminding our friends of their inherent worth through a hype up session here and there can also work wonders. It probably doesn’t have to be Rihanna saying it to have an impact. Although, she could probably whip up another side business handing out compliments.
Fox Sports is about to lose one of its most prominent personalities, as it was reported on Monday that longtime provocateur Skip Bayless is going to leave FS1 and the show that he’s starred on for years, Undisputed. Bayless has been the face of the show ever since he left ESPN in 2016, and after the departure of Shannon Sharpe and the use of a new format where Bayless is no longer as prominent of a voice, the 72-year-old is now on the way out.
There is an obvious question to ask in this: Could a return to the Worldwide Leader in Sports be on the horizon? Bayless and Stephen A. Smith were the faces of First Take for years prior to the former’s departure, and in that time, Smith has turned into the most ubiquitous presence at ESPN. They’ve apparently maintained a good relationship, even with some bumps in the road, but despite that, Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports heard directly from the network that a reunion is not in the cards.
“We are set with the current First Take rotation, and wish Skip the best on his future endeavors,” a spokesperson from ESPN told McCarthy.
As FOS noted, Bayless pushed for ESPN to hire Smith as a foil on First Take back in 2012, which helped bring him back into the fold at the network after he was let go in 2009. They were a formidable duo for years before Bayless left, and in the time since he moved to FS1, Smith has become the face that runs the place at ESPN, going as far as getting ESPN to hire Bayless’ longtime sparring partner on Undisputed, Sharpe, after his high-profile departure from the show.
Of course, it is very easy for ESPN to say they have no interest in hiring Bayless before he actually leaves FS1, and who knows if Smith decides to throw his weight around in either direction here — remember, he is in the middle of contract talks with ESPN, and has made clear that he could leave the network and pursue other interests if they don’t appease him. It’s definitely something worth monitoring once Bayless officially hits the open market, in large part because it’s very hard to see him ending up anywhere else if he decides to stay in sports media.

Love Island might sound like a picturesque tropical oasis filled with beautiful twenty-something and their Shein bikinis, and it is! But it’s also so much more than that: It’s like having your own personal Sims family living in Fuji who do not know you exist. And that’s what good television is all about.
The series, a spinoff of the controversial dating show Love Island UK, follows a group of singles who partner up and compete for a chance to win $100K in real-time, though viewers can vote on who they think is most (or least) compatible and have them dumped. The show first premiered in America on CBS in 2019, when Peacock picked up it up ahead of season four, and now the sixth season of Love Island USA has officially become the must-watch event of the summer. Sorry, Olympians!
With a new episode every day except Wednesday, the series has seen a 257% increase in viewership since its debut on June 11th. That, paired with new host Ariana Madix and her dedicated Vanderpump Rules fan base has helped propel the series to new heights. The best part is that the Islanders have no idea! This is bad news for Islander Miguel, who simply told his mom he was on “a retreat” before entering the villa. Hopefully she knows where he is now.
All good things must come to an end, so Love Island USA season six will end on Sunday, July 21st. The finale will air at 9 pm on Peacock where the winning couple will be revealed. Thankfully, there are still five more episodes until then, so anything can happen. On the other side of things, Love Island UK normally runs for eight weeks compared to USA’s five, so the success of this season might mean that next summer could see more episodes.
Will the couples make it outside the villa? Possibly! The goal of Love Island is to find love…but they also win $100,000 if they are chosen by the viewers. Handfuls of past season winners are still going strong, while others can return for a round of Love Island Games. Whatever happens, you will probably see more of these Islanders in the future. But maybe not Rob, who simply has to go back to the high stakes world of snake wrangling instead of lying to women on camera.
“I’m not gonna bullshit y’all, I was drunk last night,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is. I hear it’s super fun.” She signed the note, “xo, Ingrid.”
Earlier in the day, before her viral performance, Andress sent out an email to her fans to announce a new song, “Colorado 9.” In the message, she made reference to having “to part ways with some people who’ve helped me make a name for myself. It sent me into what country American call ‘depression,’ but I’m not a doctor. It was the lowest point I‘ve even been.” The single is scheduled to come out later this month.
Greetings to everyone that has a pulse. I truly love you all so much. I’ve been absent for a minute, but I’m so stoked to announce that my new single “Colorado 9” comes out on July 24th, pre-save it now: https://t.co/Z07vjiSAOypic.twitter.com/oJYVJ1xq9b
Everyone wants a piece of Cash Cobain’s sexy drill. The 25-year-old South Bronx rapper and producer’s sound and tag – “and this beat from Cash, not from YouTube” – are inescapable nowadays as the music industry looks to cash in on the wave fans can’t get enough. Fellow Bronx rapper A Boogie With Da Hoodie is one of many who have shared their praises for Cash. “He came up and he made a f*cking sound,” A Boogie said in an interview last month. “He made this sh*t happen, n****s don’t do that. N****s sleep on the craft.” Though that may be true in many cases, people are not sleeping on Cash Cobain. Having the song of the summer is one thing, but Cash Cobain took it a step further by claiming this year’s sound of the summer.
A Boogie’s comments came a month after he and Cash Cobain released their first collaboration, “Body,” a focus record from A Boogie’s latest album Better Off Alone. A week later, Cash produced and featured on Don Toliver’s “Attitude” which also featured a rare guest verse from the legendary Charlie Wilson. Both records were paired with matching visuals to properly spotlight the moments that those songs were meant to create for the respective albums they’re housed on, and it paid off. “Body” and “Attitude” are fan favorites on A Boogie and Don’s latest albums, with Cash being the common factor that’s too successful to ignore.
Music’s biggest stars have taken notice too. Cash’s sound made it to Drake’s 2023 album For All The Dogs as he co-produced the 21 Savage-featured “Calling For You.” J. Cole jumped on the wave this past spring for “Grippy,” a remix of Cash’s “Dunk Contest” that also doubled as Cole’s first recorded verse following his exit from the Kendrick Lamar and Drake rap beef (and probably an attempt to lighten the mood). Cash scored another big production credit with PinkPantheress’ “Nice To Meet You” with Central Cee. More recently, Ice Spice remixed Cash’s “Fisherrr” hit to add to Cash’s list of collaborations in 2024 that includes first-timers like Anycia, Diany Dior, and Bktherula as well as work with longtime collaborators like Vontee The Singer, Chow Lee, and B-Lovee.
The impressive thing about Cash Cobain’s sound is it’s just as effective, and sometimes more effective, with Cash in the driver’s seat. His 2024 year began with “Dunk Contest,” a sprawling account of Cash’s Rolodex of women, their best qualities, and his desires with them. “Fisherrr” with Bay Swag followed and quickly found itself in the song of the summer race. Production from Cash, FckBwoy! & WhoIsJiggiA guides the song as Cash and Bay lament over their luxurious and intimate experiences with their respective women. Cash scored a hat trick for himself last month with the long-awaited release of “Rump Punch,” a more laid-back effort from the Bronx native that’s just as raunchy as anything else you’ll hear from him.
For Cash Cobain’s next act, he’s bringing the entire music industry with him – or so it seems. At the beginning of this month, Cash teased a new record called “Problem.” The song samples Laila!’s viral track “Not My Problem,” and though it seemed like it would be a solo record, it quickly turned into what now appears to be a massive posse cut. As of press time, Lil Yachty, 6lack, Chow Lee, Karrahbooo, Anycia, Kyle Richh, FLEE, Fabolous, YN Jay, Flo Milli, Luh Tyler, and Kaliii have all teased their own guest verses on the song.
After the flurry of “Problem” verses died down, Cash’s manager Glyn Brown seemed to pump the brakes on the upcoming posse cut, writing, “Confused how some ya n****s getting ‘problem’ instrumental but lol ..get ya rocks off.” Though the list of artists on “Problem” may get cut down, the fact that so many recorded a verse to the song less than a week after Cash previewed the record speaks to the power of his sound and the acknowledged impact and love fans have for it. Like I said earlier, everyone wants a piece of sexy drill.
The allure of sexy drill has grown beyond Cash Cobain as artists have found success in the genre without the Bronx native listed as a rapper or producer on the song. Jordan Adetunji went viral with the Prodbyli & VillaBeatz-produced “Kehlani,” a Summer Walker-sampling track that praises a woman for being “bad just like Kehlani.” Kehlani herself eventually caught wind of the song and teased a guest verse for an upcoming remix. Don Toliver has a future hit on his hands with “Glock” which samples Whitney Houston’s “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” thanks to production from PoWR Trav & Tommy Parker. The former producer is also responsible for successful records like Wolfacejoeyy’s “Cake,” R2R Moe’s “Fair2Me,” and Bb Trickz’s “Bambi.”
If you need one sentence to describe Cash Cobain’s approach to both music and life, look no further than a post he shared on X earlier this month. “I hope everybody get drunk tonight and have a good ass time lol,” he wrote. It’s a simple recipe that’s worked wonders for Cash over the last few years, sitting on the opposite end of the spectrum from rap’s overused tough-guy persona. In Cash’s world, it’s best to be laid-back, relaxed, and enjoying the party. Furthermore, he goes out of his way to cater to women with his music, a rarity in rap today. These are the qualities that make Cash Cobain’s sexy drill a sound for all demographics to champion. With a new album on the way, as well as production on upcoming albums by Chow Lee and others, Cash Cobain won’t be fading into the background anytime soon. The party goes on with sexy drill blaring from speakers near and far for a sound that proven it’s here to stay.
Ross says of the song, “I was messing around with some classic-sounding lyrical tropes because I wanted to pick them apart as a song idea, but also because they actually sounded good as lyrics. I think it works because this song is kind of about figuring out what to do when you realize you outgrew a lot of stuff you used to like. This song came together somewhat quickly and I was pretty sure it was gonna be the album opener when I was writing it.”
He also says of the album, “You zoom out, and I’m very fortunate. But Dulling The Horns came from the feeling of figuring out how do you deal with things and move forward and just keep creating.”

There are some positives about being an A-list celebrity: you get to fly all over the world, meet other big named celebs, and adopt whatever dog you’d like. On the other hand, everyone knows your business all the time. So it’s a bit of a double-edged sword, but there are some bright spots!
For instance, Natalie Portman went through a divorce earlier this year, and normally that’s not the type of thing you want the world to comment on, but that’s how Hollywood works. Luckily, she was given a pep talk by Rihanna, so now she is the most powerful divorcee in the world.
Portman and Rihanna were met each other during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, where the singer praised the newly-single Portman. “It was…an amazing experience for me,” Portman told Jimmy Fallon this week. “I think every woman going through a divorce should get to have Rihanna say to her that she’s a bad b*tch. It was exactly what I needed,” she added.
Video of the two meeting went viral back in January. “You are one of the hottest b*tches in Hollywood,” the singer told Portman before asking for a pic. Portman then told Fallon, “It was a formative moment in my life.”
“That’s a big deal,” Fallon replied, though he will never know what it’s like for Rihanna to call him a bad b*tch. He can only dream of what that would feel like for him.
Ahead of hitting the road with Green Day, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Rancid, energetic rock band The Linda Lindas have announced a new album.
No Obligation, the follow-up to 2022’s catchy Growing Up, has been in the works for over two years. It was recorded during “spring breaks, winter breaks, and long weekends,” as guitarist and vocalist Lucia de la Garza and bassist Eloise Wong are in high school, drummer Mila de la Garza just graduated middle school, and Bela Salazar is out of school but still a teenager.
Along with the album announcement, The Linda Lindas also released the first single, “All In My Head.” In a statement, Lucia said, “It has the most indie vibes we’ve leaned into so far because it was written on an acoustic guitar. Recording it was really fun, full of lots of dancing in the studio. I wrote ‘All In My Head,’ from the perspective of a book character, which kinda brought us out of our comfort zone.”

Ella Purnell has been having a bit of a moment. Actually, make that a winning few years, including her roles as the unfortunate Jackie in Showtime’s Yellowjackets and as a very different type of survivor on Prime Video/Amazon’s smash hit, Fallout. Before that, Purnell starred in two seasons of the underappreciated Sweetbitter series (which will appeal to devotees of The Bear) for Starz, and given that her star is rising, the cable network decided to rescue a Sky-produced TV series that filmed in 2020 but still hasn’t seen the light of day.
That would be Sweetpea, and let’s not waste any more time with filling in the details known so far.
Plot
The series is based upon C.J. Skuse’s same-named 2017 novel and is described by Starz as a “coming-of-rage” tale. Expect a dark comedy about Purnell’s character, Rhiannon, not to be confused with the 1970s Fleetwood Mac song about a witch. The Sweetpea book is not based upon the song, but Skuse did previously reveal that she changed the character’s name to Rhiannon after listening to the Fleetwood Mac song.
For some not-incidental info: Stevie Nicks wrote that song about a mystical figure called Rhiannon, framed as a witch in the song and based upon Mary Leader’s 1972 book, Triad: A Novel of the Supernatural, and Skuse’s novel also happens to revolve around a young woman who comes into a killer ability of her own. With that said, the story of Sweetpea is its own creation and a dark comedy, and Skuse’s book has drawn comparisons to Bridget Jones and some of cinema’s most terrifying villains. We’d say more about those villains, but those would spoil the fun. From Sky’s initial synopsis:
Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really, really sick. So far, so shit. Then everything in her life turns upside down. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge, and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?
Cast
Purnell will be joined by Leah Harvey, Tim Samuels, Dino Kelly, Elliot Cable, Lucy Heath, and Jessica Brindle.
Release Date
Originally meant to arrive in 2020 for Sky, the Starz pick up means that Sweetpea will see the light of day before 2024 is over.
Trailer
Sweetpea hasn’t surfaced in trailer form yet. However, Purnell fans might want to revisit Sweetbitter (with the trailer below), which (again) will also appeal to fans of FX’s The Bear.
