Kristen Stewart, Jared Leto, Kirsten Dunst, And More Team Up To Cover Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Drivers License’

In honor of Olivia Rodrigo’s birthday over the weekend, W Magazine did what they usually do: gathered a throng of random celebrities to join forces for a discordant YouTube serenade. Of course, the tune this time was last year’s colossal, chart-dominating “Drivers License.”

Members of this impromptu choir include Kristen Stewart, Leslie Odom Jr., Jared Leto, Jennifer Hudson, Jodie Comer, Zazie Beetz, Kirsten Dunst, Simon Rex, and even more. As always, the result is a mess of a few stars singing seriously, most reading the lines dramatically, and others just laughing.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo celebrated her 19th birthday with a cute, Kacey Musgrave-esque outfit and a hot pink cake with Lorde lyrics written on it in icing. The line was from “Perfect Places” off the beloved Melodrama album: “I’m 19 and I’m on fire.” She has a lot of reasons to party; her quick, staggering rise to global pop stardom was unprecedented, and no one had a bigger 2021 than her (who else has gotten nominated for seven Grammys immediately after the release of their debut album?!). Her status will surely only continue to get higher as she prepares to embark on her first tour.

Watch the entertaining cover of “Drivers License” above.

Tucker Carlson Trashed ‘Corrupt’ Ukraine And Says He’s Written A Letter To Putin To Request An Interview With Him

Tucker Carlson is sick and tired of people claiming that he is soft on Russia. So the Fox News host—whose clips are regularly featured on Russia’s state-owned media, whose editor-in-chief has been known to gush over how “wonderful” he is—took time out of his show on Monday night to dispel those criticisms… by trashing Ukraine and China, and confirming that hell yeah he’d like to host a sit-down interview with Vladimir Putin.

After noting that he and his colleagues have been criticizing Joe Biden’s “lunatic push for war with Russia,” Carlson went on to downplay our country’s century-long rivalry with Russia, claiming that it’s China—not Russia—who is our true rival. And that “we have no legal or moral obligation to defend Ukraine’s territorial integrity,” as they are not a vital ally to the U.S.

“Ukraine is not even a democracy,” Carlson yelped (no really, his voice went up an octave), “despite what Joe Biden endlessly claims. Ukraine is a corrupt eastern European autocracy that has spent millions of dollars lobbying politicians in Washington and, by the way, made Joe Biden’s family rich. Those are not Russian talking points; they are entirely true. And because they are true, no one in the administration is willing to debate or rebut them, not for a second. Instead, they just call you a ‘traitor.’”

https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1495932356632494096

It took a minute, but that’s the point Carlson—the same man who made a documentary about how the Capitol riots were a false flag operation—was really attempting to make: That his deep desire to have a public tête-à-tête with Putin, despite the fact that he is a “tyrant” threatening what some people could be “the biggest war in Europe since 1945.” Carlson is clearly pretty annoyed that he’s being described as “un-American” for wanting to speak with Putin, even though—as he noted—NBC News interviewed him recently and “that was completely fine. But our efforts to do the same are not allowed.”

Carlson, like something out of a paranoid 1970s political thriller, says that it’s evident that Fox News is trying to be silenced. After reintroducing the old chestnut that the NSA had spied on the network’s emails and texts, Carlson made it clear that he will never shut up:

“[W]e won’t be quiet, and not just because [Fox News] is a new organization. We’re Americans, and we can talk to anyone we want. We can have any opinion we feel like having. That is not treason. It is not un-American. It’s the whole point of America. It’s our Bill of Rights distilled.”

Carlson then shared that his team had recently sent out yet another request to Putin asking for an interview, which would surely be as stimulating as watching Donald Trump chase after the Russian leader like a lovesick teen.

But just to prove that this is all about journalistic integrity, and absolutely, definitely, most certainly, no way, Jose about being outrageous or courting controversy, Carlson shared that they also put out a request to the president of Ukraine (though he failed to even mention his name, which—if you’re reading this, Tucker—is Volodymyr Zelenskyy). “We would like that interview, too,” Carlson said, being careful to note that “an interview is hardly an endorsement.”

The kicker, of course, was when Carlson announced that he had also invited David Cicilline—Rhode Island’s Democratic congressman, who called Carlson’s attempts to get Putin to sit down with him while the country is on the verge of starting a war with Ukraine “sickening” to sit down for an interview, too. He also turned on that famous Tucker charm when he described Cicilline as “a former mafia lawyer who represents one of our most corrupt states. He is a repulsive man.”

Flattery will get you everywhere.

Patrick Stewart Has Responded To The Rumors That He’s In ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness’

Here’s what we know about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It has the longest title of all the Marvel movies; it’s directed by Sam Raimi; and it stars Benedict Cumberbatch. Here’s what we don’t know about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which I will henceforth call Doctor Strange 2 because, again, long title: whether it also stars Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ryan Reynolds, and Patrick Stewart.

About 80 seconds into the Doctor Strange 2 trailer, a mysterious voice says, “We should tell him the truth.” It sounds a heck of a lot like Patrick Stewart’s Professor Xavier, which would signal the arrival of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But in an interview with Comic Book, the Star Trek: The Next Generation actor denied any involvement with the movie. “You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago,” he said. “So, I can’t be held responsible for that.”

It’s either someone doing a credible impression of Stewart, or Andrew Garfield denying that he’s in Spider-Man: No Way Home (or, more appropriately, Benedict Cumberbatch saying he’s definitely not playing Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness) all over again.

We’ll find out on May 6, when Doctor Strange 2 hits theaters.

Orthodontists Want To Get Their Hands On Alana Haim Since ‘Licorice Pizza’

Alana Haim had a breakout role as the star of last year’s Licorice Pizza, as is now well-known. The Haim member’s on-screen success can be attributed to a number of factors, including her Golden Globe-nominated acting skills and her distinct look. Part of that idiosyncrasy is her teeth, which some might say aren’t aesthetically “perfect” by traditional standards. In fact, it turns out a number of orthodontists, aka folks in the business of “perfect” teeth, have actually reached out to Haim in an effort to take a crack at working on her mouth.

Haim was on Late Night yesterday and during her chat with Seth Meyers, the host asked Haim if her newfound acting success has brought a new set of fans. Haim responded with a laugh:

“I’m a young, 30-year-old, single gal, so what do you do when you’re a young, 30-year-old, single gal? You go on Instagram and maybe peruse your messages. […] Funny enough, you know who reaches out the most? Orthodontists. The world… everyone is concerned about my teeth. I’ve gotten over ten DMs from orthodontists asking if I need help and can they please fix my teeth? And I love my teeth. I love my teeth. And I have a snaggletooth and I’m very proud of my snaggletooth, but the world of dentistry is not pleased.”

Meyers pointed out that, like himself, Haim actually had braces, and Haim continued, “I had braces for four years, and this is what my teeth… I don’t know if you can zone in on my teeth, but this is what my teeth look like.” The shot then started slowly zooming in on Haim’s face as she excitedly flashed her pearly whites and pointed to them.

She and Meyers had some good fun during their ten-minute conversation, so check it out above.

Of Course Olivia Rodrigo Used A Lorde Lyric On Her Birthday Cake

Joining the (love) club of young teen pop phenoms, Olivia Rodrigo made it clear that she was deeply influenced by the girls who came before her. Openly a massive fan of Taylor Swift and Lorde, it’s not very shocking that when Olivia is celebrating milestones in her personal life (or professional life, for that matter) that she turns to deep cuts from her own favorite pop stars. Posting a bunch of photos from her 19th birthday on social media today, Rodrigo shared a pic of her cake that was emblazoned with a lyrical quote from Lorde’s song “Perfect Places” off her Melodrama album: “I’m 19 and I’m on fire.”

Though she was channeling Lorde for the sweet section of her party, Olivia’s outfit was much more Kacey Musgraves than Lorde or Taylor — hot pink, lacy and sheer tank top and skirt with a hot pink cowboy hat. It’s basically the uniform for anyone attending Kacey’s ongoing Star-Crossed tour. “Thank u for all the birthday luv! i am now 19!!!!!!!” Rodrigo captioned her photo set, which you can see up above, and scroll through for the cake photo. Her actual birthday was this Sunday, February 20th — which is the same as Rihanna — so hopefully she had a great day celebrating.

Frankie Muniz Came Up With A Jokey Idea For An ‘Aging Cody Banks’ Sequel Where The Onetime Spy Hero Has A ‘Dad Bod’

Reboots and revivals are more popular than ever right now, particularly if they’re direct sequels to a very old original that ignores all the other follow-ups and confusingly has the same title. But there’s one IP no one’s gotten around to (yet): Agent Cody Banks, the short-lived franchise that cast Malcolm in the Middle’s Frankie Muniz as a teenage CIA spy. It only got two movies all the way back in the aughts, but Muniz had a jokey — and frankly pretty good — idea for a new follow-up.

“Yo… Agent Cody Banks was a bad ass. And I was Cody Banks. That’s bad ass,” Muniz reflected on Twitter. He then hatched an idea for a catch-up, in which he’s definitely no longer a globetrotting spy. “I wonder if 36 year old Cody Banks is sitting in bed eating Fritos while shaking his gut, thinking ‘I really let myself go’ like I’m doing right now. What do you do after you saved the world twice at 16?”

He went on: “Imagine, you’re in trouble and hoping someone will save you. Will it be Batman, James Bond, Captain America? No. It’s dad bod Agent Cody Banks that pulled a muscle putting on his shoes.”

Muniz even had a title: Aging Cody Banks.

Muniz has suffered from health problems over the last several years. He even claims that, after head trauma, including multiple concussions, he no longer has much memory of shooting Malcolm in the Middle. But he’s still around, and he’s clearly good at outside-the-box Twittering. A few years ago, he even tried to shoot his shot with Lizzo.

Family opens a free clothing store for foster kids after realizing they own virtually nothing

When most people think about foster children they lament the fact that they have no parents. When, in most cases, the problem is much worse, they have nothing. No friends. No family. No belongings.

When the police remove a child from an abusive home, the child’s things aren’t the biggest priority. In other cases, a caseworker shows up at a child’s home for removal and they only have a few minutes to grab a few things—whatever fits in a plastic bag.

Linda Durrence, 51, from Glennville, Georgia wants the foster children in her community to have something for themselves.

In December 2016, she and her husband lost their 27-year-old daughter in a car accident. After their tragic loss, the Durrences and their two remaining daughters began attending a church in Glennville. The daughters soon became friends with three girls that were being fostered by another family at the church.

However, in 2018, the sisters were set to be moved to separate foster homes.

The oldest of the three sisters turned 18 and left the foster care system, so the Durrences took in the two younger daughters to watch over them until they could be reunited with their grandparents in Florida. After getting settled in their new home, the sisters begged the Durrences to stay with them because they were tired of moving around. In 2019, the Durrrences adopted the two girls.

As the sisters settled into the Durrences home, Linda couldn’t get over the image of them coming to her doorstep carrying nothing but trash bags.

“The first thing that broke my heart was that they came with a trash bag that wasn’t even halfway full with clothes that didn’t fit them,” Durrence told Fox 5 Atlanta. “They had one hairbrush. They did each have a toothbrush, but they only had like a trial size thing of toothpaste. They had no shampoo, no conditioner, no nothing.”

“It just kept staying on my mind,” she said, noting that her family was “financially blessed” to give them what they need. However, she wondered about other families and their foster children.

“What about the families that can’t go out and buy them what they need?” Durrence said. “Just the bare minimum, the necessities.”

Durrence had been thinking about opening a store for children in need for quite some time and eventually bought up a storefront at a small shopping mall. The store runs on donations and allows fostered, adopted or less fortunate children to shop for free.

Shoppers can make an appointment and if the store has clothes their size, they can get up to seven free sets of clothes and shoes every quarter. They can come by the store more often if they have a major change in size.

Durrence says she named the store after her two adopted daughters.

“We watched them blossom and that’s where the name came from,” Durrence said. “And what our hope is, is with Blossom, that it goes far beyond just kids coming to get clothes.” She hopes to add an education center to the store to help foster kids keep up with their educational goals and services for parents to help them raise their families.

You can follow Blossom on Facebook.

What’s Popular On Streaming Right Now

Multiple times per week, our TV and film experts will list the most important ten streaming selections for you to pop into your queues. We’re not strictly operating upon reviews or accrued streaming clicks (although yes, we’ve scoured the streaming site charts and ratings) but, instead, upon those selections that are really worth noticing amid the churning sea of content. There’s a lot out there, after all, and your time is valuable.

10: (TIE) Spencer (NEON movie on Hulu)

The world underestimated Kristen Stewart back in her Twilight era, and she’s showing us all with that Oscar nomination and, even more importantly, a gutsy attitude that pushed her to accept this project in the first place. Likewise, director Pablo Larraín took the same approach here as he did while helming Natalie Portman’s turn as Jackie O. The intention here isn’t to be a carbon copy of the subject matter. Rather, it’s to be faithful to the spirit of Princess Di’s secret anguish, and Stewart nails this project (including that hand-washing scene, which still freaks me out).

10: (TIE) Bel-Air (Peacock series)

Will Smith isn’t in this reboot, but he executive produces, so he’s definitely onboard from the creative aspect. The good news is that this show feels committed to proving its worth and its different objectives from the original. So goodbye, Carlton Dance, and hello darker vibes but ultimately warmth-affirming actions. Amid a sea of revivals and resurrections, all reboots face an uphill battle, but we’ll see if this one can mine nostalgia just right and be an exception to the derivative rule.

9. The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window (Netflix series)

If you haven’t had the pleasure yet of ignoring the snootiest critics and enjoying this guilty pleasure of dark comedy, hop onboard and prepare for a completely bonkers finale. You’ve undoubtedly heard of at least a few of this show’s inspirations, but this satirical turn both celebrates and damns the whole genre, including all of the pluses and minuses. It’s wine-soaked and nuts, man.

8. Jeen-Yus (Netflix docuseries)

So, Kanye’s had an interesting few months of a personal life, which is incredibly unsavory regarding his behavior, but he’s also got this streaming documentary that intends to chart his unlikely rise as an artist and (in his wording) a “genius.” The personal’s definitely overriding the professional shades here, but at least this selection is entertaining. Please, let this guy chill out a little bit and focus on the work. That’s where he really shines.

7. The Power of the Dog (Netflix film)

Oscar nominations all around for this film, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch’s a sinister, charismatic rancher who’s menacing side comes out in accordance with his own insecurities and toxic masculinity. He terrorizes his sister-in-law and her son, and both Jesse Plemons and Kristen Dunst won acting nominations along with Cumberbatch himself. Director Jane Campion earned accolades as well, so catch up on this one soon.

6. Pam & Tommy (Hulu series)

Pam & Tommy put a certain 1990s band (that few people remember) on blast last week, and you gotta tune in for the further excess and outrage. It’s an irresistibly trashy show that revels in the best and worst of the 1990s while never avoiding the tough issues, including consent and misogyny. The makeup and hair teams killed it, Jason Mantzoukas killed it while voicing an animatronic penis, and of course, the stars of this thing killed it. Lily James had no right to do as well as she did as Pamela Anderson, and Sebastian Stan really went for it as Tommy Lee. And Seth Rogen with a mullet? Sold.

5. Inventing Anna (Netflix limited series)

Following her latest Emmy-worthy turn on Ozark, Julia Garner cannot stop, even as a straight-up leading lady. Here, she portrays the ultimate con-woman who fools the highest of the high, as inspired by Jessica Pressler’s New York Magazine article. You’ll be enthralled and infuriated, and most of all, you won’t be able to stop watching.

4. Severance (Apple TV+ series)

Work-life balance: what’s up with that? Many of us can’t conceive of separating the two, and this show takes a real swing at the entire concept from the mind of Ben Stiller. Please let some Blue Steel eventually make a cameo, but first and foremost, terminally frustrated Adam Scott and the always fabulous Patricia Arquette are putting this thriller series on for you in an onscreen capacity. Wait for the Christopher Walken entrance.

3. Euphoria (HBO series on HBO Max)

We’re closing in on season finale time, and it’s not looking positive for anyone on this show. From Zendaya’s Rue, who’s inching towards rehab to the characters warring over a sex tape, there’s a plethora of theories to mull over, and hopefully, you’ll enjoy at least a few of the musical entrances while everyone stares down what will come next.

2. Peacemaker (HBO Max series)

Yep, this show formally ended the season last week, but in the process, the James Gunn-penned project opened up several connections to the DCEU at large. God only knows how this pandemic-boredom-borne project ended up tying so many threads together, but we can maybe put it all down to those dances. And that adorable Eagly.

1. The Righteous Gemstones (HBO series on HBO Max)

Alright, this one technically airs on HBO, but HBO Max is streaming this selection, and they are gearing up for evangelical finale time. You can’t resist the hallelujahs or even stop thinking about throwing dollars, so don’t even try to resist. In the meantime, the cast won’t stop. Obviously, John Goodman’s patriarch is there to demand focus, but Edi Patterson’s Judy Gemstone is truly my jam, and no one can resist Walton Goggins acting his butt off as Baby Billy. If you’re really itching for trouble, put that pickle where it counts and catch up on this volcano of a hot mess.

Drake Delivered A Heartfelt Speech At The Weeknd’s 32nd Birthday Party In Las Vegas

There once was a time when Drake and The Weekend didn’t appear to be on good terms. Two of the biggest stars from Toronto, Drake brought The Weeknd along into his OVOXO collective over a decade ago. While Drake effectively silenced any talk of a beef with his freestyle in the late-2019 track “War,” we got a pretty good idea of where they stand after Drake’s heartfelt toast at The Weeknd’s 32nd birthday party this past weekend in Las Vegas.

“I was there from day one and I’m grateful not only to be here with my brothers but just grateful that the family is back together where we belong from the greatest city in the world,” Drake said, in a moment DJ Akademiks shared on Instagram.

There were a lot of other moments captured at the party, including a clip of The Weeknd grabbing a mic to sing a long to “Get Busy” by surging Portland rapper Yeat. Also, what’s a party in Vegas without gambling? Future was in the mix as well and he ceased the moment to spark a blunt while playing blackjack with The Weeknd.

Following the birthday celebration, The Weeknd announced earlier today that a live TV special entitled The Weeknd x The Dawn FM Experience will be coming to Amazon Prime Video this Friday, February 26th.

Evangeline Lilly Is Begging Justin Trudeau To Meet With Protesting Anti-Vax Truckers

The Black Panther wing of the MCU has Letitia Wright, who denied reports that she was spreading anti-vaccine views on set. Meanwhile, the Ant-Man section has its own COVID skeptic. Evangeline Lilly, who plays Hope van Dyne, aka Wasp, recently bragged that she attended an anti-vax mandate rally in D.C. Now the actress is begging Canadian prime minster Justin Trudeau to sit down with the protesting truckers who’ve been blocking the nation’s cities.

In a video recorded for Bridge City News, a Canadian news show that airs on a Christian network, Lilly read a scripted plea to Trudeau. “I want to speak to you today about your current approach to and current treatment of our fellow Canadians who are protesting your federal vaccine mandates,” she said. “They have asked to meet with you, prime minister, medical experts, top scientists, doctors, nurses, parents, grandparents, intelligent, loving, concerned citizens.”

She then asked, “Why won’t you sit with them?”, asking him to “listen to what they have to say with a mind open to hearing things that might go against the ideas you are entrenched in.” She added, “What we need right now from our leadership is unification, and that requires being willing to see, recognize and hear from the people sitting out in the cold at your door.”

Last week, after a month of protests across the nation — with calls to do the same thing in America and elsewhere — Trudeau declared a national emergency to clear the truckers from cities. “We cannot and will not allow illegal and dangerous activities to continue,” he told the nation.

Lilly has always been skeptical of the pandemic’s severity. In mid-March of 2020, mere days after much of America went into quarantine, Lilly wrote it off as a “respiratory flu” and revealed that she was going to ignore public health warnings and refrain from social distancing. When she revealed that she’d attended said anti-vax rally, some of her MCU colleagues seemed to call her out, if not by name. Simu Liu tweeted about losing his grandparents to COVID, while David Dastmalchian, Lilly’s Ant-Man series colleague, wrote, “It’s so unfortunate when people with a large platform use that platform to share irresponsible things.”
